The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Of course there was a library here. There was a school a danger room; a pool, supposedly a jet and a dozen other things that would make this place seem more like a small country than a school for gifted youngsters. So the library made sense none of the other stuff did really.
While he might have been here for more than 11 years he didn’t recall any of it and if he had a permanent room at the school in the co-ed hallway he might as well enjoy the amenities. Such amenities included said library. Sam walked in slowly taking in the sight he was trying to memorize the lay out, something he had been doing often since he woke up younger. It was weird, older Sam was probably begging to be attacked for staying here so long but for some reason the place was still standing. Maybe the security was better than he had seen.
Once he glanced the first setting in the entrance of the library he decided to go see what the room had. Hundreds of books, dozens of bookcases Sam took in the smell of dust and old books. He liked the smell; one of the few things he had access to when he was younger was books. Just the classics though he only cam across others on missions most of which were confiscated after debrief.
Sam didn’t know where to start. Libraries might not seem impressive normally to Sam but he was pretty cool with it being in walking distance from his room.

Sam, now apparently 12 years younger meant that he was 12 years weaker. He had a thermal sense, ice clones and a useful ability to get stabbed in the leg by said ice clones. Future Sam was messed up. A lot of the stuff he said didn’t make him want to remember any of it. To think, if Amanda got that powerful to control him like that and she was possibly alive still? She had 12 years of powering up on him. All he could do is get stabbed.
Thinking about his yesterday he kind of wished he knew what happened with his last run in with Agent Jackson. Older Sam never mentioned what happened to him. That, above all else made him uncomfortable, which meant he was doing the one thing he knew to give him some kind of order in his now far more jumbled life.
Sam had figured out the pass code to get into the danger room, it would have been one in twenty guess but he guessed right. The flash drive’s history of future Sam helped a bit too. The Danger Room it seemed remembered Sam as well, he however didn’t. It felt odd talking to a room, odd but kind of cool. When he managed to figure out what to do he went through two somewhat easy simulations. Capture the flag with people he didn’t know but programed to have mutant abilities, and a race to save someone from a burning building. Why he trained for stuff like this young Sam couldn’t understand but it was kind of fun once he completed them.
After finishing the last session Sam started to prep up the next session. Two people again he didn’t recognize formed in front of him. One was silver and the other was on fire both of which had a sword to match their element. Sam jumped back and then jumped again when he heard the door whoosh open. ”No beautiful I’m real.” Now Sam never saw the woman enter and drop a bag he just head a voice and could tell it was female and seeing as everyone apparently knew him he figured this was how he would respond.

The heat signatures dimmed the second time he shook his head. The knife shot up to cover if he was going to be attacked but when he lowered his guard he only saw Gawain still trying not to fight him. The forms of red no longer there, maybe they never were. Sam shook his head again making sure not to keep his eyes of Gawain.
What kind of fool would give him a job teaching? Sam tried not to laugh but a little chuckle escaped at the thought. Gawain continued to get in Sam’s head with the rest of the information, some seemed more likely than the him being a teacher though. ”You would look better with the black eyes, what did I teach you? Take a punch then? Why would someone give me a job teaching anything? Shit I know shouldn’t be taught.” he laughed again.
Sam lowered his guard and took another step backwards the knife still in his hand. Tilting his head, ”I don’t know if I believe you, but if you have the flash drive I might want to look at it. That does sound like something I would do. ” he didn’t trust that a mutant in a mansion in upstate New York was willing to help out of the goodness of their heart. But, if he had answers Sam needed them. If he didn’t like them he could still just bail. Not like Gawain could stop him.
”If you’re just trying to lure me into a trap hope I only give you black eyes.” his knife dissipated in his hand. ”I can make things way more deadly if I need to. I don’t plan on dying here.” Sam said folding his arms squinting at making sure not to have his back against anything reflective. ”and tell me more about these heat signatures. What else can I do?"

At least there was something that was old. This was all new to the icemancer but apparently this was a common occurrence at the mansion. Good to know if he every wanted a fresh start when he was old and grey (if he lived that long) most agents don’t make it more than a few years, he was lucky he was recruited at such a young age. If it weren’t for the fact that he was running for an escape he would have rolled his eyes.
Gawain appeared from the window. Was it glass? Was that how he jumped from point A to B? Sam quickly surveyed the hallway making notes on all the reflective surfaces. There were mirrors; the windows and even a few light fixtures had some sort of reflection. Sam mentally cursed and stopped again this time bringing his hands up in a stance. ”dude….” no one knew about his family or where he grew up. Except for his handler and those above him. This kid was not above Jackson. Few were. Even if he knew his mothers name and his brother and the small cottage in the mountains, Sam still had a safe skepticism. One of the reasons he made it this far.
”That does sound like something I would do.” he said still not lowing his hands. ”I’m not making you do anything.” he widened his stance and formed a small blade in his hand, a sharp one. ”You’re chasing me. I just want to find out why I woke up naked in a random place! I was in Canada yesterday and now you are telling me I’m in upstate New York? Unless I had a jet or a teleporter, did you see where I parked the Jet?”
Sam frowned, ”didn’t think so. So unless you can’t die and somehow stop me I’d like to leave.” Sam said his fist tightening on the blade already looking at a few crippling points on the reflection walkers body. ”and you had to mention the kids.” Sam didn’t like hurting anyone, at least unless they deserved it. Kids rarely did.
His nostrils flared as the room dropped a few degrees flashes of red in the shape of different adults and kids appeared in his line of sight all around him. The icemancer winced slightly one eye shutting for some reason. He took a step back sure the visions were going to attack, ”Are you using a telepath on me!?!”

”Stabbed myself.” Sam said with a shrug he tapped the part of the leg where the stab took place. It wasn’t the first time he used the method to shake himself free from the dreams, it was the only way he could keep his mind to himself. ”I found it’s a productive way to kick any mental holds. Keeps me,” Sam gestured with his finger making a summing everything up circle ”here.”
Sam lowered his hand with a slight wince he tried to hide. ”Not the best way to handle it, my girlfriend broke up with me on the spot. Straw to break the camel’s back. Not calling her a camel, figure of speech.” Sam said trying not to make it seem like he was sore bout the breakup. ”Drinking was an issue for her as well but,” he shrugged again, ”What are you gonna do?”/
”Scared, her though. Alexandria. She didn’t remember me at all. Guessing memory altering.” that too was something he had considered and ran into often. Memory altering was great for creating attack dogs. ”Heart, sank.” Sam said pausing knowing he was sharing more than he intended. It wasn’t normal for him to talk about his feelings. Some he didn’t want to acknowledge. ”I saw the real her, all the memories come rushing from the back of my mind. We had kids, a life. To many to remember. Even if she remembered me, we were only together for a year or two. Everything up here is made up.” Sam said his eye watering while his voice rose before he reigned it back in.
”Sorry.” Sam quickly apologized, ”Not used to the talking thing.”

The now younger icemancer’s nostrils flared as he listened to the rapid bit of information about his life. Sam had heard about the school, he was planning on going there to hide; maybe get some rest instead of constantly running. He figured a school full of mutants could at least hid him from Agent Jackson and the stalk bots, not long but at least give him some R and R.
2020… nope, it was 2007 the camps were in New York, one of the main reasons he wasn’t planning on going to the Xavier school. He was doing enough running, no reason to give some mutant haters another target or run into more stalker bots. Sam’s hands lowered to his chest, still in a non-threating way, ”Haven’t changed much then have I?” Sam said pretending to believe danger named Gawain.
Patented fake smile now on his face Sam added, ”Might explain the eye patch though.” he knew that wasn’t a woman’s room. It was too plain. Sam’s eyebrows raised as he looked surprised in Gawain’s direction. ”Behind you!” it was something that rarely worked but he didn’t waist anytime spinning on his heel he turned and ran away from Gawain.
It didn’t make sense, there was too much information to process; his headache, waking up naked, the supposed 13 year time difference, Gawain and him were friends. Sam didn’t really have friends, at least not ones that would explain any situation to him. They’d just as soon stab him in the back than explain anything. Speaking of which, maybe Amanda was involved somehow. She did have the power give him headache.

Sam only made it two bedroom doors till he had to slow so he could swear under his breath and raised his hands up as stranger danger appeared again. Several things rushed to his mind as he slowly stopped on the carpet.
One: Stranger Danger was able to escape and enter locked rooms. Two: Stranger Danger didn’t seem surprised with his ice powers. Three: Stranger Danger must be a mutant or be familiar with mutants. Meaning possible enemy. Four: Sam never recalled having carpet when he was at T.A.T.M.A.H. the new generation must be spoiled.
His hands still raised he took a few steps back towards the bedroom door he exited. There was a big window with the park and woods underneath he could make an escape there. Question now was how to escape someone who could appear and disappear without opening a door. Did he phase or teleport. Both could be counter with extreme cold. However icing this hallway with other possible threats didn’t sound too appealing.
”Can you now? Good… got a few questions.” Sam said as he looked at the stranger. ”Why did I wake up naked? Where am I? And I don’t want to hurt anyone.” he took another slow step back hoping danger wouldn’t notice.

Another flash of light behind him and then a voice. His name, his hand tightened on the knife. The voice came from the bathroom; he was just in there and didn’t see anyone. He didn’t like the situation. Sam dropped to his knee and turned shooting of beam of cold towards the bathroom door and the voice hoping to trap said voice.
Sam slowly backed up keeping focused where he just blasted some cold. He didn’t like being surprised, he didn’t like being in an unknown area and he did not like what was going on!! Sam grabbed the door and slowly poked his head out keeping his knife behind his back. He wasn’t sure what to expect. He defiantly did not expect to see some adults and teenagers roaming the halls. There wasn’t a ton but there was enough to take notice. Sam really didn’t like the situation.
Dropping his knife behind the door Sam walked out and quickly slammed the door shut. With a nice layer of ice on the door handle Sam quickly made a way down the hallway hoping to find an exit without drawing too much attention. His head hurt but he could fight his way out if needed. He was trained for it and if this had something to do with T.A.T. Sam had no problem fighting his way out after all if this was some sort of training facility for future agents they’d be coming after him eventually anyways.

”Saaaaammmm!!!! Daddy!!!!” the screams could be heard from the large house in front of him. Ice blanketed the snow on the ground and the pines nearby. The moon illuminated a large mountain in the background splitting the sky as the stars being blanketed by black smoke. Fire was caked on the roof and siding of the house melting all the snow nearby. His family was in there. Ayrn his daughter, Sammy his son and Alexandra his wife whom he adored. His heart skipped a beat and he ran towards the house kicking the door down only to be engulfed in flames.
Sam popped upright with a cold sweat on his brow. A knife of ice now protruding from his hand quickly was chewed away from a rather large dog. The Saint Bernard first started to lick the knife then decided that it would be better away from the one who created it. Sam blinked as the dog hopped from the bed with the knife he made and almost stabbed said dog with. If it was anything else it would have been stabbed.
Dog aside Sam grabbed his throbbing forehead with his left hand. The hand took a second as it was uprooted from under a cat. ”why am I surrounded by animals.” Sam looked around trying to get a bearing on where he was his head still being held with his hand. Did he get drunk? No, he wouldn’t have done that. Agent Jackson would have taken advantage of the situation and taken him in while he was inebriated. Booze made him slower; he might have been able to take anyone while he was drunk but stalkers didn’t abide to the laws of man.
The place looked like an apartment. Two nightstands walled the bed in, one nearest to him sat a year marker for A.A. Sam wasn’t sure why he knew what it was from but that was the first thing that came to mind. Next to it was an eye patch. Was he involved with another pirate role play? Sam lifted the blankets and decided that wasn’t the case. He blinked and slipped out of bed not sure where was out.
The dog looked at him finishing the blade of ice and walked to the door. He wined, again not sure why Sam knew the dog was a he. Walking to the door he opened it to watch the dog and then the cat run out. Sam blinked again, closed the door and locked it. Where was he.
Sam hated not knowing where he was. Looking around the room he ignored most of the furniture. There was a fridge, a giant window outside into what looked like a park and some woods, a closet and a bathroom. Sam started there.
Walking into the bathroom he found the usual utensils one would have, except a hot pink toothbrush. Sam didn’t know why but his gaze lingered there for a second before finding a pair of boxers and pants. The pants seemed a little big on him but they fit with the belt. He was unfamiliar with everything but was some how set at ease with each new thing that caught his eyes. Sam paused when he looked into the mirror. He was disappointed. Without finding any bottles of booze near by he was hoping he’d find a bruise on his face, some explanation as to why he wasn’t familiar with where he woke up.
Last he remembered he was in a cabin in Canada, it was out of the way from everything safe from T.A.T.M.A.H. at least he’d be aware of their presence from far away. Even with the stalker bots he could have felt something. Something flashed behind Sam, he didn’t see it per say but felt it. He jerked his head to the shower behind him and saw nothing. He looked around again lowering the knife formed in his hand a second ago. Sam grunted and walked closer to the shower and touched the walls. Nothing. He could have sworn there was a person behind him.
Sam slowly walked out of the bathroom into the bedroom with his knife still making sure no one would get the jump on him. He walked to the nearest dresser looking for a shirt finding a zeppelin shirt he highly approved on Sam walked towards the door where he let the animals out.

Sam nodded his head and gave a slight head tilt instead of a should shrug, the shrug simply hurt to do so he avoided it for now. ”Glad to hear, and yeah. “ Sam smirked, ”he keeps insisting that I keep asking for trouble.” Sam added, Doc wasn’t exactly wrong but Sam did for the most part try to avoid getting hit. It made life difficult being broken or injured.
”I stopped drinking, month dry. Want to but… preventing me from getting things done. Healing included. Figure it was time I’d stop feeling sorry for myself and what I seen.” Sam tapped his head slightly around the temple if it would help illuminate what he meant. He wasn’t crazy he knew that, just had a hard time differentiating what was real and what wasn’t sometimes. Hence the main reason he was talking to Gemma. Sam knew he needed some help, or at least advice.
”I saw her again, she was real this time. Alexandra.” Sam said knowing Gemma had a brief understanding of what he had gone through and why he justified being the way he was now. Intentinally or not.

Sam smirked and followed Shin to the elevator once they got into the building heading up the building Sam got a chill down his spine, was it the music? Yeah, definitely the music the icemancer visibly shuddered when the lyrics said Private Dancer. He hadn’t heard from PD in a while. Normally he sent mail from prison, he even tried to call Sam once or twice before he changed his number. ”I hate this song…” Sam muttered before trying to change the subject.
”So you tried to kill some kids? Mind control?” Sam asked knowing Shin was apart of his rescue from Amanda and T.A.T. something the icemancer will forever be grateful for. ”I know all about how to escape mind control now if you need some pointers.” Sam pointed to his leg with a stabbing motion, sure the shard-mancer had heard about his outbursts at least once.
The numbers in the elevator went up as the seconds passed until they stopped a few floors short of the roof. ”Crap…” Sam said as the doors opened and some people crowded on pushing Sam and Shin towards the back. They all hit the ground floor button and were upset when the elevator continued to go up. “Why is it going up!?!” shouted a man in a very nice suit.

”Yes and no, I’ve only had to go so cold once and that was to counter the heat another was giving off, we both ended up passing out after but a demonstration won’t hurt anything. Though, if I do this you should keep back a bit less you gets covered in frostbite or turn into a popsicle.” Sam cracked his neck and pulled his arm across his chest to stretch it out. It had been a while since he tried pushing his powers; the last time was when he was in his hideout in the artic circle. Which was a great place to test powers, his at least.
”Danger,” Sam shouted, there was a small humming sound in recognition as the room acknowledged it was getting directions. ”Sam safety protocol 22 over Javier.” a dim warm light appeared over Javier as Sam started to back away from him. The light would counter act the cold Sam gave off, of course he’d do his best to direct the cold elsewhere but with him testing his limits the whole room would be frozen in no time. He didn’t’ want to scare off the new tailor.
Once he was a considerable distance away Sam called out to the danger room and a clock screen and temperature reading appeared before Javier in the cone of the warm light. The timer read zero and the temperature read the room. ”You get too cold yell to stop and I will.” Sam called out. He wasn’t worried about Javier slowing due to the cold the cone of light overhead should keep him moving normally.
Taking a deep breath Sam slowly exhaled allowing his breath to come out in the form of frost. His body coated in patches of ice as the temperature quickly dropped below frozen. The focus of the temperature drop was around Sam but at this point Javier should have felt a quick chill before the light started to counteract his powers. The ground around Sam quickly frosted over then became a thick layer of ice. Every time Sam too a breath the temperature dropped rapidly again.
The light over Sam seemed to dim slightly the colder it got the ice started to give off a mist and he started to become obscured by his powers. He kept breathing, if he was fighting Javier at this point the guy would have gotten a nasty frostbite and would have started to slow. Sam was at the temperature now where he was able to slow down other things, time didn’t slow just everything else. The screen in front of Javier read -320 degrees Fahrenheit.

It was weird talking about his problems, it was weirder he was doing it willingly and it was even more odd he was sober. Yes, he had been dry for a few weeks now, despite being surrounded by it constantly. It helped he could see regulars stumble in with hangovers; those were one of the few things he didn’t miss about drinking.
Up righting himself in the chair he grabbed his right side and let out a little grunt of pain. Sam cracked his rib recently in a fight and felt it wasn’t bad enough to go see the Doc. Despite being dry Doc still gave him a hard time about needing healing all the time. The pain in Sam’s opinion was something that kept him aware of his surroundings the last thing he wanted to do was have to stab himself again if he saw Alexandria. Yes, he was still afraid to run into his real ex-girlfriend who had also played the role of his not-real wife over countless life times. That fear of his was something he still didn’t have the courage to discuss.
As usual Sam tried to direct the conversation towards Gemma. Anything was a good distraction so he didn’t have to talk about himself. ”So… congrats on the marriage. How’s our boy Jorge handling it?” Sam asked as he smiling to Gemma.

Sam smirked and nodded, ”Yeah, I guess monsters in the closets or under the bed don’t really matter when your dad can see and talk to dead people…” Sam briefly recalled all the times he had to run into his ‘not-real’ kids rooms in the middle of the night. Usually a controlled blast of frost solved most fears.
A small nod into his water that was now refilled with ice (his doing), ”Fathers are an important part of any kids life, but then so are mothers. You don’t have those around you wind up with more people like me.” Sam said with a small laugh, ”World can’t handle more of me.”
”You and Tarin getting along at least?” Sam said before adding, ”None of my business if you don’t want to say.” Sam said wondering if he should try and change the subject again.
