The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

”Well, talk to me. Tell me what’s on your mind,” he said and smiled as she wrapped her arms around his. “Lemme know what’s going on inside your pretty little head.
He really did want to know what she was thinking, as he still had a feeling she was not being entirely honest with her light dismissal of the subject. He no longer worried about having done the wrong thing by putting his arms around her, though he did think she wanted to delve into the thought process she was having.
"Well, I mean, I dunno. It's hard to explain, you know. It's more of a 'gotta-think-about-it-to-understand-it' kind of things. You know?" She took a deep breath and looked away for a second as she tried to recollect her thoughts and make sense out of them, but it wasn't going too well, her mind worked 20 times faster than her mouth. Then again, how can she put words to an emotion, how can she talk about a confusion or mention a feeling? After she thought she had a grasp on what she was going to say, she looked back into his eyes and sighed.
"Um, well, ha, it's hard to explain, like I said. So I'll try and say it like this, I really don't know what went on between you and Victoria. You know, I have thoughts running through my mind that I just can't grasp or make sense out of, and that's just the way that I work, but it's different around you. I think about completely different things. Something about you makes me feel better, but at the same time even more confused. Do you get what I'm saying, I'm pretty bad at explaining it." At least she said what was on her mind and now he couldn't prod her about that. She was being sincere and completely honest though, and it should count for something, possibly make up for all of the confusing statements that flowed from her lips.
He nodded as she spoke, but remained quiet and let her collect her thoughts. He did not want to interrupt what she had to say. It was what he wanted after all, and was – as far as he was concerned – the thing to do as a friend anyways.
He let her speak her piece, and remained quiet for a moment after she finished, though his arms remained where they were. If anything they tightened a little bit around her. His mind coursed over what she had said. He had not really thought of Victoria for sometime now, even though he had certainly seen her on nearly a daily basis since coming back from the research facility. It was difficult to miss her comatose form in the medical wing of the mansion whenever he went there for DocProf to check up on him. His visits to sit with her were growing fewer, yet he still did so. However, she no longer pervaded his thoughts as she did when she was first injured.
“Would you believe me if I said that nothing went on between us?” He asked Fade looking down into her eyes. “Sure, we spent quite a bit of time together when we first arrived here, but it never developed past a friendship. And certainly isn’t going to develop into anything now.” He drew a breath and blew it out slowly. “DocProf hasn’t said anything, but I don’t think she’s going to wake up anytime soon.” He nodded to himself, watching Fade’s face.
“But I think I get what you’re saying,” he continued to speak. “You like me, or at least that is what it seems to me what you are describing, and worry that I am not available. That I am tied up in a maelstrom of a relationship with a young woman in a coma.” He shook his head some. “I’m not… Am I on the right course here?” He drew a deep breath in and held it for a moment before letting it out again and asked. “Can I confess something to you? And I don’t think it’s quite as drastic as what I had to say when I first asked you to the kitchen.”
Fade kept silent and just nodded, glad that he understood and was following along. He certainly was able to word it better and in much simpler terms. Well, Raph basically wrapped it up, Fade didn't need to correct anything he said, so, she kept silent until he asked if he could confess to something. What could that be? Would he follow along with her thoughts or would it be completely off topic? Never-the-less, she felt better knowing that it was not going to be about murder or attempted murder, but she had no idea what was coming so she just silenced her thoughts and focused more on listening than thinking.
"Alright, your turn to trip over words, then again, you're not one to word spitter." She smiled, still looking on to him. Lightly, she rubbed his arm with her hands and then patted them before they just held the same position. Her neck was just a little uncomfortable, so she leaned back her head to get a better look at him, thus she rested her head on his arm.
He nodded some. It was humorous that she had suddenly just given him permission to trip over his words. As one who almost never had a problem getting words out he suddenly found himself short of what exactly to say as she laid her head against his arm. It just felt right. It was something he had felt with Victoria in the garden, but it had taken longer to develop with Fade. To him it felt… purer.
As he looked down at her and spoke. “I um… hmm…. Uh...” Then he chose to do something he had not done with Victoria simply because he was afraid of being too forward. With Fade it was something else he felt different about, it was a something he felt almost comfortable with her. He leaned down and pecked her lips, short, and quick. Simple. He then spoke quietly as he lifted his head. “I like you. There’s something comforting I find about your presence.”
She couldn't help but to smile when he tripped over his words, she called it, though. However, the little kiss caught her completely off guard, in a good way. Her mind just stopped thinking, for once in her life, she didn't have to think it through, her body and heart was doing the thinking and her mind was shut off. It was almost as if her reason and rational just left without a trace, as if she had never thought before, yet never felt like that. A rush of sensation flooded her veins and covered her bones and all just seemed and felt right. Her smile became larger as this was the first time she truely felt happy and comfortable.
"Seems like we share the same thoughts." She chuckled. Then her mind shut off again and she lost control of her body as she leaned in towards him, hoping for another kiss. She may have looked dumb but she wasn't thinking right and her actions were no longer controlled by her mind, so she didn't even think twice.
Well… that went better than expected. The thought ran through his mind as she laughed and tilted towards him, expectant for another kiss. While her mind had come to a standstill his mind was racing. He was not entirely sure he was ready to jump in, but then realized that he had already stepped into the deep-end. He smiled and murmured, “Yeah, something like that.”
He dipped his head and brought his lips to her lips again, only this time longer. He kissed her, gently, and for a length of time that he was not certain how long it lasted. He kissed her longer and felt more than he had ever before when he had kissed someone. As he slowly broke the kiss, he kept his head close to her head as he spoke in a soft tone. “Where’s this go from here?”
Fade's heart raced as they followed into the second kiss and she closed her eyes until it was over. She felt limp, but at the same time, stronger, it was a mixed emotion and now the question 'Where's this go from here?' rang in her paused mind, ringing it back to life. Yeah, what now? I dunno, never expected to get here. Hmmmm...I have no idea. I hope he's got a better idea, or at least has an idea, 'cause my mind's mush right now.
"I dunno, to tell you the truth, I've never even made it this far. Do you know what to do next?" She asked, leaning her head back on his arm. Great, Jenny, that sounded fantastic. You couldn't even come up with one little clue as to where to go next. This is fantastic, you sound like an idiot. well, it's safe to say her mind turned back on and was now contradicting herself...again.
"A talk is likely in order," he said, equally quietly as he held her. "I don't kiss friends, for example, is a place to begin." He said, though his mind continued silently but I do kiss girlfriends. Not that he had had a girlfriend in such a long time, and really all he wanted to do was hold Fade close and kiss her again, and again. This, however, was not quite the time, or place, to do it. He gave her a gentle squeeze. "I think this is a step towards being closer yet... More than friends?"
He squeezed her as his mind flowed through the paces. He watched her, just looked at her, drew in her body, the warm feel as it was pressed against his, even if the chair was in the way. He sucked in the smell of her, the way her hair fell, and just let his mind wander for a moment. To the end of the Whitmore attack when they first met, to when he attempted to comfort her after her drinking binge. To a possible future with her, the person he fully intended to protect her to the best of his ability... assuming she agreed with him to be more than just friends.
"Agreed, more than friends." She smiled, it seemed, that in this situation, she could only smile and look at him. Other than that, she couldn't think of any other motion that would follow along with what was happening, so she was forced to be repetitive in her actions and expressions. Wow, never thought this was gonna happen. By this, she meant that since no guys had ever really made it known that they liked her, she just never found herself appealing to anyone and thus never thought she would make it into someone's arms, being cared for as someone more than a friend.
Then again, due to her past, nothing had ever been present for her to become close to anyone. However, all this seemed irrelevant as Raph was right in front of her and she was living in the present and thinking about the future, that now held a high place for Raph. It just felt as though even though she never had any experience, it was right that she was experiencing all of these new emotions with Raph and not with someone in her past or her emotions would have been shaped differently and she herself would have been different.
She was left with one more option, just to stare deep into his eyes and loose herself in her thoughts, emotions, and feelings as they all mushed together to show her one thing. This thing was the only thing that was ever clear in her life, it wasn't murky or painted pretty colors, it was plain, simple, and right in front of her. It was Raphael.
Raphael was hoping for a little bit more input than just that, but he would work with it. He smiled at Fade and loosened his arms from around her so he could move to sit in the seat beside her. He did however take her hands after settling into his seat. “Guess this is just another reason not to leave, eh?” He grinned some and squeezed her hands, and resisted the temptation to lean over and kiss her again. Moderation would make things stronger between them. Special. Moving slowly, or at least only as fast as she was ready to move would make things fair and honorable for both of them.
He drew a breath and smiled as it carried both the scent of the food he had prepared for them and her unique scent. He drew slow deep breaths watching her. The thought sinking through his being that she and he were now a couple, and he had another purpose. “Been thinking about something else you know…” He said, and smiled at her. “Something that seems more plausible now that I’ve been ever so subtly convinced to stick around.”
"Good reason." She smiled as she listened to him again. Another confession, well, this did not seem too much like a confession, it's a thought. Thoughts aren't confessions, are they? No, not in this case. Raph said 'something that seems more plausible now that I've been ever so subtly convinced to stick around.' and that didn't mean anything in the past.
Wonder what he means... Her curious mind was racing again and it kicked back in, full throttle. What could be plausible in the future? Obviously it'd have to be something at the mansion. Maybe...oh, I have no idea. I should really just stop thinking and let him talk, after all, I'm not a telepath or future, um, visionary person...uh, what are they called? Not palm readers, um, future-see...ers? Gah, what is that word... Of course, he mind trailed off in a different direction and she had to force herself to just listen and not trail off in thoughts. However, she'd have to speak some time.
"Oh? And what's that?" She asked, raising one eyebrow in curiousity. Hope I didn't take too long to actually give a response. It was a while before I spoke, great...
He smiled and nodded, watching her puzzle over it and was about open his mouth to say when she spoke and he just smiled and nodded. He then said, “Yuh know the X-Men?” He asked, though he meant it in as a rhetorical question. “Think I could join ‘em? I think I could be useful to them…”
What he meant is that he would like to join the ranks of the X-Men, to help protect those he cared for, with Fade at the top of the list, though it would also give his life some more direction than it currently had; direction that had been missing up until even just the past couple minutes. “What do you think? Who do you think I aughta talk to about it?” He watched her expectantly. He hoped the mind-numbing effect of his earlier kiss had worn off enough for them to continue their conversation… even if he intended to reinstate that effect as soon as possible.
Fade looked at him with an understanding, yet confused look. She knew about the X-Men, but she thought that you had to be invited to be an X-Man. "I'm guessing it's good to talk to Tricity, she'll get it, I think. After all, she's the head of like, everyone. Your best bet is with her."
X-Man! Wow, that'd be pretty cool if he was able to get it. Wonder if I'm too young to be an X-Man. Eh...I'm not all that great of a fighter anyways, I'm more for stealth. I dunno, it'd be cool, but maybe not just yet. Great, now she had trailed off on thinking about the X-Men, but every image of the future she saw had Raph standing right next to her, whether he was an X-Man, they both were X-Men or neither of them were. Every scenario she came up with in her mind had the image of Raph butting into it, making the image complete and just right.
Raphael nodded. Tricity was the natural person to go to when anything concerning the happenings around the mansion were in question. She certainly seemed to know everything and more so be in charge of everything. He smiled some at Fade and gave her hands a gentle squeeze. He then leaned over and pecked her lips and settled back in his chair. “Think I’d look good with short hair?” He asked the question just as it occurred to him. He had worn his hair in the ponytail to his shoulders for so long he could scarcely remember when it was not as such. And he figured that if he were going to change his appearance, it might as well be to her liking. “If not… what do you prefer?”
