The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Emily listened intently to the boy, trying to imagine what that would be like. She did know what it was like to have slightly intrusive family members hanging around. After all, her mother was always bugging her with this and that whenever she stayed with her. She could barely stand it after very long, but then whenever she actually left to come back to her Dad she started to miss her Mum a little...
She smirked at that last comment. "You should see my dad's, I think he must own every console in existence at this point, he's let me stay up till 4am with him on it probably a few more times than he responsibly should have..." She snorted.
She sighed at his comment and shrugged. "I don't know? I guess so. She's very girly. Always moaning about me, the way I dress, the stuff I do with my time, the people I hang out with blah blah..." She snickered. Gesturing down at her clothes. "I mean, look at the way I dress, do I exactly convey girly girl to you?" She received a dirty look from one of the attendents while she thought Emily wasn't looking.
However, she glanced in that direction as the attendant did. Emily immediately recognised the look and turned back to shoot the person behind the counter a scathing glance, before turning on her heel. "On second thought, lets look somewhere else."

Emily blinked hard. 4 Brothers? 5 of them? She'd thought of having kids in the future before, but she couldn't imagine a world where having 5 kids even remotely made sense, that was like something out of a book. "I..." She thought for a moment and still came up blank. "I can't even imagine, I'm an only child. God, I would go completely mental. I think I like my personal space too much." She admitted.
Of course, she didn't even like being in crowds anymore, they tended to give her headaches before too long.
She hummed. "Maybe I should get the long unpleasant part of finding my mother a Christmas present before I do my dad." She glanced around the store until she saw a perfume store. She grimaced and walked towards it. Giving an audible shudder she added. "Ugh... Here we go."

He was really hyper... Almost like a crazy squirrel or something. She wasn't quite sure how to take Bailey's actions, speech or emotions. He wasn't really that like many of the other people her age she'd come across. As he ranted on about the hero she quirked an eyebrow and let him chat himself out to his hearts content, waiting for him to finish. "Hmmm, maybe I'll look him up at some point." She lied.
Okay, so he was kind of annoying. There was this aura of constant enthusiasm. She couldn't place whether the budding headache was caused by his personality or by the increasing volume of people in the mall. Wow. His mouth really was on rapid fire wasn't it? He wasn't cute. He wasn't. Okay, maybe just a tiny bit. He endeared. Kind of.
"So... How many siblings do you have, I heard you mention them?" She asked, trying to edge the topic to something a little more... normal.

Emily smiled in an almost amused way at the shop. It definitely conveyed 'nerdy' And while she played her share of video games, she wasn't really into wider geek culture all that much. Safe for Star Wars, she really liked her Star Wars. Not quite sure what to think of the store or the character merchandise that was filling basically one side of the room she instead observed Bailey, and let him look around.
"I have absolutely no idea who they are if I'm entirely honest with you." She responded simply.
Moving onto the topic of the reasons she'd come to New York likely meant bringing up the fact that she was a mutant. Especially in a crowded place like this with so many people she didn't entirely fancy doing that. "My dad did get a job over here, Yes." She neglected to mention the extra parts once again.

Emily was taken aback by the boy's sudden barrage of interest and questions. If anything, she was mostly used to teasing or flirtatiousness over her accent, not actual genuine interest. It was fairly refreshing. She broke out into a very genuine smile, eye glittering. "Yes, I did like it there. Though I suppose I like it here too. And yes, it did rain for what seemed like all the time." She glanced around the stores in the area contemplating present ideas.
She glanced over to him and answered the other question. "My parents split up, I eventually ended up with my dad." She neglected to mention the part about her powers manifesting after she'd moved and the whole coming to the mansion in New York part of that story. Even though she was still relatively new to the climate here, she was smart enough to know that at the very least not everyone in the city was entirely thrilled with mutants being there.

Emily really hadn't made much in the way of friends since she'd come to New York for school full time, and she supposed she could make a conscious effort to get to know the boy that was with her, he was friendly enough. And she supposed that he wasn't hostile to her like some other teenagers she'd met here and there.
At least his smile was friendly, his emotions were too. "Yes, I am indeed Emily." She studied the boy's expression and emotions a little more before smiling lightly at his comment. "Yup, I was born there, lived the first few years of my life there too." She didn't really want to go into her entire backstory with someone who she'd only just met and was still a relative stranger to her, but at least an answer seemed polite.
Emily shrugged. "Well, I need to get something for each of my parents at the very least. You were here first, so do you want to pick where we go first?"

Emily fidgeted a little bit with her scarf as she walked around a corner in the mall. She wasn't really used to American shopping centres yet. Especially in New York, they tended to be so packed with people. She really wished she'd not been lazy and had actually gotten to her Christmas shopping already. Her dad suggested that she goes to do her Christmas shopping with the son of a friend, she didn't really feel like arguing, plus it was her dad and he usually had good intentions.
She had absolutely no idea what to get for her mother yet. But she'd probably get her dad some new CD's or something, or some video games. She'd have to wait and see what caught her eye.
The brunette Brit was clad in dark skinny jeans that were torn in a couple of places, as well as a long dark blue shirt with a band of skulls icon on it, wearing a warm navy coat on top of the rest of it, with a scarf and over-ear headphones. She had a description of the guy she was meeting and she'd received a text from him about where they should meet.
She spotted someone standing right about where she should be meeting the boy. She huffed and moved over towards him, gently pulling down her headphones so they were resting just above her neck on her scarf. "Hello, are you Bailey?"

Normally, being inside the bathroom of a bar playing loud music would mean that you couldn't tell what was going on outside, Emily on the other hand wasn't so lucky. It wasn't just the anger from the girl anymore, there was the feelings of what appeared to be a shocked crowd. Emily gripped her head and gave off an exasperated sigh, tightening her grip for a moment before applying cold water to her face, trying to clean off the cute she had, and hoping the cold water would help with the emotions.
The arrival of a sudden crash made her grimace. She kicked one of the stalls in the bathroom and growled in frustration. "Stupid ass**** person." She muttered to nobody in particular.
The girl causing more trouble around the bar and breaking things was going to mean that police would get involved, she was here on a fake ID, she now had to find somewhere else to get a drink. This night was just sucking more and more by the minute. Emily leaned against one of the stalls, letting out an exasperated sigh and massaging her temples, waiting in there a couple of minutes to see if the commotion died down.

Emily felt the frustration building in the other girl. It was like poking a bear, and gradually hearing it's growl get worse, she was lightly amused by it, thinking about getting another drink to make the emotions swimming all over her head feel better, she could already feel a little buzz from what she'd had to drink to start with. She wasn't all that big as a person, and she hadn't quite worked out what her limits were with that either.
Emily felt the flash of directed rage before she saw what was coming next, she instinctively ducked her head towards the table as something sharp and glistening flew past and clipped her arm and cheek.
Emily took a moment to realise what had happened, reaching up to feel her cheek. There as such a mix of feelings around her, for a moment she was confused, then frustrated and finally her own emotions transitioned into anger. Why the hell would the other girl actually attack her? She hadn't sad anything particularly provoking, not yet anyway. Her voice came out dripping with venom this time. "You know what's funny? I was going to offer to buy you a drink."
She wiped her cheek and slowly stood, intending to walk towards the bathroom as two of the bouncers in one of the corners pointed towards the area, at the crystals embedded near Emily's seat. "I'm not surpised someone as ill tempered as you can't get served." She shot as she stalked towards the bathroom to clean up her face and arm.

Emily watched the other girl out of the corner of her eye approach the bar and fail once again, to get a drink. She had to do her best to avoid smiling at it. Taking a long gulp from the drink she nearly gagged. It was pretty strong, she still wasn't used to strong spirits and the burn they left in her throat. She decided to take a few smaller gulps to try and lessen the burning. She watched the girl stalk around the room a little.
The British teen wondered why she was so intent on getting a drink, some people did it for various reasons, but in her case it was just to try and drown out all of the people that were swimming around in her head.
"Why are you so intent on getting drunk anyway?" Emily asked the girl as she looked around the room, completely ignoring her malicious intent as she downed the rest of her drink in one, choking on it a little.

Emily smirked at the bratty girl. She certainly didn't understand the way the world worked if she thought she was going to get far just being rude to everyone. (Hey, Emily was aloud to be a hypocrite) especially in a bar where pretty eyes and smoothness was the key to getting what you wanted. The brunette's smirk widened into a further, more playful one with the other girl. At least she wasn't a pushover, that made her even more interesting.
She visibly stifled a laugh. "Your feelings seemed less insufferable than everyone else's in here, I thought you might be more fun to drink with, but if you're simply content with being a lonely, bored *****, be my guest~" She turned and strolled over to the bar, forcing confidence into her body language. It was much easier if you made sure you didn't look in the slightest nervous when you did this kind of thing.
Emily gave a young male bartender her most enchanting (forced) smile and ordered a double vodka with cola, handing over a note she'd already readied as he came back with the drink. She made some friendly comments, not trying to actually engage in a conversation, just trying to appear more comfortable, before she slipped away from the bar, picking up her id and stuffing it back into her pocket, sliding into a corner and shutting her eyes for a moment, trying to focus on the music more than the room of drunk idiots.

Emily was focusing on the other girl's emotions more than anything else, as the other girl reacted to her she found herself wondering if the sudden flair of annoyance was because she was being talked to, the person was a woman, or the person was English. She didn't tend to pay too much attention to people's body language or words so much when she talked to them anymore, those things were easy enough to fake, but your innermost feelings were not.
As the other teen spoke Emily had to suppress the urge to laugh. She had dealt with French people before, she'd come across them when her Dad was doing business, and so many of their kids tended to be snooty little rich bitches, who turned down their nose at anyone they didn't think fitted their standards of dress and that. Though on reflection, maybe that was less the fact that they were French, and more their class and parentage.
She did feel a smirk hit her lips, and quirked an eyebrow. Emily had been to a public school for most of her life, she knew the sterotypes and such that those kids through at France, and she had to supress the urge to throw them into the conversation. "Your stunning charisma is obviously going to get you far in trying to get you a drink." She tried not to put too much sarcastic venom into her voice. "Is this your natural level of sass, or just a result of failing to get served too many times?"

The brunette stood, tapping her foot nervously to the rhythm of the music she could here booming inside of the bar that was standing in front of her as the bouncer held her (fake) ID and checked it, glancing at her and back at it. He handed her the ID and gestured to the door behind him, she took it back and smiled at him, attempting to look calm as she strolled past him inside the bar and stowed the bar. She wasn't stupid, and she was an empath, she could tell he was suspicious but let her in anyway...
Shrugging off the nerves that she'd been feeling she stepped inside, immediately struck by the intensity of the people's feelings around her. Alcohol definitely seemed to amplify feelings, or was it just the lowering of inhibitions? She didn't know. She didn't particularly care either. Since coming to New York, one of the best ways to alleviate headaches that she was now prone to was getting plastered in the bars, when she could get in that was.
The brunette was clad in a black leather jacket, torn looking skinny jeans and a black top with a listing of metal bands from a UK festival she'd once been to with her mother and one of her boyfriends. Emily glanced around the trying to gauge how people felt. It was a good way to work out which people to avoid, who was likely to get far too physical, who might be a really really annoying giddy drunk ect.
After taking a minute or two scanning the room, trying to sort through the mess that was slowly contributing to her headache before freezing on another girl. She tried to focus on the girl as at first, she thought all she was feeling was herself and not picking up much from the ragged looking teenager.
It took her embarrassingly long to work out that it was the other teen's emotions, not Emily's. It wasn't quite the same as the her own. If Emily's typical emotions were a mixture of low level frustration, anger and such. This girl's were a similar mixture... but almost as if the feelings were being shouted at Emily, conveying that they were stronger than her own. Emily spent a few seconds studying the other girl, watching the way the bar was eyed, as if trying to gauge which bartender was most likely to serve her. She smirked and approached.
"Trying to work out who you can get served by?" the Brit asked, her accent sounding distinctly out of place in the bar, if a little playful.
