The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The echoes didn't pick up on the sound of footsteps hurrying towards the room. They didn't pick up on the person entering. She did hear the voice which finally caused her to turn, but she was still screaming. And when she saw the person, she screamed more.
Who...was wearing...her body?!
"Mirror!!!" She screeched in panic, backing into the wall. The blood from her tongue had dribbled from her mouth and was snaking around her protectively. Which only freaked her out more. She swatted at the liquid and flailed, backing into a dresser. A lamp wobbled and threatened to fall. Gawain was yesterday, so if it was morning then she should be with... "Maya?!!" Where was Maya? Where was the room and why was she standing there and screaming here and
where were the ECHOES?!!!
There were no voices, there were no voices to tell her what was happening and where she was and why there was bloooooodddd floooating.
She's seen this before... she just needed to think and not panic and....

Life had been pretty calm at the mansion...for once. The city was mostly at peace, the x-men were doing the normal hero stuff, but nothing terribly life threatening. In fact, other than that whole parents trying to assassinate Mirror problem, thing felt almost, normal. After a night out on the town, Evelyn and Gawain had returned to the mansion and enjoyed some much needed alone time.
Alone without the dogs and the foxsquirrels and roommates at least. Hard to really be "alone" in a mansion that also housed a bunch of kids. Very quiet alone time... Oh well, the cuddling was nice. And for once, Evelyn fell asleep before some forsaken early morning hour.
And then...then things got....weird.
The first thing Evelyn registered was a sensation of silence. There was something jabbing into her face, a faint bit of moisture on the corner of her mouth, and an imprint of squares on her cheek as she lifted her head from what felt oddly like a keyboard. Which was odd, because Evelyn didn't sleep at a computer. Ever. If she did, she would have remembered it. Because she remembered everything. Except for why there was a keyboard. And she was pretty sure she hadn't been drinking last night which was the only other really good excuse she had for memory loss, what with the perfect memory thing.
She squinted. The room was dark, that was definitely a keyboard, and her face her. She whipped a sliver of drool from her cheek and squinted again.
She didn't remember leaving Mirror. Or going back to her room. Or sitting down or...anything. She also, couldn't remember the echoes ever feeling this silent.
Silence.
Why the heck was it so quiet?
Slowly standing, Evelyn felt something lightweight fall across her. They looked like pajamas, but they didn't look like...her pajamas. Those also didn't look like her legs. She had a pretty good memory about her legs, and that memory and these legs did not add up. She staggered backwards, tripped over a chair she didn't remember, and there was a loud crash and swearing as she slammed into a bed. She bit her tongue in the process, and tasted blood (well, at least that sort of tasted right), but the hair in her face didn't seem right either.
Bloody....hell...
Crawling in a daze across the ground, the information felt unusually slow as she tried to put it together. Waking up. Strange room. Quiet. Everything wrong. Quiet quiet quiet quiet... She found herself in front of a mirror, and the silence was deafening as she stared at a reflection of .........Serena?
She was pretty sure that was when the screaming started. And then her body was gone, and there was blood, and panic.

Evelyn just shrugged. "Honestly I think most powers can be pretty dangerous if used wrong. That's why the danger room can be nice. You can learn better control without just restricting yourself out of worries you're going to hurt the people around you. And having more of a threat of consequences can also be a good motivator....Sorry, not sure how much I'm helping." Evelyn shifted from foot to foot. She still managed to reveal her socially awkward nature from time to time. The echoes babbled on in her head, but she managed to shut her mouth.
"So, training. We're trying that. Program preference?"

"I'm sorry your Christmas turned out this way."
Evelyn opened her mouth to say something witty, but the words sort of tangled in her throat. A rush of memories came forward at the word Christmas. Like a trigger, she drifted through countless years of wasted waiting. It wasn't like she was hoping for presents or something (the financial standing of her parents meant having a spoiled kid was somewhat of a given), but maybe for that magical feeling others seemed to have. Togetherness. Family time. That magical warmth that was missing. Mirror and her had a great Christmas last year, and yeah, this year that sort of blew up in her girlfriend's face. But she did wish it could have worked.
Sorry your Christmas turned out this way.
"Maybe I'm just sorry that I'm not surprised..." She sighed and moved to sit on the bed. There was no time to mope though. They still had an assassination to stop.

The Cbox has spoken: let there be a body swap!
The Plot
There is some unfortunate mutant in MRO land with the powers to temporarily swap mutants minds. Unfortunate mutant meets Sveta...well, you can guess the rest.
The Swap
For exactly 10 days (IC, actual posting can take place beyond that window), mutants all over MRO will experience a body swap. Emotions, personality, thoughts belonging to one character will all be downloaded into someone else. The swap will be conducted by member trade, sign ups will commence in this thread. Chaos will commence elsewhere.
Basic Instructions/FAQ
1) A character is restricted by the powers/limitations of the original characters profile.
2) All powers stay with the characters body. (ex: Evelyn's echoes, while mental based, will travel with her body in the swap)
3) Small shenanigans can be executed at members whim. For any large escapades (general "destruction of the whole city, moving of the Statue of Liberty") should be brought to the thread for other members notice, consultation, approval.
4) For extra ideas, plottyness, swapping, post here!
5) Characters don't need to be nearby for swaps to happen. Swaps are 'random', within the large New York zone.
Current Swaps: Serena <----> Evelyn Orochi <----> Tses Enders <----> Mahadevi Sveta <----> Giants Bane Danny <----> Mirror Allison <----> Cold Steel

Evelyn thought she was feeling okay, and her head cleared a lot through mirror travel. Or maybe it was just getting away from Sveta. The mirror's themselves really never did help the echoes. They had a nasty habit of turning and analyzing her in a way that felt petty. Not that the echoes really had thoughts or feelings, but it always seemed so...personal. She shook it off as she stood in the new room, letting herself take in her surroundings. The liquid Serge handed to her made her stomach turn all over again.
"I think I've had enough hangovers for one day...thanks." She remarked, not so casually shoving the glass into Gawain's hand instead. Following the echoes, she found a bottle of water. At least it cleaned her throat a little. The lingering burn of bile still clung to her mouth. Knowing Sam, there were breath mints or something around here. She let the echoes deduce that as well. She glanced at Sam and shrugged.
"Let's just say, the playbacks make being tipsy a bit too realistic..." She remarked. Hydration, check. Breath mints, check. Now, to just get home.

Evelyn tried to clear her head as Sam and Gawain reappeared. But the echoes were still being awfully vocal, and it didn't help they noted the lingering smell of women's perfume around the two guys as they reappeared. She wasn't the jealous type. Nope. Not going to be the jealous type. But her hand still twitched slightly as the echoes carried on about it.
Mission. All for the mission you dumb voices. She thought to herself. Like it ever helped talking to herself.
She was going to be insane by 40, she just knew it.
"Hope you two didn't enjoy yourself too much." Evelyn noted. Headache medicine, mouthwash... They certainly seemed to have had a better time than her. She wasn't going to explain the whole getting sick thing though. Dumb echoes. Dumb dumb echoes. She tugged at her jacket, realizing this would have been a good time to get the gloves out. Little late to stop the escape though to grab them. Mirror could handle the echoes anyway. Well, normal echoes. They did seem...louder.

Not Sam, not Sam and her psycho parents and her girlfriend/boyfriend and their parent all at the same time. This was not the way she was planting on spending Christmas, even without the threat of death and killing and all that!
Ruining reputations though.... She could handle that.
"It would certainly knock them off their high horses. They currently seem to feel they're untouchable... Maybe it's time to prove that they aren't." Maybe it was a little evil, but they had to do something right?
"Although, maybe this isn't the best place to you know, try to plot this out." She glanced around the room, suddenly considering the younger mansion students. And the holiday... Jillian wasn't the sort of intruder they would be hoping for. And no presents.

"Do you have any suggestions about how they could be... persuaded to call off the hit?"
"Well, since you ruled out the mauling....I'm sorry, I just... They've been a problem I've spent most of my life trying to solve. They aren't usually trying to you know, kill anyone I'm kind of fond of, but their levels of extremes are pretty, well, extreme. They sort of expect to get their way. Always seems to work for them." She crossed her arms this time. She hated admitting how powerless they made her feel. She was the one with the super intelligence thing going for her and yet, they always outsmarted her. Or, maybe it was just financially overthrew her.
Financially...
"Unless...You don't know anyone who could like, lock up their finances, do you?" It was a faint possibility. An option, and idea, but it was something.

Evelyn blinked at Serena, then shrugged slightly. "I guess I know a bit. Perfect memory sort of helps with the fast learning thing. I guess it depends on what sort of self defense we're working on. Basic hand to hand I have picked up on pretty well. But my powers aren't exactly, you know, something that'll put me on the dangerous mutants list or something. Against other mutants, I think I'm still sort of at square one." It sounded like an okay answer. Honest at least.
"Training with everyone at the mansion is helping though. As creative as the danger room is, real humans seem to be better for the echoes." Annnddd now she sounded like a freak again.

"Bad for business if the buyer ends up dead."
Evelyn grumbled. "Maybe just a light mauling?" She muttered under her breathe. But those feelings soon settled too. She just felt the disappointment simmering. "I didn't say it was the best solution," She added, raising her voice back to normal volume. "I just.... It's not like, the first time they did something a bit extreme. Yeah, killing someone is a bit far even for them, but ruining peoples lives seems to be pretty ingrained in their systems. You don't need someone dead to ...punish them." Her pulse was picking up pace again, threatening to pull up unwanted memories. As much control as she'd gained over her powers, being emotion could set her back to square one.
"If you think rolling over and playing...dead...is uh, going to help, that's probably not the best solution either." This conversation was messed up in so many ways...

Mutant, half-lesbian...nose... Evelyn's mind rattled with the possibilities. All of the above? Was there a check-box for that? Her parents were rich bigots? Was there one for that? She groaned and rubbed her eyes. Suddenly she felt very very tired. Plan....
"I don't suppose you can just...assassinate them instead, can you?" She remarked with a rueful grimace. She was tired of this game. While she was no longer a doting daughter, there were lines being drawn in the sand. They crossed boundaries, oh they were testing their limits with her. Evelyn was stuck somewhere between mortified, pissed off, and horrified.
[Frustration, confusion, disbelief.]
Checkbox: all of the above. She was feeling all of the above.

This was messed up. This was so messed up. Maybe they just didn't think it through all the way. Hire an assassin out of spite... Right? No...Yes? It was so ridiculous. Who hires an assassin?
Well, her and Mirror did, but that was for... And they used... "Oh hell....the credit card..." She whispered. Her head thunked against the wall behind her. This was totally her fault then. Mirror could have gotten killed...
"So what happens now? Obviously, no one is dead...I don't think hits just like...vanish on a whim." She tried to think. She inched further away from Jillian just to be on the safe side. The echoes were rattling in her head at a rate even she felt dizzy by. Connecting dots, trying to find solutions, analyzing the situation...Overload.

...you already know the answer.
Evelyn's heart sank. While a small corner of her brain was already considering the possibility, it felt too unthinkable to linger on. Her parents were terrible, but this was...would they? She shook her head from side to side, as if that could stop the echoes from chiming the answer. Parents parents parents parents.
"How would they even..." She already knew that answer too. She leaned against the wall, careful not to touch anyone as she did. With the volume her powers were yelling right now, she felt like the force of the thoughts in anyone's head would be an unwelcomed intrusion.
