The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Evelyn sighed and motioned to his hand, while also giving into Angua's petting demand. "You can tell me something after you deal with your hand. Unless you're planning on breaking more things first?" She remarked with a raised eyebrow. The hallway was practically caked in nervous energy. Gawain seemed guilty, and the echoes wanted to know why.
Well, Evelyn wanted to know why. But the echoes were trying to tell her.

Evelyn was exhausted. But that wasn't exactly anything unusual.
After a short shift at work, she decided to do some training in the Danger Room. But her mind wasn't really in it. The end result was a few extra cuts and bruises, and a killer headache. She still hadn't learned how to really reign in her new power growth, and the frustration just seemed to built.
As she came around the corner to her room, however, the echoes quickly noted that someone was having a worse day. Slowing down, she squinted at Gawain and tried to assess the situation. "Did I show up at a bad time?" She remarked slowly, confusion stuck on her face now.

While Mrs. Summers was mostly composed during the first portion of the conversation, the wail of distress she made as her husband stumbled backwards with a bloodied face quickly attracted staff, and then building security. Cursing and hissed threats responded to Gawain's last remarks, and it was clear they weren't on any better footing than when they started.
Probably worse. Mrs. Summers carpet now had blood on it, and she was shrieking more for the floor than her husband's face.
Security quickly instructed Gawain to leave, although one or two may have been struggling not to smile at the site of Mr. Summers face. It was doubtful this incident would stay quiet for long.

"...neither of you miss Evelyn as a person?"
It was clear almost immediately he wouldn't get the answer he hoped for. Mr. Summers' mouth twitched somewhere between a frown and a laugh. The cyclical grimace he gave was quickly followed by a heated remark. "I could handle an extra pair of genes, kid. Tails, fur, your normal mutations or whatever you call them... sure. Maybe we would have worked something out. That girl has more problems than just a loose gene or two. There is no way to keep a secret around Evelyn. There is no privacy around her. She lets those dumb voices in her head or whatever she's calling them stop her from functioning like a normal civilized human being. That just doesn't work in our society.
"Have you ever considered that she's part of the problem here? Have you ever lived with a kid who doesn't forget? Who wakes up just as mad at you and upset as the day before? Even if we did want her back, you obviously don't know her very well if you'd think she'd go for it. She's broken, kid. Stuck in rewind. Eventually you'll get sick of going back into the past with her. People move on. She never will." The man scoffed.

Mrs. Summers managed to stay composed during the first portion of Gawain's retaliation. Her face was calm, save for the faint twitch of her mouth as his voice grew in volume. But at the word mutant, her brow furrowed, and finally she frowned, irritation showing through. Mr. Summers was already angry, but she finally cracked along with him.
"I don't care what powers you have, or who you think you are. I'm not going to grovel to anyone, especially not for that spoiled rotten brat. She needs to learn her place, and perhaps you should do the same. Respect? I don't need to respect your kind.
"You can mosey out whatever wall you want, perhaps you have the upper hand for now, but power comes in many forms, kid. You have no idea what I can do with just a phone call. Forget that little apartment of hers. I can get both of you banned from every decent restaurant in this city. Her job at the museum? I can make that disappear too. So next time you decide to push your weight around, consider what the consequences can be. People like you may control the streets, but money still rules this city. Not that you would know anything about that." He barked.

While physical punches weren't being thrown, the intensity of the conversation was certainly picking up. There was a slight reprieve though when a cough echoed in the doorway, and Mrs. Summers stepped forward. Mr. Summers nodded to his wife and she turned her empty gaze to Gawain.
"Listen young...man... I'd rather not have punches thrown in my foyer. The stains are terrible to clean up. So lets just clean up where we stand. Evelyn is different. But I think you've spent far too much time convincing her she is different like the rest of you mutants. We've had her tested on a number of occasions. Her abilities are unusual, but nothing beyond what the average genetics can explain. She is smart. She's not a super hero and she does not need to keep gallivanting around pretending to be one. If you wanted to help her, stop filling her head with these ideas that she can be something she isn't." Mrs. Summers insisted.
Mr. Summers picked up where she stopped. "With time perhaps Evelyn could earn back her place in this family. But it wouldn't be while you're in the picture." He snapped.

Mr. Summers' mouth twitched slightly and he didn't take the offered hand. While he looked irritated before, the expression now was one with a different type of distaste. "Ah. The gender shifter. While I recognize you from the wedding, as I stated, I have no daughter. If I did, she wouldn't be dating the likes of you." The man was clearly biting his tongue to avoid throwing in additional comments. It didn't take a mind reader to see what he thought of Mirror.
"So you think since you've somehow twisted her into one of you freaks you can just come here and negotiate on her behalf? Evelyn was never perfect, but prancing around with you test tube rejects has brought nothing but problems to my family. We won't even bring up your own...condition." He spat. He wagged a finger at Mirror and hissed. "If you really wanted to help her, you'd get out of the picture. You're doing no one any favors by worsening her appearance. I don't need her associated with your circus act."

Once Gawain reached the Summers floor, he was quickly created by one of the household staff members. Directed into the foyer of the flat, a stern faced Mr. Summers stood waiting. The room would look a bit familiar now, considering Evelyn and Mirror had a recent booze jacking adventure in the home. Although, the parental figure glaring back was a bit new.
"You look familiar." Was the first phrase that drifted out of the man's mouth. He sized up Gawain, trying to pinpoint where he recognized the mirrorwalker from. Obviously, he hadn't quite remembered/connected Maya "gender-shifting girlfriend" to Gawain who was standing here now.
There was a dramatic pause on the other end of the line. Some faint talking and a rather sarcastic laugh that drifted through the speaker. Almost as if some private mocking was taking place. Maybe it was. Hard to tell through speaker static. The guard seemed torn between acting bored and trying to listen in. You could almost see him mentally munching popcorn as the whole thing commenced. The lady at the counter kept pausing unnecessarily to shuffle papers closer to the speaker. Drama was all they really had to entertain them anyway. Finally, a gruff voice answered Gawain's request.
"If you try any funny business, you're going to have more to worry about than some family tension." The man responded. ON cue, the guard gabbed a thumb at the elevator.
"Your call. Can still leave while you have the chance." He murmured with a knowing glance. At least it wasn't close to midnight yet. That eliminated some risk...for now.

The guard didn't do anything to stop Gawain from talking, although he stood there and looked gruff, ready to stop the teen from going any further inside. On the other end of the speaker, there was a scoff, and there was a silence that could have been filled by an eye roll if there was visual.
"You're wasting your breathe. I should have washed my hands of freaks like her years ago. And if you're like her, you can go disappear as well."
It was a polite way of saying get lost. Well, sort of polite. The guard she shrugged his shoulders again.
"I wouldn't push my luck if i were you." Rich people, security. Cops could be called. There was an unspoken warning not to mess with someone stuck in their ways.

One of the benefits of being rich was you got to have other people deal with your problems. Door greeters kept out unwanted guests, so did other building security, and when all else failed, there was personal security. After years of dealing with nosy neighbors and other undesirables, the Summers were well prepared keeping out the riff raff. Although, the door guard was pretty certain this was one of the first times they tried showing up in a suit.
Giving Gawain a distasteful look, the guard buzzed to the flat of the wealthy residents. "Some punk kid is here to say you. Says he's a friend of your daughter's?"
There was a pause, then a gruff buzz from the other side of the speaker. "What daughter?"
The guard gave Gawain and knowing look and crossed his arms. Access denied.

Evelyn paused at the door as her head cleared, letting the echoes analyze the situation. Of course there would be a guard in the room. Nothing could ever just be easy with the x-men, right? Although she had to wonder how Sveta fit into this situation. If she was hanging out with Sam and Mirror, she probably was less towards the goodie-goodie side of things. Vigilante? That seemed more likely as she took the gun and burst into the room.
The x-men were never lucky it seemed. There was the immediate sounds of a scuffle and Evelyn pulled out her sai. Follow when the coast is clear...
To hell with that.
The nice thing about having a throwing weapon was the ability to, well, throw them. With a quick toss, and some guidance from the echoes, the metal weapon flew threw the air and knocked the guard across the head. The grazing hit ensured no long term damage (hopefully), but the man dropped at a rate that she couldn't guarantee no temporary injuries. In the corner, the captive man seemed torn between relieved and suspicious. It probably wasn't common to be rescued by girls in format attire.
Especially wielding guns and sai...
"So, headache medicine, yes?" Evelyn remarked, grabbing her weapon and motioning towards the door.

To Evelyn's relief, Sveta managed to handle the rest of the whole take down the guards situation. Rubbing her head and grimacing, she tried to clear her thoughts. New playback, new playback...sobriety pleaseeeee. She thought. Finally she filtered out of the memory and stood up wishing she had something to wash her mouth out with. "There's the whole sort of 'can't forget anything' piece of my power that tends to make things...a bit too realistic. I just picked the wrong drunk memory." Evelyn grimaced. She wasn't sure the other girl would understand, and she wasn't sure she wanted to waste time explaining. She fished for key cards from the men and motioned down the hall.
"Let's just try to get this done. I'd kill for some headache medicine right now..." She put a few paces between her and Sveta. As intense as the last playback was, she didn't want to see power intensified memories.
(ooc: can add to this if needed. Haven't caught either of you online to see where exactly I'm going now >.>))

Evelyn did her best to adjust her own attire, which was difficult while trying not to expose too much skin. The last thing she wanted was to discover what power boosting did to the echoes. She left the jacket open and mentally searched for playbacks of being drunk. Hopefully she could behave realistically when she was mentally feeling tipsy. While the memories were a bit unhappy, she focused on the mission instead. She felt a slight rush of panic when Sveta took her arm, but did feel much different, so the thin jacket may have been working for the moment. She walked with Sveta and squinted, stomach tipping from tipsy to queasy at moments.
"You ladies need to get back upstairs. This area is off limits." One of the guards was instructing. Evelyn tilted realistically. At this point, she wasn't sure how much of it was acting. The playbacks were awefully strong, and her whole head felt like it was hammering.
"I don't feel so great. Is there a bathroom nearby? The whole room is all....tilty." She clung to the guys arm and the echoes picked up on his panic. One of the guards seemed like he was about to drag her off, but the other seemed genuinely worried. Protect the captives, keep party guests safe and oblivious. Having a job like this must suck.
The echoes seemed a little louder than normal too... One of the men reached out and caught her wrist. She flinched even before he made skin contact. He let out a groan of pain and reached for his head, quickly stepping backwards. Instant hangover via memory transfer...She always wanted offensive powers but that felt a little cruel. There was some yelling among-st the guards, but she wasn't quite sure what was happening because at that point...she threw up all over the first guys shoes.
So I just don't have as much time as I used to to lurk around the cbox and catch everyone. If you're waiting on me to post, or have questions about a plot, PMs are going to be easiest right now. Just been a little crazier than expected with the new job and trying to sort out life stuff @.@ Miss you all though!
