The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He shook his head while the orderlies helped him over. It seemed that his level of soberness and injuries had combined into some kind of a painful slur. The orderlies got him to where he needed to be without too much trouble though, and that was what was important in the end. He listened to the man's mutterings whilst paying close attention to his emotions, it really gave him an advantage on the others.
He began to clock the man's injuries. He clearly had messed up his shoulder. He wasn't the most battered Mal had seen in here though, so it was probably a dislocation, rather than something more severe. Blood on the head, above the eyebrow. He'd need to check for a concussion. It was harder to do things with a patient that was pretty drunk though.
He picked up on the hesitation and resistance that came along with the comment about not speaking anymore.
He raised an eyebrow and then moved over to the man as he was sat down very gently. "Hello Sir, I'm Doctor Graves and I'll be seeing to you. So we're going to get you some pain relief quickly, but first I need you to try and answer a couple of questions for me regarding the nature of your injuries, so we can make sure we don't give you anything that's going to make anything worse, alright?" He had on his most reassuring voice, which was getting pretty damn so at this point.

Mal smirked more as he felt her emotions flittering around. It was always nice when you felt that some approved of or had taken a liking to you. Mal didn't very often find that people disliked him to be honest. He had quite the sense of humour, and had the advantage of using Empathy to dance around dodgier subjects and all that. On top of that his profession was pretty awesome, if on the whole exhausting.
He nodded again. "I've only lived here since I was a teenager myself, but I do understand your meaning there." he'd not thought about life in the UK for quite some time, his residency at the hospital had kind of been all consuming in terms of focus and other thoughts.
He really should give his mum a call when he got the chance, he kept up with her less than he kept up with his dad, but he didn't keep up enough with her. His relationship with her was pretty good overall, she was a pretty cool parent.
He tilted his head at that comment and smiled taking another sip of tea. "Well you'll just have to keep her life lively then." Sometimes people needed reminding that they should do things to destress. Working in the environment which he did, this was obvious to him.
He grinned at her once again. "That's out of the blue, did you want me to get to know you better all of the a sudden?" He quirked an eyebrow.

Mal smiled as he could feel her emotions warming to the situation. She was easy to please, it was funny. The fleeting impression's he'd had from the group were pretty mixed, but at the very least she seemed to be a bundle of happiness and sunshine. He couldn't see everything, given that he'd only just started hanging out with her, but he was fairly sure that this was a predominant emotional characteristic.
He laughed quite heartily at her awkward barrage of comments. "No not at all, I only got it after I'd finished, ran over anyway, and I've got no problem socialising with somebody else from the isles, especially somebody who happens to come equipped with a ball of fluff" He teased.
He smirked. "The trick is to find people to go out with where you can drink enough and mess around enough that you don't notice being hit on." He replied cheerily.
There was that name again, Juliette. He really needed to actually get to know her. He nodded and laughed again, shaking his head gently. "Whoa whoa there Cait, calm down. I'm sure that you are all being very responsible about her, I was just making a comment." He grinned. "You don't need to worry about what I think just because I have a doctorate, you guys are pretty impressive as it is, you don't need too much lecturing I'm sure."

Malcom was thusfar enjoying her company, and the little tailed beast was quite enjoyable in it's own way. Sitting and gnawing on his fingers, occasionally releasing a sound akin to a mew. He smiled down at it and continued to scratch it's tummy, prompting more of the playful attack on his hand. He swiftly picked up on the little pang of jealousy from the Scot that was in the room with him. It wasn't surprising.
"Milk and sugar please, Thanks." he responded with a bit of cheer. When she sat back down he flipped the kitten gently upside down and plopped it down in her lap. It rolled around hers still in the attack!play mode, radiating adorableness and melting the hearts of onlookers, as the little tailed beasts had a tendency to do.
He chuckled at her comment and smiled knowingly. "Are you sure it didn't have anything to do with you being up here on your own, and possible boredom that could incur from that?~" He teased fairly obviously.
He smiled again at the kitten and then took a sip of the tea, turning back to the red head. "I don't suppose I have to tell you that you'll need to make sure he stays in the upper levels and they are kept clean? You need to be careful about cross contamination and possible exposure to the other floors. Health and safety and all that."

Cait was certainly friendly, that much was true. He studied her emotions as she lead him towards the sitting area. She was so... happy. It was kind of odd. The X-men lived in not the greatest conditions, and they had a very un-glamorous job and got very little in the way of thanks. They must be exhausted all the time, and keeping up with having jobs and doing the heroing at the same time must have been awful.
But she was so perky. It was interesting and confusing at the same time. As they walked into the place he shut the door behind them and followed her over to the sofa, sitting a reasonable amount apart as to not overheat either of them. He stretched out his arms and legs and stifled another yawn before lying back and immediately being set upon by a curious kitten, which immediately crawled up onto his legs and started sniffing around.
He chuckled and started to stroke it gently down it's length. He'd heard of animal empaths before, but his particular power didn't extend to those creatures. He was fairly sure he could tell what the kitten was thinking though, judging by the way it rolled over, purring and started attacking the hand playfully, pawing at his fingers and then grabbing one between two paws and chewing on it. It was truly heart melting to watch.
"Awwwwwwww" His voice came out more highly pitched than intended. He cleared his throat and turned to the Scottish lass and nodded. "That would be lovely, thank you."

Malcom stretched his arms out when he walked up to the base, he knew that there was another staff member that saw to them, Juliette was her name, he was fairly certain. But he'd not interacted with her too much yet. There was so much going on at any given time in the building he felt like he didn't know nearly enough people there, hopefully that'd change soon.
The X-men were a force for good too, so he was happy to get to know them a little bit. He stifled a yawn as he walked into the room, seeing a cute redhead perky girl was always good for waking you up. Especially when they had seemingly as much energy as her. He offered her a worn, but still genuine smile as she noticed him. What was she holding was that a scarf or...
CAT!
He missed the pets he'd had with his mother as a child, and cats were always his favourite. In fact this one looked like a slightly malnourished kitten. A rescue pet? "Hi there Cait." The Brit responded before looking down at the bundle of fur and excitement in her arms. "And this must be said floof. Hello there little one~" He gently scratched it's ears.

The situation with the newcomer seemed to be worsening a bit, he tried to respond in what the nurse perceived as an admittance of his blood-alcohol level. With how hectic the day had been she'd just gotten progressively more irate. Which wasn't a good thing in a nurse or receptionist, but Mal wasn't about to say that out loud to the woman, lest risk bringing her ire onto himself.
He seemed to sway and change colours like a sheet. The nurse quickly grabbed the paper that he was signing and waved another nurse over to help him up. Mal had just finished and sensing the emotions of the staff and the man himself decided to place himself to try and defuse it before any of the others got into worse moods than they already were. And on top of that, the man didn't look very well.
"Sir, would you like to just step this way, I'll see to you quickly." He chimed in a soft, firm tone as one of the male nurses moved to help the man onto his feet and over into an area with seats and a bed.

Mal was working his way through the end of a long shift. It was pretty late, and for a change he was actually pretty wired. It had been a pretty laid back day for once, only with the occasional spike of real activity going on. Of course his phone was residing in his locker in one of the employee areas whilst he worked, as he didn't really feel like getting into trouble the the hospital staff over something stupid.
And as the work day sometimes had a tendency to do so, ran over by about half an hour. Everything suddenly spiked in activity whilst his replacement was running late so he spent the last 10 minutes, and then another 30 afterwards of his working day going nuts. He sighed as his replacement walked in and apologised profusely for running over, offering a smile as he could tell the woman was feeling pretty embarrassed over the whole thing.
He flicked open his locker and pulled out his things, getting changed into more comfortable clothes before seeing his phone was flashing, picking up he blinked. Had Dad finally gotten back to him? He was so busy these days it was hard to arrange a meeting.
Nope, it was from... Cait? Who was Cait? He'd worked with a few of the people upstairs. Was she the one with wings? Oh... Was she the Scottish one? He shrugged, needing to de-stress and thinking that getting to know some of them when he wasn't stitching them up might be a decent idea.
Re reading it he blinked. What did she mean touch the floof? Was that supposed to be some kind of inuendo? A game or an in joke? He supposed he'd find out soon enough.
Hey, Sure. Could use it. 5 mins.
Before he nipped to the cafeteria to grab a sandwich and munched it on his way upstairs, and keying his way in, looking around the office space.

Long shift tonight. Mal was craving getting outside for some drinks and something more substantial to eat. It sucked when people called in sick, it really did. He didn't have any particular issues with a hard shift but damn did it take it's toll if they were understaffed. It wasn't just on him either, his co workers found themselves feeling grumpy, which made the whole experience a little less fun.
He'd just finished with stitching up a teenager who'd come in after a car crash when him and his friends got a hold of some drinks and gotten themselves a little bit out of it, and as a result needed some attention. And filing a report of the injuries. Blegh. He smiled and reassured the freaked out kids while he saw to them, the nurse who was processing in that area however was more than a little bit irate at this point which was... a good sign.
When the next person came through she looked like a kettle that had been left to boil just a little too long. He was bleeding a bit, and was struggling to sign the paper, wavering like he himself was also made of paper. She raised an eyebrow at him. "Sir, are you drunk?" She asked, in a not so friendly tone.
Playby Name: Crystal Reed for Emily and Daniel Gillies 2 different URLs for images you like: I shall leave it down to your fine eye for sig picutres~ Is there anything different between the versions of your character that you want to call out?: I mean, obviously Mal is a dude And a Doctor! There are a few images floating around with him in scrubs, but I'm really not fussy on that point ^-^ Skinny sigs please <3
Character's full name: Malcom Graves Alias/ Nickname/ Code name: Mal Gender: Male Age:25 Date of Birth: (04/14/1992) Birthplace/ Home/ Place of origin:Reading, United Kingdom Nationality:British Ethnicity/ Cultural Heritage:Caucasian
Appearance
Hair color and style:Brunette, relatively short, without too much work put into it. Skin Tone: Slightly more tanned than Emily Eye Color: Hazel Height: 5’11” Build: Athletic Visible mutation: Nada. Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: Nope. Other features: None.
Everyday clothing style: Malcom wears mostly plain shirts, whites and blues with various types of jeans or chinos. Fairly casual wear most of the time, occasionally wearing suits if the occasion calls for it. But he prefers comfort over appearance any day of the week. Uniform:Scrubs. Sleepwear: Usually just boxers or shorts. Miscellaneous clothing: A purple leather wristband that’s always on unless he’s at work.
Character
Personality: Compared to his female counterpart, Mal is quite an outgoing and friendly person to almost everyone he meets, he’s known around his friend groups and workplace as a bit of a joker, only in the light hearted sense. This is mostly a mask though, it’s what Mal is like most of the time to most new people that meet or encounter him.
Under the surface there is also a much more serious, morally driven individual, who is careful in considering his actions before he takes them, using his power to his advantage In such situations and when dealing with the people that he is treating. Hobbies/ Interests: He used to love attending open mic nights and showing off his voice, but lately he hasn't had too much time to be able to do this, due to the requirements of his work schedule. Other than that he keeps up to date with psychological and biological developments that have a large impact on the fields. Job or part time job and description: Malcom is a full time Doctor, entailing surgery as well as various degrees of consultation depending on what is required for patients, and as such has an extremely busy working schedule with long hours. Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Malcom is relatively easy going. As with most practicing doctors and surgeons, he’s afraid of messing up and causing patients to pay the cost for his screw ups. On top of that he’s pretty terrified of damaging himself badly or losing his ability to practice from age. Special talents: Mal is an excellent singer, having a wide vocal range and a lot of passion.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Good. Plain and simple, Malcom is a very moral soul, he went into practice because he could feel the negative emotions and sorrows of those around him, and decided that he wanted to do something to make a real difference to people’s lives. On top of that, he’s obviously taken the hipiocratic oath and strives to use his knowledge to help people, never doing harm.
Mutations
Mutation description: Exactly the same, but he has had longer to practice with it, so he’s better with managing the headaches and emotions that come with it. Strengths: Weaknesses and Limitations: Same.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: Malcom is in good physical condition. He works out in his periods of time off, and he has very good reflexes and a good amount of precision with steady hands. Fighting Style: Malcom has no formal fighting style or training, but as he is well versed in human biology he knows where to hit people to make it hurt, and a fair amount of upper body strength behind it. Fighting Style Pros/Cons:Obviously he has no formal training so anybody who knows what they are doing would easily mop the floor with him. In his own words, He’s a doctor not a fighter.
History Of Your Character Malcom was born to a couple who were both relatively high in the UK’s business industry, his mother was a marketing director for a female beauty product company. His father on the other hand, had a fairly high management position in a corporation that dealt with the computing systems used In a variety of office environments, and product designs. The two of them had a passionate romantic fling, but only stayed together due to Malcom’s pregnancy.
A few years into the child’s life, his parents realised just how incompatible they were…. Partially due to Mal’s mother cheating on her father on several, extended occasions. Mal was in primary school when this happened, and up until this point he’d had a fairly standard childhood for a boy raised in that area of the UK. His mother stayed in Reading, with her Son. Mal’s father moved a couple of towns over, so he could still see him on weekends.
As Male he naturally had a lot more freedom and space to express himself, compared to his MRO counterpart. His relationship with his dad was a lot more easy going and with a lot less outwards affection, his Father ended up taking his business to greater heights and ended up working with and having contracts with a number of prominent senators, and becoming a figure in the public eye in the States.
Most of his childhood and early teenage years were spent as a happy free spirited joker, pulling pranks on friends and parents with mostly light hearted intents. His visits with his dad, though a lot more sparse than he would have liked, were some of the most happy moments of these years. Eventually his mother’s company was accused of certain illegal business and animal rights’s practices, which lead to a bunch of death threats and activists lurking, one of which jumped the two of them and threatened them up close.
The stress of these events triggered an early activation of Malcom’s empathy at the age of 12. He remained with his mother for another 2 years before she decided that he should move over to spend more time with his dad, as it was also the lurking issues and stigma against her and her company that caused her to come to this decision. He came to terms with it, and remained on excellent terms with his mother even after the move, as when he questioned his mother about the knowledge of the illegal activities, she told him the truth in that she did not.
Malcom received private schooling in the states in his Dad’s area, struggling slowly but over time getting the hang of his power, and not letting it overwhelm him. Most of the students around him came from affluent parents, and ended up going for fields such as business and politics, trying to make large sums of money and gain influence like their parentage, on the whole anyway.
Malcom himself though, ended up being driven more towards helping people, especially after his power manifested and he could sense the ire in those around him. He worked diligently towards becoming a Doctor to help people, and has recently completed his residency and frequently finds himself offering his expertise to the the X-men, who happen to work out of his the vicinity in which he conducts his work.
Roleplay Where did you learn about this site?: Shin. I think. Wayyyy back when. Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Emily (Obviously) And Serena/Alice. Sample RP: >-> Look at my other lovelies~

Emily really didn't know how to respond to Kendra standing there beyond her already on going freakout and cursing. She looked up at her girlfriend's face, studying it. There was something reflected there.. Her emotions were mixed. Was she trying to hide things from Emily? Then the story started to come out, all in a rapid burst.
She frowned at Kendra. She didn't know that the other girl had such a desire for justice hidden underneath the surface. How could she have not known that? She'd shared a bed with her... She shared all of her feelings, and she could sense all of Kendra's deeper emotions on top of that, but she didn't know about this....
She wasn't a telepath, obviously. She could see into people's minds that way, only extrapolate things from their emotions. But... Kendra was her girlfriend, and Emily had been fairly sure that she'd been falling for the other girl. She was very very good with other people's emotions and how to move and dance around them, but often not so good with her own...
It took her a few moments to register what was actually going on. She was upset. She was annoyed with Kendra for not having shared these feelings with her, and she was upset with herself for not being good enough to find out about it, and not being a good enough girlfriend to figure it out on her own.
"I...." She took a deep breath. Trying to bat down her emotions, she responded after a few beats. "Well, I'm glad to hear that somebody was not assaulted, even if it looks like you were." She began, emotions heavy in her tone. "But I'll repeat. What. The. ****."
Her anger flared, anger at herself, anger at Kendra. Anger that she hadn't woken up when she sensed Kendra's powered form leave. "You keep your phone with you every night don't you? Couldn't you... Call the cops? Or freak him out with your voice? Or get anyone else nearby to come and help?" She continued. "The X-men, and the Cops for that matter are trained to professional standard, look what happened to you..." She gently ran a finger along the other girl's lips.
Emily sat on the bed, listening to the hum of the shower and stewing in her own thoughts, about what it was that could be making Kendra so apprehensive over her. Was she THAT bad last night? She somehow didn't think so... Though, she wasn't terribly experienced either so maybe... Ugh, it was really confusing.
At least, that was until Kendra stepped out of the bathroom. Huh. She barely even took note of the other girl's emotions, focusing entirely on what was up with her body. They knew how each other's powers worked, which meant that after the two of them had finished for the evening and fallen asleep she'd... snuck out somewhere and gotten herself beaten to a bloody pulp....
Emily's reaction went through a few phases, surprise, curiosity, and annoyance.
"I'm not even sure I want to know what was going through your mind when you got yourself into that state." She stated simply. "What. The. ****, Kendra."

Truth be told, Emily was a lot more impressed with Leo than she'd initially thought she'd end up being. The boy had been the one without the pre-conceptions, on the most part at least. The comment about women and hormones made her wanna give him a good whack, but with his healthy fear of her, she'd decided that smacking him might be reinforcing those habits and thoughts just a little too much.
She moved over and eyed the notes he'd been taking while she'd gone off describing and paraphrasing things she was reading. Again, she found that typically this was one of the best ways to plan for a presentation, if you paraphrased it was very difficult to get accused of plagiarism.
She eyed over his shoulder with what turned into a smirk. "You are indeed, quite a good hand at transcribing." She admitted. His grammar, and general writing quality was pretty great. And he seemed to have an excellent amount of concentration going on it too. "Your concentration is nothing to frown about either."

Emily smiled at the other girl. She'd expected some kind of a slightly harsher reaction, especially considering it was fairly obvious that she'd been lying over the other thing. The girl seemed pretty young though all things considered, so maybe it was that young naivete shining through, she wasn't entirely sure on that front though. It was always possible that Abby was genuinely just a friendly person.
She smiled at the younger girl and offered her hand. "Nice to meet you Abby, I'm Emily." She supplied, wandering exactly what the other girl's mutation entailed.
