The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Well, James has been running every morning while made of steel to get used to it, if you want he could be running and then literally run into Chad, them both obviously being mutants could spark a conversation. Considering James would automatically assume a mutant near the mansion is making their way there.

Well, I have James who is pretty simple to summarize. He's a teenager who is currently living at the mansion. He is more of an outdoor person and spends a large amount of time wandering around doing a lot of nothing. His mutation is the ability to transform his skin into steel and he is pretty interested in mutants as a rule, he might approach one if he saw one, especially one who looks interesting.
Recently he has done an awful lot of testing his mutation in dangerous ways. If you want he could be trying it out near water and fall in, unable to swim for obvious reasons.

I didn't take Aiden long to come back to the world of the aware. He looked alright and didn't seem surprise to be awake, so all in all, good.
Was he okay? Yeah, mostly. Besides the bruises he would have in the morning, located on the shoulder and stomach, James suspected he was no worse for wear. He ached a little and was considerably tired, but that was because the adrenaline had worn off. Unfortunately he would have to spend a night with a steel upper torso and arms. Changing back again might actually have a similar effect as to what Aiden's mutation had just done to him.
Shrugging, and wincing James smiled. "Yeah, I should be fine, a few bruises but that happens quite regularly." He felt like he was missing something...Manners, Thank the guy for saving your butt.
"Oh, and thanks for coming to help. I doubt that I could've escaped those guys without it. I definitely owe you one."
Standing James stretched his back and cracked his neck then looked down at the other mutant. "You need a hand up or are you good to go?"

A wave of relief washed over James as Aiden turned the corner. "Thank god" He muttered as the other mutant made his way towards the mansion.
As the pale teenager got within talking distance he started to speak, James notices the colour returning to Aiden's skin, it looked weird, and he was mostly back to normal. Following he was about to wait for the other mutant to finish talking and thank him for saving the day, but the last sentence made him stop.
"I'm about to run out of snow, don't worry, this is-" Aiden's eyes rolled back and he began to fall forwards.
"Oh, Crap!" James yelped and his right arm snapped forwards and grabbed the back of the unconscious teenagers shirt, stopping him from face planting and hurting himself. Grunting James pulled Aiden back and sat him down. After a quick check under his eyelids and his heartbeat, James decided he was just unconscious an not dead.
"Well, This is a situation I hadn't counted on." Scratching the back of his head James thought of what to do. He didn't know how long the teenager would be out, deciding it would be a better idea just to drag Aiden back a couple of meters back to the fence, lean him against it and wait for a five minutes. If not, well, he would have to lug him up the path into the mansion. Not that Aiden was particularly heavy, but it would still be awkward.
James dragged Aiden against the wall and crouched next to him. Well, at least we both got away relatively unscathed. Save for you know...the whole fainting thing. Still feeling like he should thank the other mutant James patted him on the shoulder. "I sure as hell owe you one." It made him feel a bit stupid talking to someone who can't talk back, but he could just repeat it afterwards.

The run wasn't particularly long, but the continuous use of his mutation throughout the day had tired him. James knew the limitations of his ability, but keeping it in mind was still something he had to master. Although the run couldn't have lasted any longer than two minutes, it had felt longer, dragged on by the guilty feeling which resided in the mutants gut.
He reached the mansion gates, and stopped, bending over, hands on knees to take in a couple of shallow breaths. You couldn't have done anything even if you had tried. James told himself. That was a situation best avoided in future. How could he avoid it though?
The fact that James was a mutant had hit him hard at first, but that was because his mother kicked him out for it, not because he had thought of the problems which came with the label. The idea of getting followed and beaten hadn't even occurred to him, but now the reality of it came crashing down. This was a problem, happening everywhere to mutants all over the planet. People like himself.
So then there were people like Aiden, who saved people from it.
My mutation is pretty much perfect for standing in the way of harm for others...James thought idly.
What? So now he wanted to be a hero? Was he cut out for it? Maybe. He had the nerve, but not the skills. Regardless, learning to fight was definitely something to put high on the "to do" list, even if it was just for his own good.
Mentally shrugging off the topic James leaned against the mansions tall fence. Looking down the road for any sign of his savior. If Aiden didn't turn up within the next ten minutes he decided to use the communicator in his pocket to call the X-men and tell them what had happened, right before going off to look for the other mutant himself. But it won't end up like that, Aiden can handle himself.
It was a good job James was a positive kind of guy, or he would have panicked and called for help by now.

As the metal spread across James's body he knew instantly something was wrong. As the cold feeling spread across his stomach he noticed that it was accompanied by a strange pulling sensation...no wait, more like a tiring sensation.
Quickly James broke contact, breathing heavily. How many times have I used it today? Once...twice? He had used it in the morning for his run, then turned back, which was twice. Again when he had been in his room, messing around, then back again. Great, four changes. Anymore and I'm going to get seriously tired.
Looked like he wouldn't be any more help, on cue Aiden told him to leave and get out of there. James considered his options. Aiden was healing quickly, but there were five of the thugs, but mutations tended to have an effect on the user. Could the other mutant keep it up for long enough?
A feeling of helplessness washed over the teenager, he couldn't fight. He could run, hell, James could run. However running meant leaving Aiden. He didn't know the other teenager all that well but he was still a nice guy. If I leave him, I'll feel like crap.
But maybe feeling like crap wasn't important. Damn, that kid was sticking his neck out for someone he barely knew. So whats it going to be? Run or try to fight?
"Okay Aiden, I'll get the hell out of here, but if I find out you got the s#*& knocked out of you, I'll kill you"
Felling like a total wimp, James pumped his arms and legs as fast as he could and sped around the corner, feeling worse with every step he took. He ran a little longer, breathing heavily. The transformation had taken more out of him than he'd thought. Goddammit, Sure hope Aiden is okay.

They walked up to the store and James saw the star wars shirt. Oh, look...that's A New Hope right? The one where they save her from the...Okay never mind we are moving. Amelia grabbed his arm. The physical contact made James feel a little uncomfortable, but he didn't feel like he was being constricted by an anaconda like usual, which was strange.
Without resisting much James let Amelia drag him into the shop, or the lions den. Depends how you look at it, really. James barely had time to go red when the Goth-girl smiled at him, before getting dragged further into the shop.
Stopping at the men's section of tees sporting food jokes, a few made him chuckle. Wow, you are enjoying this aren't you? The cynical part of his mind chided. Ignoring it he listened to Amelia's question. Did he like peanut butter and chocolate? People ate both together? Hmm, James couldn't say he did if he hadn't tried it.
"People eat both?" He scratched his head and looked at Amelia questioningly. "I can't say I do, considering I've never tried it"
With things like this, James was clueless. Even though he'd been living in America he hadn't made many friends and ate food the way he did in England. Damn, Seems I've been pretty out of touch.

"Right." James nodded and stood up as the bus rolled to a halt at the stop. Mentally preparing himself for the cold he made his way down the isle, out the door and waited for his companion.
"Okay," James said, shivering a little while trying to stop his teeth from chattering. The bumps rose again and he felt like his limbs would literally die of frostbite. At the risk of looking strange James jogged on the spot as Amelia got off the bus.
"So, Lead the way." He said to Amelia.
James seriously had no idea what suited him and didn't, so he was putting himself entirely in the other mutants hands. If she wanted she could pick out a load of strange looking clothes and James would be completely oblivious to the ridicule of the others around him.

Amelia was telling him to look at something, however James felt stiff as a board unable to move or look anywhere near her. He was still going through the freezing power of sudden awkward moments but he took a deep breath and managed to look at her just as she turned to him.
Hmmm, a job. At the mansion? That was pretty much perfect, considering he lived there. Nodding to himself James smiled. That would be perfect, money without having to really go looking for a job? Sounded right up his alley.
"Yeah," He said slowly, feeling like this day couldn't get any better. "That sounds...amazing. I'd really appreciate it, thanks." Although it was true that James's working experience didn't stretch much further than the working experience of the average dog, it was something to look forward to, at least. That and something to fill up his spare time out of classes.
Sighing, James closed his eyes end let his head roll back. Relaxing they waited in silence, which wasn't awkward. More the kind of silence common to those waiting for something together. He couldn't be sure but it felt like a good while, James didn't know where the shop was but it couldn't be any further than a couple of minutes away.
James blushed when the girl smiled at him, something which had happened more often in the past five months than in his entire life beforehand. It was strange, maybe people at the mansion were just a whole lot nicer. After all they were mostly unusual in their own ways, unlike at school where James had been 'the weird English kid' for a while.
The temperature in the bus was considerably higher and it felt glorious. The bumps on his arms began to go down quickly and he felt a lot more comfortable. Sitting down he nodded to what Amelia was saying. "Yeah, I probably should but..." Saying 'I have like two friends' probably would sound a bit needy so he left it there. Besides, being without friends wasn't something he was unfamiliar with.
James settled into his seat and let out a deep breath, the awkwardness inside was starting to fade slightly. This was usually part of the process, feeling awkward to start off with and then gradually getting used to the other person...well girl, Anyway. It didn't seem to happen with guys as much. That was until Amelia mentioned getting a job and doing ridiculous things like...
Oh dear. Why would she say that...She was older than him right? Shorter but older and James was hardly attractive..well no more than the usual guy anyway. James's spine felt like a rigid metal pole and he couldn't turn to look at the other mutant.
Nope, don't think that, there is NO way. Mentally slapping himself James managed to cough up a somewhat coherent response.
"I...Yeah, probably should get a...a job...to...mhmm." Well it could be worse, you could have just stood up and shouted something stupid like you normally do.

James chuckled a little to the words "Sounds cool". Had she meant to do that or not? Not that it mattered really.
Have I been sightseeing? Well, no. James surprised himself. He hadn't been anywhere really, besides Central park, he'd been there a few times. He had seen the Statue of Liberty too but not up close.
"Now you mention it...No, I haven't." He admitted with a sheepish smile. The revelation made him feel slightly foolish.
Then Amelia said something that shocked him, Dr Who? Well, that was just plain uncommon, in his experience.
This was the first time James had heard an American mention the show. Like most British children James had watched it, his mother had when she was younger and she encouraged him to. It was kind of a British thing, from what he knew. Although he knew in his lifetime it had become an awful lot more popular over here. He had kept up with it on the internet, but still it was unusual to hear about it from someone else.
James considered what to say, he didn't want to sound rude and just go "No way an American who likes Dr Who?!" Fortunately just before James was about to reply to her question the bus came rolling up in front of them and stopped. After a small group of people got off he nodded at the short girl in front of him.

How was England? Well, that was a question and a half. Different? That was a bit vague. Cold and wet, a lot different to what people thought it was like. Then again, so was America. James had expected New York to be the kind of place that was really rich and perfect, like in the movies. But no, it wasn't.
"Well, to start off with it's a lot colder and wetter. The people are grumpier but it was still a nice place to live." Speaking of living back in England brought back memories of when life was simple, back when him and his mother lived happily without a care in the world. Quite the opposite of now, James would never have dreamed of his mother cutting him off from her life in such a manner, simply because he had a strange power.
Regardless of what he used to believe, she had. Dealing with it had gotten easier, but the bitter feeling of rejection was still hard to stomp out. If James's natural positivity hadn't put up a barrier against it, he probably would have slipped into the "I give up on life" zone, luckily it had kept him functioning.
But this wasn't helping, shoving negative thoughts to the back of his mind James shrugged off the dark mood and tried concentrating on what England had been like.
"Apart from that, its pretty much exactly the same, just smaller with different food."

James winced as Aiden took a blow. Crap, think before you speak. Distraction is bad, this isn't a computer game James. Realizing that scolding himself wouldn't help the situation at all he looked for an opening to either escape through or attack through...which really wasn't a good idea, not without his full steel skin thing going on.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Great actually...Its you I'm worried about." It hurt when he spoke, and he rubbed his stomach. There would be a lovely bruise tomorrow morning but still, at least he hadn't taken a pipe to the side of the head, cold have been worse.
Then one of the thugs grunted something at Aiden, James wasn't really listening but an idea came to him. I might not be able to fight but steel shoulders probably hurt.
Bending forwards slightly and standing in a ready position, like a runner getting ready to sprint James made a choice which might not turn out so well for him, but it wasn't just himself in danger anymore.
While the men were looking at the other mutant James tensed his leg muscles. Okay on one...two...three.
Without a word James bolted, body low and shoulders tucked in, like a steel battering ram and ran through the group. Knocking two of the men to their feet with a satisfying bump. He didn't stop and ran out of the mouth of the alley, around the corner where he stopped and looked back.
"You okay back there?"
Aiden seemed to be handling himself, but even so, James couldn't just leave the teenager by himself. Looking around frantically the steel-skinned mutant looked for something made of his favorite material.
A lamp post would do. Walking up to it James put both of his metal palms on the sides, willing himself to change. The familiar cold feeling washed over him and a smile spread across his face.
