The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Nicki lifted her head slightly, squinting as she shook her head slightly. "Kaz?" she put her head down, completely taken by the pain. "I knew there was something wrong with you...well, not you you but you old guy you" Nicki shook her head again and quieted. "I really need some water, before I overload...I was absorbing too much information that I couldn't figure out" Nicki requested. As Kaz brought the cup over, she struggled to sit up an managed to take a sip. The voices were gone and she was feeling a bit better.
"What are you doing dressed like that? Why were you pretending to be someone else?"

Kaz helped Nicki sit up to drink the water and sighed when she asked the questions he knew were coming. "I guess we both have questions we'd like answered." He laughed an almost nervous laugh. Sitting on the bed, turned towards her, though still giving her plenty of room. "To put it simply. I can't have those guys know who I am." Looking away and to the floor slightly, "Honestly, I would have prefered for you not to know either." Shrugging and looking back at her. "Once I saw you here, I knew it was only a matter of time before either I slipped or you figured it out. It seemed I slipped." Chuckling forcably. "What ARE you doing here? How did you know about this place anyway?"

Nicki furrowed her brow, trying to figure out everything Kaz was explaining. She sighed again, licking her lips. "Look, when we were hanging out I kept getting this word. Sanctuary. I didn't think anything of it because I was having a fun time being with you. When you left I realized how I knew the word: the this place had gone public and I figured that this was something important to you...I just...I just wanted to know more about you Kaz..." Nicki looked up, pulling on her ear slightly as her cheeks flushed slightly, the red standing out harshly against her paled skin.

Kaz listened to Nicki's explination, sighing when she finished. A small smile played accross his wrapped face. "Thanks. That means a lot to me." His thoughts drifted a bit. "I guess it never sunk in that Sanctuary went public a bit ago. I've been here for a while before then." Leaning over he kissed her forehead. "You really don't look well. How are you feeling?" He was deflecting and it was fairly obvious. Nicki was being so honest with him, he felt bad for doing the same. He wanted to tell her everything, but didn't know if he should. What he was involved in, most people, human and mutant alike wouldn't approve of.

Nicki smiled as Kaz leaned in and kissed her forehead. "I'm feeling a little better. Now that I'm not so surrounded I don't feel so overwhelmed. I just got so involved with my power being turned on I couldn't shut it off...and I didn't expect there to be so many people here...I just...got really overloaded..." Nicki shook her head, the headache leaving her considerably.
"Kaz...what's going on?" Nicki asked. "My power might be shutting down here but I don't need to know what you're thinking to know that there's something else going on here" Nicki didn't want to pry, she wanted to let Kaz tell her on his own. But there were too many questions to just let them be.

Kaz looked away from her when he spoke. "I don't know how much I should tell you, or what I'm really allowed to say. Hell, I don't even know HOW you'll react if I tell you. You're pure, your hand clean. You're innocent and sweet." Sighing, "First and foremost, above all. Dispite what you say or think about me Nicki. I'm NOT exactly how you think of me. You've seen my, best side, as some would call it."
Looking at her from the corner of his eye, "Do you remember Lisa saying we have a special defence squad here? Well, I'm part of it. But we don't just defend Sanctuary. We're quite aggressive in our work, which is mostly outside of here. If you heard about some medical building being destroyed up north, that was us...." He trailed off, as he averted his eyes again.

Nicki's brow furrowed again as she listened to Kaz. Was she really hearing all of this? Was he really telling her that he was some kind of...revolutionary? A defense system with agressive tendencies...
Nicki felt her stomach knot as Kaz mentioned the medical building. Lots of people had heard about that, it was a serious event. Nicki looked down, playing with her hands a bit, forcing herself not to say anything as she let everything sink into her head. She thought long, trying to think of exactly what would be the best thing to say...or to ask. She thought of a bunch of questions that, in all honesty, she didn't want to know the answer to. She thought of some that she knew Kaz wouldn't answer. She sighed and looked into Kaz's red eyes.
"Why are you at the Mansion then?" she asked, a strength in her voice that even sounded strange to her.

Kaz couldn't help but think about the first guards he had encountered at the medical building. The whole thing came back to him like he was watching a movie filmed in first person perspective, his perspective. The silence in the room drew on for what seemed like forever. When Nicki finally spoke, her question nearly floored him. It wasn't the question, or even the type of question he had expected. He laughed an odd laugh, showing he was surprised and nervous. "Well...I don't really know. Origionally I had gone there to see Eldwyn. To have him send an order in to get supplies and replace some equipment of mine. Then I remembered the one group of mutants who have been through hell and back, who almost every mutant knows about. The group that rivaled the Brootherhood and every other mutant group ever. The X-Men. It's been known for a long time where they're based from. They could only keep that a secret for so long, and since it was discovered, they don't seem to have tried to cover it up much." Taking a slow breath, he glanced at Nicki laying on the bed. "They would be our greatest obsticle in anything we do. I decided if I can get information, I could keep us one step ahead of them." He looked away from her again. "So I registered there, so I could avoid suspicion, and so I could come and go as I please. That was the plan at least." Slowly he looked at Nicki, "Until I met you."
Standing up and moved to the foot of the bed. "In one day, ONE damn day. My head swims with questions. When you began to sway, and pale in the hall, my heart quickened, as it hasn't done in YEARS! Worry, fear. That's what did it. I haven't felt like this since I lost her..." His voice trailed off and quieted as he choked his emotions back. "It's because of you Nicki." He turned and looked at her. He was not angry, nothing in his body language, voice or his face said he was. He looked at odds with himself.
His coin had been split in half, and twisted. Resembling a yin-yang.

Nicki sighed, sitting up again, taking Kaz's hand, trying to let everything sink in.
Every student at the Mansion's goal was to become an X-Man; that was fact. Kaz was essentially an enemy spy. He went and enrolled for the pure reason of trying to get information to take down the people who had taken Nicki in. And, though she couldn't confirm this, he might have been using Nicki to try and get some kind of information off of her (even though she had none to give). There was no reason for her to be warm or sympathetic of understanding in this situation.
But there was more. Kaz was truly conflicted. He was being honest when he said that Nicki had given him something to think about that he hadn't thought about in a while. He was being honest when he said that he was worried when she looked like she was going to faint. He was being honest about the fact that he was really confused.
Nicki cleared her throat, thinking of exactly what to say. "I still think I'm right about you Kaz. I still think that there is more good in you than you give yourself credit for." she said finally, firmly.

Before he realized who it was that oppened the door, his cane was in two pieces, the sheath lay on the ground as Kaz held the blade in a defensive possition, pressed against the length of his right arm, as his left was held diagonally in front of his face. Kaz's face had instantly become cold and solid as stone.
It took a moment to register who it was, as he dropped his arms, picked up the sheath and put the cane back together. After setting the cane aside, "Slammiches. Thank you Abyss..Err...Which one are you? I can't tell you guys appart." Kaz laughed a bit, his face softening. He took the plate and water and set it down on the table. "As for what's going on...It's a long story. Simply put, I know her from the mansion. She has nothing to do with the others. And she nearly overloaded from her power." Turning to Jupiter, "This doesn't leave this room." His tone and look was serious. Of corse when he said this room, he knew it would get back to the rest of the clones and the actual Abyss, which was fine. "I trust her. And I care for her. Those others...I don't trust. There's something about them...that tugs at me wrong."

Nicki didn't know where to start first: the fact that someone who was probably part of this other group with Kaz, was entering the room or the fact that Kaz suddenly had a sword pressed against the man's throat. She shook her head, looking down before lifting her eyes as Kaz spoke.
"Um...I know I'm kinda the new girl here but um...what the fuck is going on?" Nicki asked, her voice losing it's softness and a bite coming through. "Maybe I'm not catching it cause I'm still a little over-heated from all the lots of thoughts and lying that was going on out there but I'm just a bit confused" her voice acidic, demanding both guys hear her.

Nicki listened at Jupiter spoke. As he turned his direction towards her, Nicki felt something sweep over her that she wasn't used to it...that didn't make sense to her. She was angry. She was angry at a level she was unfamilar with. And she wanted to do something to the man. Wanted to say something that would cut him down to size...wanted to show him that she knew how to make giants fall.
Nicki suddenly wasn't recoginizing herself. And that scared her.
"I..." Nicki searched through the anger...trying to find something that felt familar to her. She kept looking to Kaz, desperately trying to convey something that she couldn't even explain. Trying to show her answer, she looked desperately to Kaz. "Something's really wrong with me..." Nicki hissed under her breath, her voice still sounding like poison.

Kaz was taken back by Nicki's outburst. At the same time a tingle ran down his spine, he took a deep breath. The tone in her voice was...indescribable to him. <THAT! Was sexy.> He suddenly had an urge to kiss the girl more than ever, but he resisted that urge, but god did he want to. He nodded to Jupiter when he told him his name. "One of these days, you'll have to help me figure out a way to tell you guys apart." Kaz chuckled a bit, which ended shortly and very suddenly.
Nicki's stammer and pause made his heart skip. He saw the anger clear on her face, along with the worry and fear. Quickly, Kaz pulled off his gloves dropping them on the floor, he undid the wrappings on his hands in one clean move. Looking up at the monitoring machine, he heart rate was elevated, as well as other bodily functions. He sat next to her, brushing his hand along her hair. He was as calm as he could be, forcing the worry down, so it didn't show. "Try to calm down. Look at me." Putting his hand agaisnt her cheek, he tried to calm her down, rubbing her cheek gently.

Nicki was shaking slightly, not because she was overloaded, but because she was terrified. The emotional strain of the anger and the fear was getting to her as her eyes welled up and her she clenched her palms into tight fists.
"Kaz I really don't know what's going on...this has never happened before...I...I feel something weird" Nicki shook her head, trying to calm down...to find anything in herself that still felt familar. "I've never been this angry before. I've never felt this...violent before" she felt her eyes fire up at the word violence. The word never sounded so appealing. She wanted to do it; wanted to hurt.
She was terrified of herself. She looked down at her skin, fighting every urge she had to claw at it. Nothing made sense...
