The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

PD Linely was waiting at the airport, sniffer dogs were with them. They would be arriving soon. Four police officers had been assigned to him, they looked pretty new to it. One was practically quaking in his boots. The airport was clean, crowds of people were now going to various destinations. They were in the arrivals zone for the UK. A "vanilla human" smuggler he had been told. He was merely supervising as a formality. "First assignment?" He asked the most nervous looking of his subordinates. It was always pretty nerve-wracking, and everyone remembers their first one. "Yeah" "Don't worry, you're going to be fine." The dogs were picking up a scent , quickly, his fellows moved into action following the dogs' noses. Spasm followed up behind, prepared to use his power on the target, should it be necessary. He wouldn't want to have to fill in the paperwork. They soon reached what was making the scent, a middle-aged man in a well kept pinstripe suit. He let the officers arrest him-handcuffed without an issue, and his brown suitcase seized. He looked awfully calm for someone who was about to be arrested. Almost too calm... Linely was a good way away but he still turned away from the suspect so he could speak in relative privacy. "All units be cautious, suspect is exhibiting unusual behavior-" Then a loud shattering sound, cries of his fellow officers . Crowds screaming then. Turning around, Spasm saw dust, his comerades alive but knocked down, and the man running away. Too far away to use his power. He would have to give chase. "Somebody stop that man" He shouted to the nearby people, then down the radio "I am in pursuit of suspect, pin-striped suit, middle aged man, down airport-suspect mutant abilities, exercise extreme caution". He then ran as fast as he could in the suspect's direction.

Sam looked from the gate directory to the fork that was the terminals and then back to the gate he was supposed to meet a potential new teacher at the airport they were British and an English teacher. Too bad that was the most generic thing he could think of, no way this person stood out from anyone else.
Sam’s eye patch was a pretty be clue to who he was he also told the potential new teacher that he had one so the teacher should be looking for him as well so Sam just waited at the directory and looked from flight to flight as he tried to figure out what the number of the flight was. Sam didn’t write it down but he was pretty sure it started with a 3. Shifting into his pocket he pulled his flask and took a swig.
“Somebody stop that man!”
Well he was in the right area a British guy was yelling so Sam turned and saw someone sprinting in his direction. Sam blinked and with flask in hand Sam stuck out his arm at the last minute and lowered his stance clotheslining the guy in a suit sending him to the ground with a loud thud. Sam sipped his flask surprised that actually worked. ”Never clotheslined anyone before… kinda a fan now.” Sam looked to the guy in a pinstriped suit to the man running after him. Sam could make out a few cops and police dogs. Maybe this was some kind of a bust?
Spasm stuttered to a halt as he came upon the scene- and it was quite a scene. The man had been stopped, just in time too, by a passerby no less. He was on the ground, reeling from the attack but still conscious.
"Well done sir! , now I suggest you take a stand back-the guy's a mutant...I think". The suspect was laughing hysterically, his eyes were red, not normal at all. This was really disconcerting , even to someone experienced with such things such as PD Linely. The squad encircled the suspect.
"Sir, you are under arrest for drugs trafficking and assaulting a police officer, you have the right to remain silent..." he was interrupted by the man letting out a loud, deep scream and rush towards the guy that downed him's direction, foaming at the mouth and totally out of his mind.
This was not good. Spasm instinctively tried to reach for the pain the suspect could be feeling...it was taking longer than usual. He was about to collide with the helpful civilian. This was not good at all.

”That’s it? Why does it matter he is a mutant?” Sam asked taking another swig from his flask still pretty pumped he managed a clothesline. Sam watched the police encircle the suspect and charge him for drug trafficking. Sam hoped that the guy wasn’t a mutant because this would be a simple take down but whenever a police officer says the word mutant he had a tendency to cringe due to the hate crimes that had been conducted in the past as if mutant was a derogatory word or something.
The Miranda rights were cut short when the guy Sam clotheslined got up with foam on his mouth and started to yell charging Sam. The air around them got colder as Sam took a step back. When he stepped back his mutation activated further sending a small pillar at an upward angle to intercept the charging man in the chest. ”Let him finish reading your rights, you’re being rude.” Sam said as the officer collided with the ice-mancer.
Ouch. Neither fortunately fell prone as Linely ran into the helpful stranger. Slightly winded , he winced at the pain from the accident though. What on earth had happened? The air felt cold, and appeared to be emanating from...this stranger. The pillar of ice had completely disabled the suspect. He was flash-frozen. Linely looked at the stranger again... straight in the eyes.
"I thought you were going to be in trouble there...I didn't quite realise you could do that" Linely half gasped. "PD Joseph Linely, also known as Spasm" he offered a hand to the mutant. "May I have the pleasure of knowing who just saved our collective backsides?". This guy was a powerful mutant clearly. He might just be able to help in regard to a friend as well.

Sam waved a hand and the ice broke apart into little ice crystals then dissipated leaving a little water behind, ”No, why would I be in trouble? The ice just made it quicker. I would have been fine either way.” Sam said taking a swig from his flask ignoring the fact that he was bumped into.
Taking the hand and shooting a beam of ice at the attackers feet Sam turned to the officer and shook his hand. ”Sorta PD Sam Johnson.” Sam took another swig from his flask and asked, ”So who did I take down?”
The officers were handcuffing the guy as they spoke, he was still foaming at the mouth , still rambling incoherently. "Your average civilian can't flash freeze an assailant like that" Spasm began, this guy was very sure of his powers...almost too sure.
"What do you mean "sorta"PD" are you on the pay roll for the precinct? This guy was drinking a lot from his flask...who was he to judge though? He had done a better job of taking this individual down than Spasm could have done after all.
"We're not sure who you took down, looks like something really unpleasant is going on in his brain. I couldn't use my power as quickly as I should have been able to on him...that's disturbing in the least of it." He paused briefly and asked "Are you with Xavier's perchance?" That would after all make sense, given the power and the "sorta PD" element of his job...

Sam smirked at the word ‘average’ as it left the brit’s mouth. ”Been called a lot of things.” Sam took a swig of his flask then put it in his back pocket and then scratched the back of his head. ”Never average.” he wasn’t sure he liked being called average.
Doing the so – so hand gesture Sam restarted what he had just said. ”Sorta.” Sam thought best how to explain, no he didn’t get paid though he should the amount of work he did for the cities police department, he should have been getting paid a lot. ”No, they don’t pay me and yeah.” Sam snapped his finger at the name of the school. ”With the X-men. Sorta work as a cop sorta not. Sorta.” he said putting the emphasis on the ‘sorta’ again.
”Could be drugs.” Sam said shrugging his shoulders. He knew that people still trafficked drugs into the country or from state to state by means of holding in the body. It was unpleasant to think of but he might have caused something to rupture in the guy when he clotheslined him. ”Awww cool!” Sam said ignoring the crazy guy, ”You have powers too? We need more cops on the team. Less trouble for mutants and cops all around.” Sam said nodding his head. ”What do you do? Eye beams or something?”
Spasm laughed heartily at the suggestion of eye beams "Isn't that in a movie somewhere? I suppose there's someone with practical invincibility and titanium spurs caught in a love triangle between me and a reality manipulator as well..."the plausible deniability those movies gave the authorities was rather useful, he had to admit.
"No , my power isn't that" He looked around for someone willing and not arrested, then just turned back to Johnson. "Are you OK with me demonstrating on yourself? I must warn you, it will hurt" He stretched out with his mind. There was pain here, plenty to pull to the service should he get the OK. Would probably be enough to make Mr Johnson pass out if he pulled the correct one to the surface. Probably didn't want to do that though. Maybe a limb would be more appropriate? "I'm ready to demonstrate if you're willing." Spasm said, coldly.

Sam shrugged, ”Movie, or newspaper.” he remembered that there was a new cop to the force who could melt things with his eyes so he had to keep sunglasses on most of the time. Sam was pretty sure that wasn’t the cop he was talking to now. The way he dismissed it. Sam raised an eyebrow. ”As long as you don’t try and take control of my body. The clones won’t like it.” the ice mancer said flatly. He had trained his ice golems to restrain or kill Sam if his body was hijacked again. He didn’t want to hurt his friends or loved ones ever again. His mutation was now on board with his thoughts.
”I’m used to pain…” Sam pointed to his eye and shrugged his shoulders and bending his knees slightly to absorb anything that was coming his way. It might have not been the best idea to do it in the middle of the airport but Sam was curious now. ”Let’er rip.”
((OOC, Pain attack-category 5, Spasm is using forced recall to make Cold Steel feel the sensation of a broken bone . Echo allowance used 2.5/10))
"Don't worry, I have no way of taking control of your body, at least, not in the way I think you mean." Linely assured him. Come to think of it, there was some mention of a guy that could shoot eye beams from HR. Was a useful power Linely supposed.
Hmm...it seemed this fellow had awful pain in his left leg from a while back. That would do, not enough to hurt the man significantly, but enough to properly demonstrate his abilities. "You will feel a crippling pain in your left leg-not sure how you managed that, but I can guess..."
He reached out and pulled the pain to the surface, he was going to ache for a while after this one. The echo of the pain hit him, a dull ache rippled through his nerves. He merely flinched slightly at it, and looked to the X man's reaction.

”Who knows?” Sam said with a shrug he had been broken so many times he wasn’t sure where it came from. Maybe when he was killed? There was a knife or a bullet hat went through his leg causing the bone to shatter but it could have been from a number of things. Sam nodded his head and braced for the pain.
His leg flared up with pain and it caused him to drop to his one knee. So he was a pain manipulator. Sam slapped his hand on his not really injured leg and he grunted as he tried to stand. He took it slow as his nostrils flared and another grunt. He was back up on his feet and stared the pain mancer down. ”two story building.” he recalled the incident. ”Landed funny on my leg. Had to use ice to control it.” Sam grunted. His power reminded Sam of Garret a former resident at the mansion, though his powers weren’t just pain. It was nerve related.
Sam shook his head and reached into his back pocket producing a flask. Taking a long swig of it he shook his head again. ”Could come in handy for apprehending someone. What if they never got hurt?”
The X Man's nostrils flared as he tried to stand, he had to give the man credit, most people weren't trained to withstand such pain. He was now staring down at him, clearly this guy liked to show that he was tough. The fact that there had been deeper pain. Whole body. Linely could have knocked him out entirely, and Sam knew it as well. But that wasn't good for conversation. Sam was afraid-and being proud enough to conceal it. Linely did not flinch at the man staring down at him, but rather maintained a cool , but kindly expression.
"If they hurt me, I can make them feel my pain as well, and everyone has felt pain before. Sometimes it's a childhood memory that I've brought up from what I'm told. Even if I have to make them feel mild indigestion, I will do that. I'm working on extending my abilities to..." He paused for a moment and then changed the subject. This guy didn't want to hear the entire life story of his mutation "and yes it has been useful in apprehending criminals, very useful indeed."
He turned his attention back to the man that was still frothing at the mouth like a dog. "Now what I want to know, is what kind of drugs can make an otherwise normal human being go savage and be able to shatter handcuffs and rabidly charge innocent people? Anything sound familiar to you?"

The pain was starting to subside but Sam took a step back anyways just so there wouldn’t be another incident. Sam really didn’t want to see the extent of the brit’s powers right now. He had too much pain stored up from years of his suicidal life style. He lived through all that pain once, he didn’t need to do it again. When Linely started to talk about what he was trying to do with his powers it caused a smirk to surface. The way he described his abilities was the way a child would. The same way Sam described his abilities. It was something to constantly work on.
”Interesting.” Sam commented on Linely’s abilities, they were that and dangerous if he decided to use them for less upstanding purposes. Something Sam might have to deal with at some point if it ever arose. There was a time when Sam didn’t worry about this, now it was everyone he was meeting.
A few combination of drugs came to mind, if he was drugged up enough anything could cause him to do that but the way the guy was frothing and struggling it almost looked unnatural. Sam raised an eyebrow, ”Could be ‘M’…” Sam said without much thought he pushed his sixth sense forward towards the guy in cuffs to see if his body was going through any other abnormalities. The air got colder around them and all the officers including Linely became more apparent to Sam. Their body heat all regersting normal to Sam. The guy in cuffs however wasn’t normal. His body temperature was way too bright for a normal human. Either he took a dose of ‘M’ giving him some sort of abilities or he was a mutant to start with meaning that he just took some normal drugs.
”He’s getting warmer.” Sam pointed to the guy in cuffs. ”You might want to get him out of here quickly or start clearing the area. Might get dangerous.” his mutation kicked forth some more cold air towards the guy in cuffs trying to lower his body temperature.
Seeing Sam smirk knowingly at his mentioning of his mutation gave Linely great comfort, it was good to see that he was not the only one that strove to become stronger. The X-man found his powers interesting? Well that was also good to hear, even though the tinge of concern in Sam's eyes gave away that he was still slightly afraid.
Sam turned his attention to the rabid man, and at the mention of "M" Linely gulped. That stuff was really nasty, addiction to conventional drugs was almost pleasant compared to that."M" was nasty stuff , he'd had to clean up people from it before, and it was always messy. Linely felt the air go cold...
Then came a dire warning from Sam, it was going to get dangerous. Getting him out of here was not going to be easy. Better to clear the area , sure a few people would have cancelled flights, but honestly, compared to what an overly-drugged up "M" user could do to them, they'd thank him later. He went onto the radio.
"PD Linely, execute an evacuation order on the airport, we have an "M" user about to go into meltdown , all civilians and unnecessary personnel are to leave the area as quickly as they can." He turned back to Sam.
"You count as necessary personnel now, I seem to remember something about body temperature to do with "M" and you can make things cold, if you have any means of helping us get this guy somewhere he can't do any damage, then that would be good too."
