The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

(OOC: Don't forget everyone, there are still a few Shadow Stalkers skulking around inside the camp walls, and cloaked. Not everyone will run into them, but a couple should. Remember, if you're an inmate, you'll likely need help from one of the Resistance members to take them on.
I'll delete this after another few posts.

HISTORY - With parents who were leaders of a Thailand-based, multinational, super-powered crime syndicate, Virote Srisai natural went into the family business at an early age. Able to levitate at age 12, and explode and reform at age 15, his parents saw a valuable asset in their son. Their expectations to promote their own x-genes seemed well underway, and to further their plans, they betrothed their son to another young mutant in the syndicate.
Virote had a temper, and found the Registration Act, to put it lightly, distasteful. However, in an effort to prove he could think and act rationally, he traveled to America and willingly Registered. A bit of a scuffle at the office ended with him being sent to the camp with other 'dangerous' mutant. He wasn't their long, though, thanks to a late night escape with another mutant.
After a short reign of Revenge-fueled terror, Shrapnel visits a medium, and connects with one of his victims, which touches him much deeper than he expected. Now he is on the path to redemption, as his new name claims. It won't be easy, but he is determined, nonetheless.
POWERS - Shrapnel/Redemption is able to fly at the speed of sound by means of thermonuclear propulsion. By the same means he is also able to detonate his body, and then reform, though such an act takes time to charge and results in nonexistance for a short time. Very handy powers for the son of a power crime syndicate; not so much for someone looking to redeem himself.
POSTS TO SEE:
Origins of Shrapnel -- Just like every hero has his beginning, so every villain has theirs. So what about someone who had been both? Read on to find out.
Bringing Work Home (Rated R for Violence) -- Extended time in the Registration Camps makes for a grumpy Shrapnel. After a rather explosive escape, Shrapnel teams up Cyra and Jason to exact a little revenge on humanity, starting with several of the camp guards and their families. Innocence is an unknown thought.
Tranquil Fury -- Shrapnel has been enlightened, and now seeks to redeem himself for the pain and suffering he has caused. Who better to go to than a strange gypsy woman, who's first request is for you to undress on her front lawn? Remember, 'strange' is the key word here. No one said she didn't know what she was doing. Sporting a new haircut, a new set of snazzy tatoos, and a new take on life, Redemption leaves his old name and life behind.
Keep checking Redemption's profile to see his progression from evil to good. It's sure to be da bomb!
We also had a last minute (literally, more like last second, lol) entry for FEVER[/color]. Because the poll was made first, his name hasn't been included in the voting options. If you would like to vote for him, please post your vote instead, and ONLY ONCE. lol Any excess votes (not including 'advertisements' and/or chit chat) will be deleted, so we stay neat an tidy.
Just curious: What do you mean by 'training'? Considering the background of the camps, and what their purpose is, it doesn't make much sense for guards to 'train' the inmates in any form of combat. That would defeat the purpose. Even the session between Grit and Shield seems like it should be kept away from prying eyes, otherwise the pair would be in trouble from Camp Higher-ups. Exercise sessions though might make more sense as a cover.
Just my two cents.

HISTORY - Born in the wilds of the Northwest and raised as an Inuit chanter, Raina often found her tribe's rituals outdated and mostly useless. However, she was very close to her family and community, and thus learned diligently the history of past warriors. When her mutation made itself know at age 16, she had very little control of it, and the tribe elders found themselves at a loss for what to do. Eventually Raina found herself cast out, forbidden to return until she learned control. Five years of searching later, and with a bit more control, Raina found herself at the doors of Xavier's Institute for Gifted Youngsters. Much has happened since then, including a very complicated relationship with an emotionally complex NYPD officer named Rupert, and a trip to the the Mutant Registration Camps.
POWERS - Raina's singing voice can coax the water out of the air, freezing it into ice. She has also recently found that, should she get wet, her legs merge into a scaly blue fish tail. Who said mermaids don't exist? For further details and tidbits, take a peek at her character profile.
