The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

All right. One down, one running, and one fumbling for her gun but clearly not as experienced with this sort of situation as she'd been pretending. Guns were only a threat at a distance. Up close, dancing within arm's reaching? A liability at best for most people.
Of course, she theoretically could have been faking the whole thing, but he had yet to come across anyone that experienced and professional in the years he'd been doing this. Just thugs and drunk idiots, sometimes with weapons.
He, on the other hand, did this often enough that he specifically trained for things like disarming people with guns. A hand under the gun itself as he twisted in close, forcing it up and away from anything fleshy, and then both hands to wrench her arm over her head and shoulder. "Wouldn't do anything anyway." Snow didn't bleed, after all. He leaned his shoulder into the woman's back, increasing the pressure on her shoulder and wrist until the gun dropped free.
He kicked it back into the air and caught it himself as he spun away, putting in some extra effort to refresh the snowstorm after the brief inactivity, and checked the gun. "Especially with the safety on." He popped out the magazine and pocketed the bullets before tossing the empty gun down the road. Not like he was going to steal it and give the cops here something to come after him for.
Since when did the girl have a taser? Better than nothing for sure. "You okay?"

Snowflake, huh? "Does everyone think that's new?" He rolled his shoulders, and spoke softly. "I actually have no clue who she is. This is clear enough anyway... and yes." He smiled faintly, as much for the girl's benefit as for her aggressors' discomfort. Easiest time to smile, really, even if the woman was at least used to wearing her gun. More snow, then. "I do." Especially if they all fought like this guy punched.
He leaned around it, adjusted his feet, drew thickening snow along his motion, and drove the heel of his palm into the old fogey's gut, angled to avoid the ribs and instead strike the diaphragm. While that idiot bent over - he'd be able to breathe properly soon enough, but for the moment he was distracted - Aiden spun around him, feet shifting as if in a dance, wrapping himself in flurrying snow and making for the woman with the gun.
He might have good odds of surviving a gunshot, but that didn't mean he wanted to. And if she missed him, and hit the girl? Or some uninvolved pedestrian?

It was certainly strange, knowing his way around but not the smaller stores. And not knowing anyone, even when he thought he recognized someone and dared to talk to them. If he'd gone through that rip without knowing it, his only logical conclusion would be that something had gone wrong in his head, that maybe something hadn't put itself back where it was supposed to be or hadn't come back from being snow at all.
He did know, though, so it was just disconcerting. It didn't stop him from taking some anti-mutant idiot's wallet the day before. Seriously, how did a human ever think it was a good idea to pick a fight with a mutant? He didn't even need to use his powers on them, but they came on their own. Really, as power sets went he scored low on offence. Great on defence, though; between regeneration and snow it took a special sort of thug to do any lasting damage at all.
Well, he'd just think of the money he'd lifted as compensation for time wasted, and use it to kill time somewhere with air conditioning. Like an ice cream store. Like this ice cream store. Which had lots of windows looking out on a not-so-quiet street, despite the lack of people. Just a few middle-aged nobodies.
It was mostly experience with that sort of expression that encouraged him to finish his drawn-out ice cream, and a dose of gut instinct. He dropped the empty paper dish and napkins in the trash and slipped through the door with enough curve to drawn a cooler breeze around himself, and a scattering of stray flakes. Three adults, two male and one female, and a teenaged girl who looked to have clued into her situation. Not a ton of confidence, though, or muscle tone. Unless she was hiding an especially powerful ability, and a good amount of skill with it, it wasn't looking all that great for her.
So he walked up beside her, thumbs loosely hooked in his jeans' pockets and chin raised enough to make slow, quiet eye contact with each of the three humans. Their vitriol had already made their position clear... and the nature of their intent, if not the details. And hey, if his sharply mismatched eyes didn't clue them into the fact that he was also a mutant, the heavy white streaking on the same side as his silver eye would do the trick. Or the snow hanging around him despite the summer heat.
And if they still didn't care, and if him standing there silently didn't dissuade them, and they didn't care about the defined, lean muscle cording his arms, or his loose, mobile, faintly martial stance... well.

Well this was not going anything like he'd planned. It might have helped if he'd planned it more. Still, he hadn't learned nothing. The police weren't chasing him here, if here was any different, so he had an opportunity to go to ground.
So he'd probably be sleeping outside tonight, which wouldn't be an issue if it weren't hot, but there were shaded places everywhere. Nothing complained when he got to his feet, briefly leaning on the wall, and headed in the direction from whence the colourful mutant had come.

After sitting around and ctrl-R-ing for a few minutes, Aiden hauled himself up to make more tea. There ought to have been enough time for the kitchen fridge to have made more ice cubes, at least. Enough for a mug, anyway.
He was in luck, and spent a few minutes steeping tea and fishing out the tea bag and fitting in ice cubes until his mug was just about to overflow. The ice cubes at the bottom melted quickly, though, and he was soon able to creep back to his officially air-conditioned room. Another refresh.
Oh! A reply! He swung into his chair. A couple of links... okay, he'd come across that one at least. Water didn't work as a cooling system that would also be exposed to freezing temperatures, and he was kind of hesitant to use something toxic like antifreeze. His clothes turned to snow too when he shifted, after all, and he had no way of knowing if there was any danger inherent with mixing himself with other... stuff. Not that he was worried enough to avoid mixing with clothing, because going around naked would be infinitely worse than fusing with clothing or something.
Anyway.
<I could probably manage one, but there are some drawbacks. At least in my situation, anyway.
By most people's standards, the temperatures I deal with aren't particularly special, but in the course of my work it can drop below freezing in very little time. So fluid-based cooling systems are... problematic. As for time frame, most of the time a few hours' runtime would be enough, if it could recharge or refill fairly quickly, but there is the potential for extended use. My work can be unpredictable that way.>
Like Alaska. Although that wasn't a heat issue. Or kind of a lack of heat issue, indirectly?
<It also needs to be able to withstand physical impact. Blunt and ideally edged.> Not that he ever planned on getting stabbed, but again, potential. And realistically he was going to get hit sometimes. <Thanks for replying, by the way.>

Olympians? He probably shouldn't voice his hesitation, though, or Iggy would get all flustered and frustrated again. "Mythology really wasn't big when I was in high school, okay. And it's been a few years since I've had anything to do with it."
...
...
"Sam can make frost, but I don't actually push the temperature much below freezing when I work. Just cold enough to snow. This cold is all from the Danger Room." Not that Frost was actually bad as a code name. It just felt... like it wasn't quite the right fit. It implied a different sort of cold association, he supposed. He did snow. But Snow was a really bad code name option. Too short and simple, and too likely to come up in conversation. Potentially distracting.
Hm. He hadn't really put much thought into this in... a long while. When had he settled into not having a formal, fitting code name?

New York. He was still in New York. But was it his New York? How was he supposed to tell, beyond wandering around looking for people or places or things he should know? Would the gym be here as well? What if he hadn't actually gone anywhere, and the police were still there? He'd be walking right into them.
Too much thinking. Between hitting the ground and all of this, his head was starting to hurt. Still, he shouldn't stay in one place, just in case. He needed to find somewhere to...
huh?
He blinked at the colourful mutant. "No...?" Drugs? Would they even stay in his system if he went to snow? Not that he wanted to find out. Drugs were... Well. He wasn't interested, even without getting into all the nasty stuff or the cost or the increase in murdering. "I'm just - er." Was it safe to talk to this stranger? He didn't know anything about them, or this place, although it at least seemed to not be worse to mutants or something would have come up...
"I was... running from some people. I went through... something, and they're gone, but I- I'm not sure this is, er, my New York."

Sssyaslee? Was this place so different that it had a different language? But no, it was just heavily accented English. Nng. Hitting the ground was never really a good idea. How fast had he even been going? Was he bleeding?
No. It looked like he'd at least melted after impact, so everything was intact. Just a little dirtier than he had been. Dirtier and wobblier, but that should be clearing up soon. He rubbed his face and blinked after the... very colourful but also very tall mutant. If anyone wanted to make trouble for a mutant, they'd really gang up before going after this one. And probably be incredibly drunk. Maybe that would go for police too, if he was wrong about not being followed through that thing.
At any rate, this was... an opportunity. Information about this place, if it was a different place, and possibly shelter. He swallowed to clear his throat. "I... I wasn't sleeping." Easy breaths now. "Could you... er..." Why couldn't his mutation to be to just automatically transfer information and requests and questions? Then he wouldn't have to talk. Especially to strangers. And maybe also summer wouldn't be so rough... although then he'd have to worry about cold exposure and hypothermia. He tried again.

Aiden sighed and sort of just looked at Iggy. "I'm not an idiot. Zeus is another god. The top god for that.. group of deities." Slightly better than just claiming to know him, but probably not enough to convince Iggy. "And basically every other one around was either his kid or he slept with them." It was that or try to figure out what he remembered about something or someone springing forth from his forehead, okay? Now it was really time to change the subject.
"Too long," he said automatically, "And unprofessional. Besides, you'll have to beat 'Ai' for comm speed and clarity."
Uh. Had the topic change gone into awkward territory or something? Aiden at least had enough experience with crushing awkwardness to potentially recognize maybe symptoms of it in others, but that in no way meant he had any fricking clue what to do about it. Uuummmmm. Er. Well. "Hey, if you have a clear code name, go for it."

For all that he hadn't spent long as a cloud of snow, it still took a few solid minutes for the inside of his head to get around to achieving a vague level of consciousness again. Or maybe potential consciousness, since there was then a block of sheer bleh.
Eventually, it occurred to him that he was sprawled very uncomfortably, and that there was something uncomfortably hard and pointy under him. Multiple things. He shifted sideways, sort of rolling uncoordinatedly, and found everything to be working. At least his healing factor hadn't given up on him, right?
Ngh. Still disoriented. Where was he? He'd...
No sound of sirens. Good. Didn't sound any different, otherwise. Did it look any different? He hadn't actually seen anything yet, just felt its not-frozen faces. Which were almost as unpleasantly warm to his skin as they had been to his flakes. Why couldn't it have been any cooler? He rolled over a bit more, and finally opened his eyes.
Oh. There was someone there. They were, uh, very colourful. Mutant. Good. He forced himself to focus enough to get his arms under himself, and then to push himself off the ground. Sitting. Much better. Waking up from a backlash-minicoma was never really anything resembling fun, but it did kind of feel like he'd hit the ground harder than usual as well.

Iggy's aim wasn't bad, but Aiden had been training for all sorts of 'combat' for years, and he'd have to be faster, more predictive, and altogether more subtle. He might also have a better chance of hitting Aiden if they weren't in so much snow... and if Aiden weren't looking to risk splitting himself apart by getting hit by a projectile of uncertain properties. Iggy clearly didn't consider it dangerous, but there was a psychological component to the secondary shift (or, rather, it was mostly psychological).
"I've heard the name. I just don't do a lot of mythology stuff." Especially old European mythology. Honestly, right now the first thing creeping to mind at 'Apollo' was 'Apollonius.' Which... did also reference sun. Sort of. In a weird pollinating butterfly robot angel way. ANYWAY.
Iggy's next shot came a little closer to where Aiden was heading, and he rolled sideways to avoid it, briefly vanishing in a rush of snow fluffed up from the ground. Out of the flurries flew a practiced-blind shot. Aiden's eyes didn't exactly work better in snow than anyone else's; he was just usually up against people with significantly less camouflage that himself. "Sounds impressive, but like I said..."

"If it didn't involve the sun, you'd have to be a lot more subtle," Aiden muttered, and lobbed another snowball at Iggy. Even if he seemed to go out of his way to make sure that he got hit in the mouth. See? Weird. Tons of proof that Iggy was weird. "Apollo's a sun god?" Also know as mythology wasn't Aiden's strong suit.
"I really don't know, Iggy. And I'm starting to think I won't recognize it even when you do get around to telling me."

Well, at least he wasn't going for the most obvious. It was still probably something really blunt and tactless, though. "So, what, if I don't guess then you won't tell me?? And then maybe they'd stop all this weirdness.
...
Except then he'd have to go back into the heat. Ugh. "Glowing Solar Weirdo." That was one. "Or Sunspot." Which made him think of a stereotypical pet dog. A mutt with patches of colour. Which had nothing to do with Iggy, except maybe the stereotypical sunniness. "Or Sunny. But people would just think that was your legal name."
