The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

So much for having difficulty with speech... Nolan was actually quite the talkative gentleman, and at least somewhat knowledgeable about injuries. Malcom might have even found him endearing, if he wasn't drunk as a skunk and slurring every other sentence. "I'm sorry, you fell out of a building?" He exclaimed, still checking the man over for signs of more overt injuries at the very least. "Just how did you manage that?"
Sensing the burst of regret and apprehension, Malcom tried to be as quick with the process as he could be, without cutting corners or making mistakes. The Brit might have joked around about the issues with his job, and the hours quite frequently, but he actually took his practicing very seriously, and he wasn't about to make a potentially dangerous mistake that could threaten someone's health just because they were getting a little uppity.
Grimacing once again at the man Malcom shook his head in exasperation. "We'll be as quick as we can in that case Sir." he responded, gesturing to the nurse to hand him the kit for stitches. "As your paperwork was pretty rushed, do you have any allergies we need to know about, or any problems with local anesthesia?" He asked, opening the kit.

Mal shook his head in some exasperation. How could parents not be supportive of somebody with a rare talent? That was just insane to him. He knew that some people were more complex than they initially appeared to be. But still, if you were willing to have children you should be way more supportive than that. "I'm sorry to hear that Cait."
He blinked a few times and burst out laughing. "Oh, you're soooo going to regret suggesting that Hun." He smirked. "I'm going to either show all of you up, or perform so badly that I embarrass you guys enough that you never want to show your face again."
Laughing more he shook his head. "Thank you very much missy, I choose when I'm going to embarrassmyself." He peered at the adorable kitten and snorted again raising his hands and moving them jazz hand-like. "And when I do, I'll laugh. You'll laugh, everyone will laugh and it will be. F***ing glorious." Malcom exclaimed, most confidently.
He grinned at her. Before snorting at the second comment. "Oh trust me, if anybody is going to pick up on the mood around here, it's me. I'm an Empath hunny~" Before adding. "Oh, and I'm the great fun- No turning it off kind of empath on top of that."

He beamed at her feeling her concern. God, she was so sweet it was almost intoxicating. He was going to have to be careful to regulate his meetings with her to reasonable intervals, being near her for too long would be akin to getting a sugar rush. And the come down from that would probably be a sucky, because going from somebody so optimistic to grumpy tired out Doctors would be a mood killer.
He laughed. "Yeah, it's very very different overall." He admitted. It was pretty jarring when he first came over. Funnily enough he'd pretty much aced his English classes. Actually he was kind of an excellent student come to think of it. Safe for all the power headaches. And getting into trouble for putting things like ice cubes down other student's backs...
Shaking his head again at this comment he responded quickly. "They should be. Music is a very creative and admirable pursuit. I wish I had time to sing these days." He admitted.
He peeked at what was going on beneath the surface and chuckled. "I think I'm quite good without embarassing myself thanks."
Smiling again he shrugged. "Well unfortunately I can't show off anything flashy like you can, Ms Excitable ball of sunshine." he chimed.

Another advantage to being an Empath is you knew where was a good point to start or stop scolding, because you could feel the emotional reaction of the person you were talking to, and could tell if you'd pushed them too far or if they'd accepted what you were explaining to them. In this case, Kendra could tell she'd hurt Emily just as much as she'd managed to hurt herself by doing this, and she was repentant.
She felt a smile quirking at the corner of her lips as Kendra was admiring her, culminating in a kind of blush on an emotional and physical level. She smiled wider at her girlfriend and gave her a kiss on the cheek as she turned away to get dressed. Emily moved over and sat on the edge of the bed, observing her girlfriend's body as she tried to turn away. Emily had already come to terms with the injuries, there was no point in hiding them from her now.
She hid a wince as she saw how bashed Kendra's ribs were and sucked in a little through her teeth. As the redheaded dame finished pulling on the shirt and undergarments, Emily handed her some looser fitting trousers and smiled reassuringly. Well, what she hoped was a reassuring smile.
"Thank you." She replied softly. Giving her girlfriend a very gentle kiss on the lips before softly grasping her fingers. "We should take you to the Doctor. You might get another scolding, but I hear he's a healer, so that might be better than you walking around wincing every step." She suggested, very softly.

Malcom was quite amused by her in general, he was also glad that she shared what seemed to be mostly similar interests. He found language and history to be quite interesting, of course biology and medicine was more his thing. He liked figuring out how people ticked in more way than one, his power had really fed his curiosity over other people quite a lot. Psychology as a result, was a second love.
He met her concerns over the situation with another shrug. "Well it was a bit annoying, but there was other stuff going on around it that was bigger deal for me. Anyway, that whole situation is the reason I ended up over here to begin with, my Dad works here so I moved in with him for the last few years of being a teenager, then ended up studying here." He chuckled. "The US Education system is just a little bit different." He added with a note of sarcasm.
Her power? Ooooh now that was interesting. She wasn't a very visual mutant like some of the others he'd seen around. When she created a glowing... What was it called? It was one of those traditional fencing weapons. Rapier! That was it. Interesting choice. "You create weapons huh?..." It was really quite pretty actually. Very visual.
He pondered for a moment. "It's quite beautiful. It suits you well." He observed sincerely. Tilting his head at her he grinned playfully. "It's certainly more visually impressive than mine." He exclaimed.

My, the man was certainly nervous and his emotions were also definitely quite active, despite the fact that he was inebriated and in pain he was quite self aware. Mal was actually quite impressed. Somebody who had turned the sheet white colour that he had would normally not be nearly this cognoscente of the things around them.
He shook his head gently with a reassuring smile. "No of course not right now, my fault for not being more clear with my meaning." He admitted. "After we've diagnosed what's gone on with you, checked for extra injuries and you've had something to drink, cleared some of the alcohol through your system. Then we'll get you something."
He blinked at the man and shook his head gently. There was definitely some blood around the head area, and the man looked like he'd taken a good knock. On top of that, he wasn't exactly in the state best for judgement. "Sir, I can't say I recommend you leaving so quickly. For one thing you could have some internal damage, or a concussion." That, on top of a recently relocated shoulder wasn't fun for someone to deal with.
Him and a male nurse examined the man more closely. Gently moving his arm, and checking for any more obvious damage like sprains or breaks. Hopefully it was just a dislocation though. "Try and relax sir, we'll be as fast as we can." He spoke, reassuringly.

Emily was actually warming quite substantially to Leo, he was a pretty cool guy. And interesting if only for the fact that he didn't have any powers, and had managed to get himself enrolled at the school. She wondered how that had ever gotten managed in the first place, but she wasn't going to press too hard, especially when they were on a roll as far as a group project went. At least this was proving to show that she could actually play well with others on occasion.
"That's... actually quite interesting. Both of my parents are kinda boring." She replied. It wasn't entirely true. Her mother worked for a company that took part in conducting research for various new medical and cosmetic products, mostly for women. And her dad was near the top of a multi-national corporation that produced software for managing and regulating databases and products for things like hospitals and warehouses.
She actually chuckled at him and patted him on the arm. "Sorry, I'm not trying to be rude or anything, you're actually not awful company. I'd even be down for kicking your ass upside down in one of the lounges on some street fighter sometime, but too many people makes it hard for me to do much thinking at all, if they're in one place." She admitted.
"That would be great." She added before helping him pack up and setting off to somewhere a little less noisey.

It was always interesting to be around non standard mansion goers and study their emotions. The teachers were quite a mixed bag, but despite the show she was putting on, Emily found herself actually quite intrigued by this man, he was quite A-typical for them. She supposed it was possible that he was the one she'd heard the 'prison' rumours about, whether or not they were true was another matter entirely.
She wasn't overly interested in his assessment of her, which she could tell was happening. The frustrating thing about being an empath is you could generally pick up the gist of what a person was thinking, but never anything specific. Where other people were concerned it was like you were playing charades with their mind. Always on the general topic but always playing guesswork as to what was actually going on underneath.
Huh. Actual praise. That was not what she was expecting to be honest, she'd thought more criticism would follow. She shrugged. "With both art and music classrooms would probably be a little too much for me." She admitted.

Emily tilted her head at the other girl and thought about her comment. She'd never considered that there were other students who lived here that didn't actually study full time, just people who lived here as a sanctuary situation, or those who were just here for the purpose of power training, for that matter. Which also made sense, she couldn't really think of anywhere else that you could get that treatment, for free no less.
"I never thought that people might leave and come back.. odd." Upon realising she'd not answered yet she quickly moved to correct this. "I'm a student, final year here. Mostly moved over here for help with mutation stuff." She admitted.
She pondered for a moment. "The only male Art teacher here I can think of is that Holloway guy, I think he went to prison or something for a while?" She mused. "'Least that's what the rumours were saying for a while, it may have just been students spreading lies again though." she admitted.

Emily battled with some internal conflict as Kendra's emotions radiated off from her in waves. She hadn't really meant to make Kendra feel so much pain and conflict... Had she? Her Girlfriend was a sweet woman with mostly good intentions in as many cases as Emily could see but... Hadn't she? She wasn't above feeling hurt, and although she wasn't as good with her emotions as she was with other's, she was definitely feeling all kinds of upset over this.
Was this her lashing back out against Kendra because she'd hurt her?
No... Not entirely at least. She was in the right in this situation, mostly at the very least. Kendra had hurt her via her actions, and she'd also hurt herself. And it was just naive of her to think that it was a good idea to jump out and get herself into danger like that without training. For christ's sake, she had a phone with her at all times. How hard was it to freak out the people and act like a ghost, and phone cops?
Why did she have to get physical? Why'd she have to hide all this from Emily?
Emily tilted her head a little confused. "I'm not sure how much I could do, and I'm not exactly a shining physical specimen, but if you want me to of course." She hesitated. "I didn't exactly hear a promise or emotional conformation from you there Kendra..." She murmured.

Mal's smile widened and he chuckled. "Oh, you're definitely thinking of someone in particular. But that's fine, everyone finds their coworkers attractive at some point I suppose." He winked before petting the kitten a couple more times and standing up to stretch his stiff limbs a bit. There was definite embarrassment under there, so he let the path of the conversation move on from it, better she feel mostly comfortable.
And there was some frustration under there. Hmmm. Did Cait possibly have bad luck with romantic partners? That was a little hard to believe for Malcom, she was a little crazy for his tastes with the sheer level of perkiness she radiated, but she was pretty awesome to be around in general. And kind of cute on top of that.
He snorted at that. "My dad and I did some research on Latin a while back when he was looking for slogans and all that, it was interesting to see the contrasts between the languages that have spawned from it. English itself was odd, as it's such a miss mash of things." He admitted. Realising he may have been geeking out a bit he rubbed the back of his head a little and smiled again. "Sorry, didn't mean to go all nerd on you there." He chimed.
Aha, curiosity peeked! He shrugged, in no way ashamed of what had happened. He knew that his mother had nothing to do with it. "A couple years before I moved over to the US, my mother's company got into trouble for animal rights infringements when doing research for products and all that, you know the usual kind of corporate scandle. We had animal rights activists and crazies following us and threatening us for a long time."
He pondered his next input. "It was stressful for a while, but my Mother told me she didn't know about, and had nothing to do with it and I know for a fact she was telling the truth, so I'm completely over it." People dug up all that crap again when his dad started being contracted by prominent senators and all that, but again that wasn't really a problem for Mal.

The joke brought another burst of laughs out of him, and he shook his head in amusement. "Well I'm not entirely sure on that front, but I generally tend to take people under the influence with a pinch of salt." He chimed, stretching out his arms a little bit.
Smirking again at her blush he leaned forwards. "Oh, you're definitely thinking of someone in particular, is it someone I know of?" he teased.
Her emotions were intriguing, he turned back to the pet, giving it more attention, but still paying attention to her emotions themselves. He should probably make it clear to her that he could feel them at some point, but it was interesting to catch people off balance at first. Besides that, he shouldn't have to advertise his power, that would be messed up.
"Huh, well that is interesting." He replied, thinking for a moment. "I always found it pretty strange, compared to the Latinised languages at least."
Secret about himself? Hmmm. "My family was part of a large research scandle back in the UK." he replied thoughtfully. Well technically it was his mother that was in it.

All kinds of confusing emotions swirled around Emily, as her own mixed with what she was getting from Kendra, she was finding it harder and harder to keep her cool as she looked at the red haired dame, covered in bruises that probably ached more than anything Emily had to deal with on a daily basis. She just couldn't fathom why Kendra hadn't said anything to her, on top of that she'd snuck out.
She bit her lip pretty hard. "Kendra..." She didn't even know where to find the words to move across her feelings. "I... I can't believe you didn't even tell me you felt this way, or that this was something that you were doing." There was some fairly obvious hurt in her voice, even to somebody without her abilities. "You don't trust me that much, to tell me that you want to go out and help people like that?..." She trailed off.
She shook herself off. It was frustrating how emotional the other girl made her, she could feel something wet in the corner of her eyes and tried to shake it off before it formed into actual tears. She gently reached out and tipped the girl's gaze up to hers, giving her a weak smile. "Ok." She paused. "Promise me you won't do this until you've gotten training to look after yourself and..." She took a little gulp. "And I'll give you my full support." She promised.

Malcom laughed at the comment, still studying her emotions casually, as he laughed. "I can't remember the last time I went out on a date, most of the people that try to hit on me are full of pain medication and delirious from them." He replied with more than a little amusement in his voice.
Picking up on something he grinned again. "Are you thinking of someone in particular? And of course they can be, it's just harder to see that in them when you're stitching them up or dealing with them loopy as hell." He responded with some cheer. The kitten had once again started playing attack!Gnaw the fingers that were petting it, he chuckled at it. "You're soo cuuute." he chimed in a very musical tone reserved only for small children and pets.
He could feel the stress unwinding itself from the rest of her emotions and relaxed more himself. Perking up at the comment. "Oh? Gaelic then? That's not very common, even up north these days." He admitted, the other Languages in the isles were interesting, especially Welsh. Welsh was like a weird fantasy language.

Mal smiled most innocently as he reached over to the curious kitten and began to scratch behind it's ears, eliciting more nuzzling and purrs from the small furry creature. He burst out laughing at her comment and shook his head with a large smile, a confused kitten batting at his fingers for more attention, whereby he gave it more and turned to her with another knowing smile. "Oh, well you can't fault me for thinking so with the rumours of your rambunctiousness around the staff~"
He laughed again, it was a nice sound, very hearty. "I didn't really do anything I wouldn't do for anyone else, and I respect you guys. You know, people who tend to go into my profession don't tend to do it for the light hours or millions of dollars." He winked. Malcom genuinely got a kick out of helping people, especially with the empathy.
He nodded more. "I'd certainly like to get to know you all more, if only to help you all relieve some stress. Let me tell you, I know a thing or two about high stress work environments." He chuckled again before grinning at her, finishing up his cup of tea. "The pretty Brits are a good bonus on top of that." he added, half joking, half flirtatiously.
