The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Well, my dinners have never been on 'proper' conversations, so I don't mind." Unfortunately, Fade had no ideahow to react. She didn't want him to think that she wasn't understanding, because she was, of course, since she had never gone through anything like that, she couldn't relate to him, but she felt as though she had a light grasp on the concept. Also since she trusted him and obviously he trusted her, she wanted to make sure that her reaction wouldn't change anything, so she tried her hardest to make sure that her reaction wasn't alarming, she was actually confusing herself.
She took her fork and stuck it through a piece of chicken before putting it in her mouth. It was delicious and she went for another bite. "It's really good, thank you." She smiled after she had finished the other piece.
(sorry fer not posting more recently... rough weekend) "You're welcome Jenny." He offered a smile, though continued to just mess with his own dish. "I've talked alot about myself... Wha'bout you?"
He watched her eat. He wondered what he did not know about her. Certainly a lot, though he was more than willing to listen to her, learn more about her. "What can you tell me about yourself?"
If nothing else... perhaps it could break the somber mood he had begun.
"Not much, the story of my life has so many twists and turns that I can't even keep track of it. I just know that it was because of that bastard that I don't have a family and why I lived on the streets for so long. Other than that, I lived the typical 'steal-or-die' kind of life." She didn't remember too much about her parents, all she remembered was how many times she wished she knew them better and that they were alive, basically everyday.
She gladly put another piece of his chicken in her mouth, followed by another, and another. "Then again, had I lead a good life, I might not have come here, and that was the best thing that has happened to me."
Raphael nodded some. "Funny, how fate works out at times, eh?" He put his chopsticks down and just looked at her. "Wha'about your hidden qualities? The ones I don't know 'bout... yet." He offered a smile.
"Or really anything... Just tell me 'bout yourself," He watched her, leaning forward and resting his chin on his palms. "I want to hear more 'bout you Jenny."
"There's really nothing left to know about me. My qualities go as far as the eyes can see, and not my eyes, because I can't see in me what other people do. I guess 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'." She shrugged, she didn't feel like she really had ANY qualities. To Fade, she was just an average girl that lost her past and is trying to regain her future before it's too late. Qualities were never considered or thought out, so what qualities did she have?
"I dunno, what about you? Do you know what your qualities are?" She asked, there really wasn't much to say about herself, but to listen to another was a different story.
"Outside of my violent nature an' wha'not?" He puzzled a moment. Much of his life had been pure and simple violence. From his time bullying other children, and the rare occasional adult, to his time in the ring. He had beaten his living for a couple of years, literally taking his pay out of the bodies of other men. Including the one who's throat he had crushed, the life he had taken outside of self defense, and not shown any remorse, what so ever. Then he had come here, and within a week had brutally slaughtered men who really did not stand much of a chance when he was within his element: close quarters fighting. He had even at minimum seriously hurt an orderly at the facility. His life was almost absolutely defined by violence, or at least violent moments.
"I can cook," he said with a shrug. "Though that one is obvious... now. I'm also quite the acrobat... or at least I was... might take awhile before I get back to that. Mmmm.... I was bare-knucks boxin' champ before I was exiled." He stopped to think for a moment. "Been told I give a good massage."
"Well, I guess I'm pretty flexible and can like climb walls and do all these tricks on the walls and ceiling-" She stopped talking after she heard 'massage'. It was not a word she recognized. Actually, she had heard it once, but she didn't really know what it was, after all, she couldn't just pull out money and get a massage, any money she stole, she used it for money, clothes, or hygiene.
"I feel really dumb and naive for saying this, but, what's a massage?" By asking what something was, it made her feel dumb, and terrible since he apparently gave good massages and yet she had no idea what a massage was. Then again, her mind did not grow in intellect, just in proportion as she aged.
He nodded along with her comments on flexibility and the climbing up walls. He could do that, even now to some extent, provided the surface was not entirely shear and he could get some sort of handhold. He blinked a moment at her sudden break in sentence as he mentioned massages.
“Ugh…” He stated, and searched his mind for the best way to explain it. “Uh, it’s rubbin’ and kneading muscles till they feel better…” he continued to look for the best explanation. “Like, have you ever gotten a stitch… or a knot in your shoulder? Stiff muscles in your back?” He watched her face for recognition as he tried to explain. “Well, a massage is to loosen those muscles up and undo the knotted muscle…”
He watched her for a moment longer, bit his lip, then ‘huhhed’ and said. “It’s easier to show than really tell…”
Fade looked up in confusion, nope she had never really realized that she had knots or stitches, so she had no idea what he meant. When he said that it was easier to show, she smiled. It was a fact that Jenny was better at learning things when she saw them and not listened to facts about them, facts confused her and made her mind to go spinning.
"OK then, show me, I'm so sorry that I don't know what it is, damn my stupidity." She sighed before smacking her head, but not too hard, she didn't want a red mark on her forehead for everyone to see.
I'm sure a sensible person wouldn't get a massage because they didn't know what it was and it could have been painful, but then again, a sensible person would have known what a massage was and not be stuck in this situation and she was. Plus, Fade is not a sensible girl, she goes on the spur of the moment, the classic girl that does not want control or organization in her life. Yep, that's definately Fade.
He knew the blank stare she gave him as he tried to explain what a massage was. He frowned for a moment then suggested showing her and was rewarded with her agreement.
“You’re not stupid Jenny, I’m just no good at explainin’ it,” he said as he moved around behind her. “Now, just relax. If I go too hard, and it hurts, the bad kinda hurt, lemme know. ‘Kay?”
Raphael laid his hands upon Fade’s shoulders and let his hands begin rubbing, very gently at first. He let his thumbs make slow circles right at the base of her neck. He spread his hands kneading her shoulders in deep rhythmic clockwise circles. After a few minutes there he moved his hands up to her neck, thumbs gently working at stiff and knotted muscles they found there. “Sleep badly Jenny?” He asked as his fingers worked to loosen and relax the muscles in her neck. He couldn’t think of any other reason why her neck would be a bundle of knots. He continued his work, gentle and strong, as he waited her answer.
Fade attempted to relax, but she was a pretty tensed up girl. As he began to rub her neck and knead it slowly. It felt so good, Fade couldn't help herself, she relaxed and closed her eyes. It was almost as though she had no more control over her body and she had never felt such a sensation before. A small moan escaped her throat and she bit her lip, hoping that he didn't hear. Such a weird feeling, as though even though it hurt some, it felt so good, so good that she lost control of her body and it fell into a relaxed position.
After a few more circles as he began to move up her neck, she stopped biting her lip, not caring if she moaned again, which she did. Great, Jenny, you probably sound like a dying cow...oh who cares! This feels way too good to care about moaning. Oh, that's the spot! Oh! It feels so good! she thought to herself, making sure that she didn't say it outloud, that would have been weird.
When he asked if she was sleeping badly, she replied in a relaxed voice "Yeah, not used to beds and pillows. Where did you learn how to do this?" She asked. Who cares, he's great at it! silently rang in the back of her mind.
Raphael listened to her. He had not had the kind of response Fade was giving right now, at least not as vocal as she was being. It actually made him ever so slightly embarrassed, especially since it was a quasi-public place where he was giving her a massage.
“I wasn’t the only one throwing punches in the ring,” he said. Another aspect of his life that reflected back onto the violence that seemed to perpetrate his life. He had received his fair share of massages during his time as a back-street brawler and cage-fighter. Of course, he had also picked up the talent in the same place. Not necessarily working out the kinks in the muscles of his opponents… but Raphael was not exactly an unfriendly person. He had made friends and certainly had a chance to practice many skills that were not directly related to the ring. “I learned it during my time there.”
He rubbed the back of her neck, and then abruptly draped his arms over her shoulders. “I take it you enjoyed that?”
"Right, that makes sense." She replied when he spoke about cage fighting and getting massages after he was done. When he finished and drapped his arms around her shoulders, she smiled and looked up at him "Course I did, sorry that I moaned," she gave a half smile and raised one eyebrow. "I didn't even know I did until it came out." Her half-smile turned into a full smile as if she laughed at her own stupidity. Fade's eyes moved up and met with his eyes, containing her smile.
No, you have no idea what went on. You don't know what happened between him and Victoria. Her mind raced, as most do when eyes meet. Ok, well, if there was anything between him and Victoria, I would be able to tell, right? No, I have no idea how. Great, it's a good thing he's not a telepath or I'd be toast.
Raphael nodded some and smiled as she smiled. “There’s nothin’ wrong with that. Jus’ means I was doin’ a good job.” He smiled again, though he had felt a little embarrassed at her reaction. He did understand that it was a good reaction.
He gave her a little hug with his arms over her shoulders. He quirked an eye-brow as she suddenly seemed to no longer be at ease. While he was no telepath, he had spent enough time in a ring to learn how to read someone, and Fade was giving off several signs that something was not quite on the level, despite her smile.
“Everything okay?” He asked, suddenly wondering if he should have his arms draped over her shoulders… whether he had overstepped his bounds. He certainly hoped not, and bit his lip for a moment, then said. “Yuh know, you can tell me, or ask me anything…” he said, though decided to keep his arms over her shoulders, going out on a limb.
"You did do a good job. Oh, nothing's wrong, I just think too much and it makes my face look funny." She wrapped her arms around his arms that were around her shoulder, so it was one big bundle of arms. why won't you tell him!? Oh yeah, because i don't have the guts, that's why, i mean, what if....I dunno, I think too much, I just need to stop thinking things through so much. Fade did think about anything and everything under the sun, trying to find solutions to questions that cannot be answered, but she still tried. It's better to have tried and failed than to have never tried at all.
