The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

As she cuddled closer to him, Kaz leaned in and stole a long kiss. "Wouldn't you," He tapped her nose with his finger, "Like to know. It is MY head after all." Chuckling he ran a finger down her spine, "What kind of incentive do I have to tell you?" Kaz kissed her twice more, though these were short and quick.

Nicki kisses Kaz slowly, making a small groan of protest as he pulled away from their lengthy kiss. She pushed her forehead against his as he binked her nose.
"And here I thought the kiss was going to be incentive enough..." Nicki smiled, closing her eyes and leaning in, kissing Kaz again. She smiled as she pulled away (after quite a few seconds) and looked back up towards those red eyes. "I guess you don't have to tell me..." Nicki smiled "S'just kinda weird not hearing anything coming from your brain I guess" Nicki shrugged.

"Well, that was no fun. I thought you might more of a fuss about it." Kaz winked at the girl. "Kisses aren't incentive, kisses are fun." Chuckling. "I was just thinking about the future. Nothing all that big. House, kids, job if I ever get one. Ya know stuff like that." As he spoke he looked directly into Nicki's eyes. He gave her a wink before leaning back on the bed.

Nicki chuckled, hitting Kaz in the stomach lightly and settled back against him lightly. She breathed deeply, thoughts whirling around. Nicki was thinking so hard and most of the things popping up in her head weren't things she wanted to ask. But there was one thing she couldn't stop from saying...
"Do you think all humans should be killed?" Nicki asked.

Kaz had gotten use to Nicki's play hits. He found it to be cute, fitting her personality. The way she was acting he could easily tell there was a lot going on in her head. <Damn, love to be a telepath about now.> With her this close, even with all the other things going on in the building and in the world, he couldn't help but think about touching the girl, running his fingers across her skin, memorizing her every inch. Inwardly, Kaz gave himself a curious look. <What the hell are you thinking about?! And at a time like this?> He couldn't help but chuckle inwardly. Though Nicki's next question caught him completely off guard.
He gaped at the girl, at the bluntness of her question. He was truly surprised and for a long moment he didn't know what to say to her. Sighing, he figured he'd at least TRY and answer her. "...Ah...hmm....Yes..no...." Taking a breath, "That was something I didn't expect you to ask...ever. Where did that come from?" More to himself than to her. "I won't deny I detest most humans. They're ignorant and stupid. I'd like to compare them to animals, but I feel I'd be insulting the animals. They serve their purposes, and have their place. Just like anyone. I wouldn't say I want them dead. That would mean I would have wanted my fionce dead. And I never would have wished that, not for all the world." Kaz pushed the thoughts and feelings about that matter down and away. They had been locked up before recently, though he needed to deal with it at some point, now was not the time. "There are decent humans. Humans like your mother." He looked pointedly at the girl. "Who are perfectly fine. Who I could deal with easily. Besides," Kaz paused for a more dramatic effect, "Without her, you wouldn't be here." He smiled at Nicki. Kaz truly hoped she would understand what he was trying to say. She had put him on the spot, and with a subject he hadn't dealt with often.

Nicki listened and thought; mostly listened. She could understand what Kaz was saying...a lot of mutants would say the same things. Humans hard hurt mutants on a fairly regular basis and to be completely trusting of all humans was as stupid for mutants as it would be for other humans.
Nicki felt better as Kaz explained everything. He didn't hate people: he hated ignorance and violence, and Nicki totally understand that and she could even understand being moved to violence over it something like this. It made Nicki feel better to know that Kaz didn't have a blanket hatred for people...just for the stupid ones.
She settled closer to Kaz (if that's at all possible). "You didn't tell me you had a fiance" Nicki commented.

"You didn't tell me you had a fiance." <Oh great she had to say something about it. Why did I even say anything.> Kaz inwardly grumbled grumpily to himself. Taking a deep breath before he attempted to say anything about the subject. Pushing the emotions down so he could speak, "Yeah, in my senior year of high school we met, and hit it off." Kaz smiled when he remembered the girl. "Judy Rose." He said quietly.
"We dated through the year. Towards the end, a few weeks before gradation, I proposed." A tear welled up in his eye. "She didn't care that I was a mutant, she never had. I had gotten an apartment, to live away from home, 'cuz I couldn't stand being there any longer. It wasn't long after school was out," Kaz swallowed as the tear in his eye fell down his face, another one quickly welling up, ready to fall.
"On her way home from my apartment, to get some things to stay the night. She was going to move in the next day. I was fixing up the place so I didn't go with her." His teeth clenched as he spoke. "She only lived two blocks away! We lived in a decent area, low crime of any sort. She was mugged, raped and murdered! 100ft from the apartment stoop." The tears were free flowing now, he couldn't hold them back. Though his voice stayed the same, there was a strained tension in it. "Three months! September 12th. Not only was she taken from me, but so was the baby. I didn't know she was pregnant, three months. They never found who did it, or why they were so brutal."
He couldn't look at Nicki, he didn't want her to see the unchecked emotions steaming off of him, but he couldn't pull away from her. "Her ex, I'm sure he did it. He knew what I was, he hated me for it. He hated that she left him for me. I vowed if I found out who it was, I'd make them suffer 1000x more than what she did." Seething anger in his voice. "I never got any evidence....so I could never do anything to bring her death justice."
One half of Kaz face was twisted in hatred, anger and revenge, the other was weeping, crying in pain. Kaz knew, this along with certain other events had truly created Sarrus. His eyes were closed, he suddenly looked defeated. "I couldn't face her, after failing to protect her. I couldn't go to her funeral." He trailed off, his words becoming mere whispers.

Nicki stared at Kaz as he unburdened himself, explaining the whole situation, not even attempting to hide the fact that he was crying for the girl. Nicki was moved. Nicki was crying.
As he finished the story, Nicki did the only thing she could think to do: she sat up and pulled Kaz into a close hug, holding him as he cried. "She didn't blame you Kaz, I know it. She loved you, she never could have been so angr-" Nicki's voice cut out on her as she cried. She quieted, stroking Kaz's hair. "She didn't blame you Kaz." she whispered again.

Kaz let himself be taken into Nicki's embrace. Weeping openly, something he had NEVER done. Kaz never cried, not in sadness, or joy. It was something completely foreign to him, but totally natural. He didn't even try to stop the tears. Kaz barely registered Nicki's words, at least consciously, subconsciously however, they soothed him. The way she stroked his hair, the way she was so caring about him, he had never known that feeling, the warmth, the love, the care. Though he made little sound as he wept, his tears began to soak Nicki's shirt. Years of pain and anguish, years of unshed tears streamed out.
Many minutes passed before Kaz calmed down, a thought came to him <Maybe it's time to let the hair go...> Almost as if on cue, strands of long hair began to fall as he lifted his head up. Kaz couldn't believe what he had just done. He shook his head slightly, for which more hair fell, not a lot, but more than just a few strands. His voice was small and quiet, the whites of his eyes were nearly as red as his irises. "Sorry."

Nicki kept stroking his hair, shushing softly as she held him. He was crying harder than she had ever seen anyone cry before...it was like this was the first time he had performed the act. Nicki held him tightly, letting him pour out.
Kaz pulled away, shaking some of his hair loose. Nicki was slightly concerned about that but it seemed like he was okay with it, so she just kinda ignored for a moment.
"You don't have to be sorry for anything Kaz. I'm glad you felt comfortable enough to have that happen. I'm glad to be able to help you in anyway I can" Nicki took his hand and kissed the back of it lightly. "Don't apologize okay..." she asked, looking up at him lightly. "I'm glad you did that"

Kaz only nodded when Nicki told him he didn't need to apologize. Though he still felt stupid, vulnerable, and weak. But at least it was her, anyone else, and he would probably feel like killing them for putting him in this position. Kaz finally noticed the strands of hair that had fallen from his head. His shoulders jumped slightly as a small chuckle came out. Reaching over, he grabbed the cane, and pulled out the sword from it. Running his hand through his hair, he collected a bunch of it in his fist, pulling the strands tight, he raised the blade just behind his fist, and sliced upwards, cutting the silver strands from his head. Dropping them onto the floor, he repeated this process a few more times, until his hair was less than half its original length. The cuts, and lengths of his hair was uneven and choppy, but he felt more than just the weight of his hair lift from his shoulders. Silently he wondered if Judy would forgive, understand, and accept what he was doing.

Nicki watched, slightly impressed as Kaz pulled the sword out of his cane. Even in this odd moment, that was just cool.
As Kaz started to cut at his hair, Nicki wrinkled her forehead slightly. It didn't take her spiffy new power to realize that this was clearly a symbolic gesture. While Nicki was a little concerned about his safety (he was hacking off large parts of his hair with a ridiculously long blade) she quieted her internal voice and watched him hack at his silver hair.

Kaz's attention seemed to focus on the present, as he flipped the blade. Bringing his hand down, he imbeded the blade into the floor, when he let go, it stood straight, three inches of it were now in the floor. He held the last lock of hair he had cut off. Twisting them, he used a few strands to tie the hairs together, this bunch he would keep. His hair was rather short now, and looked fairly messy. "Heh," Looking at the floor, "I guess I sorta made a mess." Kaz's previous breakdown seemingly lost from his face. "I, hope I didn't freak you out at all. Ya know, with my sudden, crazy, chopping of hair."

Nicki's eyes went wide as Kaz slammed the blade into the hardy floor, making it stay. That was the first time Nicki actually showed her surprise.
"Nah, not freaked. I'm sure that was very symbolic and you actually look quite cute with chopped up silver hair that's damned near at your ears. Although, I will admit, if I didn't know you were good with a blade I would have been worried about you hurting yourself." Nicki smiled, looking at Kaz sheepishly. "You...are okay right?" Nicki asked, unable to tuck all her concern away.

"...quite cute..." At her comment Kaz began to shake his head back and forth, freeing any loose strands and feeling his shorter hair move. <So odd.> Kaz chuckled. "I could teach you how to use a blade..." It was an honest offer, if she wanted to and was up to it. He had to think for a moment if he was actually alright. "I...should be fine. I've never cried before..." He made a half embarrassed chuckle. "Or been shown compassion and care like you showed me, save for one person." A glint in his eye, and the lack of emotion from the reference showed that Kaz wasn't completely himself. Sarrus was holding back the emotions so Kaz could function normally. "Thank you." Kaz leaned over, hugging Nicki, drawing her into a deep kiss.
