It seemed that she didn’t get the joke or she didn’t find it a joke. Sam raised an eyebrow and tilted his head to the side a little as she sat forward and explained that she needed to unpack and look for a job. Sam lowered his eyebrow and then scrunched his nose in a niff and then asked, ”Bad joke?” Sam asked, she must have been afraid of the dark. Everyone was afraid of something. Sam might have just insulted her without intending to.
”I’m sorry… thought I was being clever.” Sam sat up and put his hands on his knees and then said. ”Needles…” as if his fear would help make the apology more effective. She probably already knew that though considering how they first met.
Sam then leaned forward on his knees and then turned his head and offered a smile. ”I thought you were gonna do some of my paperwork… that means I got some work to do then too, huh…” Sam stood up and then offered her a hand up.

"It wasn't your best," she answered honestly, "but I'm used to it. I suffered through all of middle school and some of high school being teased relentlessly for it, after all." Kids could be cruel, especially if they found out that you were afraid to go into a dark classroom by yourself or slept with the lights on at night. Sam didn't bother her so much, especially after so many years of building up a tolerance to it.
"It's alright," Juliette grinned, chuckling softly as she remembered his fear of needles. The fear of needles was far more common, and a little less embarrassing that the fear of the dark, but it was still something that there was no reason to fear. Juliette knew that there was nothing to fear in the dark, but she had her own reasons to avoid it. "I'm not bothered by it, I just don't want to lose track of time in here."
Since the room had no windows, it would have been easy for her to completely lose her sense of time and spend the rest of the day in there, but she had intended to not waste her entire day.
"Yeah, why don't we start working through that mountain you call a desk?" She grinned. Starting paperwork didn't sound like a bad idea at all. Talking to the Doc could always wait until the next day.

Sam shook his head knowing that Juliette would have no problem helping him with all the paperwork. ”No, how about you go and talk to Doc first.” Sam offered before adding, ”I can get started on the paperwork at least sort it a little and try to organize my desk so it makes things easier on you… I mean us…” Sam flashed a smirk then led the way to the exit of the room. He was going to originally finish the beers grab a few more and then go to the danger room and train but Juliette seemed to be good at reminding Sam he had responsibilities even if she had no idea she was doing it.
The doors opened to his office and Sam entered and he looked at the mountain of papers and his nostrils flared. Sam sighed and walked over to his desk and he set the rest of his beer on the only free spot on it and he turned to smile at her. ”Get back here when you can. I’ll be here waiting.” Sam put his arms on his hips as if he was being incredibly heroic for starting the sorting on his own. ”Let me know how it goes too. I know I need another reason to go visit the infirmary.”

Juliette followed Sam out of the room through the door that had formed in the wall. "Hey!" Juliette hit him lightly on the arm after she heard his slip-up. "Just because I'm going to be helping you out doesn't mean you get a free ride, buddy. You still need to do some of your paperwork."
"Alright. I don't think it'll take me too long," she nodded and kissed him on the cheek quickly. She then smiled at him as a way of saying goodbye, and walked out of the office in the direction of the infirmary.
