The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Evelyn almost laughed at the idea of not needing weapons. While there were self defense techniques that might work against humans and burglars, she wasn't sure she wanted to try kicking someone between the knees who could charbroil her any second. Weapons just seemed more practical right now. The question about her powers made her smile waver slightly though. "My mutation is just being...smart." That was a conversation for another time. Trying to talk about the voices in her head while dealing with robbers was really not the 'smartest' thing to do.
Thankfully, Sara seemed as hesitant as she was about dealing with the police. She listened to the cashier behind the counter, who was muttering something she couldn't quite make out. Echoes didn't enhance her hearing unfortunately. She took a step closer and her frown deepened. "I'm not sure this is going to go over well if we stay. Can we like, tie them up really quick or something? Or stuff them in the walk in freezer?" The metal seemed like it might hold until the police at least got there. It was an option, if nothing else.

Evelyn tried to ignore the twisting in her gut as she followed Kyle down the hall. Memories drifted through her mind in diluted playbacks, bringing images of the last time she wandered these halls. Most of the individuals she ran into from the sanctuary had treated her well enough, but she would hate to explain getting kidnapped again.
Eventually they came up to a somewhat similar looking set up to what the Danger Room looked like at the mansion, and Evelyn frowned slightly as she moved inside. What would he want here?
The combat gear only raised her concern.
"Attack you? I didn't exactly bring my sai with me for this little adventure..." She glanced at his gear and memories of training with Locke came back. Her powers were mostly in her head, physically powered mutants just seemed like unfair opponents.
Upstairs, Evelyn glanced around the dinner she had hijacked for this evening. Several of the tables had been moved, and a dinner for two was set in it's place. It was no butterfly garden, but at least the food would be good. So long as Gawain managed to find her in time, that was. Otherwise, it would just be a little colder. She momentarily wondered if she should have brought music or something, but that would have given things away.
Maybe she should have put music on...
Sneaking to the stairwell, she listened and let the echoes track where Gawain was. The movements towards the weapon section was hard to hear from here, but enough she knew Gawain was at least heading in the right direction. For now, she'd sit back and see if he could find the way to the end of the trail of clues.

I will likely not be online much this weekend. Lots of driving, then a show, no idea if I will have WiFi anywhere. If you need me, may be easier to send me a PM until Tuesday.

Gawain, surprisingly, stuck to the game and continued through the museum. Evelyn tracked his progress, leaving what roughly resembled a path with the lights and mentally reviewing the next few clues. The goal was to eventually lead him to the restaurant on the second story, so the clues led to places on the first story only. If he started for any stairs, she would have to rethink her plans. That would just spoil things.
He didn't stray too much, and finally came into the room with the chandler hanging calmly in the middle of the exhibit. The next clue was propped up on an easel. It was another picture, this one of Gawain hanging upside down from a tree. A piece of paper was taped to the canvas.
Ever hero needs a weapon.
There were plenty of weapons in the museum, but the bow and arrow in question would be back in the armory exhibit. Noting Gawain's progress, she snuck her way towards the stairwell to check and make sure everything upstairs was in place. She had a feeling the next clue would be too obscure. It wasn't like Gawain would know where to find that particular painting by Renior. She probably should have thought that through... With luck, maybe Gawain would find his way to the end and skip the last two clues. At least he'd get to see the painting.

Evelyn flinched in empathy as she watched WereCat get hit, the pained noise triggering the echoes attention and dragging them away from the fight she was involved with. The water on her face mingled with blood and further hindered her sight, but she managed to dart out of the way from the now extinguished mutant. He seemed less than pleased with the turn of events. His displeasure only grew when WereCat ordered everyone to freeze, holding the gun in her hands.
Evelyn stepped away from her opponent, taking the opportunity to swipe her face clean again. "Can't say I have much aversion to being armed, considering the alternatives... Perhaps someday I can have a more defensive mutation." Evelyn answered. slowly assessing the situation. The robbers were wet, angry, but standing down, and behind the counter the echoes caught movement from the cashier. At least he was alive, for now. She was still waiting for the sounds of sirens as she carefully moved to pick up her sai.
Looking around, the store was thrashed to an impressive measure. Calculating the damages, Evelyn wondered if trying to stop them had really been the better alternative. Now they were stuck at the scene of the crime, holding off dangerous criminals while waiting for police that could very well arrest them for damages in their vigilante actions. That would probably not go over well with the x-men.
She shifted the sai in her hands and frowned at the thugs. They presented a new batch of problems. "Recommended course of action?" She asked her companion.

Night was rarely a time for sleep with Evelyn. Tonight was one of those times.
For once tired of painting, and sketching, Evelyn found herself wandering the mansion considering what she should do. She didn't feel inclined to watch a movie, and reading had an appeal, but not enough of one to warrant the trip to the library. Eating wasn't necessary, considering she wasn't hungry, and that quickly eliminated many of the options she had at this hour. If Mirror was awake they could keep her company, but a pass by the room revealed the lack of that option.
With a frown, she finally decided she could at least do something useful and go to the danger room to train. Turning one of the corners she headed that way, pausing slightly as she heard the sound of footsteps nearby. Perhaps she wasn't alone at this hour.
Gawain seemed a little confused at first by the clue, and Evelyn momentarily wondered if she had made them too hard. It didn't seem that complicated at first, but maybe the scavenger hunt would have been fairer if someone else helped with it. Hindsight always came a little late.
He made it to the gallery though, and one of the knights was holding a piece of paper in it. The next clue was perhaps even more difficult. Something about a gallery with a silver chandelier and a fireplace. Evelyn was already rethinking her strategy and moving out of the control office to where the lighting banks were. Gradually dimming some of the light in wings that weren't involved in the hunt, she hoped it could at least narrow things down.
Maybe. She decided to avoid reflections for the moment in case Gawain tried to cheat.

At the front desk was an easel, with a small canvas propped up against it. From far away, the picture that was painted on it might have been a photo, but up close all the brush strokes stood out, and the carefully applied blobs of color. Almost every detail was accurate, down to the last shine on the dogs nose. One things was wrong, however. The eyes were painted grey.
On the counter was a collection of paint bottles, varying in colors. Green, gold, silver, brown, blue. There was no note here, at least, not that Gawain would be able to see. Under the label of the brown bottle, however, was the next clue, carefully taped and hidden so it didn't stand out.
Once upon a time, a mummy met a knight. Find the gallery of their encounter to receive your next clue.
After several hours trying to make the dumb clues rhyme, Evelyn eventually gave up and just made something that vaguely made sense. Vaguely was mostly due to the fact a mutant with a perfect memory was trying to write them. She had joked about looking like a mummy the night Gawain rescued her from the museum during the riots. Whether he remembered that...
From the security office, Evelyn watched the progress. It seemed to be going okay so far. He was in the doors at least.

Valentine's Day was not something Evelyn could remember celebrating. Without a boyfriend, there were no dates. Without any girl friends, there was no one to anti-Valentine's Day with, even. Her parents weren't even the sort to give random chocolates or gifts 'just because'. Valentine's Day, in Evelyn's world, didn't exist.
Until this year.
It seemed simple enough at first. Get some chocolate or some cute card, have a romantic evening, that was the rule of thumb. But Evelyn found herself somewhat disappointed at the idea of being so, well, predictable. She wanted to celebrate with Mirror, and that meant abandoning the things she thought of as being 'typical' for this holiday.
It started with scheming, and ended with a Museum that was closed for everyone, but two mutants.
That took some maneuvering, bribery, and the calling in of a few favors. Getting Mirror there required Jensen's help, and she could only imagine what the mirror-walker was thinking when they found themselves dropped off at an empty museum, the lights faintly glowing into the nighttime. On the door was a note, written in elegant calligraphy.
The game is afoot. Proceed to the front desk.
Okay, that part wasn't terribly creative, but it was necessary.

Evelyn momentarily zoned out with the images overtaking her thoughts. Days, months, years spun together in crystal clear images. Normally she managed the memories better, but today the edges leaked together, like colors on a paint pallet blending, mixing, mingling. She liked order in her life: everything had a place, a purpose. Without order, she would live in chaos with her thoughts.
A glance at Kate brought flashes of other memories, and her emotions just stirred more. It was always hard to let go old emotions when they kept twisting back to the surface. "I'm an artist, but it still doesn't help much in this instance. Heck, even my powers don't help much. I know how it's supposed to look, but no way to repair them... Touch ups, modern artwork, sure... but history... the right paint, canvas, frames...Sorry, I'm rambling." She glanced at what Kate was doing, and moved down the line.
"I'm sorry I really shouldn't bother you while you're working." Her cheeks colored and she turned her attention back to the clipboard. The memories faded slightly as she focused, the echoes mildly noting what the other woman was doing.
Trying to fight the ground sucked. Evelyn would rather have trained against something less unfair. Not that life was ever fair, but really, when your primary defense was hand to hand combat, squaring off against rocks seemed cruel. Whether or not her plan worked this time seemed irrelevant, if she could at least make some sort of effort, maybe it'd make a difference.
Bugs bunny trick was sort of rude. Evelyn wanted to smack Locke after tripping a few times, but redirected her irritation back towards the task at hand. Water water water.....
Reaching the faucet, Evelyn turned it on and darted sideways, hoping the stream of water would at least make some impact.
Kyle was cornering her with his words. It wasn't fair. The echoes flickered, listened, observed. He wasn't lying. He did need her help with something. She knew Mirror would be irritated, but she wavered, considered. Was it worth the arguing? Was it worth upsetting the mirror-walker? They seemed to butt heads on and off, and she normally tried adding fuel to the fire. But this was a friend, asking for help. She had been understanding about Kate after the gala fiasco. Maybe Mirror would understand about this now.
Slowly, she sighed. "So long as it's not too long...." She took a step forward. She should be heading backwards.
Evelyn tried to imagine what it would be like trying to get Angua and Frost 'used to each other'. The idea seemed somewhat comical in her mind. "I am curious to see what ideas you come up with, short of leaving Angua in a mirror..." Then again, that didn't seem like the most dangerous of ideas. Then again, they all knew Evelyn's sense of danger was flawed.
As Maya hugged her, Frost puffed up her fur slightly and shot Maya a look of irritation. Jealous.

Evelyn looked at her surroundings, and considered what Locke had said. To be honest, she didn't find it very helpful. The knock on the tree just made her cling to the branch in desperation and grumble under her breath as the bark dug into her skin. The echoes noted the indented texture in her fingers, and chewed her lip as she tried to analyze her options. In the distance, the echoes caught the glimmer of a faucet attached to the building. The weather was still cold, but maybe...
"Well, I never was a fan of having someone come save me..." With that she jumped from the tree, tucked and rolled, getting her feet under her, and bolted towards the hose. It was doing something at least, although the dirt and rocks dug into her bare feet as she scrambled away from Locke. She wondered what it looked like from his end of things. New student running away from her first lesson.
Well, it probably looked better than throwing pinecones at Fluffy...
