The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The alarm had woken James up early and as usual he rolled out of bed, pulled on his tracksuit, turned on his iPod and made his way outside. He needed to think about recent events, his roommate leaving so abruptly with no apparent reason had saddened him greatly. Having lost the only friend he had at the mansion James was back at square one. The weather was starting to get colder. Not that it was a problem, he had gotten used to running in every kind of weather over the years and he welcomed the change.
As James made his way to the Mansions entrance he considered his new plan, it had been working well lately and he was already starting to notice the effect.
"Right, now for the unpleasant bit." He mutterd to himself as he pulled his gloves off and grasped one of the fences bars firmly. Willing the metal to wash over him. The transformation came with the familiar feeling of being dipped in cold water. No matter how many times James did it, the feeling would always make him shiver violently for a moment. He held on until all of his skin up to his collar bones was a shiny, silver metallic colour and pulled his gloves back on. The first lesson he had discovered since learning about what he was - Cover the colour, it freaked people out.
James stretched his back, cracked his knuckles and set off. He started at a slow jog but quickly sped up. Recently he had almost been able to reach his max speed like this but the extra weight just wouldn't allow it. As he ran his feet made unnaturally loud thumping noises when they landed, but apart from that nobody would be able to tell any differently.
The run went smoothly for a while, but as all things do for James, it took a bad turn. Literally. As he rounded a corner, singing the words to Save The World by Swedish House Mafia at an embarrassingly high volume something crashed into him and rolled off to his right.
He stopped and pulled out the headphones. Looking around he saw another lad, about his own age lying on the floor. He looked pale with strange coloured eyes but James wasn't really thinking about that. Is all that was going through his mind was "Oh dear god why?" repeatedly.
The crash must have really been something, because it knocked James' feeling of social awkwardness right out of his head and replaced it with worry and a felling of incredible stupidity. James walked over the the other guy and dropped to his knees. He noticed the scars on his face, strange. He could swear this guy looked familiar...where had he seen him before?

James listened to Leons story attentively without butting in or even making a sound. He didn't know what he expected, maybe something like "Oh yeah, I lost control and made a fireplace explode". Not something like "Oh yeah, I lost control and put a bunch of guys in the hospital after beating them up with a building, no biggie".
As the story progressed James began to feel that his story about his own lapse of control was becoming less and less interesting compared to Mr.I-Beat-Up-A-Bunch-Of-Guys-With-A-Building Chase's. He also began to feel increasingly sorry for the older lad in front of him. Is all that had happened to James was that he had to walk around made of metal for half a week. It didn't hurt anyone, quite the opposite actually. It had made James feel powerful and interesting for once. But here was Leon, having lost control of a power which had the ability to really hurt people.
James had been feeling like a mutated, biological time-bomb. Ready to go off for the past five months and was starting to realize he had nothing to worry about. This came with a feeling of relief, which was quickly washed away by sympathy for Leon.
"Riiiiggghhhtttt" James nodded slowly. "I...I don't even" Shaking his head now disbelievingly. "I thought being made of metal sucked, Now that really sucks"
James could imagine why something like that would make you have to move away, to somewhere you could try and master your power. Something as dangerous as that needed to be contained and this was the perfect place for it.
"I suppose that explains why you had to come all the way over here, couldn't really hang about somewhere that you had beaten up a bunch of guys with charcoal" He considered giving Leon the typical "I'm Sorry to hear about that man, sounds like it was hard " But he got the impression that he wasn't the kind of guy who liked to be talked to like that so he left it out and patted him on the shoulder in what he hoped was a brotherly fashion.

Being told and shown around a new place that he would be living in was a new experience for James. He had never lived in a place like this before and was looking forward to it. He followed Leon and Gemma quietly, nodding to everything they were told.
James thought the place was cool, even though the whole notion of living in a shared space with a bunch of other people was completely alien to him. As for the dining area, he couldn't suppress the grin which spread across his face. Being sixteen he was at the age when he could eat ridiculous amounts of food without stopping, something which he had been taking advantage of quite a bit and free food was one of the most glorious things he could imagine. "No, I'm not allergic to anything or a vegetarian" James added after Leon.
The rooms looked fine, bigger than his one at home. Sharing one with Leon would probably cut out the whole home-sickness thing. When Leon said that it was similar to where he had come from James replied by saying "Lucky, this is the first time I have lived in a place like this"

The idea of sharing a room with Leon sounded good, but the whole smoking thing might be a tad annoying. Either way it was a chance to make a friend here. "Sharing sounds fine." James replied with a somewhat awkward smile. Leon and Serena had been really friendly with him on the way here and he was still getting used to it.
As for the tour James was itching to have a look around the place. It was huge and his sense of direction was kind of poor. He couldn't hope to go exploring by himself and not get lost, a tour would help with that. "A tour sounds great" James said after nodding along to Leons last comment in agreement.

James was relieved to hear that there was somewhere he could practice his ability. That was one of the main reasons he had been looking forwards to coming here. His lack of control was starting to seriously get on his nerves, plus it was kind of embarrassing when his arm turned into metal if something made him so much as jump.
As for why James was here, he needed a place to stay and go to school. At least until he could try to straighten things out with his Mother and prove to her that him being a mutant wasn't a bad thing. "I don't have anywhere to stay at the moment, so its full time for me too. I was supposed to come tomorrow but plans changed" He wasn't about to admit that his Mother had kicked him out unless Gemma asked why he had nowhere to stay, even though he had his mother who was perfectly able to take care of him, but didn't want someone like him in her house. James wasn't happy about staying away, however he would do it if she needed him to, which she apparently did.

James hadn't had a particular moment where his mutation had been out of control. Considering that it had never really been under his control. He shrugged "Well, for the first week I had no idea how it worked, so it kept turning on by itself. I realized about two weeks after discovering it that my watch was what allowed it to work by itself all the time. To be honest, it hasn't ever really been under my control...I can kind of...tell it to turn on. But it happens by itself when I'm scared. Normally."
James didn't really want to admit that it happened when he was angry, but he didn't want to really hold stuff back either. I might aswell say, Surely Leon looses control a little when hes angry too?
"My arms turn to steel when I'm angry, luckily I haven't had to punch someone with a metal arm but I can imagine it wouldn't be pretty." He wanted to ask Leon what had gone wrong during his control lapses but it was obviously something he was trying to avoid.
James was just glad to be here, for multiple reasons. Mainly that he wouldn't be out of place because of his ability and the fact that he could possibly learn to control his mutation properly. "Either way, we can learn to control our powers here if they get a bit out of our hands I guess."

James grinned and laughed a little at the car joke. "Nah, luckily it wasn't anything that serious." The truth was he didn't have to even think about it, the memory was well imprinted in the front of his mind.
"Well, its not a very interesting story, to be honest. Basically about five months ago I got up to go to the toilet in the middle of the night. The light bulb had blown and I couldn't see where I was going. The next thing I knew I was about to fall down the stairs, I only just managed to grab the metal bannister but I lost my grip and fell. Turns out the mix of possibly hurting myself and contact with metal turned my entire body into steel...didn't feel a damn thing when I fell down the stairs" He laughed a little at the memory, it was kind of funny if you looked at it the right way.
"Anyway, when I got to the bottom my skin was made of metal. The whole thing scared the hell out of me and i feinted." James winced a little at the memory of that particularly embarrassing moment. "I must have made one hell of a noise because I came to in the living room, still made of metal with the police there. My Mum flipped and she wouldn't talk to me for months. to make things worse it took me about four days to find out how to turn back to normal skin and i had to go through about three school days like that. Everyone avoided me like the plague." Again James' face split into a smile and he began to laugh at his own misfortune.
Honestly as much as he had said otherwise, James had loved those days at school. The way that the usual bullies left him alone. Especially considering they couldn't hurt him when his forehead was made from steel. Shrugging at Leon he apologized for the laughter. "Sorry, its just I find you have to laugh at these things to make them seem like a joke. Things can only go up from here I guess"

James listened to Leon explain his mutation. He tried his best not to,but as Leon went on about being able to control ash with his mind and have his body set on fire a childish grin begun to spread across his face. He was still getting used to the fact that the world was full of people with incredible powers like this and even though he had one himself he still found listening about others incredibly cool.
Trying his best to be serious and hide his smile James scratched his chin as he considered how to explain his own. The truth was James didn't know much about it himself, even though he had known about it for about five months and had been practicing it. "Well, I'm James and as far as I can tell, I can turn my skin into Iron and Steel. As long as I'm in contact with some anyway...the truth is I don't really know all that much about it. I guess you should also know that I can't really choose when it happens. If I'm scared it turns on by itself" He pulled back his sleeve to show the watch on his wrist. "I take this off if I think it might turn on by itself. I can usually tell just before it happens"
As for questions James didn't have any. The truth was he just wanted closure and to settle into some kind of normal life again as quick as possible. Shrugging he said "I don't have an questions really".

"Its just there's no T.V. Oh well, i guess we arent really going to be in here all that often" James wasn't sure whether he should tell Leon about his gaming habit, from experience he knew that not everyone was so...accepting of such a hobby and he didn't want have Leon avoid him. This was, after all, the first time James had been in a conversation with someone while managing to keep it normal rather than awkward.
Shrugging off that train of thought James went back to the bed and flopped down. Looking at his watch he realized it was only half past eight, the day had felt a lot longer than that. He could just close his eyes and fall asleep right now if he wanted, regardless of his erratic and fragmented mental state.
James thought it was probably a good idea to get to know Leon better. They would be sharing a living space and it would be weird if they didn't really know much about each other. Considering what they both were, asking how he had discovered his mutation sounded like a good place to start. "So, Leon. How did you discover your power? did you like, accidentally make a cigarette float out of your mouth or something?"

James felt a bit stupid after asking if Leon carried tape...why had he asked that? "Right...that was kind of a stupid question wasn't it?" He asked in a self-mocking voice. Taking Leons advice James chucked the last two in his bag and cracked his neck, mulling over the problem of packs being in similar places.
"Following what i said earlier, if you get the chance you should buy some tape to stick them in strange places like the back of your drawers". It hit James then, as he glanced around the room that there was no T.V. No T.V meant no games...good job he had left his consoles at his Mums. The prospect of living for a while without gaming was one which James disliked greatly. At least he still had his books. He could kind of survive without his games but it wouldn't be easy.
"Damn" he said to himself. "That really sucks...oh well, it kind of could be worse"

James watched Leon scurry around the room hiding cigarettes in various places of varying comedic value with an amused smile on his face. He got the impression that this wasn't the young smokers first time hiding cigarettes. James wouldn't have thought of half the places that the cigarette packets now resided.
>>"Help a friend out and find places to put these would you?"
James smiled slightly and raised an eyebrow. "You know you just turned this room into one big illegal den? In like on minute" He nodded in an impressed manner. "Not bad, I'm guessing you have done this before". Deciding he might as well help, if only to be a good roommate. Shrugging James got up and grasped the last five packets and opened his pillow case, in which he stuffed two packets.
Where could i put these ones? He thought to himself tapping the packets on the side of his head. Looking around the room his eyes came to rest on his bag. What have i got in there?. He walked over to his bag and opened it, he then pulled out a box which had his phone charger, iPod charger and various other bits and bobs. He nodded to himself...why not? James put another packet in there and turned to Leon. "You don't have any tape do you? You could stick packets to the back of the drawers and nobody would realize...probably"

James followed his fellow Brit into the dorm. The room was pretty big and there was plenty of space for the two of them. It was bigger than his bedroom at home, well. Bigger than his OLD bedroom in his OLD house. There were two beds, Leon quickly claimed the one next to the window. "Sure, i don't mind either way" He said slipping off his bag and throwing it onto the bed that was left, rubbing his shoulders where the bag straps had been he followed his belongings and flopped unceremoniously onto the pillows.
>>"so what do you think?"
James sat up shrugged. What did he think? Well, he wasn't about to admit to having actually enjoyed coming here so easily, even if he had. "Its alright, Better than my bedroom back at my Mums anyway" He replied with a smile. Looking at the window it came to James that Leon had probably chosen the bed next to it so he could smoke. "By the way, I'm not all that bothered about smoking myself. As long as you don't blow it in my face, but i would be careful if i were you. Other people here might not be so...well you know"

James sat down on the couch next to Leon, glad of somewhere to sit after having been wandering around for the past couple of hours. After sitting down he only just noticed how much his legs were aching and the mention of tea was a glorious one.
"A cup of tea would be great, Thanks". James hadn't had a cup of tea all day and it was just what he needed to help calm down his currently fragmented mental state. Answering all the questions Gemma had for him wasn't a problem. Admitting that his mother had just kicked him out in a mad rage of anti-mutant hatred, however, was going to be quite embarrassing. Let alone infuriating to talk about, but as usual James would deal with it and attempt to put a good face on it. The good thing about being at your lowest point is that it can only get better from there. He had told himself that continuously throughout a large portion of his life and had come to believe it.
Either way it would be good to find out more about Leon and to see if he would openly admit to his situation, rather than deny it like James had been doing himself early in the months of his estrangement with his mother.

James and Leon had been led up to the Bedrooms by one of the Mansions staff through the maze of corridors. James hadn't really understood how big the place really was from the outside, until him and Leon had been given a tour.
They were put together as roommates, considering they had already met and arrived at the same time. Naturally James was glad about this decision. He had met quite a few people and was reaching the end of his tether. One more stranger or awkward silence and he might have shamelessly ran away. His nerves had been stretched to breaking point more times today then they had in last couple of months.
James had told himself that he would try to deal with his social anxiety, after all it would start to become a problem here, there are new people left, right and center and avoiding them just wouldn't work. Either way atleast he didnt have to go through the process of meeting a new roommate.
So there they were, standing outside the door to the place that would be theirs for however long they were staying here. James turned to Leon and said jokingly "Care to do the honors?". Gesturing towards the door.
