Hearing that the tour could keep going Victoria smiled softly and tried to push back the bad feeling she had from breaking rules and scaring Chase and Mister Holloway. She was glad he was so nice. Having him for a teacher was going to a really good thing.
Chase accepted the girl’s apology much to her gratitude. She listened to him and realized she never thought of the fact that her mutation might not always work. Yet from all the times it was needed it was there. Was it always there then?
Victoria wanted to comfort Chase as he sounded worried for her, but she didn’t get to as the boy shouted out Mister Holloway’s name. Her red eyes moved from the boy to her teacher just in time to see the book falling and then poof. There in the place of her teacher was a shadowy form instead and the book hit the floor.
The shadow uttered a single word and the girl knew what it meant. Looking to Chase and then back to the shadow Victoria noticed the boy move closer to her side as they both looked puzzled. “I didn’t know he could do that.”

Victoria walked right next to the taller girl, but at a pace that was easily observed in case she turned. “I haven’t met everyone here, but the few I have are mutants. One is one of my teachers. He’s really nice. His name is Mister Holloway and he teaches art.”
Speaking of art the 12 year old gestured to some of the sculptures and paintings in the hallway. “This place is so pretty! I love it here. Hopefully you will too.” Continuing on Victoria tried to remember the places she had been shown first. The library! “Do you like to read Serena? There’s a really big library here and it’s right this way.”

“At least what?” Kait had raised the blonde girl’s curiosity now. Was she thinking something terrible? Maybe she saw something on the camera feed. What was it? Victoria was wishing she knew more about electronics besides some musical equipment.
Kait’s next question was easier to deal with. “I had some but I ran out and I can’t go very long without feeding or I start to hurt and get sick.” She hadn’t had to push herself too hard yet in trying to resist the urge to feed. She didn’t want to hurt, but at the same time she didn’t like having to hurt others in order to stay alive. No matter what she did the hunger always won.

Watching the red haired girl work Victoria hoped she could delete the feed from the camera that showed her. A sense of anxiousness rose up inside her. “I hope you can.” She crossed her fingers just in case.
“No, it wasn’t anyone from here. I couldn’t do that. The people I’ve met so far have been nothing but nice to me here.”

Victoria couldn’t help but feel sad for Serena. She couldn’t imagine what it would be like to not have any family at all. Her parents were still alive and well. It’s just that she was so far away from them. A sudden case of homesickness set in, but the little girl wasn’t going to let this stay a sad moment.
“Ok let’s go!” Saying that Victoria made a dramatic gesture leaning her body and pointing with her thumb down the hall. “It’s really nice here from what I’ve seen so far. I’ve only been here for a little while, but everyone I’ve met has been very nice to me. I’m sure you’ll get the same response.”

“Aitah! My mom named me. I’m sorry about your mother.” Victoria lowered her head just a bit from sorrow, but then looked back up at the new guest. “I was born in Romania and grew up in Estonia. I only recently arrived here in America.” It was interesting that Serena was also European. It made the girl smile happily. Even though she was from different countries the fact that they were both from Europe was good enough.
“Umm…so…this is the main entryway. I can show you the library and the classrooms if you’d like.”

With Serena now inside the gate the little blonde led the way to the mansion front door. Once there Victoria opened the door and allowed the taller girl to enter first. “Where are you from Serena? That’s a pretty name by the way.” Victoria gave a sweet little smile as she looked up to the new girl. “If you want I can show you part of the mansion while we look for a teacher or someone for you to talk to.”

Initially taking the lead to get herself and Penelope away from zombie Miles Victoria just wanted to get them out of the area. She didn’t know what happened to Miles after she pushed him. Although, there was an odd sound of rapidly exhaled air and then the snapping sound of twigs. Still, on she ran with her new friend.
Running in the night Penelope quickly came up with a plan for them. “You’re right! There’s lots more places to hide in the mansion. We’ll win for sure!” She giggled as they ran inside and searched for a place to hide so they could ambush the boy. “Oh, and thank you for the compliment Penelope.” She smiled big at the younger girl and gave her hand a friendly squeeze.

Watching the two older girls made Victoria smile softly. The older of the two wanted to make sure the other was going to be ok, and Serena was grateful to the other for bringing her here. It was a sweet moment.
When the ladies parted ways Victoria opened the gate for Serena to enter. Once inside she closed the gate again and looked up at the taller female. “I can show you around some while we look for a teacher or someone for you to talk to.”

Tears still ran down Victoria’s face. She didn’t want to get caught covered in blood. All she could do was nod at Kait’s response. She didn’t know just how tough it really was.
Sniffling and wiping the tears off her cheeks as well as smearing blood on her face the blonde girl listened to Kait’s proposal. “You could do that? You’d do that for me?” If she could help keep Victoria from being noticed in her current state then that would be wonderful. She could keep her secret for awhile longer.

Victoria looked up slightly so she could see her teacher’s eyes as he spoke. “I only wanted to show because Chase and yourself had done the same for me.” The girl nibbled on her lower lip nervously as she looked to Chase again making sure she hadn’t left the boy in shock. “I’m sorry Chase.”
Hoping she had mended things enough she looked back to Mister Holloway. “Does this mean I stopped the tour?”

The first female continued talking and while she did so she gave the second girl a little push forward. She gave a brief description of what the problem was. Oddly the younger of the two was going through a similar problem Victoria was dealing with. The fact that she’s a mutant.
Looking now at the girl named Serena it was clear that she was nervous. Victoria couldn’t help but feel for her. She wondered if that was how she looked when Mister Holloway talked to her about being a mutant.
Smiling at them both Victoria tried to be cheerful and sound helpful. “Nice to meet you Serena. My name is Victoria and yeah there are people here who can help you and talk to you. This is a good place with lots of friendly staff and students. I’m sure we can find you someone to talk to as well as see if it’s ok for you to stay here.”

The figures turned out to be two females. By Victoria’s judgement they were both older than herself. She could tell that just by looking at them. Strangely both of the other females had blonde hair like Victoria. Were there more blonde people in America than other places? Just an odd little thought that popped in the girl’s head until one spoke up.
“What do you need help with?” The young girl’s red eyes immediately started to look to see if the other females showed signs of being injured. Maybe their car broke down. That happened a lot in movies and they looked like they might be from a movie. Two young ladies. All alone in the night… Victoria’s mental narrator chimed in unexpectedly.

Kait’s response made Victoria feel even worse now. Was she making fun or was she being serious? It didn’t matter because either way it still stung deep inside. Unfortunately she found herself replying back. “NO, I CAN’T!” She shouted back. She didn’t mean to shout but she was so overwhelmed at the moment it just came out. “I have to feed on blood to live.” Her head drooped down and her voice got softer. “There’s nothing I can do about it.”

Victoria had been sitting in a window looking out at the night sky. She loved the stars and moon when they lit up the heavens. The moon also helped light up the ground where the girl spotted a couple people walking up towards the mansion gate. New people could be interesting to meet.
Making her way down through the building and out the front door the little blonde girl arrived almost the same time the other two figures did. She looked up at them through the gate. “Umm..hi! I don’t think I’ve seen you two here before.”
