The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

”A little.” he said truthfully. It was the heat that was the issue, though the light was still distracting for him. Any heat signatures he had to make sure to note before writing it off as a non-threat. It had been years since he lost his eye but he was still adapting to his thermal vision. It helped him stay on his toes and if they were about to fight a demon of some kind, it would no doubt come in handy.
”Not exactly my style, I need information to go on before just waltzing in. How many, any hostages, or anything else that might cause a problem for me or who I’m with.” he nodded his head in the dim light extending the cold around them as far as it could go revealing a small nest of birds in some bushes nearby.
”Exactly, Herc might be able to go in head first but if there is a better way. We aren’t all immortal.” having heard the ‘god’ spout the claim numerous times. Yes he was strong, yes he could keep taking hits but everything froze eventually.
”It’s a lead. Sometimes that’s all we got.” Sam added reassuringly before the rest of the information dump. The icemancer listened as Rex explained his source and more information about the situation.
”I get it.” his hands were up in a ‘let’s keep calm’ gesture. ”They won’t get away with it, we will stop them and anything I tell the police will not reveal the source of the tip. No worries. Not my first time dealing with a unanimous tip.” Sam said understanding the issue of trust.
”Lead the way... just... let’s get a head count before getting into anything." Two clones of ice started to form behind Sam. ”I don’t like surprises in situations like this.” being outnumbered by mystics was one of them.

Sweat dripped down his forehead, just finishing warming up or cooling down himself. Sam didn’t sleep the night before, not because he was excited but because there was another fire in the city and he was too amped up to be able to sleep. He could sleep later, it was Saturday after all.
”You made it. Good.” he nodded his head not bothering to look at the clock that ticked above him. His close were slightly charred and some soot still covered exposed limbs and his face, ”Was wondering if I had to come find you.” Sam said joking. Lenna wouldn’t have skipped. At least that was the feeling he got from her. She was a kid still but one Sam had come to rely on in the past. Like when it came to rescuing Aura.
”You ready?” he asked smirking his lone eye tracing over her, ”No weapons? Good.” she had listened to his request but wouldn’t be surprised if she had snuck one or two in.
”Glad you took me up on my offer to join the team pending the results of this session.” lied Sam. She'd have to mess up royally to make him question her trainee status. She was already more skilled than most of her trainee teammates so much so Sam was willing to take her on a covert mission. One he still hasn’t brought up to anyone other than Shin.

His sponsor set this up. The man was a mystic. Still Sam trusted the man, it might come back to bite him later but he had fought side by side with Rex and came out from the fight untouched... by the fire at least and seeing as Rex controlled the flames it meant he was an ally for now.
”Mind turning down the light?” Sam asked finding Rex in the darkness easy enough. Even without his one eye the heat the flame gave off made it feel like he was staring at the sun. The heat the thing gave off made him turn down his thermal vision. Relying more on his training to fight and track with little light and without the use of most of his powers.
”You usually sneak up on people with that giant ball of fire?” he asked rethorically.
A chill hung in the air around them, far enough away so he could feel their surroundings without feeling the orb of fire next to him. ”You were vague on the phone. Is that a magic thing? Being vague?” he asked knowing his other interactions with mystics were either fighting them, being challenged by them (from a Greek Demi-God) and Afoie who was well... just difficult.
”You don’t mean an actual demon right?” the former assassin asked. A small blade felt heavy at his back itching to be used. Typically Sam would stick to his powers and his skills but too many mystics were getting good at disrupting his powers enough for him to consider brining a ‘side-arm’ and unlike his pal from Texas, Sam wasn’t a fan of using the one with gunpowder.

Ignoring Afoie’s farewell he kept his eye forward. There was nothing else he could get from her now, she’s too comfortable. Some time alone would indeed give her time to reflect on her actions. Maybe in a week he’d swing by again. Get a little more information out of her. Sabine might be a problem though. Why he handed her off to SUPER he still didn’t know but figured it keep him out of the team’s doghouse.
”Well hopefully she gets bored then.” he said trying to be sympathetic towards her. Bored means she’ll be more willing to talk next time. Make a mistake. She already revealed some of the hierarchy with the mystics and where she thought the birth of magic was. At least that was the same conclusion Becca came up with as well.
”You don’t think it’s a wild goose chase? Be smart to get a few of our team out of the states for a while. Besides Atlantis isn’t the most welcoming from all the chatter about the place. It did produce the Princess after all.” but the island also gave them Praxi, a trainee and one of Sam’s favorites. ”Can’t we just ask the princess to call them?” with the abductions of mutants going around Sam didn’t want to leave the city.
”My team?” Sam scoffed as more doors opened and they walked through towards the exit. ”Don’t be dumb. I’ve said it before and I’m willing to die on this hill. You don’t have to be a mutant to be on the team. Not a lot of people I'd be willing to die next too. You earned that spot on the team. No one wants you to leave it. Sides, not like Maya wouldn’t tell you everything anyways.” he chuckled and held the door open for her leaving the SUPER facility.

It was an easy fly in, hard to miss the island now. How many times did he fly over it not realizing it was buried under miles of water? That was the past though and the now was well... ****ed at least with the mystics running all over the New York... and parts of Canada. He still had to share some of that information with the rest of the team. Shin was the only one that was aware of it, but it was a long flight home and they could use a story on the way.
A lot of the team was present now, trainee’s included. There was little reason for Sam to be there other than the fact that he had never been to this island nation. Books on history didn’t exactly peak his interest however if it gave a weapon to use against the mystics he’d suck it up and read for days. The other reason he was there was to make sure the rest of his team got out of Atlantis in one peace. Without Becca’s powers where they used to be Sam felt a desire to make sure everyone would be safe.
>>>"I hope you understand your time on this island is solely being granted because of your service to Atlantis in the past, Rebecca. Let me be clear; Mystics will not be welcome in our borders after you leave."
The air around Sam dropped a few degrees. He had heard about the Queen somewhat, gossip from the transfer students and anything else in the new. She was better than her predecessors but still blunt. He could be blunt too. Becca was family, and Sam didn’t like someone warning his family like that.
Sam hated royalty, he kept his thoughts to himself though. This was a mission after all and they had to keep up diplomatic relations with the queen. Last thing they needed to do was start another international incident. Those made him want to drink.
It wasn’t like the queen asked for his opinion anyways.

It seemed that Liz’s train of thought wasn’t the same as Sam’s. He raised an eyebrow as the lights faded around him. Doc was done healing. At least done healing what he would. A rib still remained fractured but that was Doc’s way of reminding Sam to take it easy and not push himself. Doc hated to be the one stop source to fixing Sam’s antics.
“Ah, good! Nothing to worry about then.” Doc said with a sigh or relief as he threw some sass Sam’s way. “He’s incapable of going a full day without being shot at.”
Sam smirked and chuckled in response. ”I’m pretty sure I can make it a day... not twenty four hours though.” he offered before Doc rolled his eyes and stepped away from the icemancer. ”Think on it. You handled yourself well enough for little to no training for the field. Under my guidance you could be the best.” Sam said laughing to himself a bit more.
Pushing himself up from the table he was sitting on he looked back to Doc and offered a nod followed by a ‘thank you’. Even if he wasn’t fully healed.
”Get some sleep Liz. Also recommend talking with Gemma when you are feeling up to it. Getting shot isn’t something easy to deal with. Standard practice for all the members on the team.” he headed to the door, ”Think on it.” and with that Sam headed to the one place he wanted to be at the moment. Bed.

Doc’s hands shifted to the point where the shrapnel went through and the light emitting from his hands got brighter possibly revealing the extent of damage that was done. Sam did his best to ignore it. What he couldn’t ignore was Weltgiest.
”He could control me within seconds of having a conversation of him, I’m not the best against psychic suggestion but I’m certainly not the worst. He was calculating. Had an escape route in his office, he isn’t gone. He wouldn’t have blown up his own ship with him on board.” he felt he had a higher purpose. Ragnorok the end of the world. ”He’s the type of guy to have a dozen body doubles and an escape submarine.”
”I meant you think he knows about the “end of days”. I wasn’t asking him to take care of the entire problem. But I’m sure he’d try if you ask nicely. Big guy seems he can deal with a lot.” Sam chuckled. ”and does that mean you are volunteering for the position? Need someone to run the group.”
Sam winced as Doc pressed a little harder into Sam’s leg where the metal went through. Pain meant it was healing. The message was clear though, stop offering to enlist Liz in his shenanigans.
”I can ask Sabine and Mike see if they know the name or the group with the purpose of ending the world.” Sam offered knowing he trusted one far more than the other. Anyone who ran S.U.P.E.R. couldn’t be fully trusted. She was from his world. The one he left behind when he joined the mansion.

The icemancer frowned slightly trying to recall the group mentioned. It had been only a few years but that was when everything started to spiral for him. Sam sat in silence for a moment. Chewing over the name and anything else the name brought up.
”Yeah, Welt didn’t even stand in for the end of the show. We don’t even know what he actually looks like. The guy who died on the sub seemed to think he was him. Had me convinced.” Sam paused for a moment and looked over to Doc who stopped healing long enough to shoot him a look. ”I didn’t kill anyone. The explosives did.” he said before avoiding eye contact with anyone again.
”Well he didn’t get it. No gods or supernatural figures showed up. Just us.” he smirked at the names they had used. ”And we are still here. Meaning it isn’t the end of the world yet.” Doc nodded his head after finishing his healing on Liz.
“I take it you’ll tell the rest of the team?” Doc asked curiously walking over to Sam and eyeing the man. “Self inflicted again?” he shook his head and reached for Sam’s leg which was still ice over. With glowing hands he added, “This is the stuff they want to know so we aren’t all surprised when you go missing again.” ”I didn’t go missing, I went north, and I came back.” Sam still avoided eye contact, ”Place was falling apart without me.”
“Sure it was.” Doc said rolling his eyes.
”This something we need to ask your boyfriend about? He thinks he’s a god right? This is in his wheel house, right?” Sam asked wondering if he could just hand off the group that wanted the end of the world.

Sam didn’t add anything to his defense. Liz said enough and Doc knew of Sam’s luck in situations like this. Though he did add a smirk when she said it wasn’t his fault. It wasn’t like he was looking for trouble. Trouble just happened to find him and then drag whoever else with him down.
”Extremists, nut jobs. Whatever you want to call them.” he sighed loudly and then mocked a yawn trying to coax Doc into asking less questions and heal more. It wasn’t that Sam didn’t want to talk to the man it was more he didn’t know what they were dealing with yet and discussing in hypotheticals wasn’t something he liked to dwell on, not until they had more information to go on. No, him and Liz needed to talk about what they had witnessed and start coming up with a file on the group.
”Is that what we are going to call them?” he asked wondering if it was a decided name. It definitely explained what they were after. Maybe he could ask around and see if anyone else had dealings with them. If anything Mike, aka Ranger might have heard of them. They weren’t shy about having armed goons.
”it does lay out their goals.” Sam said nodding in agreement. ”You’re welcome by the way.” he said to Doc who was still eyeing the wound that was steadily vanishing.
“.... Don’t fall into a habit of this Elizabeth.” Doc said before turning to Sam. There was hesitation on the doctors face as he eyed the icemancer. Debating if he should even heal Sam. “You’re just going to go out and break something else anyways aren’t you.” the doctor sighed and walked over to Sam eyeing the spot where he stabbed himself earlier that night first. It was clear Doc knew where to start. This was a favorite injury of Sam’s after all. A self inflicted one. “I do wish you find another method to break illusions and control.” Doc sighed loudly and his hands started to glow.
”Do you recall anything you saw Liz? Anything about Ragnarök? Or am I going to have to look up the end of days?” he asked wishing there was already a drink in his hand.

The jet set down and Sam let out a long sigh of relief. He was exhausted. He was in pain. He was however alive. They both were. Looking to Zorro (who he was pretty sure was Liz at this point) he cleared his throat and spoke, ”Let’s get your body patched up.” then to Bruno, ”Were, home big guy. Go see V.” the massive dog barked twice hopped once and then rushed out of the jet running back towards the exit of the hanger.
Looking at the exit Sam sighed, ”Great.... another headache.” Doc Prof was standing at the entrance arms folded and a scowl on his face. ”Guess now’s a good as time as any. Ready for some third degree? We will debrief after.” he looked to Zorro then to the birds who could have been holding Liz’s mind.
Obviously Sam waited for Liz to be healed before mentioning what was wrong with him physically. Doc could heal pretty much everything except for the emotional pain. That was going to be addressed with a bottle later.
“I can’t believe you! You brought Elizabeth on one of your excursions!?! What were you thinking!?!” Doc shouted and shook his head as he overlooked the woman’s body for any other obvious wounds. His hands glowed slightly as he touched the hole where the bullet entered.
”I was thinking it was a rescue operation. She’s good at finding people. Just so happened there were nazi’s” Doc eyed Sam and shook his head. “Of course it happens to you.”

Despite the pain he chuckled. Sometimes that was all you could do in situations like this. They were alive despite having everything happened. Sam was injured. The scientists probably a lifetime of trauma if they recalled anything (he still didn’t know the extent of Weltgiest’s power) and then Liz... someone who had no business being on the front lines was dragged there by the icemancer. He’d apologize later but all he could do now was laugh.
His clones sat motionless in the back of the jet near the ramp. They no longer had a reason to be there but Sam was a bit more cautious now that he had a large hole in his leg that required healing. His hands supported him as he limped through the cockpit holding on to chairs as he passed.
”Hope you learned a lot about them. Might be able to discuss them with...” he looked to Liz’s body that was still turned towards the ceiling of the jet wondering if she was avoiding her own body to keep away from the pain of being shot. Something he was going to apologize a lot for later. ”The ravens. Right Liz?” he asked hoping the birds didn’t suddenly want to peck his eye out or eat his tongue. They still needed him to fly back to the mansion.
”All strapped in everyone?” he winced as he sat down. Bruno was at his side licking the leg that was frozen over due to the smell of blood that was now frozen. ”Sorry.” he said quietly to the dog and Liz who was probably listening as one of the scientists discussed the organ that converted salt water to fresh water in penguins.

There was a some calls from the apex predator that answered his question before he received the other message. Sam exhaled his worries turning his head to see the wave from the magnificent creature. It seemed Liz was well, or suddenly he made friends with an Orca after the submarine blew up... he doubled checked to make sure he wasn’t dead moving the injured limb. Pain. He was alive. So was Liz. Thank god. He wasn’t ready to deal with losing a friend. Not again.
”A **** show. Blew up in my face.” he grunted and moved his head and upper torso up to look at the flames around him. ”A big one.” the fires would eventually die down. There wasn’t anything that could catch. Other than him and the orcas that Liz was hanging out in wouldn’t stick around if there wasn’t anywhere to breech.
”She’s here with me.” he said feeling like he was talking to himself more than anything but knew everyone was listening in on the other end. ”She’ll be back soon. I’m sure.” he gave a small thumbs up to Liz in the orca and formed two ice clones to help him upright on his small platform of ice that was forming. His leg dragged a bit behind him. ”How about a little push to the jet?” he asked curiously to Liz.
It took some time.
With an ice lift his clones helped him into the cockpit of the jet. ”Birds, Dogs.” he grunted in acknowledgement before looking back down to the Orca and shouting. ”Ready to go home? We got a debrief.” she wasn’t aware that a debrief was drinking a bottle of expensive whiskey. ”and we have to drop the scientists off at the closest military base so they can explain what happened.” he looked to the others, ”What were you studying out here anyways?”

”Gnnnnnhhh’ Blood poured out of his leg and Sam felt he lost consciousness for a moment. He was floating, but alive. He had to focus. The wound was stopped with ice as it purred into the mixture and made a blood red spot under his armor trying to keep everything contained. His vison blurred for a moment and he heard a familiar scream of ‘Daddy’ before smacking the spot on his leg where he was just impaled. Pain. His eye snapped open and he howled.
This wasn’t the place he was going to die. Eve needed him and that was all the motivation he needed to start moving again. He was floating on a chunk of metal but it was steadily lowering. It must have collected some air. Ice covered his body more pulling it from the surrounding water till the metal under him sank and was replaced with a floating shelf of ice.
Bobbing on the surface ”System point check.” he growled to himself coughing from the flames. It was best to get out from the scene of the wreckage but there was no way he’d be swimming with his leg the way it was. Starting with his toes he worked his way up to his ankle. It hurt but he could still control everything. It was a clean impaling it seems. Even if it did more damage than he thought Doc could patch him up later.
Tapping his ear with a grunt he coughed, ”Everyone alright?” he asked his voice appearing in the jet with everyone else. ”How's the patient?” wondering what would happen to Liz if her host died.

”Blame it on my upbringing.” he shrugged, it wasn’t much of one. Becca knew that much about him. This was pretty black and white. If mutants were the first ones to strike the mystics or mystics to mutants. It didn’t matter. If they attacked someone close to the icemancer they made an enemy of him. The cult of mystics and her sister would pay for what they did to Becca.
At the moment the safest place for Afoie was either hiding behind Becca or in this room guarded by S.U.P.E.R. an organization Sam didn’t fully trust. It was hard to trust organizations like that. Having been groomed by one, but he could trust they’d keep her locked up and hopefully pass along any information she’d eventually divulge after being captive for so long. A man can dream.
When Becca moved closer to the mirror Sam’s eye darted to the camera and then the door making sure that there wasn’t a handful of agents bursting through the door. Sabine made it clear. Thankfully she didn’t move any closer. Just talked. It was... hard to watch for the icemancer so he gave the two siblings a moment while he mulled over everything with another sip from his flask trying not to think about his next A.A. meeting.
>>>"Goodbye, Becca."
”Come on.” Sam waved Becca towards the door and stood. ”Afoie, I’m sure we’ll see each other soon. After you had some time to reflect.” nailed it. Looking to the camera and speaking out loud he added, ”Sabine, you can turn the lights off behind us!” before walking to the door and waiting for it to open.
Once out in the hallway Sam waited till one of the agents who greeted them was out of ear shot so he could ask his teammate? Former teammate? ”...How you holding up?”

The concussive force from the blast sent him further upwards as shrapnel flew past him. Something hit him in the head and the leg, the impact on the head caused him to black out for a moment only before he felt a searing pain in his leg.
Sam could only fly so high before gravity started to take hold of him. Once it did he fell hard and fast. The water was the next thing he saw as his vision came back to him. His thermal imaging was off, he had to sever the connection with it before the explosion.
The impact on the water was hard but he was still protected by his armor. The sound of fire and large pockets of air rushed passed him as he sank into the cold water before the ice armor could lift him up again. That was when he felt it again, his leg. Sam winced and shouted as he erupted back to the surface. ”Mother *****er!!!!” he floated on his back as ice started to raise him up on a small floating platform.
”Liz!” his voice was hoarse, he was tired. And the water around him was engulfed in flames still. The main reason his voice was the way it was. His ears were still ringing. Looking down he spotted a large chunk of metal in his leg. It was.... painful to say the least.
”Nooooooo...... killing......” he grunted as he reached down and pulled the foot long jagged piece of steel from his leg. The ice around it softened and resolidified as the metal was freed from his leg. ”Last.... time... I’m listening.... to you!” the metal clattered next to him as he let out a howl of pain.
On the jet, having front row seats to the explosion (from a far safer distance) the scientists all watched in horror as the dogs on the jet started howling and barking.
