The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

For next month’s Newsletter!
The New Year and all those holiday sweets have got us thinking:
Tempest wants to swap recipes! Recipes and Kalos needs all your cake recipes. All of them.
Have I mentioned that Jorge made two calendars? Because he totally did and you should check them out! It’s the last month before you miss AJ and Gina (Mr and Ms January).
Thanks to Jorge Cervantes for taking the initiative to propose and run this event! We’ve hammered out the logistics between us and we’ll be laying out some some additional stipulations for joining these threads in order to keep this plot from running too long.
These threads are open to all, but please read the additional requirements for this plot.
DON’T SIGN UP IF YOU WON’T WRITE SCARED These threads will contain the potential for your character to be affected by a fear effect from the bad guys. A number will be assigned to your character and a die will be rolled by Jorge Cervantes and announced at each turn from the villainesses. In the spirit of good old halloween fun, please try to write your character affected as described. Don’t sign up if you aren’t willing to incorporate the random.
On that same note, if the dice have not allowed you to post scared and you want to, you are allowed to fail your dice roll if you think that makes for a better story.[/ul]
Lego help explain expected fear levels from no fear to full on anime.
Jorge Cervantes will be keeping track of your fear scale so be sure to check the NPC post to see if your fear track has officially progressed. If you elect to fail a roll, please indicate that with an OOC tag and/or by letting Jorge know. Jorge will be rolling 1 or 2 dice depending on how many thread participants have signed up. Your fear track will only ever progress making the end of these threads guaranteed for maximum spoopiness.[/ul]
3-6 CHARACTERS PER THREAD We would like to aim for a minimum of 3, but will allow a maximum of 6 characters in each thread. This means that there are, at most, 18 character slots. Please look at the locations provided and decide which one makes the most sense for your character.
Once you’ve decided you want to play, post in this thread with your character account tag (the @ name used for tagging) and indicate which location you want to play in. Threads and thread slots are first come, first serve.
ONE CHARACTER PER PLAYER Because character slots are limited per thread, please give others a chance to get in on the action by choosing one character from your portfolio to include in this plot.
PRIORITIZE THIS THREAD To ensure that this plot concludes before Easter of 2019, players will have at maximum 24 hours to take their turn and make their reply. If you fail to post within your 24 hour posting window, your turn will be skipped and it is up to you to make it back into rotation when it becomes your turn to post again.
If you know you will have a difficult time posting within that strict time limit, please refrain from joining this plot. As always, keep the lines of communication open between you and the other players in your thread. Anything agreed on mutually will supersede strict posting order.
IN CHARACTER INFORMATION We filtered out character information from characters that do not have their own account, this includes oldbies so old their accounts are ashes in a server fire and AV characters. All the resulting data comes from 67ish characters. Remember that all questions were voluntary which may result in fuzzy numbers.
WHAT THE CHARACTERS LOOK LIKE
CHARACTER GENDER We have 29 Male characters, 35 Female characters, 2 characters with a Variable gender, and 1 nonbinary gendered character. We would also like to give a shout-out: We currently have two characters providing transgender representation on the site in the mix!
CHARACTER HEIGHT Our tallest character is "Chief" who stands 7 foot 2 at her tallest. (That's 218ish centimeters for those who don't use Freedom Units™.) Runner up goes to Aleksandr who slithers in at 6 foot 9 inches. (Almost 206 cm.) Our shortest character is Kalos who stands 4 foot 1 at her tallest ( That's 124.5 cm and the half matters very much when you want to be as tall as you can!)
Please note that "average" and "dunno" are not numbers.
CHARACTER EYE COLORS 21 characters with Brown eyes. 20 characters with Blue eyes. 5 characters with Black eyes. Yeah, I know, but this is black so I couldn't do it. 5 characters with Green eyes. 3 characters with Grey eyes. 2 characters with Hazel eyes. 11 characters with Non-standard colored eyes.
Please note that all adjectives have been removed for your safety.
CHARACTER HAIR COLORS Maybe he was born with it; maybe it's a mutated gene.
Brown wins the overwhelming majority with 28 characters. 15 characters have Black hair. 9 characters have Blond hair. 5 characters have red hair. 4 characters have NO HAIR. 8 characters have unnaturally colored hair either by dye or mutation. No YOU got too lazy to do the crazy color thing.
CHARACTER SKIN TONES For our skin tones, we asked that players rate the color of their character's skin on the Von Luschan's scale so that we had some manner of consistency. Because we all know that when we give players input fields, you're gonna do weird stuff.
31 Characters are fair skinned. 18 characters have beige to light brown skin. 8 characters will burn if you so much as mention the word "sunlight." 4 characters are dark brown to black. 6 characters have inhuman colored skin either by carapace, metal, scale, or skin.
HOW THE CHARACTERS LIKE IT
CHARACTER SEXUALITY
WHEN AND WHERE THE CHARACTERS ARE FROM Characters whose birthdays and birthplaces are unknown didn't make the cut.
CHARACTER COUNTRY OF ORIGIN While our RP is set primarily in New York, we have characters from all over the world.
Oh look! A map!
Of those 'Muricans, you might be wondering which states our characters hail from. So glad you asked.
CHARACTER BIRTHDAYS Neopolitan said this chart was useless, but I'll let you be the judge of that. BEHOLD! Birthdays! What do the colors mean? It's one of the ancient mysteries of the 2017 MRO survey. As you can see, we have no characters with birthdays that fall in the early days of March or April.
The more useful chart is this one which sorts characters by month only.
CHARACTER AGES Our average character age is ooooooold, AKA 60 years old. Our median character age is 26 years old.
FACTION BREAK DOWN
CHARACTERS IN FACTIONS
49.3% of our character population is currently unaffiliated. 19.4% X-men 16.4% Haven 9% S.U.P.E.R. 6% Syndicate
It's difficult to sustain some good old fashioned evil throughout character arcs. Give your local baddie some love. <3
We had an awesome response rate! Out of 29 active users (with 62 active characters), 27 members (with 68 characters*) replied which is a 93% answer rate. All answers were given voluntarily and mostly on time. Shoutout to Tempest who was the first to finish his survey 15 minutes and 58 seconds after it was announced. These survey results are just for fun and the pictures make this a lengthy and data-heavy journey. Make sure you're on wifi. And make sure you have fun. Or else.
*Wait! 68 out of 62 characters!? That doesn't math! How can this be so? Some of you filled out the form with INACTIVE characters. Yeah. This is my grumpy face.
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION Settle in 'cause it's about to get real.
OOC PLAYER GENDERS We have a 55.6% Male player base and a 44.4% Female player base.
OOC PLAYER AGES 20's and 30's is where it's at. Our average age is 27 years old. Our median age is also 27.
OOC PLAYER SCHOOLIN' Our players are pretty well educated with 74% having at least some amount of college under their belt. (Fun fact: We've had one college grad since this survey data was collected! Congrats! )
OOC WHERE ARE WE FROM? 66.7% of our players are from the United States of America. (No, Fuegogrande , The Republic of Texas is not a country ) Shout out to Canada for bein' a nice lil hat and a fantastic runner up.
Of those 'Muricans, you might be wondering which states we come from. (No, Fuegogrande , The Republic of Texas is not... Oh. Well, it is a state. Carry on.) We're pretty wide spread, but this year the Californians have it.
OOC PLAYER LANGUAGE We have 2 non-native English speakers, both of which consider English and 1 other language to be their "native" languages. For the rest of us schlubs, there is plenty of language learning interest.
WHERE ELSE DO OUR PLAYERS ROLEPLAY? It's not that MRO isn't enough, it's that sometimes we elect to leave our caves in search of face-to-face interaction. I did say "SOMETIMES" quit rolling your eyes.
Clearly, none of us know how to be ourselves, so we'll continue to be other people, and here's how...
WE USED TO HAVE SITE SKIN VARIATIONS - HERE'S THE PROOF Once we finish working out the bugs from this skin, we'll probably be making adaptations of some of our old skins. This handy chart will tell us where to start. Looks like we chose well when we started with an upgrade to "Rain" for the default.
This chart brought to you by the color thistle.
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN THERE'S A GLIDER ALL UP IN YO' BIDNESS? "Advanced Correct Answers" included some combination of a :reglider: and a follow up :boom: or  The real moral of the story is that only 2 people were brave enough to admit defeat. The of y'all be crazy. Probably on purpose.
HOGWARTS HOUSE BREAKDOWN We asked you guys what your house was as dictated by the Pottermore quiz.
HOW ADDICTED ARE WE?
We need to re-work the addiction test. The results were so varied, it was impossible to normalize them. Suffice to say, we're addicted.
A useful read for you might be the Returner's Quickstart, and if you have any further questions on how to navigate the site redesign, we have a guide for that too. Feel free to PM or hop into the chat box if you have any further questions. Glad to see you back!
Predict and avert conflict by means of tagging and tracking mutants.
Experiment on mutants in order to provide a cure and determine mutant limits.
Recruit mutants into service of the USA to further world military superiority.
Response priority is to help humans first, Adapteds second, and mutants last.
Strive for anonymity, secrecy, and plausible deniability.
Faction Leadership Structure:
Jim Fine and Chris Williams are the NPC leaders which means that anyone in the SUPER faction must take initiative in order to be involved. There won't be a leader handing you easy ideas, but you'll have more freedom in how you execute your threads.
Faction Expectations:
All faction members will be secretive about who they work for, all information they report in to Op Sec is Secret level "Need to Know" which means it is not sharable information. Any sharing of mutant activity with any parties not authorized by SUPER leadership will be considered an act of espionage and is punishable by warning, dismissal, or possible internment.
Agents are charged with identifying threats. As such they are expected to learn about and know all key mutant figures. Enforcers are charged with containing and subduing any threat deemed to have inappropriately used a mutation. We're not talking small offenses, but the large things like shooting cars off of bridges or tearing down buildings: any time massive damage is made an enforcer will be deployed to attain reparations (aka: a beat down and a warning not to do it again).
Evergreen Faction Thread Ideas:
Bag and Tag: Every field member of SUPER is equipped with a chip gun. If they find a mutant that fits a SUPER profile, they are authorized to take the necessary steps to tag said mutant. OOC MISSION NOTES: This mission is open to any mutant that would like an encounter with an Agent trying to tag them. Whether the tag is successful or not will be negotiated OOCly beforehand. Either way, data will be taken from the encounter. Agent actions must be discreet. Agents must act in order to keep property damage to a minimum.
Analysis: Analysts back at HQ may notice a number of tags congregating in one place or an algorithm my suggest that a mutant event is imminent. Agents or Soldiers may be sent as needed. OOC MISSION NOTES: This mission is for anyone who wants an excuse to have a group brawl. Can be on American soil or overseas and may include holiday bad guys.
Erratic Tags: Noticing erratic behavior of a tagged mutant, an analyst may send an Agent or Soldier to engage the mutant to find out why. OOC MISSION NOTES: This mission is for any mutant with an active tag that has grossly deviated from their normal behavior (drastic changes in location, a lot of power triggers within a timespan, etc.).
Experimentation: Whether captured or in the “wild” mutants can provide useful data to SUPER. Any SUPER are authorized to push mutants to their limits for the sake of SCIENCE! Give SUPER an excuse for a new datapoint and they will give you hell. OOC MISSION NOTES: Need some trauma in your life? Have you found your characters limits? Are you looking for an excuse to try out a new power growth?
Differences from groups:
Humans want to maintain status quo, so does SUPER. These two have harmonious goals.
SUPER is like the X-men in that they value life and believe themselves above the law, however, as an actual branch of the United States government, SUPER enjoys some legitimate power when it comes to interactions between SUPER and the police.
SUPER would be a foil to the Syndicate. Where the Syndicate believes the world must end and be built again (with mutants in charge) from the ashes, SUPER believes the current system is fine and will actively work to protect the status quo. Law and order are their supreme ideals.
Haven is unknown to SUPER. They are fundamentally opposed in that Haven is focused on helping mutants, SUPER is focused on helping those poor disadvantaged humans.
SUPER has a love/hate relationship with mutants as a whole. One one hand, they are terrible at keeping a lid on their oddities and often are the cause of disruptions and dangerous situations, on the other hand SUPER could not function without some of the more unique abilities that allow them to gather information.
Adapteds as a whole are too small to have a social agenda as far as SUPER is concerned.
How to Interact with other groups:
Humans are the people that Super will champion. As part of a powerless group of people, SUPER is expected to prioritize their help.
X-men are to be ignored. SUPER is not a law enforcement agency so we can afford to look the other way from acts of vigilantism so long as damage is kept to a minimum. Overt use of a mutation by an agent goes against the primary goal of remaining low-key and undetected. Disengage or remove from the public eye in order to tag or suppress the threat.
The Syndicate is to be stopped. Any members are to be subdued and tagged or captured and experimented on.
Haven are to be treated as any other mutant unless they are acting suspicious. Follow and report.
Mutants with obvious physical tells are to be tagged. If they are perceived to be isolated or 'unwanted' they are free to be experimented on.
Mutants with powers that are considered strong enough to threaten a building are to be tagged.
Mind-affecting psychics are to be tagged and recruited and controlled.
Adapteds are to be recruited or coerced into recruitment for their own safety.
Strategic Unit for Preternatural Experimentation and Research (aka SUPER) Ideals
Many employers will tell you that you can make a difference in your career, but few offer the opportunity to do so on behalf of your country. We serve the masses. 90% of people are humans who would like nothing more than to go through their day in peace. These are the little guys, the silent majority who have no power and who, until SUPER, had no one to hold others accountable on their behalf.
We keep ahead of the bleeding leading edge of information. Information is power for those who were born powerless. It helps those in power make informed decisions. Control of information is everything. If there are secrets, we want to know them. If there is power, we want to measure it. If there is misuse of mutations, the punishment will be severe.
As part of the premier agency responsible for intelligence about the ever-changing political, social, economic, technological and military environment, SUPER continuously offers exciting and challenging career opportunities. Work with very smart people in very smart ways to stop those who know less and are less. No working day will be the same for you, ever. You'll have limited area access to global events, legal authority to command situations, and contribute to the work of a nation at the center of intelligence.
Apply your skills to help us collect, assimilate, analyze, and report information in support of US government policy decisions.
NPC Staff: Jim Fine: Director of SUPER. Human. Jim's responsibilities are the "big picture" plans for the SUPER department. When the political poo hit the fan, he serves as a shield to protect and preserve the function and funding for SUPER. He is also in charge of disciplinary action.
Chrysanthemum “Chris” Williams: Head of SUPER Operations. Human. Chris' job is to assign work details, projects, and assignments. Agents will have the most personal interaction with Chris.

SUPER Op Sec
Sandwiched between a debt settlement office and J. Ramirez’s Dental School sits a beige, three story building, unmarked. Men and women staff the building 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They walk through the front doors in pressed suits after tapping a blank card to a RFID scanner.
This is Operations Security, the support staff for SUPER field members referred to as OpSec. The SUPER director and SUPER head of operations can both be found at this location from time to time. SUPER members can visit for meetings or paperwork, but are generally discouraged from drawing attention to this location.

It is undeniable at this point. Work has picked up in general and I'm taking a drive down to see family next week so expect replies to be thin in the near future.
This affects Ghost, Raine, Noel/Nolan, Jude/June, Kalos, and Sennyo
The thread to post your forceful ejection into the otherverse is here, so Hold on to Your Butts! if you're interested in swapping your characters around between universes.
In the news this week, what appear to be mirages are affecting the flow of time in New York city proper. Unlike real mirages which are optical illusions caused by atmospheric conditions, these disturbances are very real and potentially harmful.
Experts are calling these mirages “temporal phenomena” and these marvels have been sweeping across New York city. Manhattan, in particular, has been hit hard this week with disturbances causing several traffic incidents, including one major 14 car pileup near the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge.
Mayor Dove’s office has released the following statement:
“If you find yourself inside one of these time mirages, please stay calm. Moving in and out of time can be dangerous. If you spot a time mirage please dial 3-1-1 for non-emergency reporting. Dial 9-1-1 only if you have an immediate emergency requiring police, fire, or ambulance services.”
Little is known about the cause of these disturbances in time, but there is plenty of speculation that it may be due to mutant powers. We had news anchor Kurt Brobane catch up with Devon Hadden, a mutant socialite and psychologist and he had this to say:
"Should mutant activity be regulated for safety?" “From scientists to gun owners: education, responsibility, and training are important in a complex society.” "Have you ever lost control?" “In my early teenage years I struggled, but I have learned ways to live a happy, fulfilling life.” "How safe do you feel?" "Hadden's Havens and Haven have no comment."
Others had this to say: "What have mutants done for this city?" A reporter jogged after a blonde woman in her mid-thirties. “Built it up and torn it down. Drawn lines and made enemies. Everybody’s freaking nuts.” She laughed into the microphone. The camera cut to a man with a buzz cut answering into a hand mic, “They've probably given the construction industry a pretty solid boost.” “...boosting industry.” echoed an asian man, cut from a different interview. The reporting continued by following a reporter asking the question and then bouncing between answers cut together from the different interviews.
"Should mutant activity be regulated for safety?" A teen with disheveled hair was cornered this time, “...even if they're mutants they deserve a right to privacy and stuff like that." “...If they commit a crime they should be regulated…” the asian answered. “I mean if they're violent criminals yeah,” buzz cut said.
"Do you know anyone who's powers could kill if they weren't careful?" “Yes. It’s a terrible burden for anyone to bear.” “Oh plenty. I know a guy who can lift a truck if he wanted.” “This makes me hate mutants, they don't deserve to live here"
"If there was a way to limit your power to save lives would you do it?" “Absolutely.” The woman answered. “If it would save lives then yes, definitely." Said the asian man. “My powers are a part of who I am. No.”
"Would you be opposed to a Department of Mutant Affairs?" The buzz cut man answered jovially, “...governmental regulation always helps solve a problem.” The blonde answered like it was a no-brainer, “Yeah.” “I think I would support a Department of mutant affairs,” the asian man replied, “as I think some general education would help to reduce misconceptions and reduce the division between mutants and humans.”
In other news, today we celebrate a supermoon event with a Flatiron Plaza Lunar Eclipse Food Festival. Vendors from across the city will circle up their food trucks and have lunar treats for sale like the Vegetarian Delight Truck’s “Grilled Carrots” in honor of the rabbit who’s making mochi on the moon. Yum!
Be sure to look up today as the eclipse is already in full swing now at 6:21pm and should last about 2 hours. All ages are welcome to the Flatiron Plaza Eclipse Food Festival and the party will keep going until 2am, long after the eclipse is through. Get your tickets—
/KRSSSCHK/
Broadcast news cut off to instead show an emergency report. In darkness, lit only by the light of the camera stood a lone news reporter, holding his microphone and leaning against an invisible wind. Street signs and other detritus ghosted past, only reflecting the barest illumination.
“We are reporting live from Flatiron Square. The time is now—” static buzzed and the camera shot faded into snow and back again. “—there appears to be some kind of weather phenomenon. The wind is just incredible and—”
An audible buffet of air cut off the reporter with a BOOOMBF. Where the man had been leaning against the wind, suddenly he and the cameraman were blown the other way. It took a few steadying steps to get everything back into frame.
“We’ve, we’ve just experienced a large-scale… there’s something crazy happening. My ears are, the pressure is insane! Hey! Hey! Turn the camera, turn the camera. Look!”
In the center of Flatiron Plaza, a blurry-edged glowing hole wavered.
This post has been narrated! <3 Thank you Calcifer and Fuegogrande for your voices <3 Thank you to those that answered the Man on the Street interviews! I hope Wolf News adequately misrepresented your answers >)
