The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Nicki smiled as Jupiter left the room, looking to Kaz. "He's actually not as scary as I thought he was before..." Nicki trailed off, looking down at her hands.
She was so confused. If the X-Men were the good guys, wouldn't this group be the bad guys? Was she really identifying with what they had to say? Was she really understanding their ideas? Were they really the bad guys? Maybe it wasn't that black and white...
Nicki sighed again, squeezing Kaz's hand that layed in her lap. "Thank you. Thank you for bringing me back to reality, thank you for telling me the truth and thank you for caring about me" Nicki almost whispered as she kept her eyes trained on the hand in hers.

"He's actually not as scary as I thought he was before..." Kaz laughed slightly at her comment. "No, he's not. He may look like something out of a comic book," Kaz looked towards the door before returning his gaze to Nicki, "But he's got a big heart, all seven of him. He actually rescued quite a few kids." Kaz smiled when he thought of Abyss and the kids.
Kaz honestly didn't know what to say to Nicki's words. Anything he could think of seemed like it would lessen her words. Instead, Kaz lifted her hand, and kissed it, looking into her eyes all the while. Kaz sat on the bed next to her and put his arms around her, protectively and comforting.

Nicki rested her head on Kaz's shoulder. She cleared her mind again, turning her cold blue eyes to Kaz's blood red ones before putting her head back on his shoulder.

Kaz looked into her blue eyes and couldn't help but smile. "Thank you for trusting me..." Kaz responded by smiling and planting a kiss on Nicki's head. The two of them sat for a bit, Kaz gently rubbing Nicki's arm with his thumb.
After a bit Nicki and Kaz shifted positions to lay on the bed, Nicki resting her head on Kaz's chest. It was quiet except for their breathing, which seemed to synchronize after a short time. Kaz felt a peace that he hadn't felt in a long time. Time passed, how much time, he couldn't tell, no clock was in the room, though Kaz was sure at least an hour or two. He was quite sure the guys that came for the tour were long gone by now. Not wanting to disturb or upset the girl, he hesitated to say what was on his mind. Finally he decided it would probably be best. "Nicki?" His voice was soft, if she had fallen asleep, he didn't want to wake her. When she showed signs of being awake, he continued his thought. "I have a feeling I won't be able to stay at the mansion for much longer..." His voice was still soft and quiet, though he trailed off and became even more quiet and soft spoken.

Nicki looked up at Kaz a little before looking back down and continuing to rub her thumb gently over his shoulder blade. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised..." Nicki sighed. "But...I mean...you don't have any information do you? Aren't you leaving kind of early?" Nicki almost wanted to hit herself for saying that.
Why was she trying to convince Kaz to stay in the Mansion? In all honesty, it was probably better for him to leave. Did she want him to stay because she liked him being around? Did she want him to stay because maybe she thought he was right about the X-Men? Maybe it was just because she was so still so disoriented she didn't want anything else to change for a while.

Kaz shifted slightly so he could look at the girl laying next to him easier. "No, no info yet. Though if those guys really were here for some ulterior motive then I could easily be found out." Sighing he paused for a few moments collecting himself. "Yeah, I probably would be leaving early, but if other things fall into place...I don't think it would be very safe for me." Stroking Nicki's hair, "I don't want you to worry or concern yourself with this too much, I just figured it'd be best to tell you it was a possibility, before anything actually happened."

Nicki scoffed a little, looking up to Kaz again. "You really think there's a chance I'm not going to be worrying or concerned about this? I mean...come on Kaz" Nicki chuckled a little again and looked down, pushing a little closer to him. "I care about you. I care about you a lot. There's no chance that I'm just gonna put it out of my head."
Nicki was quiest for a moment, before whispering, "If you leave the Mansion am I still gonna see you?"

Kaz laughed slightly at Nicki's response. "I didn't think so. I didn't say so, just that I don't WANT you to." Laughing a bit more, but not too much, he quickly stopped. As Nicki moved closer to him, he pulled her in a bit more on his own. He might have missed what she said if he hadn't been paying attention. "If you leave the Mansion, am I still gonna see you?"
Kaz looked down at the girl, "I'm not the one who has to make that decision." To Kaz, it was all up to Nicki.

Nicki sighed, somewhat heavy as she pushed closer all the more. "Of course I still want to see you Kaz...you know that..." Nicki looked up at him. "But I'm also not dumb. You know there's more to it than what I want and what you want huh?" Nicki shook her head. She could read the subtext. It was there to be seen. Nicki knew that this meant she would be seeing him in secret and that it was possible that she might even be seen as an enemy of the people who had taken her in if something ever happened. Nicki kissed gently over Kaz's heart.

Kaz could only nod as Nicki spoke. She caught on quick, like he thought she would. He wouldn't force any option on her. He could see the gears working in her head when he looked into her eyes. He could tell she understood all that it might mean if she did so. A thought did enter his head, that he hadn't thought of before. "You know I still want to see you Kaz."
It came out before he had a could even think to stop from saying it, "You...could live here...."

Nicki's eyebrows lifted a little as Kaz extended the invitation for her to live with him. She thought about it for a moment.
"I'm not gonna leave the Mansion...yet" Nicki added. The idea of staying with Kaz didn't sound terrible to her, but at the same time she wasn't ready to leave the Mansion. She wasn't sure it was the wrong place for her...and she knew it was the right place for her for the moment. "I appreciate the option and I hope the offer stands for a while...I might end up taking it sooner than I would have previously thought" Nicki smiled, looking up at Kaz.

Though Kaz hadn't intended the offer how Nicki took it, he didn't correct her. Honestly, he hadn't thought of living with the girl. But as he did think about it, he kinda liked the idea. He wouldn't pressure her, it wasn't his way. <Let people make their own mistakes.> He thought a moment about his choice of words, and inwardly chuckled. Kaz nodded slightly as Nicki spoke. "I don't see why it wouldn't." He spoke about the offer standing for a while. He was curious about her last comment 'sooner than I would have previously thought', though he didn't ask about it and decided to drop it. Instead he smiled sweetly to Nicki.

Nicki looked up at him, returning the warm smile. "You know, I blew a fuse. I can't pick up what you're thinking about right now so if you have something on your mind young man, you might as well say it" Nicki smiled and pinched his side playfully, trying to steer the conversation along. She was still exhausted and felt as if her brain was melting (that and she had really started to enjoy the feeling of having her power flow and was sad to have it gone) and she knew that Kaz was holding out on her...she had read enough about body language to get the idea.

Kaz chuckled out loud when she spoke. "Hmm...maybe its a good thing you can't get what I'm thinking." He twitched a bit when she pinched his side lightly. "I might get scoffed at, slapped, or looked at like I'm a total weirdo." Kaz gave the girl a sly smile before poking her side.

Nicki chuckled slightly, poking him again as she looked up. "Oh yeah Mister? Thinking something bad?" Nicki laughed again, this time a little more hardy as Kaz poked her, ticklingher substancially. She smiled and cuddled closer to him. "Seriously though...what's goin on in that brain of yours?" Nicki asked, getting a few more chuckles out of her system and settling down a little.
