The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

This is something he recognized. The alien blood lust, the urge to harm, hurt, destroy. He knew the feeling, he knew the joy, the extacy when he gave in. More to the point, when Sarrus is released. But unlike himself, which was purely born from his experiences growing up, his misstreatment, and vengence, he couldn't tell exactly what was causing Nicki such trama. The only thing he could think of, is her mutation. That has to be it.
"Focus here, focus on me. Only me. There's nothing else. Only you and me." Try as he might, he didn't think he would get through to her with words. So he did the only other thing he could think of. He embraced her, his arms around her, as he kissed her. He felt helpless, powerless, that he couldn't help the girl he cared for. Keeping his emotions, in check, the only thing he let out was concern, and his feelings toward Nicki, if he didn't, he knew they would warp into anger. Which she didn't need any more of.

Nicki was about to start clawing at the first piece of flesh she could get her hands on when Kaz leaned in and kissed her. The direct contact and sudden sweep of cooling emotion calmed her almost instantly. Her head was no longer filled with the copper buzz of destruction and she could find parts of her own soul she could recoginize. There was still anger bubbling right below the surface, but for now, it was below the surface.
As she and Kaz parted, Nicki squeezed his hand. "Thank you" she said, though tears were streaming down her eyes. She was so confused...so drained. She didn't know what was going on or why it was happening. She was still terrified and worried...just not so angry.

"Thank you." Kaz didn't respond with words, instead he wiped the tears from the girl's face and huggged her close, her head on his chest, rubbing her back. Kaz had no idea what was going on with her. This was odd, well maybe not, he had only known her for a short time. But, her words, this seemed new to her as well. "You'll be alright. I'm here for you." Kaz whispered to her.

Nicki breathed deeply, trying to focus on shutting down her power. She had the feeling that whatever was going on with her, it was because of her power, so she worked hard to try and nip this in the bud. She steadied herself and thought desperately of doors closing.
"I...I really don't know what that was..." Nicki shook her head a little, pulling back and looking up at Kaz. "I've never felt that...angry before. I wanted to do something crazy..." Nicki shook her head, terrified at her own thoughts.

"You probably over used your power today. Just went a bit 'Haywire'." When he said the last word he looked at Jupiter with a question in his eye. Brushing a stray strand of hair from Nicki's face, "It's not wrong to feel that. You just need to channel and focus it, into something. So you don't hurt yourself."

Nicki struggled to keep her mind focused on keeping herself stable. She looked over to the man against the wall: she had almost forgotten he was there in the first place. She scrunched her eyebrows, wrinkling her forehead slightly as she absent-mindedly thought about what the two were speaking about in code.
"Oh, um, my power is I can absorb information. Like from books and computers and stuff, and I can pick up any surface thoughts of people. Which is kinda how I got all hinky..." Nicki trailed off, trying to understand what the two of them were talking about. "Deathstar? Um, I don't know. I've only been at the Mansion a short time, I don't know much of anybody" Nicki sighed, looking down at her hands. Everything was happening so quickly. "What do they have to do with anything?" Nicki asked, looking at Kaz, then back to the man against the wall.

Kaz looked at Nicki. <No harm in telling her.> "Deathstar is his sister. They were seperated MANY years ago. He's trying to find her, and get any information where she might be exactly." He looked at Jupiter then back to Nicki. "Haywire is another mutant. They make a mutant's powers go...haywire...out of control, while normal humans get extremely sick, and die shortly after exposure to Haywire." Sighing, "No one knows exactly HOW Haywire does it, or if there's anyway to stop it. I wanted to know what Jupiter thought." Kaz put his hand on Nicki's. "It's unknown whether Haywire effects EVERYONE in a certian area, or if they can focus on just one person." Kaz specificly kept his mind blank, made sure he didn't say anything about having Haywire, or that they were testing those things he said.

Nicki shook her head, looking over at the large man. "I'm sorry, I don't know anything about your sister...I'm too new to know anybody all that well. I bet you could get a hold of her if you come over to the Mansion...I'm sure she'd probably want to see you too" Nicki shrugged, looking back over to Kaz.
"I don't know...I mean...I didn't think that it took anything special for my powers to freak out. When I overload things gets weird and..." Nicki blushed a little looking over at the man in the corner and lowering her voice, "Ever since you did that thing at the Mansion my powers have been...stronger: I've been tapped in to them very well. I absorbed too much and well...the idea that, like he said" Nicki pointed to the corner "Maybe I was absorbing personality traits or something...maybe it had nothing to do with this Haywire" Nicki shrugged again. "Is it even possible for me to be being effected? It's not like she's in the room: are her powers that strong?" Nicki asked, glad that there was something for her mind to tackle.

Kaz thought for a moment on what Nicki said. "It's possible. No one knows how storng Haywire is. Or where she is for that matter. It's unlikely that Haywire is here, but like I said, no one knows how powerful the power Haywire has is." Lowering his voice so only Nicki would hear him, "I'm sorry if I made this happen to you." Sitting back a bit, "We want to find Haywire, and figure this stuff out. See if there's any way to counteract the power, or help Haywire control it." He smiled at her. Looking to Jupiter for a moment, the look in Kaz's eyes and on his face told a simple thing 'go along with it'. "Here," Kaz grabbed the plate with the sandwitches on it, and held it toward Nicki. "Eat something. Might help a bit. Give your body something to focus on besides your powers." He gave Jupiter a playful smile, "They smell good enough. Jupiter made them, though I'm sure they're half slamiches."

Nicki took the sandwhich into her hands but didn't take a bit of it: she was too busy thinking about Haywire. "Well...why don't you and the people at the Mansion" Nicki couldn't say X-Men...it sounded too cool to assossiate with the place she lived, "Work together? I mean, that's why the Mansion was created...to help people with controlling their powers..." Nicki looked at the two, confused as to why there was a conflict.

When Nicki mentioned working with the mansion Kaz looked to Jupiter and raised an eyebrow. Sighing, "Theres a big difference in what the mansion does, and what we do. And how things are accomplished." Kaz took one of the sandwiches and took a few bites. " The mansion and X-Men, strive to be equal with humans. Where humans want to keep us down or have us outright destroyed, eliminated, extinct. At best, with how they go about things, it'll be like it was before it was made law the blacks were 'equal' to white people. They still weren't, at least in the eyes of many. There are still hate crimes against them. And many people think that all minorties are less than they are. That's the best the X-Men can do." Eating a bit more. "Although that's good in itself, to a degree. But do you want to be marked, and tracked, and catigorized? Or your children if they're mutants, or their children? From the moment they're born, they'll be watched and monitored. And if they get 'out of hand', they'd be whisped off to some place, tested on, treated like crap, and probably killed. I don't. I won't let that happen. What the X-Men want, and what we want, is the same thing at the end. But the way we do it, is completely different."

Nicki looked down at the food in her hand, letting it all sink in. What Kaz was saying was true: there were people who thought mutants were less than they were and Nicki knew this from first hand experience. But wasn't a lot of that ignorance? Couldn't some experience and knowledge overcome this?
At the same time the child thing perked Nicki's attention. In her town, most girls were married by 18 and had a child in a year or so, so children were something Nicki thought about regularly. Even if she didn't think mutants would ever be rounded up and experimented on, the idea that it might happen terrified her, more so that it might happen to her children.

Kaz listened to Jupiter and watched Nicki. Giving her hand a gental squeeze. "While what we do may not be concidered moraly right, and we may be branded as hypocrites in some aspects. We do what we think is best," Lifting her chin so she met his eyes, "For all of us, for our children, and all other mutants yet to be." Kaz knelt down on the floor and looked up at Nicki, putting a hand on her thigh. "We can step outside if you want some time alone..." Kaz trailed off. He didn't want to make Nicki feel worse or overload her more, but he didn't want to leave her side either.

Nicki looked down to Kaz and over to Jupiter. This was all very overwhelming and she wasn't sure what to do with all of this information. The goal of all kids at the Mansion was to become an X-Man and to suddenly be thinking that maybe they were wrong was odd for Nicki.
It wasn't like she was bowing to the thoughts of a boy she liked: she was thinking about the other side of the coin. Yes, she knew that there were some mutants that didn' like humans but she always thought that all of the mutual hatred was over perceived prejudices, not over actual acts.
She never knew that someone had been experimented on...let alone for ten years.
"I...in all honesty Kaz...I'm really not sure what I want" Nicki hardly recoginized her own voice. She had never heard that level of deep sorrow come from her own mouth before. But this time, it was warranted.
Thorn got out of a cab after paying. She looked at the building that she lived in earlier. That whole cop-thing was not fun. They would have caught her had the witness not suddenly gone missing and yes, Thorn had something to do with it, but no one could prove that either. Since there was no evidence against her, she was able to walk free of her bonds. First place she went, of course, was a to a bar, so she did have some alcohol in her system, but not that much, at least not for Thorn.
Once she entered the building, she did but walk around for a few seconds before she ran into a familiar face. It was one of the Abysses. Which one, she had no clue. But she smiled and nodded, not really caring whether or not it was the one that had her same flaw. "A familiar face." She stated. Of course, she was wearing her corset, but it was black with white spades embroided on the corners of the front. Her pinstriped pants partly covered up her black, high-heeled boots. Her hair, of course, was up, not a surprise. No, this woman did not look any different than she did when she had left.
