The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Got a plot in mind?
MRO plots are player-created the Mods facilitate and organize the big ones, but we get the ideas from you. Do you have a plot in mind, and want to know whether it needs Mod approval? Check out our plot guidelines.
Playby Name: Garett Hedlund 2 different URLs for images you like: MRO Geo and AV Geo Is there anything different between the versions of your character that you want to call out?: MRO Geo is speaks in greens and is more a wild man. AV Geo speaks in a rich brown and is classy and sharp dressed. Both are dusty and flirty Do you want skinny sigs: Skinny sigs pretty please.
Welcome to faction planning 101! You're welcome to promote your faction idea only after it's been submitted to the moderators. We have a nifty guide to help you through the process called So, you want to gather minions?
Until we hear from you officially, I'll be locking this thread. Cheers!
Sorry for not choosing just two, but I thought I'd give you a few and hope two jumped out at you, or inspired you or something. I'm happy with any of the below listed photos.
MRO!Cafas (Still rocking the pink[ermint] hair, now with grey eyes!)
Is there anything different between the versions of your character that you want to call out?
I think the loving protector vs the narcissistic playboy is a good angle, maybe with something power related thrown in. I think I want a sort of lighting blue for AV!Caf but I'm flexible, whereas I have no idea what works best for old Pinky, but assume neutral tones? I'm also feeling a fade rather than harsh transition. However (and this is important so pay attention) I am not very artistically inclined, and I trust your judgement over mine. Do what feels right, I just wanted to give you a place to start.
Under-over / Side-by-side:
I'm leaning towards side by side, but if you get an idea for under over, I'm equally happy with that. I'm sorry for not being useful, if you do pick it up feel free to prod me into an answer with whatever means you have available to you.
I would deeply appreciate a sit for Gina and/or Chase. I understand that there's a fair deal of photomanip that goes into Gina/Khalil (grey/red skin tone, Khalil has amber eyes, horns...) so thank you thank you to the ambitious soul who tries.
GINA Playby Name: Katie Melua (Gina) and Willy Cartier (Khalil)
2 different URLs for images you like: I have a few each that I like but if you find something else that moves you go for it.
Gina #1, Gina #2, and (perhaps my favorite) Gina #3. If you could try and make her skin look grey I'd really appreciate that.
As for Khalil, Megandy very helpfully fixed one photo already (because she's the best) so if you'd like to use that, the link is here. Please be advised, it's photobucket and loads slowly. This is what I would ask for his color scheme. Other images I like, if you'd like to just do it yourself, include One, Two , or Three.
...i know that's way more than necessary but I just wanted to be super thorough.
Is there anything different between the versions of your character that you want to call out?: Gina is sweet and loving and bright while Khalil is a fire-manipulating, narcissistic devil. If possible, please reflect this in the color schemes?
Type of Sig? Skinny, please. Then we can avoid having to add horns or that sort of thing. (Strategic cropping and all that...)
Playby Name: Indiana Evans Is there anything different between the versions of your character that you want to call out?: Alice is a lot more angry and emotional in general, if you want an easy way to distinguish the backgrounds, they could just be darker for her.
Playby Name: Mila Kunis Is there anything different between the versions of your character that you want to call out?: AV Sarah is a mutant librarian with long hair, with Haven; MRO Sarah is a human artist with a bob cut (though at this point the hair is a little thing), unaffiliated I would like the horizontal split if possible please
I've been meaning to ask for a sig for a bit, and with the AV plot happening it seemed a good time to get one. Their two face claims for Artair and Cait are Seth Green and Felica Day respectively and the colour scheme can be anything really, not too picky. Maybe have Cait seem brighter? As for a quote, I think just their full names would do, especially since rooms limited with two people.
Of course this is only if you have the free time, I'm not rushed for anything. Just have no artistic skill.
Any players are free to post requests or fill requests. If you want to FILL a request by making a signature, please "like" the posted request so that we don't double dip.
If you would like a split signature for the Ripples in Time plot post here with the following information:
Playby Name: 2 different URLs for images you like: (if you have them) Is there anything different between the versions of your character that you want to call out?: (speech color difference? mood difference? Power difference?) Do you want skinny sigs:

How would any police department possibly deal with this? I'm assuming they'll scratch their heads and say that what happens on the other side of the rift is "not my problem." I cannot say if one reality will extradite criminals if asked to. I imagine they will be dealing with things as best they can in the reality they live in. (And then complain that the doughnuts look better on the other side.)
Can I keep one of my AV characters along with my original character if I have earned a slot for them? Right now the mods are thinking no. There can only be one.
What's an easy way to differentiate between my MRO character and my AV character? Some people are choosing a different color tag for their AV. That might be a good place to start, if you are so inclined. This is a decent resource for finding html named colors

Q&A so far:
Since there's SUPER, are Metabots still a thing? METAbots are still a thing because they still exist in the MROverse. Even if we decide they never came to be in the AV, they'll be around because they are around in MRO.
How are visible mutants treated by the public? I expect the are treated about the same. In general I expect mutants will be a bit less accepted because the AV mutants never went mainstream, if that makes sense.
Would the 'cure' be something worked towards in this universe? I believe there will be those who will have worked toward a cure, but it has not been achieved in the MORverse or Alternateverse
Would the agents tracking the mutants in the AU have any special tech to find mutants METAbots are equipped with a scanner that is able to detect mutants so it has been established that the tech exists. I believe SUPER may have access to this tech, but it is not something you can buy just anywhere. If you use it in a context that makes sense, it should be fine.
If I were to have an AV!Jack and an MRO!Jack, how would I handle the acquired power growth, once she hits 300 posts? Would I need to have two events to catalyze it for each Jack? If you want to work for your powergrowth twice, you certainly can, but the idea is to have differing versions of your character between the 'verses. If they're different enough, both earning the same powergrowth may not make sense. So it really boils down to what you want to do. You can earn it twice or once, at your discretion.
Will send a idea by email as suggested. Feel free to post ideas and any more questions you might have here. I expect we'll be fielding a lot of questions by modmail, but really, I expect to mostly see alternate character applications by modmail.
Faction Name: Strategic Unit for Preternatural Experimentation and Research or SUPER
Faction Color/Logo: “bronze” #C2996B
Faction Philosophy/Goals: Predict and avert conflict by means of tagging and tracking mutants. Experiment on mutants in order to provide a cure and determine mutant limits. Recruit mutants into service of the USA to further world military superiority. Response priority is to help humans first, Adapteds second, and mutants last. Strive for anonymity, secrecy, and plausible deniability.
Starter Missions/Ideas: Bag and Tag - Every field member of SUPER is equipped with a chip gun. If they find a mutant that fits a SUPER profile, they are authorized to take the necessary steps to tag said mutant. <OOC Mission Notes> This mission is open to any mutant that would like an encounter with an Agent trying to tag them. Whether the tag is successful or not will be negotiated OOCly beforehand. Either way, data will be taken from the encounter. Agent actions must be discreet. Agents must act in order to keep property damage to a minimum.
Analysis - Analysts back at HQ may notice a number of tags congregating in one place or an algorithm my suggest that a mutant event is imminent. Agents or Soldiers may be sent as needed. <OOC Mission Notes> This mission is for anyone who wants an excuse to have a group brawl. Can be on American soil or overseas and may include holiday bad guys.
Erratic Tags - Noticing erratic behavior of a tagged mutant, an analyst may send an Agent or Soldier to engage the mutant to find out why. <OOC Mission Notes> This mission is for any mutant with an active tag that has grossly deviated from their normal behavior (drastic changes in location, a lot of power triggers within a timespan, etc.).
Experimentation - Whether captured or in the “wild” mutants can provide useful data to SUPER. Any SUPER are authorized to push mutants to their limits for the sake of SCIENCE! Give SUPER an excuse for a new datapoint and they will give you hell. <OOC Mission Notes> Need some trauma in your life? Have you found your characters limits? Are you looking for an excuse to try out a new power growth?
Interactions with active factions: Humans are to be protected or ignored. X-men are to be ignored. Disengage if engaged. The Syndicate is to be stopped. Any members are to be subdued and tagged or captured and experimented on. Mutants with obvious physical tells are to be tagged. If they are perceived to be isolated or 'unwanted' they are free to be experimented on. Mutants with powers that are considered strong enough to threaten a building are to be tagged. Psychics are to be tagged and recruited. Adapteds are to be recruited or coerced into recruitment for their own safety.
Differences from active factions: SUPER would be a foil to the Syndicate. Where the Syndicate believes the world must end and be built again from the ashes, SUPER believes the current system is fine and will actively work to protect the status quo. Law is their supreme ideal.
SUPER is like the X-men in that they value life and believe themselves above the law, however, as an actual branch of the United States government, SUPER enjoys some legitimate power when it comes to interactions between SUPER and the police.
Haven is unknown to SUPER. They are fundamentally opposed in that Haven is focused on helping mutants, SUPER is focused on helping those poor disadvantaged humans.
The work of a Nation. The center of intelligence.
Would you like to help “handle” the mutant situation? Do you like being “in the know”? Did a mutant punch you mom and now you’d like revenge? Are you a mercenary? Do you like to be in action threads? SUPER may just be for you.
From the time when mutants became known to the world’s leaders, the Strategic Unit for Preternatural Experimentation and Research (AKA SUPER) was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat. Given the recent tear in space-time, the division has been authorized to move into a more active role in order to get faster results. While their main goal will always be related to reconnaissance, SUPER has been authorized to take on some small level of enforcement-type professionals.
Swear in! If you have an IC reason to join SUPER, consider yourself approached by an NPC member of the current SUPER team, contact a mod, and you are good to.
Titles for Your Faction SUPER Agent - help identify and combat threats, covert actions, mutant tagging, spying SUPER Soldier - overt actions, muscle, enforcement
SUPER Classifications: Alpha - Psychics (α) Kappa - Adapteds (κ) Gamma - Elementals (γ) Delta - Active Mutation Exterior (δ) Epsilon - Active Mutation Internal (ε) Iota - Passive, Always-on, or Visible Mutation (ι) Omega - Human (ω)
Mandated Code of SUPER Conduct: Humans are to be protected or ignored. X-men are to be ignored. Disengage if engaged. The Syndicate is to be stopped. Any members are to be subdued and tagged or captured and experimented on. Iota Mutants with obvious physical tells are to be tagged. If they will not be missed they are free to be experimented on. Mutants with powers that are considered strong enough to threaten a building are to be tagged no matter their classification. Alpha Mutants (psychics) are to be tagged and recruited. Kappa Mutants (adapteds) are to be recruited or coerced into recruitment for their own safety.
SUPER OpSec
Sandwiched between a debt settlement office and J. Ramirez’s Dental School sits a beige, three story building, unmarked. Men and women staff the building 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They walk through the front doors in pressed suits after tapping a blank card to a RFID scanner.
This is Operations Security, the support staff for SUPER field members referred to as OpSec. The SUPER director and SUPER head of operations can both be found at this location from time to time. SUPER members can visit for meetings or paperwork, but are generally discouraged from drawing attention to this location.
