The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

If Tses was an adrenaline junkie before she met Ty, there were few words to describe her attitude now. She was trying to function off the risk of being on the edge of danger, and some moments slipping closer towards disaster others. Every time her thoughts started to drift, she saw an expanse of darkness, and the hands of loneliness reached out to clutch her. She wasn't just turning to adrenaline for amusement now. She was using it as a fuel to keep running and escape the fear inside her. Ty seemed happy enough, and overall, he seemed to be oblivious to her struggle. She was glad. She didn't want to let him know she was afraid; she couldn't handle being so needy.
A twitch of the hand and a scamper towards the car, her thoughts drifted backwards, and she smiled as she listened to him analyze the problem. As the car roared to life, she plopped in next to him, but didn't make so much as a gesture towards the seat belt. There was no way she was getting strapped into anything; that was a sure fire way to make her brain go into screaming panic. "Let's just hope your driving is better than mine." She teased, and looked for some way to roll down the window. She knew there had to be a button for it or something, but she was impatient, and considered just opening the door to throw things out instead.
Tses felt her attention caught when Ty pointed, and wandered over the edge to see the possible target. It was a gleaming piece of work, slick paint, new wax, and tires that seemed too pretty to be out in the snow. The soft top seemed misplaced here in New York's cold weather, but it looked fast, and that was a plus. "Think you can make it run?" She said with a flicker of a smile. She glanced around for a fire escape, and luckily there was one close by.
"C'mon! Let's get a closer look while no one is around!" She said, and jumped down taking the fire escape in a few swings, and landing on the ground in a crouch. She was sure Ty would be a bit slower behind her, but enjoyed showing off. She always enjoyed the small sensation of falling between the stories of the fire escape though, and the sting of her hands hitting the metal didn't bother her. She felt like some type of gymnast at times, although she tended to opt for efficient movement verses graceful.
Tses felt lost somewhere in a corner of her mind where the line between reckless and suicidal blurred together. There, the words of Amber didn't register, and the roar of anger from Regan didn't click. She was just somewhere where her heart was deprived of sensation, and she just wanted desperately to feel something. Hatred, anger; it all was the same to her. She didn't care if the other mutants hated her. She hated herself, so why not make the feeling mutual?
The only thing that rattled her was the feeling of getting thrown into the tree, a clawed hand pinning her by the throat. Her world became a momentary blur, then a sharp flicker of pain sent her body into survival mode. Air left her chest with a whoosh similar to the sound her powers made, and stars lingered in her vision, brighter than the ones in the sky. Adrenaline ran through her veins, but it didn't feel strong enough to straighten her thoughts. She just felt numb. But she fought out of reflex.
Gasping for breathe, she clawed at Regan's hand with her all too human fingers, arms flickering and glowing with the moon energy she couldn't quite will into action. Fear flickered in the back of her soul, but hurt overwhelmed it. The risk right now felt like nothing more than a thrill to prove she was alive. Maybe she was loosing it. Maybe she had finally gone crazy, and she felt dumb that it was a boy that sent her over the edge. But maybe it was more than Ty leaving. Maybe it was just this feeling of emptiness that kept driving her deep and deeper. There was just nothing to loose; she wanted something worth fighting for.
Her eyes sharpened slowly on Regan, and she stopped squirming, relaxing against the pain. She watched the teeth slowly lengthen, and she stared back without fear. She pressed against Regan's hold just enough to raise her chin defiantly, and snarled with a hiss of air. "Go ahead. Kill me. You're no more of a monster than I am." She reached back with one of her hands, pressing one of the feline claws deeper, drawing a small drop of blood. She didn't even flinch. She was challenging the tiger woman, daring her to do it. Part of her wondered if she was a better person than Tses like she claimed to be.
Tses moved slowly, thinking over the options. She'd never stolen a car before. Well, not intentionally. She considered the car jacking more of a uh, crime of opportunity, instead of a planned criminal action. She only counted heists if she thought a little ahead to commit them. Otherwise they were just rebellious scavenging. "If you know how to hotwire, we could get something fast! We'll have to pick the right district though, because around Time Square traffic is too slow to actually get away from authorities after you steal. And part of the fun is the chase."
She jumped across to another building, this one requiring a bit more of a running start. Her hands twitched slightly, and she fidgeting with her arm bands again. She had to do something. This was getting too slow for her. "Have any cars in mind?"
The store was everything Tses dreaded it would be. Cute, cuddly, and adorable. And Penelope seemed to fit in, with her wide smile and her energetic personality. There were tiny white kittens EVERYWHERE, as well as some other little animals like puppy dogs and rabbits. Tses wasn't one for cute and cuddly. The cutest object she owned was a tiny white tiger Ty had gave her, and she wasn't even sure why she kept that still. Sentimentality, maybe. Just like this girl and her rabbit, possibly?
A few kids scampered around underfoot, and Tses felt like she would run one of them over if she wasn't careful. She was going to murder someone by accident. There would be a news report sometime in the near future. "Tragic accident took place in the Manhattan Mall. Several children and stuffed animals were injured when a hello kitty store exploded. There are still reports coming in, but sources say a young teenager lost control of her mutant abilities and took it out on the largest stuffed animal she could find. The stuffing remains are all that we could collect."
They should leave now.
Then, she found herself spritzed with a Hello Kitty body spray, and gagged on the sweet smell that flooded her mouth and nose. She stumbled backwards into a display of stuffed kittens, knocking a few to the floor, and tried desperately to get fresh air. "What the hell was that?" She squeaked, making a face. "Wholly, molly that was worse than walking to the thirst story of Aembercromie and Fitch!" She felt like she had been bathed in the smell of an animated children's show. She was going to puke hearts and rainbows now.
>>"I could leave you outside instead if you'd rather[...]"
Tses felt her eyebrows knit together for a second, and she tried not to get annoyed. But Sophia wasn't the only one lacking patience, and this encounter seemed doomed to fail. Deep breath in, deep breath out. Gees, this was going to be a looong treasure hunt unless Serena magically appeared out of a corner or something. "Fine, I'm coming." She resisted grumbling as they kept walking.
Sophia stayed too close for Tses to try to sneak off on her own, and it was like having a cop breathe down her neck. She hated that feeling, and wanted to shoo the woman away, but her focus kept her frustration under control for now. She did feel irritation prickle a little as Sophia spoke. "Call? Never had a phone, so there isn't a way to get a hold of her, or give her a way to get a hold of me. I live a little outside the 'send me an e-mail' realm, so dropping by is the easiest thing. And I gave you people the benefit of the doubt. I wouldn't have just left the kid anywhere. Didn't drop her off at the Sanctuary or anything." She murmured, and rolled her eyes. The questions seemed a bit odd to her, but that was mostly because Tses never questioned her actions. She just did. When people tried to analyze her and make sense of why she did one thing or the other, they both just ended up confused. Why did you blow up that trash can? I don't know, why DIDN'T you blow up that trash can?
Tses smirked at him, and shook her head. She did a little cat walk along the edge of the building, then hopped across the short gap without much difficulty. A small little rainbow glittered to her left, where the water from the fire hydrant was creating a mist in the air, and she took a moment to smile at it, before wandering further from their crime scene.
"So you really up for a joyride? You probably drive better than I do, considering the only pieces of the car I really understand are the gas and the brake. Well, braking is optional." She winked back at him, and walked backwards a few steps. She paused and made sure there was no half fished or completely finished skylight behind her first though. Didn't want to try THAT again.
Tses had never seen someone so mesmerized by what she did before. Normally her glowing just brought a distasteful glare, or some type of rude gesture. But this creature (if she could call it a creature) seemed to be entranced by the light. She wasn't sure if the glowing green energy fascinated him, but apparently the smaller orbs did by the way his large eyes lit up. She resisted the urge to let the green light flicker closer to him to show off, worried that might startle him, but did let it glow a little brighter so he could see what she was doing. Then again, that made of made it harder to see. Was it nocturnal? Was it a he or ---heck, she didn't know.
The grin that spread across his face was a little disconcerting, but it reminded her of a small toothy animal at most. Like a shark; he was like a really bazaar shark mouthed creature. Well, maybe that was a stretch, but it was hard to describe something like that. Goblin was the only word that fit, but that had such a negative sound to it. When he wasn't trying to steal stuff, he didn't seem evil or anything. Heck, he might even be in the cute range, like a puppy with a really painful bite.
"I can't teach you it, but I can let you hold one if you promise to throw it before it explodes. It'll hurt you if you hold onto it too long." Tses tried to explain, putting one hand on her hip. Somehow, she doubted he would listen, and the last thing she needed was the blast this little creature halfway across the park. She made the tiniest little orb again, setting a longer timer for it, then held it out. It was like handing a roman candle to a 3 year old then telling them not to point it at anyone.
For a few moments, it felt like things were back to normal. Just laughing, joking, and that little side hurting pain that came from feeling good. She was somewhere in blissful oblivion where pain couldn't touch her. But then, as Ty turned throw the explosive, a small side of her brain momentarily crumbled. Her hands shook momentarily, and she nervously clutched her palms together, the glowing light around her flickering just a tiny bit brighter. In the back of her mind, a darkness kept creeping forward, and she kept fighting to keep it at bay. It lasted only a second, but it was like drenched with cold fear, until the fire hydrant exploded, and a smile returned to her face.
"Heh, you'd almost think you that on purpose Fish." She said with a smirk, and laughed as she listened to the old lady cursing. She gave a small tug on his jacket, and nodded her head away from the crime scene. "We may want to move a bit further south. I think you've set off the uh, criminal car alarm." She snorted.
From the roof of a nearby building, Tses swung her legs back and forth sitting on the rooftop. She was still buzzing with the adrenaline high, and smirked as she watched the figure return to the car. No cop lights, no 911; it appeared to be a perfect heist, at least as far as consequences went. She waited until they were finally pulling away before standing, and then pitched a small explosive into a trash can just as the car went to turn into the street. It left a small POOF of snow fluttering down next to the passenger side of the vehicle, and Tses chuckled, wandered back into the darkness.
Consider it a farewell gesture, from a snarky little mutant.
Tses smirked and laughed, putting her head back on the concrete lip of the building. "You should have seen it though! It was hilarious! Ok, so the car was running in the parking lot and the keys were already in it, so I was like, 'well, best time to learn I guess', so I jumped in and started trying to drive it, even though I've only been in one once before, then all of a sudden this kid comes climbing up from the back seat, yelling at me in this accent, like 'oh my gawd yehr crazy lady! Turn tha car around!' I wanted to play this game, while one person steers while the other tries to land explosives in passing trash cans, but he didn't think it was that fun so I took him back to the store, but we should totally play that game again sometime!" She was obviously delighted at the thought of grand theft auto and destruction of public property, in a way, it was a wonder she managed to stay out of jail. Perhaps there was a reason for Jacobs concern over them.
With a sigh, she shook her head and rolled back over, peeking over the edge of the building. Below her, strangers were trying to clean up the coffee mess still. Smirking, she made another explosive, and held it out to Ty, setting an extra long 'timer'. Then she motioned to the ladies purse just a few feet away. She waited to see if he could managed the shot or not.
Tses glanced from person to person, and slowly formed a tiny explosive in her hand. She finally got her mental cross-hairs on a rather stuck up looking business man with a cup of coffee in his right hand. Perfect. With care, she dropped the tiny orb and it fell into the lidless cup with a plop. Then she quickly ducked back under the edge of the roof, snorting with laughter as she head the loud pop of the cup exploding and angry cursing from below. "Awe... I wanna see the look on his face but---" A snort of laughter. "Then I'd give up us away. Oh!"
She turned to him, a wild grin on his face. "Did I tell you I learned to drive? Well sorta, I mean, I stole a car. Well, I didn't really steal it because I parked it right back in the spot where I took it from, but there was this kid in the car and he kept yelling at me, but eventually I got him to teach me to drive it and we didn't crash or anything!" She looked like a Cheshire cat when she smiled in that slightly scary way. She was a force of nature when she was let off the leash, and she could only imagine what it looked like when she got in the car. "He thought I was stupid because I didn't know what a stop sign was, but c'mon... it's not like there are any of those up here!" She waved her arms around dramatically pointing across the rooftops.
Tses tentatively took her own drink, and gave it a sip. It was cold but delicious, a tangy fruity taste that lingered on her tongue. Smiling slightly, she sipped again, and glanced out the window at the city she now called home. To most people, New York was a tourist city. But she saw the little cracks and crevices beyond that. It was a playground, and there was so much for her to explore and take in. "You seem to have your own reasons for coming to the city though. Are you one of those 'go to New York and try to make it' type artists, or did you just come here for the heck of it?"
She was settling into the conversation a little bit, and it was fun to talk with someone like a normal human. She knew she wasn't normal, but it felt refreshing to be treated like she was. She felt like it was a game, in a way. Try to be nice and friendly for a little bit. Not that she'd ever see her new acquaintance again. She never seemed to run into people twice, especially because she lacked cell phones and other means of communication. She could steal a hundred wallets and never get the same person twice. Again, the appeal of the city.
Tses skittered on the first roof, landing a little sloppily for her taste, but the rush of running was catching up to her. She glanced back only momentarily to make sure Ty was following, then let herself be swallowed by the thrill of the run. Her second jump was much more graceful and she laughed with relief, hair blown back by the wind. It felt good to just let go and run, skirting the edges of the rooftop with danger, and she had gone several buildings before she finally let herself slow, sides tingling with a welcomed burn. She put her hands behind her head and breathed deeply, relaxing as little glimmers of green energy wound around her arms. She hardly noticed she was doing it, but lately the tendrils of her powers were doing that when she was overly emotional.
Glancing, and waiting for Ty to catch up, she turned and glanced at the busy streets below. Laying on her belly, she put her arms up on the edge of the building, and started looking for a target. "Have a good run?" She smirked at Ty, then glanced back down.
Tses glanced over at him, and smiled slightly, chuckling. "That's kinda cute.... Although, you do realize I can't really read half the notes you leave me, don't you?" She said, opening her eyes and glancing at him. Then she looked away again and sighed. "Always makes me feel dumb admitting it though." She stood up suddenly, and brushed off her hands on her jeans, holding out a hand to help him up.
"C'mon. Let's find a spot where we can throw stuff at people or something. I'll make you your own explosive, and you can try to land it in a trash can or something." She winked at him, then without waiting for him she took a running start and leapt from their roof to the one next door.
