The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

A hit! SHE HIT! Her kick made contact even if Gawain had managed to avoid the full force of the impact. With his recognition to her kick followed by a helpful tip, Victoria’s eyes glimmered and sparkled with excitement. His words repeated in her head. Better be faster or stronger. She wasn’t sure if she was faster, but there was a good feeling she was definitely stronger. Now to apply it.
When Gawain took up his stance again Victoria quickly did the same. They were taking things relatively slow and so far it seemed to be working out. Another attack came from Gawain, but this one was a sweeping strike from his leg. It was easy to see since the boy was so lanky. Victoria decided to try something new. Instead of trying to jump out of the way she threw a counterattack by turning slightly towards the oncoming leg of Gawain and releasing a fast front kick aimed for the knee. Be faster AND stronger.

In the brief moment after both students had recovered from Victoria’s initial attack she listened to Gawain. As the boy explained himself the girl tried thinking. She couldn’t recall Sam calling her a newbie. However, she did know she was instructed to go all out against the older boy.
Then a sudden movement. A glimpse of a fist heading at her head and her hands moved up to block. The impact never came, and before she knew it her legs had been taken out from under her and her shoulders were being pushed back. Victoria ended up on her bottom with a muffled oof escaping her mouth. Sam hadn’t taught her that and so she wasn’t able to defend against it.
Victoria quickly moved away in case a second attack was coming. Hopping back up to her feet and regaining her fighting position she felt a tad bit frustrated. She knew Gawain would get the first point. Now she needed to get points of her own.
Advancing cautiously until she was close enough Victoria threw a left jab followed up with a right hook. This simple punching combination was immediately followed by a right kick aimed at Gawain’s side.
Her kick had been blocked and now Victoria needed to halt her rearward momentum, thanks to the boy pushing her foot back. Quickly she pulled her foot back and planted it a step or so behind her other foot to regain her balance. Least now she knew this wasn’t going to be too easy.
“I like futball, or soccer as you call it. I haven’t played it in a while though.” The little blonde girl waited for a moment to see if Gawain would try following up his defense with a strike of his own. Arms up, legs slightly bent and brought back into her fighting stance. “You didn’t finish your first sentence.”

Introductions completed and rules issued it was time to see how the little vampire could do against another of Sam’s students. Victoria figured Gawain probably knew more than her so she would have to use everything she was taught if she was going to be competitive. Above all else don’t be there.
Settling into her own fighting stance Victoria gave a subtle smile. She was already thinking how fun this training was going to be. This opponent moves, unlike the training targets from her last lesson. “What is this newbie term you keep calling me Gawain?” As soon as she posed the question Victoria fired a front kick straight at the taller boy’s midsection.

Victoria watched as the one named Gawain approached. Now the girl was in the company of the twin towers as compared to her smaller frame. She listened to them go back and forth with their initial remarks. Sam giving the boy a greeting and then praising little Victoria. Gawain greeting back and including the girl.
“Hello Gawain It’s nice meeting you too.” She gave a friendly smile and a slight nod of acknowledgement. “I can answer your question. I do better at night. It’s when I’m wide awake.” She wondered what the boy meant about being in a newbie phase though.

Victoria smiled big as she approached Sam and was greeted. She giggled slightly at his confusion in her regards to it being night or day. “Good evening Sam. Even though I’m awake when most aren’t, it is still night time. His compliment on her attire only made her smile more. “Aitah! I thought it best to not ruin any of my nicer dresses.”
The reaction to the ‘surprise’ was a look of astonishment as she filled with excitement and also some anxiety. Sam had mentioned Gawain before as one of his students. And now he thought she was good enough to train with one of his older students?! She felt a rush of pride as she hopped up once and clasped her hands together close to her chest.
Sam continued talking and giving some initial instructions so Victoria listened attentively. “Why don’t you want him to know he’s a close friend? I always tell my friends.” That bit continued to confuse her, but she listened to him speak. That is until he said something that bothered her more than the close friends statement. “Wait. You want me to hurt him? I don’ think that’s supposed to happen. He’s another student. I can’t hurt him on purpose. That’s not right Sam.” Had she misinterpreted his wording? Maybe he was meaning something else? She ran his words through her head again. No, he said to break Gawain and to push both him and herself to the limit. This didn’t sound right for a first time of training with another student. She’s killed people before.

Several days had passed since Victoria had sought out Sam to teach her more fighting moves. The girl had been doing her best to practice in her room or when she would go for her night time strolls. When outside she would find a location away from all the beautiful flowers and stand and practice each punch and kick. Always remembering to not leave her limbs out for too long and to snap them back to be ready to defend or strike again. It was fun!
Wanting to learn more, the little vampire made her way to Sam’s office door in hopes of receiving more training. To her delight there was a note instructing her to go to the Danger Room at her favorite time of night. She always loved midnight because for some reason it just felt magical to her. It was usually when the moon was at its highest and the stars sparkled like precious gems.
Arriving at the Danger Room Victoria had chosen a less elaborate dress to wear so as to not have to worry so much about ripping off bows or delicate lace patterns. “I got your message Sam. What’s the surprise?!” Her voice was full of excitement and anticipation.

Smiling when her teacher agreed that training with someone else would be good Sam then continued on with his critique. His points sounded valid and made sense. It probably would be easier and faster if she could make one good strike to take down her opponent before they have a chance to defend or retaliate. Nods gave some acknowledgement that she was listening to his words.
Victoria watched as Sam covered himself in ice and called it armor. So he had a way to protect himself. That was good to know. It’s probably what helped save him and get him back to the mansion after whatever fight he had been in where people think he may be dead.
He then instructed her to say and remember his rule. “Strike quickly and get home safely. I will remember. I promise.” Her smile was replaced with a determined expression. She would make sure to stick to that guidance as best she could from now on. “I will do my best to use my head too.”

“Yeah, I agree with you that reading can teach and do other things besides take you away to a far off imaginary land. I just enjoy that last part more.” Victoria loved reading about fantasy lands with castles and kings and queens and magic. She used such mental adventures to help her forget about not being normal.
Orochi’s statement about preferring the daytime wasn’t really a surprise. Most people seemed to share his preference. It was something the little vampire was getting used to hearing and accepting. She would just have to continue enjoying her night time excursions mostly by herself. Once in a while someone might cross her path, but it was a rare occurrence.
“Well, I first learned Estonian because that’s where I grew up. So I can speak that and English, even though I sometimes still use Estonian words for some things just because it comes to mind faster. Kind of like you saying things in Japanese I’m sure.” A happy little smile crossed her lips. She smiled often especially when she was in a good mood or in good company. “My parents also taught me Romanian, but I don’t speak it as often. Was your first language Japanese?”
The compliment from the large dragon made Victoria blush and fidget with her fingers. “Aitah Orochi! Thank you! My mother has always been proud of me and treated me well. I have wonderful parents and I love them very much.” She thought of her parents for a moment and smiled again. This smile was more heart felt. “I bet your parents are proud of you too huh?”

When the last target was gone and the timer stopped Victoria heard clapping. It was coming from her teacher! A big smile spread over the girl’s lips as it was apparent she had done well. She had tried her best to do well, and the compliment and admiration that followed proved she had done just that.
Smiling and blushing at the same time as Sam compared her to some of his other students, Victoria was proud of herself. “Hopefully I’ll be scary enough to keep my friends safe.” She dwelled on Sam’s statement for some time. It gave her a glimpse of a possible future self. One who could keep those dear to her safe while also being scary enough that no one would dare try to hurt them either.
Sam’s mention of having the girl practice with someone else was exciting. “I’d like to do that! I’d get to meet someone new, and maybe make another new friend.” She beamed joyfully at this thought. Meeting new people was always interesting at the mansion because everyone was so unique in more than their looks and personalities.
The advice from her teacher was taken seriously, but she thought she should voice her reasoning for the way she struck some of the targets. “I understand that but I was trying to imagine that the targets were really coming after me like in a movie where the hero is surrounded. Some had weapons and so I would strike them in a way to expose a more vital area for me to hit. Should I not have done that? If I don’t do that then I’m sure I could finish much faster.”

“Reading can be fun. You get to go on adventures within your own imagination. That can be great fun indeed! I like to read too, but I don’t do it too often because I also like to wander around and meet new people and see things. I especially love walking around at night under the moon and stars. It’s so pretty and calm outside.”
Victoria often imagined what it might be like to walk around during the day in the sunlight. To see all the beautiful colors of flowers and hear the sounds of people and animals, but the thought of burning alive always ended such thoughts. Nonetheless she was extremely content with her night time explorations.
As Ryoga explained how he let his native language slip into his speech Victoria giggled. “It’s quite alright. I do that too and for very similar reasons. It’s kind of fun sometimes when I get to explain what was said because I like seeing the pleasant reaction from the other person when they understand.” She then thought about what it was the dragon had called her. Princess Cheeks light up with a shade of pink. She hadn’t been called that in some time now. “My father calls me his little princess.” The girl composed herself and courtsied politely. “I thank you Draakon Orochi.”
Looking down at her dress and again smoothing her hands over it, letting her fingers feel the material texture. “Yes, my mother buys my dresses for me. She always gets me the prettiest ones, and I love to wear them.”
