The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

(OLD) The Anarchist's Guide to the End of the World
Imagine a world where there is no such thing as a species divide. Imagine a world where we can rise above petty things like materialism and discrimination. Imagine a world where we can start over and build our planet anew.
That summarizes the ideals of Ragnarok - a new faction, led by the mysterious leader known only as Loki who speaks through Ambrose Jaager's alter ego Jörmungandr, intent on not taking over the world, but on ending it. Legend has it that the world will end in a great event called Ragnarok, which will lead to the death of all the gods and the flooding of the world, and everything will be reborn to start again and build a new and improved creation. Ragnarok seeks to bring about this rebirth, but in order to do so, they must see to the world's death first.
And that is where you come in.
While the faction will not be a constantly functioning team, so to speak, individuals are encouraged to wreak havoc whenever possible as long as Ragnarok is not compromised but takes credit. You may be called on to assist in the rebirth of our world if needed, but do whatever you wish otherwise. Just remember - there must be fire before something can rise from the ashes, and it is our job to strike the match.
(Note: While all of Ragnarok's members claim that their leader is Loki, Loki does not exist. It is merely to throw off the authorities in a chase for someone who doesn't exist, and since Ragnarok cannot die if lead by someone who will never die, since he is an idea.)
Ragnarok Employees: NPC character sheets here. Madeline Brass - Terrifyingly effective personal assistant and white tiger mutant. In Ragnarok she is known as Nidhoggr. If you want to use Ragnarok equipment, you have to go through her. Marian d'Souza - Front desk secretary with photographic memory. Grand master of elevators and thus dictates who gets to enter the underground Ragnarok HQ and who goes up to the corporate levels. Can throw darts like a boss. Cail Rendfur - Ragnarok's "Danger Room," and goes by Garmr. Cail can conjure up and control negatives - darkly-tinted, intangible to all but the original person doppelgängers of characters - allowing people to spar against themselves and see what they're doing wrong. British and a fussy clean freak who can usually be found wandering the halls of the base.
How to Join:
Being a part of Ragnarok is better than not being part of our vision of the future, after all. Membership can be earned by contacting a present member of Ragnarok, or by catching the attention of our esteemed leader, Jörmungandr. Once you have been deemed worthy or disposable yet useful, you will be granted a codename and access to a liberal amount of spray paint, for impromptu logo graffiti-ing. Loyalty is optional. If you want to be part of our vision for tomorrow and are willing to destroy to get it, you will be welcome. The only thing that is looked down upon is threatening the sanctity of our vision. Then, we will cut no corners to ensure your fate is the same as the rest of the world's unworthy. Just earlier. And more painful.
Ragnarok accepts everyone who can find them and prove themselves, and is very much well-known to the public. Unless they have been clued in IC or their player has given permission OOC, it is safe to assume that your character will not know whoever is behind the mask of a Ragnarok member, as most will not go public and will wear masks when assuming their alter ego. This does include Ambrose Jaager - the public will see him as a non-Ragnarok-affiliated mutant, the general criminal underworld will (with some effort) discover that he is Ragnarok-affiliated but will find nothing indicating that he holds a position of any significance, members will know that he is Jörmungandr, but only a few people who have been specifically clued in will be aware that there is no Loki and Ambrose is the true leader of Ragnarok.
Jaager Worldwide Headquarters (JWHQ, or just JW):
The JW building may seem like one of the hundreds of skyscrapers that dot New York's skyline, but two things stand out. One, it's a lot taller, thank you very much, and the best-looking. Two, although significantly less obvious, JW boasts a secret underground network of tunnels and rooms beneath it, which connect to various abandoned subway tunnels for easy mobility. We do have a soundproof, impact- and most elements-resistant combat room, and although we don't have access to Danger Room-level tech, we have Cail Rendfur (check Staff) who functions as our Danger Room. In general, the place is a maze unless you know your way through, and the ventilation system is the only real shortcut, but those are blocked with laser gates that sense movement and will set off alarms if they detect anything. It has a rather sterile feel to it, with every hall looking the same, making it very easy to get lost. Cameras are always watching (and by extension Panu is always watching), so don't even consider trying something. If one camera goes down, or the security of the base is compromised in any other way, the entire base goes under lockdown, not unlike a nuclear bunker.
Most hallways are barracks or armories, with one mass computer bank in the middle that is impenetrable, as in the only way in is through several layers of security (ocular scanner, fingerprint scanner, etc.). The individual rooms are clinical-looking, decently-large rooms with cots and a bathroom off to the side - think a hotel room, but a lot cleaner. If Ambrose allows them, some members may also stay in the Jaager Manor, which is Ambrose's personal home, but that is rather rare and most will be given a room in the base's barracks instead. The garage is directly aboveground, but is questionably more well-guarded than the base itself as it's not underneath a ton of dirt and concrete. It contains a fleet of cars, all decently expensive, but the really expensive ones are kept at at Ambrose's manor, as are the jet, personal helicopter, etc. The company helicopters and jets are on an airfield a bit upstate, but there is a landing pad on the top of the building where two or three helicopters are usually parked. (It is highly advised not to use JW helicopters for Ragnarok things.)
Basic Security: Underground Base Security
Under quite a bit of concrete - only way down is heavily fortified and protected elevators and doors, and the only way to get through those is for a confirmed Ragnarok member to let you through
Need to get past Marian and Cail, the first of whom mans the elevators and the second of whom mans the entrance
Note: if under attack, Marian will immediately notify Cail, who will proceed to defend Ragnarok HQ to the best of his considerable ability
Heavy anti-mutant weaponry inside - some are loaded with malfunctioning versions of JW's mutant cure, which will do whatever you choose to your character's powers - cause them to briefly fizzle out, go crazy, or does nothing (as mentioned, the cure does not remotely work but would throw mutants off)
Everything is recorded, and the weapons are all on an offline server that only Panu can access, so hackers can give up now
There will usually be a few generic Ragnarok NPCs hanging out, who will also proceed to defend the base
Jaager Worldwide Security
Well-trained, well-armed, very large security force
Everything is being watched and monitored
Basically, imagine trying to break into the Chrysler Building, and multiply the difficulty by four because there's a secret anarchy faction below
Issie is here for all your snake jokes and overcompensation jabs.
Chaos is so up her alley, though since she's an Orderling at heart, it'd probably be more of a spy for her primary faction while simultaneously having fun destroying stuff sort of thing.
Y'know, provided Mr. Mom doesn't find out and ground her.
I’m just a well-adjusted gal who likes to leave a serious amount of mayhem in her wake.

Jiri - so close. So, so close. Aura and Justin - I'm sure that Ragnarok will be around wreaking havoc for your chars to participate in, so the plots are most definitely going to happen. Scorch - Definitely yes. If you'd like to set up a recruitment thread, we could do that once we've finished the "fun and games" thread so the timelines don't get messed up. Issie - Finally. Ragnarok would not be complete without your sass. When you're ready for a recruitment thread, just PM me and we could set that up. Víctor - Yesss. Fafnir is the best name for Víctor. If you wanna make a new recruitment thread, we could do that after our current one, or just make the one we're doing now into the recruitment thread. Panu's probably going to know Ambrose's identity, and by extension (because Víctor would be ultimate mother hen), Víctor would know too, so we can do that.

Carrick and Giant's Bane might find this more fun than anything. Giant's Bane would be more interested in any profit to be had while Carrick would just be in it for the fun.
*CS sighs that there are more people causing trouble*

CS - If you're up for a recruitment thread, then PM me, because GB and Carrick could definitely be initiated. CS would also be involved to some degree, I'd think, as the leader of the X-Men, so there could be some plots there. Alex - Now that Jiri has achieved her goal after that sheer insanity that was trying to get there, would you be up for a thread once you've finished yours with Panu? We could have it as another test, except Víctor asks about Panu, and the recruiting could start there. Scorch - This is the OOC recruiting thread so I can gauge interest and start IC recruitment threads with people who want their chars to join. I'm also going to start some Ragnarok missions soon, so those will also be available as potential places to get recruited.
I'm curious about something. How does Ambrose balance the anarchy of Ragnarok and running a business (since businesses are rather orderly things)? Does he really want to destroy what he created?
