The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

UPDATE: In the interest of speed, I'll be keeping these threads to the 2-4 range. For those outside the X-men, I'd like to focus primarily on getting some inter-faction conflict, as such I'll be giving the baddies first consideration for placement. You can still of course voice interest, but be aware that it's not a guarantee.
It's been a while since we did something as a team. So, without further ado, I present to you, your call to the war room. This will be the launch thread for this mission. Hopefully it's an exciting enough prospect to get you guys keen ^_^
The idea:
Two days after The Bridges and Tunnels Bombing left the city reeling, and one day after massive riots swept the country (NYC included) aftershocks are still being felt. Several smaller riots break out through the city. Due to the mutant nature of some rioters, and the losses taken in the previous day's riots, the police call for X-man back up. The X-men split their resources (read: us) into teams to try and minimise the damage.
Mission 1: Cafas & Jude
The Mutant Riot: Rioters in Brooklyn, the area of the city with arguably the highest mutant to human ratio (for some Orderly reason) have gathered, and are headed for Queens. Using powers and weapons they are carving a violent and destructive path to the much more human borough.
Mission Goals: Primary;
Rally and consolidate broken police lines.
Contain and disperse the riot.
Secondary;
Steer the rioters into the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel to contain for the National Guard.
The Human Riot: What started as a peace rally was manipulated and whipped up into a frenzy. Rioters on Manhattan Island have formed something of a large posse, armed and armoured as best they could loot, and are headed for the Mansion. They believe the bridge attacks were perpetrated by Ragnarok, and that Ragnarok is actually the X-men's secret terrorist group.
Mission goals:
Primary;
Rally and consolidate broken police lines. (Amelia)
Make sure the rioters don't reach the Mansion.
Secondary;
Buy time for the National Guard to move in.
Contain and disperse the riot.
Capture or eliminate the inciters. (NPC mutant Ragnarok member with a mutation to influence emotions and thoughts of those that can hear them over time.) Mission 3: Juliette & Ghost
Rescue trapped officers: Several NYPD riot police have been penned up in a large bank branch by mutant rioters. With the recent METAbot issues, the NYPD has called to the X-men for aid. The officers are running low on ammunition, have several injured, and the rioters have the bank surrounded.
Mission goals:
Primary;
Evacuate the NYPD officers. Secondary;
Ensure rioters do not loot the bank.
Capture, or eliminate the rioters.
Mission 4: Cold Steel & Werecat
Search and rescue needs to be conducted in the wake of the human riot. Seemingly more focused on reaching the Mansion than causing devastation (not that they didn't also do that) the human riot has left police and civilians injured, trapped, and stranded behind it. The area is now full of looters and less savoury opportunists, with police left too short staffed to begin search and rescue themselves.
Mission goals:
Primary;
Find, protect, and evacuate police and civilians.
Check on wounded officers who have stopped checking in on radios.
Secondary;
Stop and detain looters.
Detain of neutralise an opportunistic killer reported in the area. (Astrid)
Post below which mission you're interested in. Positions will be filled on a first come first serve basis. If we fill everything and there's still keen X-men, we'll add slots.
Baddies: if you're interested, post too, I'm sure you can be worked in easily as an inciter or general dodgy sort.

CS is up for any of them. Where ever he is needed he will be. Though the prospect of running into any ex-orderlings or Ragnorok is entertaining. So, yes... sign CS up for something with someone at sometime and he shall be sober enough to form coherent sentences!
Juliette could do any of the missions, but might work well for mission 3 in order to tend to the wounded. So, I'll sign her up for mission 3 with whoever wants to do it with her.
Amelia is not formally an xman but hey she is a cop so she could definitely aid in any police related threads. She's currently even in a thread involving rioting after bridges were bombed too!
As a side note she really needs a tryout thread to get on the team. Cs, Juliette, cafas, pm me?
I'd like to get Tempest involved in Mission 1 if possible, primarily as I don't think he'd sit out such a dangerous situation especially in Brooklyn as he spends much time there due to Sanctuary. Considering his varied interactions with the different factions including the X-Men, I think it could make for a good opportunity. Clearly Tempest can be an ally, but he's not an X-Men.
I mean sometimes lightning just hits people and I can't be responsible for that.
Aura could work for the first two. Aura would certainly form or even join a mutant mob killing humans. She might even see it and simply jump in so to speak whatever is needed.
At the same time if Aura knew a human mob was heading for the mansion she would step in to try and help it. She may not like the x-men but she also wont stand by well mutants might be massacred.
on the third, Aura is unlikely to take hostages and and unless the police were mutants would not care.
Aura should be recognizable to anyone on these missions. Any x-mens would know who Aura and isabel and the like are as should police. Her kill count is somewhere over 1000 bodies some which she robbed bones off of and other things and she has killed cops so theirs that.
Tempest, sorry man. I'd suggest having Tempest defending the Sanctuary, honestly. I imagine there's some malcontents at your doorstep using the chaos as an excuse to try and do the place some harm. In this case I just felt it was better to pitch a three person thread over a four person, especially considering Aura is one of the Sanctuary residents (and thus probably for the best if Tempest doesn't know she was involved in this)
Aura is not living at Sanctuary anymore. She moved after the orders collapse. Aura is actually living in a rather posh country club/hotel through blackmail
