The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Regan sighed at Ty’s words. It was like he had to convince himself that it was the truth and it broke her heart to see someone having to convince themselves that in the end love would come out on top and change a person. “Well I wish you luck with that. She’s a handful to say the least. You must have the patience of a saint Ty.”
“Don’t apologize for her Ty. It’s not your fault that she attacked me. She’s just lucky that I am a better person and have no desire to kill people. She came close to being my first murder though.” She wasn’t sure if she should have said that, but she was an honest person. Ty obviously knew what Tses was capable of; he knew what she was like. She hoped he wouldn’t hate her for wanting to kill his girlfriend, but she did back off and drop it. The scratch she had gotten on her neck was self-infected after all.
Giving Jacob a soft smile and a nod at his words, Regan remained silent. She appreciated all that Jacob was doing, including just giving her an ear if she needed to talk to someone. He was going to be a pretty good boss. Just then Regan’s ears flicked back as the sounds of a new vehicle approached. Jacob was quite happy that lunch had arrived, and frankly so was she, she was starving!
As Jacob told her about the lunch variety her mouth started to water, he then offered to get her something else if she didn’t like what was available. “Oh it’s fine, I can eat everything. One of the few human traits I do have and am I ever thankful for that! I would be quite disappointed if I had to give up all the delicious flavors of the world.” She giggled and got up to stretch her arms over her head. “I appreciate the offer though. But I’ll eat anything really; there are very few things that I don’t like.”
“Why are you being critical at all? I don’t understand what the big deal is. I didn’t ask you to dissect me and figure me out.” She sighed and just shook her head. What was she supposed to do or say at this point? Regan wasn’t a rude person, but she didn’t like feeling like a lab rat under this woman’s microscope. Regan was taught to be polite to everyone she encountered, no matter what the person was doing or saying. But she was also taught to stand up for herself if she was feeling like someone was bullying her. This felt like the latter.
“How could I have a better chance than you? You look like a human, you can walk among the world without fear and judgment. You can work a normal job without anyone even knowing you are a mutant. You have way more opportunities than I do. I think you are a little out of it from being launched off a couch. Did you hit your head?” She didn’t understand this woman’s logic. She had so many more chances to lead a normal life than Regan did. No matter what Regan would always be stared at and judged.
By this point, Regan had gotten a decent idea of how this woman worked. So when she apologized, Regan gave a slight nod of acceptance. It may have been halfhearted but she had at least said it. “I am satisfied with my garden and I am also satisfied with my second job working at Jacob’s shop. I am fairly content with my life, other than the things I cannot control or change, like my mutation and all of its side effects.” She made a point of noting that her mutation was something she could not change, hoping that the message got across to drop the subject of her mutation all together.
Regan nodded at Amber’s words. She hoped that one day she could control the mind of the beast when she shifted. There had been so many times where she wished she could rein in the saber tooth and have it listen to her, like when she ended up attacking poor Clyde. “Perhaps one day I will be able to control the beast, I can only hope. But until then I take all the precautions I can to ensure everyone’s safety.”
Hearing Amber’s chirp, Regan turned to face the dinosaur that Amber had become. It was the same form she had been when they first met each other in the woods. Regan walked over to where Amber was standing, her robes on the floor next to her. She took off her hoodie and placed it over Amber’s robes. She looked up at Amber to explain why she had done that. “I’m mingling my scent with yours, it might help ease the saber tooth’s mind, so it knows you are not a threat.” The saber tooth used scent a lot to make connections, Regan hoped that the scent mingle would help with the connection that Amber was a friend and not a foe.
Stepping to the other side of the grove to give herself and Amber plenty of room to help ease the tension once she shifted, Regan took a deep breath. “Here we go.” She took off her combat boots and dropped down to all fours to prepare for the shift. She closed her emerald eyes and called forth her saber tooth, which was all too eager to come out and play. A low growl escaped her lips as her bones started to pop and snap, readjusting for her new posture. Her muscles started to bulk up under her fur and she grew slightly in size. Finally she let out a savage and pained roar as her long saber tooth fangs extended from under her upper lip. Her eyes snapped open and the saber tooth looked around trying to focus on the new surroundings, not noticing the predator that was standing on the other side of the grove.
Regan frowned at the words coming from Ty’s mouth, it just broke her heart. Without any warning she just reached out and hugged him. It was one of those tight, warm hugs that you just need from a friend every once in a while. “I doubt it’s all your fault Ty. As sweet as she has been, you know full well what she was like before. For all you know she did what I warned her she’d do one day. Mouthed off the wrong person and got her butt kicked.” She let Ty go and took a step back looking over her shoulder at Tses’s sleeping form.
She sighed and crossed her arms. “I’m not sure what else to do Ty. I’m at a loss and feeling useless.” She said staring at Tses with pure concern in her face.
“Well I sure hope you are right about that Ty. I would hate to have to see you in the obituaries because you tried to kiss her one times too many times.” She frowned at that thought and just shook her head. “I tried to help her, she insulted me, I told her she was rude and judgmental and walked away from the situation. Her response was to throw explosions at me.” She sighed softly as she had to tell the rest of the truth, it was only right. “I then slammed her into a tree and threatened to kill her. Sad thing was that she actually wanted me to do it!”
Regan didn’t know what else to say at this point, she had hoped that Ty would be alright. Tses was such a mean person compared to Ty; she wondered how on earth the two had gotten together in the first place. They were such very different people from what Regan knew of them. The pairing just didn’t make any sense to her.
Regan nodded at Amber’s comment, they were indeed both creatures from the past, though Regan’s saber tooth was still somewhat humanoid looking, but the mind was feral. She hoped that everything would go well for the pair, they seemed to get along well as themselves, but that nervous flutter returned in her stomach as she thought about what might go wrong.
Her thoughts were interrupted by Amber’s words and she couldn’t help but tilt her head to the side with a quizzical look on her feline face. Amber envied her? “You may envy me, but I envy you. I wish I could be of my own mind while I was shifted. Instead I get to sit back and watch a blurred foreign movie with no subtitles and no real understanding of what is going on.” She sighed and put on a half-smile. “Every mutation seems to have a disadvantage of some sort, some worse than others. Losing control of my mind and body is quite the disadvantage for me. My saber tooth doesn’t have a conscious, she does what comes naturally to her and I have to live with the consequences when I shift back.”
Giving Amber another nod to her statement and question, Regan gave a small smile. “I appreciate that, I really don’t want to hurt you. I think it would be safest for you to shift first. My saber tooth would see you as prey as a human, but think twice before attacking another predator right off the get go. It will also give you some protection if she does decide to attack. I’ll turn my back so you can shift, I know how it feels to have people watching you, it can be uncomfortable.” With that said, Regan turned around and waited for the tell-tale sounds of Amber’s shift.
“Well I think you are doing quite well with me. I don’t usually invoke the kindness in people, so consider your kindness a job well done!” She smiled a fanged grin and bounced a little as her tail curled up behind her. She liked making people feel good about themselves, especially when they deserved it. “It’s great that you found each other though. I’m sure it feels better to not feel as alone in the world.”
Listening intently as Ty opened up about his relationship, Regan was silent. Well she was silent until she heard the name of his girlfriend that is. “Did you just say Tses?” She felt her face pale slightly, though again it wasn’t seen under that thick fur, and her curled tail dropped to the ground. “Are you sane?” She didn’t mean to be rude, but that girl was crazy! “She attacked me you know, and really for no reason. She has quite a temper on her. I’m surprised you are still in one piece trying to get that close to her!” She shuddered at the thought of those explosive orbs popping around her body as it came to replay in her mind.
Smiling back at Amber with a wide fanged grin, Regan stepped a little closer. The woman was just as glad to see her as she was to see Amber. The smile quickly faded as Amber asked how Regan would react in the presence of prey and blood. She knew she was going to have to tell Amber the truth and all of it before they started their hunt, it was only fair. She considered Amber a new friend so she was going to be honest, even if it was something she feared would ruin their friendship.
Taking in a deep breath she started to speak. “Well as I am now, prey and blood don’t overly faze me, but I won’t be hunting like this. I have another form. I look relatively the same, but I am a saber tooth. I become completely feral and primal in that mindset and I can’t speak to you. At that point prey and blood are the fuel that drives me. I can’t guarantee what will happen when I shift, but if things go badly I give you full permission to kill me Amber. I don’t want to hurt you, but I can’t control the beast. Please save yourself if things go sour.” She looked at Amber with serious eyes. She meant every word, even the words to kill her.
“I would ask if there is anything I need to know, but my saber tooth won’t know it until she experiences it herself. We are like two different creatures in the same body. My senses and abilities are even stronger in that state than they are now. Hopefully we will get along.” She sighed again and wondered if Amber would not want to do this anymore, she would understand if she didn’t. “Well if everything is ok for the hunt, I’ll let you shift first so you can protect yourself when I shift.” It was the least she could do.
Regan headed back out into the foyer where she saw Tses finally sleeping soundly. The medication had kicked in and allowed her some pain free rest. Regan quietly placed her back pack on the floor and sat down next to it with her legs crossed under her. She watched Tses closely and saw the peace on her face for the first time, well ever. She sighed and hoped that Ty would be able to help.
Just then Ty walked in the front door and said hello, speak of the devil. Regan motioned to him to keep his voice down as to not wake Tses. She got up off of the floor and pulled Ty over to the other side of the large foyer. “It’s pretty bad. She can’t remember anything. She’s been friendly, bubbly, and generally very giggly. She’s like a completely different person. She’s washed up and borrowed some of my clothes, as well as had something to eat and her medication. I finally got her to rest but I don’t think there is anything more I can really do for her here.” She sighed and looked over her shoulder at Tses still sleeping on the sofa. She was clearly concerned about Tses even after all the hate that Tses had thrown at her back in the woods. She just wanted Tses to get better.
Regan’s face would have been red with a blush if it weren’t for all the fur that covered it. She tried to act like everything was fine, but she was getting bashful again. “Thanks Ty, you sure are kind, just like your sister.” She smiled softly and nodded about the aspirin comment. “Well that’s good, still slightly unfortunate though. Sure seems that every mutation has some sort of downfall doesn’t it?”
Once again a small frown crossed over Regan’s maw, she hated seeing anyone suffer with things in life, no matter who they were. “I know the feeling, my life hasn’t been all sunshine and roses either.” A small smile formed as Ty complimented her once again. “Aww well thanks Ty! I’m glad she has a great brother like you to lean on. I wish I had some family I could look to, but I manage well enough on my own I suppose.”
She smiled and decided that a slight subject change was in order. “So what was this about a volatile relationship? That is if you want to talk about it.”
Regan looked at the blond in utter shock. The words coming out of her overwhelming and even though the woman claimed not to be trying to offend her, she was. Regan had come to the mansion to get away from the judgment of the world, and here this woman was doing it. How did she ever get accepted into the mansion? “First off lady, you are being offensive! Secondly if you took the time to actually listen to the words coming out of my mouth, you would have heard that I am the gardener here at the mansion. How many cats do you know who can garden? And thirdly, I never had any pets growing up so I wouldn’t have some connection with what cats do other than what’s in my DNA! I am who I am and I would really appreciate it if you would stop judging me!” Regan’s arms crossed and she frowned at the woman. This woman had managed to make her feel worse about her mutation in the matter of minutes.
“You mean like you are doing to me right now?” Regan snapped. “You took the simple fact that I enjoy taking naps from time to time and turned it all around so that you now only view me as a cat! I happen to be quite intelligent but you seem to think I’m just some dumb beast like everyone else out there don’t you? Instead you should have taken the time to actually get to know me.” Her own words trailed off as she spoke, clearly hurt by the woman’s words. She looked into the woman’s blue eyes with her own green ones. “I even have a name, but it’s not like you’d even care to know it, I’m just a dumb cat to you aren’t I?”
Regan had decided to take a cab out to the woods where she was planning on meeting up with her new friend Amber for a long overdue hunt. The lady at the admonitions desk in the mansion had given her the personal number of a cabby that didn’t mind driving mutants. Still a little paranoid about it, Regan put on her black hoodie and covered her head as much as possible so that the cab driver wouldn’t be too afraid of her. The drive wasn’t too long but it was a little ways and the silence had been rather awkward, so when they arrived at the edge of the woods, Regan gave the cabby an extra ten dollars for his help.
Getting out of the cab, she stretched her arms above her head before leaning back in the door of the cab. “Thanks a lot for the help. I’ll call you if I need a ride back home.” The cabby nodded and gave her a genuine smile. He was a decent guy after all. With that she closed the door and the cab drove off into the night and she took in a deep breath before making her way into the wood, towards the grove where she had agreed to meet up with Amber.
Her eyes adapted quickly to the dark of the woods and she clearly found her way to the grove. She pulled off her hood and smiled as she spotted Amber’s form sitting in the grove waiting. A small flutter wiggled through her stomach. Regan was a little nervous about this. She had never hunted with someone else before and she had no idea how it would go. The saber tooth liked her space and her catches to herself, but maybe this would be good for her. She just hoped that she wouldn’t hurt Amber in the process.
Pushing her fears to the side for now, Regan came forward into the grove. “Hey Amber, glad to see you decided to come.” She smiled softly and moved closer so they weren’t standing at an awkward distance.
Watching to make sure Tses was able to take her medications, Regan sighed softly, the poor girl was a mess, there had to be something that she could do more for her. After Tses finished taking her pills, Regan took the bottle and the glass of water from her. She put the pills on the counter for the moment and went to place the glass in the sink as Tses told her she moved quickly. She chuckled softly. “Well I guess that’s one good thing about being a cat.”
By the time Regan turned around Tses was falling asleep in her chair. With a soft sigh she walked over to Tses and scooped her up in her arms. Tses wasn’t much smaller than Regan, but Regan was strong so it didn’t take much for her to carry Tses out of the kitchen and to the front foyer where she placed her on one of the sofas with a throw pillow under her head. “Have a snooze Tses, I’ll be right back, just going to get your things ok.” She wasn’t sure if Tses heard her, but she figured she’d better tell the girl where she was going in case she woke up and panicked.
Getting back to the kitchen, Regan grabbed the pill bottle and went to place it back into the trash bag in her back pack. As she opened the bag she spotted a cell phone. She pulled it out and as much she didn’t want to invade Tses’s privacy, she needed to find someone that could care for Tses the way she needed.
Pulling out the small phone, she managed to carefully use her claws to access the contacts list. There weren’t many people in it, but one name popped out to her, ‘Ty’. Regan pulled out her own specially made phone that Jacob had made for her and dialed the number that was listed for Ty.
“Hello Ty? This is Regan, how are you? I’m well thanks for asking. Umm I’m calling to ask you a favor, you might not like it though. Well you see, Tses showed up on the front lawn of the mansion this afternoon. No, no, she didn’t start any trouble. She seems to have a case of amnesia. I don’t know how she got it, she’s just all beat up, looks like she has a broken arm too. She can’t remember anything, she even likes me! Yeah I know it’s strange, but anyways, since you know her the best I was wondering if you could come and get her. You will? Oh thank you Ty! I would keep her here but she needs to get back on her feet so she can get her mind back, maybe being around you and back in her own home will help. Ok thanks, just come to the front door, she’s sleeping on a sofa in the foyer right now. See you soon Ty.”
Regan hung up the phone and put her phone back in her pocket, she then placed Tses’s phone back in the trash bag and slung her back pack over her shoulder to head back out to check on Tses. Regan would clean up the kitchen later. If anyone was upset about the mess, she was sure they would understand once she explained what had happened.
Regan blinked in pure surprise as Rebecca shook her head rather forcefully at Regan’s comment and made sure to point out what she saw in Regan. She gave Rebecca a half smile and shrugged again as she scuffed her boot on the floor of the green house a few times. “I’m nothing special Rebecca. Besides I doubt anyone would even be interested in me, even the lizard boy.” She gave a half chuckle and tried to make light of her situation. Some days that was the only way she managed getting through the day as the children of the mansion would avoid her out of fear, or make fun of her when her back was turned. They may not know it, but she could still hear their whispers clearly, the joys of feline hearing.
Without much notice Rebecca wrapped her arms around Regan and gave her a warm hug. She sighed and gently hugged Rebecca back, patting her back softly. Rebecca then gave her a polite scolding to not talk like that, and she smiled slightly. She appreciated the effort a lot, but that was just the way that Regan coped with things. Getting her hopes up usually ended up in her getting hurt, it was easier just to give up that hope and be mildly content with her life then to get excited about a prospect that just didn’t seem possible in her mind. “I’ll try not to talk like that anymore, but I can’t promise that I won’t slip up sometimes.”
