The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Evelyn shrugged slightly at Kate. After working here as long as she had she knew the curator had her own way of doing things, especially where the museum was concerned. While they always appreciated money, at this point there wasn't much it would do to fix things. It would take talent to fix things, and dollar bills could only bring so much of that. "I'm sure we'd let you know, but most of what's broken it just going to take time to repair. The paints pretty much got up and started walking around. Not much you can do when there are characters just missing from a canvas... Each repair has taken a lot of time to put together, and a lot of effort to get right. It's slow, but steady."
Evelyn took some time to note the progress of nearby pieces. Her eyes and echoes scanned and learned, watched and noted. With the damage and changes, she was looking at the overlapping memories of what the museum was once, and how it was now. It was a slow flipbook of damage she hated to see.
Evelyn considered Maya's question for a moment, and the images it put in her head almost made her laugh out loud. Squirrels spontaneously transforming into this strange hybrid animal was a funny idea, although the echoes were quick to spoil it with a flurry of information. "He says it takes a long time to create them. That's why I didn't get Frost for like a year... Maybe it's more like telepathy or something where you can feel or sense what your powers are doing..." The echoes always did what they wanted. She was somewhat envious of powers that had more control.
Frost clawed at a pencil and seemed to give Maya an indignant look at the question.
"She uses the litter box. I've seen people train their cats to use the actual toilets but that seems to take a special level of devotion I'm not sure I have..." Evelyn trailed off, more comical ideas coming to mind. "I guess my favorite part of having her around is she's somewhat nocturnal, so we keep each other company when the rest of the mansions asleep." The green hue of the foxsquirrel's eyes seemed to follow the conversation until she prances over to the dresser and batted around a thing of playing cards for a bit.

An expensive cat... well, that was certainly one way to view Frost. There was something feline in the little animal's demeanor, especially the way she hissed and fluffed up her fur. Although there were also more to her. The way she perched on shoulders was perhaps almost birdlike in a way, and her loyalty was closer to a dogs than a cats. Evelyn's echoes were always buzzing, always learning about the little animal. No, there was much more to her than just being an expensive cat.
"I always wanted a pet, even before coming here to the mansion. It's been fun so far having her. Challenging, but fun. And I guess I'm still learning a lot though. Ryan, the guy who made her, pretty much just gave the the basics. She likes eating meat, is terribly curious... She seems to share a lot of characteristics with the squirrel she was made from, so I guess that's something. And the Ryan guy, well, he was friendly enough." Evelyn wasn't sure what else to say. Frost's tail danced above the top of the curtains.

The echoes watched Kyle while he watched Evelyn. His facial expressions revealed the slight confusion her statement had drawn, and curiosity lingered under the surface. This wasn't entirely surprising. Evelyn wasn't really the sort you'd expect at the Sanctuary, considering her distaste for the place. As many people as she knew whole lived her, they weren't typically people she'd be calling to hang out with, especially not on their own turf. But the kid tended to make things difficult, and that whole drama wasn't something she wanted to go into with Forte. Helpful or not, she tried to keep a small amount of distance from him. There was always something lurking under the surface she wasn't quite certain of; other intentions she couldn't see. Mirror sometimes seemed a bit too paranoid, other times it seemed like she was the one who wasn't cautious enough.
As Forte spoke, Evelyn considered whether this was one of those times.
"I'm not sure... I really should be going. Mirror's going to freak out as it is that I came here. And you two didn't exactly get chummy last time you hung out..." The pale mutant considered. She didn't want to reject the offer, but something didn't feel right. He wasn't lying, but the echoes were buzzing with something in his words, his behavior. Was he hiding something? Was that curiosity under the surface, or something darker, more mischievous, almost? She couldn't tell, couldn't make out the signals. Maybe it was better to leave and let go of her curiosity.
The echoes tangled around her though, begging to solve it, to make light of the questions. How could they leave before knowing?

Evelyn grimaced slightly at the idea of trying to herd people at all. She could barely take care of Frost, and that was just a pet. She couldn't imagine being a team leader or anything like that. "Yeaaah, I can see how that would be difficult. I'm content being a background player in life. Keeping things in my own head sorted is hard enough." Frost gradually lost interest in Mirror and scampered over to the window, knocking over a few pencils as she did. Evelyn knew better than to waste time picking them up now. By the time they got back from cleaning the infirmary, Frost would have knocked them over again.
"You do pretty good at training people though. Well, I might be a bit biased, but I learned a lot from you."[/b Evelyn smiled slightly. "Angua... well, she's usually pretty obedient I think. Better than Frost. I can't teach her anything. She's bratty as can be. I think she thinks knocking things off desks is a game..." The echoes buzzed as the rodent burrowed herself into the curtails and stared out the window.

As they got closer to the city, Evelyn's nerves started to rise again. Her grip tightened on the feathers, and the flurries of wind made her hair blow across her vision. From what she could see, the city was pretty from up here, regardless. The sun glimmered on the skyscrapers, sending reflective hues across her vision. Meanwhile, the echoes studied the streets, mapping out the city from the rare viewpoint. The people were hard to recognize from here, the tiny dots impossible to count as they made their way across her vision. It was terrifying, and exhilarating.
At then Carrick decided to chase pigeons.
"Hey! Wait, don't....." Flattening herself against his neck she muffled a squeak of fear. Carrick glanced at her and she hoped he'd get the clue and slow down.
Nope.
They went higher, and the echoes panicked, trying to guess their altitude. Chances of injury, types of injuries, velocity upon impact, all kinds of statistics flashed through her mind. Information she didn't need to know. Information it felt was necessary. And then, he dove. If she hadn't screamed, she would have cussed him out. Instead she just buried her face again and held on for dear life. When she could feel her stomach again, and her breathe returned, she muttered into his neck. "You're a jerk."

Evelyn shrugged. Truth be told, she was still learning about dogs and their behavior. Humans she could study fairly easily, but dogs she only knew from brief encounters in the park, and now whenever Angua was around. Squirrels had certainly been a quirk she noticed, but maybe she underestimated how deep the desire to chase them went.
Frost gave Maya's hand an inquisitive sniff, before hissing slightly at the scent of dog. "Be nice." Evelyn scolded. Frost fluffed her tail, then gradually nudged her head against the mirror-walkers hand and 'allowed' herself to be pet.
"I'm sure a few minutes wouldn't hurt... So, how are things on your end of the mansion? You know, when I'm not sending fox squirrels through it..." Evelyn said, pushing her hair from her face. A few snarls escaped, but nothing too bad.

Maya seemed relatively okay with Frost. Well, as okay as you could be with a pet that was just attacking your significant other's face. After ridding herself of the snarls in her hair she sighed and moved over to the desk. She offered a hand to Frost as a gesture of peace, and after a moment of consideration the little creature butted its head against her fingers and licked one of the scratched in apology. "Yeah, you better be sorry you little imp." Evelyn muttered, then smoothed out her hair once more before facing the door.
"It's fine, I didn't figure they would get along super well. I just hope long term Angua will realize Frost is not for chasing...Otherwise anytime she gets loose it'll be interesting..." Evelyn muttered. She groaned at the thought of going back to see DocProf. "He's going to have our hides... You sure you want to go back in there?" She shot Maya a rueful expression, already drained at the thought.
"I don't mind cleaning, I just don't want him hovering over my shoulder grumbling the whole time..." Her knack of causing trouble was slowly loosing the old man's patience with her. Everytime she came back bruised and bloodied he just looked less amused....

Evelyn tried her best to smooth her hair, the blush still on her face. It was accompanied by the blood from the scratches, so there was a general red hue around her. "It's a foxsquirrel. Last year I found an add this guy had and he was selling them. His powers were to turn other animals into them I guess. Frost was probably a squirrel of some sort to start with..." Evelyn mused, looking at it. She fished for a hairbrush on her dresser then attacked the snarls again.
"Anyway, I forgot I ordered one, then he showed up the other day with it and it sort of attached to me. She's usually more well behaved..."
>>"I hope it has its shots..."
"I'm not sure they make shots for foxsquirrels..." Evelyn admitted with a frown.

Once the path was clear, Evelyn went back to her room to deal with her rather distressed pet. She half hoped Frost would just find a new perch and sulk there, but the claws just keep digging in deeper, and her hands were covered with bite marks by the time Maya reappeared.
"I probably oweee wouldn't try right now. She's just a little oweee! upset." Some unladylike words and a bit of scrambling later, Evelyn managed to free herself and the little squirrel ran over to the dresser where it sat, hissing. "So, uh, not the best way to introduce you two, but Maya, this is Frost...Frost, Maya." Evelyn motioned from one of them to the other, and Frost just sat and licked her tail, smoothing the fur.
"She was sleeping last time you were here... Sorry I didn't get a chance to introduce you sooner. I figured bringer her by your room could be trouble..." Evelyn remarked.

>>"It's her fault!"
Evelyn shot Maya a glare as the fox squirrels back claws dug into her cheek bone. A pair of eyes peered out from on top of her head, and another hiss echoed in response to Angua's barking. DocProf spat profanities as the mirror-walker tried to drag her pet back, and Evelyn sighed, waiting for an opening to get to the ground. A few moments later there was a slight clearing, and she wiggled to the ground. The little animal was almost indistinguishable from her white locks.
"I expect you'll be back later to clean up everything they knocked over." DocProf grumbled, and Evelyn flushed deeper.
"Right, I'll just get her back to the room first..." Evelyn muttered sheepisly and made for the exit. The claws were still digging into her skin.

The echoes were calculating. Voice echoes, distance, mansion blueprint, all of equaled--
"DocProf is going to kill me!" Evelyn hissed, panic causing a second wind to hit as she raced faster. As she skidded into the room, her face turned pure red as she looked at the chaos the animals had caused. DocProf was backed into a corner, and the fox squirrel was hiding up on one of the cabinets next to his head. Angua was circling and barking with obvious excitement.
"What the hell is that!" The doctor yelled over the noise, and Evelyn scrambled up onto the counters after the little creature.
"It's Frost, she's my--owe! I mean she's an---owe!!! Foxsquirrel!" Frost apparently did not want to be rescued, and a few scratches and bites later Evelyn had the terrified animal tangled in her hair.

>>"Angua is chasing...something..."
"Oh, that's just Frost. She's a foxsquirrel." Evelyn said, pink tinting her face as she kept moving towards the noise. The crashes didn't sound promising... "And I've been good, you know. Busy." Apparently, too busy to tell her girlfriend about the pet fox squirrel she bought... opps.
"Frooooossttt..." Evelyn called, turning one of the corners and drawing closer to the barking. A faint hissing noise sounded distantly. It seems Frost was getting tired of the chase and had found somewhere to perch instead.

Of course, Maya would be wandering the hallways with her dog. And of course Angua would think the tiny rodent was something to be chased. Evelyn was knocked sideways as the dog rushed past, then Maya took after her dog. The white haired girl did her best to keep up, but she was loosing momentum. The Danger Room didn't include chasing animals all over the mansion.
"Ugh, this is....hopeless..." She muttered, gasping for air. She wasn't too worried about the fox squirrel at least. Frost was quick enough to get away, and keeping the chaos at a minimum looked out of the question now. But somehow they managed to drag Maya into things...

Frost had escaped.
Not that this was an entirely new event, but usually the foxsquirrel's 'escape' only took her into the kitchen where she raided a box of cereal or a fruit bowl. Escape didn't usually take her down the hallways, carrying off peoples belongings like a scavengers. Today, Frost managed to snag Evelyn's cell phone, and then decided the cell phone needed to go somewhere else.
Somewhere else was halfway around the mansion by the time Evelyn scrambled after the little critter.
"Frost! Get back here with that!" Evelyn hissed, trying not to alert half the mansion there was a rodent on the loose. While the little animal had lived her for a good month or so, the screams of one of two students had made her cautious enough about where her pet went. Kids were fine, but the last thing she wanted is one of the dogs to think the foxsquirrel was a new pet.
Speaking of dogs...Evelyn's echoes started buzzing as they neared Maya's room, and Evelyn realized Angua had never officially met the rodent... Hopefully the door was shut. Right?
