The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kendra strolled down the hall of the mansion in her pajamas and into the kitchen. She didn't mind being in revealing short shorts and a thin top, because no one could really see her. The fact was, she wasn't even really there. She took up a physical presence, took up physical space, but she was back in her bed. Sound asleep. Though when Kendra slept she projected a body out into the world to wander the halls of wherever she slumbered. She could move freely around and pick things up as she wished, moved things. She had no limitation except the laws of physics that bound her in the real world. Anything Kendra fell asleep in came with her to the dream world. This included clothes, cell phones, bracelets, hair ties you name it. And anything she was holding when she woke up came back to her body from her dream.
If for any reason she needed to wake up she simply had to call the phone in her room. She looked at the battery life of her phone. Should have brought her charger it read 50 percent. Since her phone was just an extension of the same projection it wouldn't work with a charger. The phone like her was slightly transparent in appearance, though to anyone besides Kendra it would be completely invisible along with the rest of the items she brought into her dream. She didn't know how it worked and she didn't try to figure it out. She had met Ghost tonight. She sort of felt like a ghost sometimes herself. This lonely existence of wandering around at night. She hadn't tried to reach out to anyone. Who wants to have a chat with a disembodied voice?
Her power always made her feel incredibly lonely before. Humans would freak out if a voice came out of thin air and no one was there to claim it so mostly she just watched people. People acted so different when they thought no one was watching. In her teen years she would break into homes and watch people, just observe them. Not to do anything malicious mind you, but wandering the same empty corridors gets boring after awhile and she wanted to see new things.
Kendra moved through the kitchen and opened the fridge. She didn't see any students or any other mutants on her way here. She just simply thought that most everyone was in their rooms. This was her first night in the mansion. She was welcomed by Ghost and they had a nice long chat for awhile as she gave Kendra a tour of the place, but besides that she hadn't really met anyone.
No one had really reached out to Kendra and she was to much of a socially awkward mess to just introduce herself. She had always been a little socially awkward. She didn't know how to balance that line Between careful and overly careful. She was terrified that someone would find out she was a mutant and that kept her at arms length. Kept her from making friends and so she never really learned how to. Kendra was resigned to wandering the halls alone a ghostly non existent nobody who nobody noticed.
Kendra looked through the fridge and pulled out the stuff to make a sandwich. At least there was plenty of food here. She opened the bread and unscrewed the jar's lid on the mayonnaise. Finding a knife she stuck it in the jar that's when she heard a sound coming towards the kitchen. She put everything on the counter. She left her mess right there. She didn't want someone to walk in and see a floating butter knife. That would have been bizarre. She just wanted whoever it was to come and go so she could be left alone with her thoughts. Left alone in this big lonely mansion.
She was in the middle of a big life change moving from Georgia to New York. Then finding this place, and coming to live here. It was all just a lot of change, and she was a bit overwhelmed. Kendra held her breathe as whoever was entering the kitchen approached.

Sleeping at the mansion was... a fun time. It had felt worse recently for some reason, late at night and not being able to stop her brain she just lay there feeling more and more aggressive towards the members of the dorms around her, being annoying teenagers and feeling all of their emotions so loudly. She grumbled about it, tossed and turned, tried doing music which also didn't work.
She climbed out of bed and pulled a pajama top on and a dressing gown. The dressing gown wasn't tied too loosely so she was wearing a pajama top that was a collage of old and famous horror movie posters, filled with classics like 'In space, no one can hear you scream', and the old nightmare on elm street posters. Topped off with what appeared to be a fake name tag that read 'I'm an innocent bystander.' The trousers were a similar style.
She decided that if sleep wasn't happening, she should maybe get tea and do some sketching, or see if there were any nerds she could scare by approaching and offering to play video games with them, most of them reacted quite badly to those kinds of suggestions and freaked out a bit, which gave her some measure of vindictive pleasure. Nobody had claimed that she was a particularly nice girl.
She strolled into the kitchen, planning on making herself a cup of tea before she scoured the mansion for her victim for the night before noting that someone had left out the ingredients for making some food. Wait, no that wasn't right. They were actually there, in the room with her.
She glared into the empty space that the presence was occupying. "If you're another invisible ass trying to creep me out, you can just come out right now, before I kick your ass." She pronounced it with a British flair so it was more of an 'Arse' than 'Ass.'

Kendra wasn't sure what was happening. How did she know I was there? Kendra thought. Still, she froze. This girl didn't seem to be in a particularly good mood. Kendra thought she heard a slight britishy accent. At least the word 'Arse' had stuck out in her mind. Kendra waited. She waited for something to happen. She waited for something to not happen. Honestly it was maddening to just sit there backed into the corner of the kitchen counter afraid to make a move. Kendra's shoulder's slumped and she finally spoke up.
"I didn't mean to scare you, I was making a sandwich." Innocent enough right? She was making a sandwich. Though, she didn't know why the concept of wheat bread, mayonnaise, pickles and cheese would frighten someone. Maybe the girl was lactose intolerant. A mutation in and of itself. Kendra moved past Emily and over to her sandwich and resumed making it. The knife floated through the air and spread the mayonnaise over a thin slice of cheese. It appeared as if it was a self making sandwich. An invention that was bound to make millions if anyone could ever crack that walnut.
Kendra was standing on the opposite side of the counter from Emily. She wanted to give the girl some space. "I'd like to show myself to you, but I'm not really here. I'm in room 206. I'm a dream walker." Dream walker. She hadn't even heard that term until she arrived at the mansion. She knew she was a mutant she just didn't know her mutation had a specific name for it.
Overall Kendra's mood improved a little. She was smiling at least, and she had a sandwich now.... That was good. Kendra took a bite of her sandwich and watched the girl in the rad ass pajamas. She didn't want to wig the girl out any further and she explained a bit more about why she couldn't be seen. "I guess you could say that I'm not real. I'm just a dream that you can hear and feel." She reached over with the hand not holding her sandwich and pulled over a toaster. It was small and shiny, a polished chrome. Kendra leaned into the toaster a little so her reflection could be seen on it's reflective surface.
She had moved around to Emily's side of the counter to do this and now she was standing right beside her. Emily would only be the second person she's talked to since arriving at the mansion. She looked young. Kendra wondered how old she was. Was she one of the students? She still had the sandwich in her hand when she held it out to Emily. "Want a bite?"
She didn't believe she was actually going to try and take a bite, but for the moment it was the best she could do. She was trying to break the awkward tension. Kendra wasn't an empath. She wasn't good at reading people's emotions. For the most part she just avoided people. Guess that was a little harder when you had so many flatmates now.

Emily titled her head at the direction that the voice and emotions were coming from. She'd been almost sure that it had been one of the guys with invisibility messing around again, she'd had more than one issue with some of them. Damn teenagers. It was good that the mansion was versed in dealing with troublesome teenagers, or she might have run into more problems with them. The girls were just as bad, truth be told.
"I wasn't scared." She replied promptly. "I assumed that you were on of the invisible kids buggering around again, they are some of the more annoying brats around here." she commented with more than a little prissiness.
Dream walker? What did that even mean? She was more than a little confused now. "Dream walker? How the hell does that work?" She queried. She was more than a little curious. She'd assumed that dream walking would be some kind of an astral thing, or moving into other people's dreams but this female presence seemed to actually have some kind of a physical presence, especially if it was busy making itself a sandwich.
She shook her head at the offer. The presence was definitely not malicious, so she didn't really have a problem interacting with it. If it had just been some person in the kitchen that had tried to talk to her she probably have told em to piss off. But this woman seemed timid if anything, and on top of that she was curious about the situation and how their powers were interacting in this manor. "You're more than just a dream, apparently." She was a little taken aback.
Emily actually made a conscious effort to smile at the dream presence. "It's alright, you don't need to be nervous or afraid, my bark is louder than my bite." She supplied.
Kendra took another bite of her sandwich. She supposed she couldn't really be surprised that the girl was confused. Kendra didn't realty understand it fully herself. Her mutation hadn't even blossomed until she was a teenager. Kendra was only twenty-one so she was still learning the ins and outs of it. Kendra had discovered a few different things that she could do. She could fall asleep and wander around, and mostly that was pretty boring. She also discovered by thinking of a fixed point in her dream she had a limited ability to teleport around. She had to just think of a location she had been before and she would find herself standing there. That was a bit disorienting at first and it took her some time to get control of that. Kendra called this blinking because she moved to a new location in the blink of an eye.
"Well." She said with a mouth full of sandwich. "I go to sleep and my mind makes a copy. My conscious thought is transferred over to this copy and I explore. Techinically this is all just a dream, but I'm still present in the world." Kendra touched Emily's shoulder to demonstrate.
Looking back at the fridge she blinked over to the refridgerator and opened it up. She forgot the ham. "I can feel pain. I can manipulate the world around me and I can even bring things back with me to my body when I wake up if I'm holding it." She stopped a moment to consider how bizarre this must sound. But this was a place for mutants surely she's encountered stranger powers before. Has she met Ghost at all?
Kendra pulled out the ham and plopped it on the counter and opened it. Going about her sandwich making with gusto and quietly shaking her head that she forgot such an essential ingredient to sandwich making. "If I get a cut or a bruise in my dream. I'll wake up with a healed scar or a faded mark. I got no off switch on it honey. Late night sandwich makin's about as good as it gets. I'm surprised I'm not 300lbs with all the late night snacks I have." Kendra continued casually.
She finished her sandwich and put away the ham before blinking herself over to the kitchen table in an empty chair. She was now across the room. It must've been a little disorienting for the girl to keep track of where she was but Kendra was moving around the room in autopilot as she tried to figure out how to explain how this all worked. "I'm just'a dream sugar. I'll wake up in the morning with a full night's worth'a memories. It's not like normal people where they wake up and have a groggy sense of what they dreamt. These are experiences so I'll remember this in the morning." She was sure that this girl would remember this in the morning as well.
Then something struck her. Something she hadn't thought of at first. "How'd you even know I was here anyways?" Kendra asked through another muffled mouthful of ham, cheese and crunchy pickle.
For the moment all of her problems seemed to backburner themselves. She wasn't worried about settling in to a new environment or the fact that she hadn't met anyone. For the moment she was just glad she had someone to talk to during her late night wandering dream. It gets pretty boring most of the time having no one to talk to. When everyone is a sleep and you find yourself sick to death of late night tv reruns there's only so much youtube, and romance novels you can handle before you start wanting to claw your own eyes out from boredom.
Emily told her not to be scared of her bark, and Kendra didn't feel that she had to be. It wasn't THAT bad after all. She seemed a little perturbed, but she didn't feel as if Emily had been snappy or rude. Maybe she was and it went over Kendra's head. She didn't mind as long as it was someone to talk to

Interesting. So her dreams meant that she was still a being of conscious thought, and also as it turned out, emotion. It was exactly like she was the room with Emily but she evidently was only there in a thought form. That sounded more like unconscious astral projection to Emily. Dream walking gave the impression that she actually walked among dreams, but it seemed like she didn't do that. Weird.
Okay, watching Kendra do things with objects whilst not really there did weird her out a little bit. Floating objects were a bit... Yup, no. She walked over to the kettle and flicked it to boil, getting herself out a mug to make tea whilst Kendra spoke to her she focused on a task where she didn't have to look at the floating objects for a minute or two. It was all a little much and she just needed to order her thoughts, a simple task she'd done a lot before like making a cup of tea did that.
Her power seemed to be pretty cool. Emily found her use of language interesting, and the emotions that went with it. She seemed a timid type of girl, but a sweet one. Emily had been trying to not make a habit of scaring nice people away from herself. It was the comment about the power not having an off switch that reaffirmed that thought in Emily. She could definitely empathise with that.
"Do you feel rested when you get up in the mornings then?, that must be really odd." Her thoughts drifted there for a bit. She wondered at which stages of the sleep cycle Kendra's power was actually active. If it was only the REM parts of the sleep cycle she suspected that the girl might dreamwalk multiple times. That would be really odd, and she couldn't imagine how restful that would be.
"Oh." She blinked and turned to the other girl, kettle now boiled she continued making the tea. She'd found when she'd moved in that the mansion had a stock of tea in all sorts of blends and assortments. Apparently another English student had made sure that they did have a larger stock, and even after graduating occasionally came back to the mansion and topped it up.
"Well I guess you've shown your hand, so I should respond in kind, I suppose." She paused for a moment before just deciding to go for it. "I'm an Empath, and as you so eloquently put it, there is no off switch for me." She replied. "So I didn't see you, or hear you so much as feel you. I can't even really block people out, I only stop noticing if I'm in a deep exhausted sleep or occupied with other things." She didn't elaborate that other things meant Alcohol.
"It's a wide enough range that I can sense an entire large cinema's worth of people's emotions all at once, I don't know exact numbers though. Long story short, the more people near me the more intense it gets." She strained and removed the teabag, added sugar and stirred till well dissolved and then added a splash of milk with another stir. How to brew a cup of tea the correct way. Take that colonial heathens.

Kendra watched as the girl went about brewing her tea and casually holding the conversation. She asked if Kendra ever felt rested after a night of dream walking. Kendra smiled, despite the fact that Emily couldn't see it. "Nope! I'm always as tired as'a bullfrog tryna hop outta skillet." She said with some amusement.
She sat at the table and finished her sandwich as she listened to the girl explain that she could sense her in the room. She sensed emotions? That sounded like it was a heavy burden. Kendra thought her power was hard to manage. She even went as far as to say that the more people the more powerful the feeling. When she used the phrase 'an entire cinema's worth of people,' Kendra, for some reason pictured her sitting in an auditorium watching a screening of Titanic. That would have been awful. A whole theater of people crying in synchrinistity.
Kendra finished her sandwich and it disappeared. Thankfully it was gone. It would be awful for her to wander in front of a mirror and have her digestive track on display for the whole world. Kendra found herself wondering how it would be to feel everyone's emotions all the time. She could barely manage to manage her own emotions sometimes let alone everyone else's. That time of the month when auntie flow showed up must've been a bitch. She would literally feel everyone else's pain on that one poor gal.
Kendra was a recent resident here. She had just brought her merger belongings in today actually. Tonight was her first night here and already she was wondering why it had taken her so long to hear about this place. Growing up in Georgia a small town girl she kept mostly to herself. She didn't make friends easily. She had a wonderfully bright optimistic personality when she did poke her head out of her shell, but first encounters were always made her a little nervous....
Kendra blinked herself so she was sitting on the counter beside Emily as she was brewing her tea. It smelled wonderful, but she didn't impose herself to ask for a cup. She allowed her legs to hang over the edge and bang lightly against the drawers as she swung her feet. She was leaning back on her hands and absentmindedly tapping her fingers on the counter. She wasn't so shy when she was invisible. Not like anyone could see her unless she wanted them too. "So you sense emotion all the time? Does it ya know alter your state of mind?"
Kendra was curious. She honestly would feel bad if she was having an off day and she literally dumped her problems in someone else's lap just because she was sitting beside them. She wanted to know if she could, because if so she would try to be more chipper around her. Kendra didn't know if manufactured emotion would fool the senses but she certainly didn't want to be a buzzkill.

Emily felt the presence of Kendra shift quite suddenly next to her and nearly jumped, just barley keeping her reaction under wraps. Wow. She was so used to being able to tell whenever somebody was approaching that it was quite a sudden shock. But this must have been the teleporation that Kendra had mentioned to her before. The way that Kendra reacted actually reminded Emily a lot of a video game that she'd once played with her dad late at night.
She took a few moments to digest what the dreamwalker said, she was pretty unsure of what that actually meant for a few moments but put two and two together by the direction of the conversation. She kept herself from muttering a comment along the lines of 'Yank colloquialisms are weird' out loud. She just thought it. Loudly.
Emily took a gentle sip of her tea and thought for a few moments before adding. "That's interesting, so it's just a case of your body is rested, but your mind doesn't need the rest. I imagine if you were trying to cram for exams it would be extremely easy." She wondered what she'd do with that power if she had it. Probably stay up until stupid o'clock playing video games. Because she could do that while asleep. Oh, the possibilities. Kendra's power was freaking cool!
She shook her head. "No. Well. Uh- kind of." She muttered and thought for a moment before replying more coherently. "Well, if there is a large amount of people feeling something it tends to effect me yeah, but I don't shift moods at the whim of people I'm near. Like, if you were nervous I wouldn't just automatically feel nervous around you."
She continued. "And yes, all of the time. Even when I'm sleeping. Or rather, trying to sleep it hits me. Living in the mansion has been a hard adjustment. I've basically got power induced insomnia at this point." she held up her tea cup for show and then drank from it again. Soothing.

Kendra was glad for once she didn't have her camera. She had forgot to hang it from her neck when she went to bed and thusly it was sitting in her room. She could blink upstairs and get it she supposed, but her absence would be sensed by this one. She would know she was gone. Kendra had a odd habit of taking pictures of people she met. She was a freelance photographer and most nights she wandered around the city taking odd pictures. Blinking to impossible locations to get the perfect ordinarily unobtainable snapshot. It was weird perhaps, but it was her thing. She loved taking pictures. She supposed it would be weird to take a picture of a teenage girl in her pajamas drinking tea at 'god-knows-when-in-the-morning.'
She sat on the counter leaning back as far as the cabinets would allow her. She had never really found a productive use of her time when it came to dream walking. It was said that on average people waste 32 years of their lives sleeping if you add all the time up concurrently. That meant, in a nutshell Kendra lived 32 years longer than the average person. If you looked at it in the simplest terms. Netflix and Hulu can only bail you out for so long before you run through everything on the menu. She had a lot of time to kill.
Kendra laughed when she mentioned cramming for exams. Believe it or not she actually tried to do that the legit way, staying awake and doing it fair so she didn't have a leg up on the other kids. "I'm suppos'n you're right." She said to answer her question about studying. The fact was, she didn't really believe that her power was all that useful or practical it was just something that she lived with.
Kendra did smile brightly when she said that Emily was a victim of insomnia. Terrible for her sure, but it also meant she would have someone to hang out with on occasion. They could get into trouble if they weren't careful. This girl seemed like she could get into a bit of it all on her lonesome. Kendra then realized she hadn't even introduced herself yet. "I'm Kendra by the way."
She didn't have a fancy X-Men codename yet. She did however, ask Ghost what it would take to join the team. She would very much like to find a way for her power to be useful somehow. Hell, at this point if someone needed milk she'd probably blink down to the store and grab it for them. Grab the milk and leave the money on the counter. That store clerk would freak the hell out!
Kendra had at a time in her youth been quite the troublemaker. She had even gone as far as breaking into people's houses to explore their homes. Not to steal anything, but to just be nosey. Look through family photos, maybe bum a cigarette off someone who left their pack lying around. She wasn't a bad person just adventurous and nosey. After all, it wasn't like she would be caught doing it.
Kendra was looking right at Emily. "This doesn't bother you does it? Me being all invisible like? I can wake up and come downstairs if'n you'd like." Kendra said in her sweet southern Georgia bell voice. Kendra felt for her. She had brief fits of insomnia herself and hanging out in person was an option. The girl had to deal with sensing people all the time. And yeah, she'd still sense her in person, but at least she could relax. She wouldn't have to rely on her senses to know where she was standing.

Emily morality wise, always considered herself to be living somewhere in shades of Grey. She had mixed thoughts when she saw groups like the X-men going out and doing things. Sure, if she had a power like that. If she had a power that was less of a burden and was better suited to doing things like helping people she might have considered a path like that one, but as it was her power was pretty useless.
Emily shrugged. "Sleep is a weird topic for me. I don't know what I'd do if I had more of it and was rested more of my day, and I don't know what I'd do in your situation truth be told. Probably a lot of floating around sketching things and people whilst unseen. That or play an absurd amount of video games." She chuckled. It could quite easily swing one way or another for her.
Emily had been well aware that she'd not introduced herself or vice versa, she liked to play a little game with new people and wait how long it took them to recognise that they hadn't. Sometimes they never got to the naming stage, especially if it was the shyer guys around the mansion.
"I'm Emily, pleasure to meet you Kendra. Well, to kind of meet you." She took another drink of tea and then shook her head lightly. "I don't mind in the slightest. I can tell where you are and converse with you one way or another, so whatever makes you more comfortable is fine with me." She soothed. Huh. When had the conversation turned to her wanting to make the other girl the comfortable one? She supposed Kendra was pretty likable.

Kendra was covered in a light pink aura that surrounded her body. She felt slightly weightless and floaty and the feeling spread through her like a warmth. She would be tired in the morning regardless of weather or not she woke up so it really didn't matter either way. Still, she assumed the girl would actually like to know who she was talking to. Rather than some blurry shape in a toaster reflection.
It didn't mean she wasn't a clumsy ass fool whenever she tried to walk around. Her feet thought she was too cocky and had to be taken down a peg or two. She tried hopping off the counter. Instead of landing gracefully she rolled her ankle and went tumbling forward. Her hand reached out to catch herself on the kitchen island, but all she managed to do was pull a tray down with her. What followed was a clattering of silverwear and smashing of plates that surely embarrassed her.
When wasn't exactly graceful and earlier in the day she almost knocked an expensive vase off a little table. Luckily she had caught that. Still, she should have known she couldn't make it through the first night without breaking at least something. Kendra sat up in the pile of broken dishes and dirty silverwear. She would have been red as a beat if she could be see and in fact she was. "I'm okay!" She called out. The declearation came out more comedy than she had intended.
Kendra stood up and looked for a broom. She didn't want to leave a mess for someone to cut themselves on with broken glass on the floor. She stole a glance at Emily to see her expression and quickly cast her eyes back down to the task at hand. When she finished sweeping she moved back over and dumped everything in the trash before returning the broom to it's rightful place.
Kendra let out a sigh and apologized for her clumsy ass lack of coordination. She probably didn't have to apologize, but still she did anyways. Kendra pulled her phone from her pocket and started to dial the number to her room. "Well, see you in a sec!" She said as she pressed send on the phone.
The call in her room woke her up. She rolled over and picked up the phone and hung it back up in the cradle. Quickly rolling out of bed she pulled on some pj pants to replace the short shorts. Then she quickly headed down stairs. She moved quickly as she could back to the kitchen and found the broom right where she left it. She saw that she neglected a piece of glass and quickly swept it up. "Who's makin all that racket down here?" She joked. Knowing full well it'd be hard to misplace her southern accent. "Kendra in the flesh." She added.
Kendra went to put the broom back in the closet and nearly tripped again. Yep. Just as clumsy as ever. She offered Emily a nervous smile and promptly put the broom away.

Emily suppressed a laugh when Kendra slid down the counter and made a mess, she certainly wasn't going to clean that up, but she was fairly confident that the disembodied voice would start to clean it up on their own, and it wasn't a huge mess so she certainly wasn't going to stop to offer a hand, she was occupied with sipping her cup of soothing earl grey.
It was weird. Emily could often tell who a person was from their emotions. Obviously if they were experiencing something unusual one way or another it messed with it, but if someone was in a fairly standard mood for them, the mix that she picked up sort of... identified them. And she'd just met Kendra moments before, when she came dashing towards the kitchen and Emily was able to tell it was her. Obviously knowing she was coming also helped.
She smiled as the girl came in, a genuine pleased smile. She seemed nice, like really nice. Emily could get on with someone like this pretty well. "Well it's nice to meet you in person." She replied in a fairly friendly tone.
She suppressed another chuckle at the tripping up and simply returned the smile. "You don't need to be nervous, I don't bite."

She liked it better when she was invisible. Kendra's cheeks burned red with embarrassment. She could teleport and move from place to place no problems. Try walking and suddenly it's like your shoelaces are tied together. Kendra reached up and tucked some loose strands of red hair behind her ear. She was still smiling, though not as nervous now. The embarrassment faded quickly and she allowed herself to relax a little more. Sort of.
It was weird knowing that this girl KNEW she was embarrassed just by sensing it. She could sense emotions after all. If she was a guy, she'd be the perfect boyfriend for someone. Kendra moved about the kitchen with an utter lack of powers now. She couldn't teleport while she was awake, that was a dream trick. So she walked over to the cabinet and started looking for something to make some coffee. It was late, but she didn't think sleep was happening again tonight. She gave that up. They could just sit and be miserable awake together.
-"You don't have to be nervous. I don't bite."
Kendra had to admit that was a little freaky to her. Someone who could always tell what you were feeling. There was no way you were going to lie to her. She'd sense it. Kendra thought as she prepped the coffee maker and found a mug. She was like a human lie detector, and though Kendra didn't plan on lying it was still a little unnerving. She wondered if she was the type of girl to call people on their bullshit. She bet she was. She seemed like she didn't take anyone's crap.
Still, Emily seemed like a sweet girl. She couldn't help but ask at this point. She had been wondering for awhile now; ever since she heard the accent actually. "So you're not from round here are ya? Your parents send you to school here?" She was nosey by nature and sometimes didn't realize if she was being rude by prying to much, but she liked to know about people. Their stories, their history. She wasn't a huge people person when it came to actually talking to them, but she like to know these things just the same. She usually got the information from following them around or being sneaky. She often killed time with the great lost art of people watching. With Emily however, she just outright asked.
She wanted to know if Emily's family knew about her being a mutant and tried to ask it as subtly as she could. Kendra's father found out she was a mutant and he hated her for it. He hated her before that discovery to be fair. He blamed her for the death of her mother. She died during childbirth. Kendra sometimes wondered what her life would have been like if her mother had never died, if she had supportive parents? Parents like this this girl has. Kendra thoughts already drawing conclusions before hearing Emily's answer.
Kendra finished fixing her coffee and moved across the kitchen. She took her coffee mug and held it in her hands as she looked at Emily. Kendra's eyes were soft and concerned. She honestly wanted to know this girl's story. How she got here, what her family thought about her mutation or if they knew at all. People's lives were interesting. A fellow mutants life was often more interesting.

Emily actually giggled at the way that Kendra was reacted to being in her presence in the physical sense was very adorable. She'd have to tease her to encourage this a bit. There was no sense in being nervous around Emily, but a little healthy blushing could never hurt. And she was quite pretty, if Emily was ever attracted to anybody ever, she might have found Kendra to be so.
She chuckled at the comment, still feeling the nervousness coming from the other girl. "What do I need to do to help with your nerves?~" She chirped at the other girl in a teasing, almost musical tone.
She shrugged. "Well, I sent myself here actually." She didn't like the implication that she wasn't old enough to take care of herself, but she suspected Kendra's question resulted from just not knowing how long Emily had been around. "My power got more powerful and harder to handle, so I came somewhere that they could help me, which has so far not really happened." Alcohol though, that worked.
She tilted her head towards the other girl. "What about yourself? I don't think I've seen you around before, when did you get here? Your power doesn't seem too bad, and you're certainly pretty enough to find things elsewhere."

Kendra leaned her rear end against the counter and blew on her coffee to cool it. It was scolding hot. She could feel the heat off the cup and thought about setting it down. She got wrapped up in what Emily was saying however. Kendra listened about her sending herself here to learn to control her power. That was the same reason Kendra came, to get help with her power. Kendra was about to take a scolding hot sip that would have burned her mouth when Emily asked her a question.
-"What about yourself? I don't think I've seen you around before, when did you get here? Your power doesn't seem too bad, and you're certainly pretty enough to find things elsewhere."
It was the question that stopped her. The absurdly hot coffee that was going to burn her mouth was inches from her lips when she paused. Kendra lowered the cup and looked down at her feet. She was smiling. "I just arrived today actually." Kendra said looking up to lock eyes with Emily.
She didn't know how to respond to the last bit, the bit about her being pretty but she was flattered. And blushing again. Socially awkward she never knew what to say when someone out right complimented her. Like she somehow didn't think she deserved the compliment. Kendra did not have low self esteem, but it wasn't a giant bolstering ego either. She thought of herself as nothing special, just someone who's only noticeable trait was her power and even that went unnoticed by most. Kendra set her coffee on the counter without thinking.
Kendra was sure she was going to like it here. Everyone here was nice. Everyone here welcoming. She could be herself here and not have to be ashamed of being a mutant. Though, Kendra had just arrived in New York this morning she hadn't even had the chance to really explore. So far though, the mansion felt more like home than any place she had lived her whole life. "I came here lookin for answers I suppose. I wanted to meet others like me, and maybe learn to get a handle on my powers, see if I could control them. It'd be great to a nice night's sleep for once." Kendra sighed.
She scooped up her coffee again which was still burning hot and brought it to her lips. Right before she burned herself and dropped hot coffee all over herself she paused as a question popped into her head. "Maybe it could be something we could work on together. Findin our off switches?" Kendra wasn't even sure how to begin to go about training your powers but she had to try something. She was so always just so tired.
