The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Serena didn't have time to think. She stood up and looked around her. A few other people were bleeding, nothing serious, but due to the amount of people around the commotion, she had plenty to work with.
She stood. The girl would probably hiccup again soon, causing another explosion. More injuries would occur. Serena couldn't let that happen. She tore out the shard of wood and allowed more blood to flow. She saw a few students activate defensive looking mutations, and some took cover.
However there were several younger mutants who hadn't taken cover and were not protected. Serena was vaugely aware of something covering the hiccup'ers face, however she had other things on her mind. She moved infront of the young ones, and spread a wall of blood infront of them, forcing it to harden.
Most of the people in the area were too busy focusing on hiding or stopping the explosive child from blowing more things up to notice the glowing blonde or the wall of blood, the children behind the wall, were in shock.
BOOM!
Several shards of glass got sent flying in addition to the shock wave itself, she stumbled slightly, but regained herself quickly. She stood tall, keeping up the shield in front of the children, with her arms spread across in front of it to help her maintain it.
Several shards were stopped and caught by the shield, several cut or graised Serena, and one embedded itself in her shoulder. A wave of pain hit her, she couldn't think about it.
A couple of mall cops approached the rapidly deteriorating situation. They were trying to calm people down, at least that is what it looked like, Serena couldn't actually hear them over the absolute chaos that was occurring inside of the mall.
One of them was down. That wasn't good. It was a fullblown riot. The black haired girl shouted something about calling the cops to her. Serena reached into her bag. She had forgotten her cell. At a time like this really?
She saw the two cops get up and move towards a guard post, probably calling for back up, or so Serena assumed. She yelled at the girl next to her, barely audible. "Not got... Cell... could you?"
Beads of sweat continued to roll down Serena's face. This was bloody difficult, and the yelling was NOT helping. She imagined a ship trying to move away, and she was the mental anchor stopping it from moving. God this was like tug of war on steroids.
She was starting to lose it when she heard Sams voice from another direction yell to let it go. Serena obliged, releasing her mental grip on the weapon of blood. It flew forwards at high speed, cutting through the air and impaling itself in the far wall, the spear left a deep gash, but didn't really do any serious damage.
Serena fell to her knees panting, she was covered in sweat. "You see... Why... I... Needed another... Way of fighting." Serena just about managed between breaths.
She then feel face first towards the floor, she had never lost control that badly, or had to fight back so hard. This is exactly what she didn't want to happen.
Sam dived out of the way as several and shouted something as he did. One of the spikes was about to hit him no no no no can't let that happen, Serena quickly raised her hand and closed her hand. It stopped just in front of him.
At the same time a flash of light occurred, leaving behind a thick metal sheet between the spear and Sam. Serena took a sigh of relief, all of the other spears were caught in metal constructs. The instantly became small puddles of blood.
All execpt the one Serena had a mental grip on. That one still clearly had a large amount of momentum behind it and she wasn't 100% sure that the "Danger room" had made a metal sheet thick enough, maybe because it stopped, it didn't think it was dangerous enough to produce more cover.
"Sam! Move so I can release this please!" beads of sweat were rolling down Serena's forehead.
Serena smiled for a moment and nodded as Gemma explained things and she nibbled a cookie. She wondered what Shin's power was, he seemed a fair bit older than her, so she expected he'd probably have control/know how to use it.
And then Gemma asked her what her mutation was.
Serena froze. Her face became deathly pale. She was freaking the hell out! What did she say? There was a little girl in the room, there were lots of people in the room.
What would they think if they found out? Would they think she was some form of freak? No, that was silly, this was a mansion full of other mutants, so logically there were probably mutants with even more creepy mutations than Serena.
But still, it was scary, it was wierd, and she couldn't control it... it just happens. "I urm... I... Uh, I can..." Serena muttered, she couldn't get the words out.
"Deep breaths, okay, I can do that." she was taking in shaky breaths and the blood started to float, and shake as well, she wasn't really able to steady herself.
It began rapidly changing form and shape. And Serena was trying her hardest to control it, although it didn't help that she was clearly freaking out. She felt as if she was pushing her mind against something volatile and changing, as if it didn't want to be held.
The blood started to form into several different shapes, mostly pointed and it felt as if they were hardening. Serena tried to tie them together mentally, but it felt as if a pressure was building behind them.
The pressure was reaching it's zenith, like the carbonation behind a champagne bottle's cork. She felt as if they were going to fire off any second. "Get down!" She screamed.
Serena smiled "Yeah, I was taken aback by the size of the building, and how many other mutants live here, but there are huge advantages to it I find, like for example, at night, because it is so big, you can do this sort of thing without anyone really bothering you, and because there are so many mutants, it is very safe for us here."
Serena dropped into the arm chair just across from Sylar. "Anyway, I'm glad you decided to visit. You dragged me away from Biology notes, I think the book was starting to devour me." Serena said sarcastically.
She smiled again and made herself comfortable in the chair that she had taken refuge in. "I wonder when Kealey will get back..." Serena wandered aloud.
Several saw the red-headed girl and she saw a black haired teenager run up to her. Wait... She knew that person. It was Amelia! The small red-headed girl on the floor hiccuped again after attempting to warn people, Serena was about to try to help.
...SHINK!
Serena felt something impact her leg and then a warm liquid spread across it. She looked down see a large splinter of wood sticking out of her left leg. That was not good. Serena felt a wave of nausea and pain.
On the brightside, if she continued bleeding, she'd have the ammunition she needed to protect some of the younger looking students from another shockwave.
Serena's face darkened. She hadn't even had time to organise a funeral yet. Who would she invite? She guessed she would look up and send an invitation to his partner.
"It was a couple of months ago, I haven't even had time to plan a proper funeral for him yet. Serena murmured.
Tears began welling in her eyes. He advised that she rent out the apartment to make extra money. That was probably the smart thing to do, probably.
She shook herself off and pulled herself back together. Yeah... That probably would be a good idea. I might do that."
Serena smiled and nodded to Katrina. "Alright, I can do this. I hope." She looked nervous, yet determined to do this.
Serena took in a deep breath. "Okay, here goes." The same dazzling blue aura surrounded Serena from earlier, she reached out and the blood became enveloped in the same aura, even the blood staining Katrina's dress.
She opened her moved her hands and a mass of blood about the size of a basket ball gathered, some from the floor, and all of the blood that had stained Kat's clothing.
She opened her palm and all of it suspended. She then began moving her hands with it, spinning it around, feeling the mental bumps in the sphere and removing them by opening channels through the blood and twisting and turning it.
A neat pile of dust and other things spawned on the floor near the pool of blood. Serena then held the now pure sphere in the air and turned to Katrina, barely holding concentration, this was hard. "Okay, get ready."
Serena smiled to her. "Well we can't use my dorm, I have a roommate named Liz, and a nosey parrot of hers. And don't worry about the mess little one, I can deal with that."
The blonde teenager gave the little vampire a warm smile and wrapped her arms around her. Squeezing her with a gentle hug. "Honestly, don't worry about it, if you mean mess as in blood, I can pull it out of clothing or anything and get rid of it or even give it directly to you with my power."
Serena felt a warm feeling, she could help Victoria with her power so that she wouldn't have to hurt anyone, and Victoria hadn't rejected her because of her power.
