The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

After reading the note, well, piecing together enough of the sort-of letters to form words she thought they meant (it's hard for a mutant who can hardly read in the first place to read notes from a mutant without thumbs) Fade grabbed her stomach and mouth. The more and more she read the last part, the harder she clenched her mouth before it finally errupted and she burst out laughing. For a moment, she lost her ability to breathe from laughing so hard. The teddy didn't want to change back because Star scared him! "Deathstar! Feared by the fluffy ones!" she weezed, grabbing her stomach tighter. She could feel her abs tensing up.
"Yeah, but he didn't come into your room with a knife," she laughed, trying to regain her composure. Finally, she pulled herself together and listened to Deathstar's poor attempt at being sweet and un-scary. "Don't hold me to this teddy bear, but I'd say if you transform, you'd show her you're harmless. Unless you're like a giant bouncer under all that fluff. Maybe your human form might calm her down," she said, attempting to get him to transform back before Deathstar rammed her knife into him. Poor poor teddy. Could teddies wet themselves?
She thought about what kind of seafood they had at Panera and snapped her fingers once she had gotten it. With a smile on her face, since she had pieced together how to make it work, she said "Well they have salmon, do you like that?" If he didn't like Salmon, they wouldn't go. What has lots of fish? There was always Sushi, but Fade had never tried it before and people that went in those kind of restaraunts were usually great pick-pocket victims... uhum... back in the day. So it must be expensive. Wasn't sushi raw fish? Could you get worms from that? The possibilities of the diseases she could contract swam through her head. There were other fish places, like Long John Silvers! Although she did not know how fast food fish sounded to a fish mutant. It almost made her laugh.
As Chris watched the Subaru pass, Fade was more interested in the driver. It was a male, a bit older for her taste. Oh, and there was the kid in the back seat that gave away his age as well. Fade had never been one to recognize cars, hell, she did not even know how to drive one. Raph tried to- she shook her head a little to stop thinking about him. She had to move on at some point. She hadn't even been on a date since her return. Only thing close enough was her midnight conversation with the now taken Silver Streak and now this outing with Chris, which was furthest from romantic.
He asked how they were to get off the bridge and Fade remembered her cell phone and opened her jacket pocket to reveal her iPhone. It was one of the perks of being an X-Man, she got her own cell phone plus a little X-Communicator. However, the iPhone was a bit too complicated. She didn't have any applications on it, just a little contact book, notepad and a calculator. She didn't even know how to send text messages. There was always a new symbol on the top of her task bar, so maybe people were texting the technologically impaired redhead and she never responded. She did, however, know how to call a cab. She called and gave their coordinates. Hanging up was a problem, since she didn't know how, so she usually just put it back in her pocket and waited for them to hang up. "One's on it's way."
The possibility that Chris had a different diet than Fade had never really crossed her mind, not until he looked a little different about wanting to eat at Panera. Sure, Panera had some hot warm soup, but Chris did not really look like a soup kind of guy. He looked like he ate fish, but he kinda was a fish, so what sense did that make? Maybe it did make sense, that he was a sorta fish who ate fish. Little fish are eaten by big fish, and he was a pretty big fish, right? Was that considered cannibalism? Like could an 8 foot man eat Fade but no one cares cause she's smaller? Fish had different ethics...
"I'm sorry, I jumped to that one too soon. What do you like to eat?" she asked, careful not to ask what fish he liked just in case he really didn't eat fish, then she would look like a real butthead. He asked what it was like to turn invisible. Now that was not really a question she had been asked before. "Oh, um... it's a bit odd. At first when I started using, I had to focus really hard, and now it's pretty much like second nature, I don't even realize I am invisible sometimes. Sort of slips my mind," she laughed. "Though I have thought I was invisible when I wasnt, that's a little different, those situations never really end comfortably," she said, leaving it open for interpretation. It wasn't that she would hurt them, it was that it got really embarassing.
It took the pen and tried writing. HOW CUTE! Fade almost squealed, but she just beamed happily. Hopefully, it was too focused on it's writing to see just how much Fade was glowing with the urge to say "AWWWWW." He took a while to write, which was fine, she couldn't imagine writing in a bear outfit either. It gave her time to close Star's drawer and make an oops face to her. She always forgot about that whole 'invasion of privacy' some people had. Then again, if Fade wanted something private, she would turn it invisible, until she had to let go of course.
It wrote that it was a mutant. "I KNEW IT! It's wearing an outfit!" she said, though it was weird that the mutant would be a teddy bear, that must have been one hell of an X-Costume. Not her top choice though. Deathstar of course wanted some proof. True, just saying he lived here was not enough. "Are you a mutant teddy or a mutant human that looks like a teddy? Just turn into a human or unzip that suit or something so we can see you in human form," she suggested. Well, the more she thought about it...what if he was like Venus' size and could beat her to a bloody pulp in human form. So he shouldn't change if he's a scary human.
While Chris did swim to the edge, she could tell he wanted to keep swimming. It must be similar to pulling Fade out of her cozy warm bed in the morning. It's heartbreaking but she can always jump back into bed later on. "We'll come back sometime, don't worry," she said, hoping to help him not feel so 'back to the human world'ly. He seemed a little hesitant about getting something to eat, but Fade would stick up for him if anyone gave him any crap. She hated when people judged them just for looking different. Still, Fade's visible mutations were her constantly changing eye color and her claws, but she could become invisible if it overwhelmed her. While her mutations were visible, they weren't as extreme as Chris's so she could understand if he felt a little insecure.
He exited the water and began to crawl up to the bridge in a bit of a hurry. So he was not much of a talker, that was fine. Not everyone was as outgoing as Deathstar and at least he tried some. She had never really watched him walk before and it was quite different from a human's walk. A few times, she was tempted to try to catch him, thinking he had tripped and was ready to fall, but she had to convince herself that he knew how to walk just fine and he was not falling, his legs just worked differently in the water, which was an amazing advantage in water. So Fade must look pretty funny swimming, since her body was not made for it. The thought calmed her down and helped her get on the same level of not being as graceful underwater for her and on land for him. "So like a Panera or something?" she asked, walking up to the bridge. The clothes were still there, who would steal clothes? Her cash was actually in a ziplock back in her wetsuit, she would not leave that out, so there was no wallet to steal.
She grabbed the towel and began to dry off, of course, that was hard in a wetsuit, so she turned invisible and disrobed. It was freezing cold and she did not know how Chris would react to her being invisible but naked, so she still covered herself with the towel, even if it was invisible too, it was more of a self-comfort. She dressed and then began to dry her hair after sliding into her warmest hoodie. When she turned visible, she was completely dressed, except her socks and shoes and she sat down to start to put those on. "Hope I didn't freak you out with that," she added.
Sam gave out more orders, to which Fade just nodded her head as most of it went in one ear and out the other. It was a little odd how Sam was the one Streak, Jewel and Fade saved and yet he was also the one to give out orders. Very odd indeed. Still, he was sort of the leader of the X-Men, so she heard the part where he told her what to do and she followed it. Sure, she'd travel up the stairs to get the footage. Why she really needed to go was unknown, but maybe the doors were locked and she could just phase in, grab it and leave. Then again, she had no clue what the hell it would look like.
She followed Streak who followed Alex, giving a quick glance at the blonde. Who knew who she was? Apparently Sam did, what a flirt. She just wanted to see what the blonde was going to do, but she went ahead and looked away again, decided it didn't matter, the blonde was perfectly capable of fending for herself, it seemed. All those work outs in the Danger Room paid off with all the running around they had to do and Fade followed closely behind Streak. "I'm still here," she said, warning them before she turned invisible. Really, she was doing it in case some one attempted to sneak up on them, they would get a taste of their own medicine. Plus, it just made her feel more comfortable in a mission such as this.
He told her about how she did not make many noises and didn't splash much. She was getting better at swimming now that she actually used the Mansion pool more. Now THAT would be a challenge. Hiding from him in the pool, it would be nearly impossible to beat him at Marco Polo in such a small water environment. Even a lake, it sounded like, would be tough to hide from him. He asked if they wanted to go back up. "Yeah, let's see if someone has stolen our clothes," she smiled, turning visible. Yes, it was cold, her teeth were chattering a little bit, but she had lived out on the streets in colder weather. Of course, she could simply break into somewhere warm, but sometimes those places were not that much warmer, and that was always a big pain in the butt.
Was Chris a coffee guy? Did he eat normal food or little fish pellets? Fade mentally slapped herself for that thought, it was a little mean. Well, whatever he ate, they could go out. Fade had some money. "Care for some coffee or soup? Something warm?" she asked, looking around. Of course, Fade could just simply climb up the bridge, but she did not want to just leave Christ there, she would swim with him to the edge and walk up. Figuring out which bank was closest was easy, now they had to swim to it, which would be just as easy, but a bit longer for Fade. She pushed off the foundation and began to wade to the left bank. "I had fun! What about you?"
Star was getting restless. She wanted answers right then and there. The bear, on the other hand, had a cute way of beating around the bush. He started pointing to himself. "Bear? You? You bear? You're a bear?" she began guessing quite horribly. Charades was never really her game. They played it at school once, at the playground, and someone charaded "kidnapped" just so little Jenny would get upset. Her foster parents never really knew how to keep their mouths shut on business that did not concern them. So, practically everyone knew what happened to Jenny before she attended the little elementary school, including the children. Star just stood there, looking at Fade.
"What? I dont' speak bear!" she said, still trying to figure out what the bear was saying. "And I suck at charades!" An idea jumped into her head and she went to Star's bedside table. Rumaging through her friend's stuff, she found a piece of paper and a pencil that was low on lead. Great. A bit more rumaging revealed a pen to her and she opened it before passing it to the bear. "Can you write?" Of course, teddy bears did not have thumbs, but maybe they could just hold the pen and write with both hands. These were those rare Kodak Moments and Fade wished she had a video camera so badly, or even a cell phone so she could record it. Although, if whatever it was could turn into a human, would it have clothes on when it transformed? Or was it just a little human in a bear suit? Or a robot? Most robots could talk even in bear form or had some way to communicate. Can little mutants in bear outfits talk?
Hello everyone. I had my mom in town and my promotion still going on so I haven't been able to get on this past week. I thought I could squeeze in a day or two but unfortunately not. Just letting everyone know I am back now, my mother is out of town and the promotion has a better schedule for me now. Sorry about that.
she could see him swimming around, following the trace. At first, she thought he could smell it or see where she was and as she tried her hardest to, well, not smell like anything, she noticed a little sizzle sound. Searching for the reason for this, she saw a few bubbles surface, all forming a line from where se entered the water, to where she resurfaced. Damn! It was idiotic! She had left a nice long trail for him to follow and withh every tiny pop of air after it resurfaced, Fade's frown grew larger. She hardly had any time to swim anywhere else when she saw his figure swim up to te foundation. She was caught. He began to swim around her, like a shark swimming its prey, except she hoped Chris didn't have any shark teeth, that would really suck. Even if she was caught, she did not want to give up her exact location, so she completely froze. She did not stir the water around her and did not blow out any air.
His sense of smell was still a problem, it was always the hardest to not smell good or bad enough to be noticed. It disturbed her shower schedule to have to make sure she showered with some of that "no scent" shampoo that hunters use when they hunt. It helped out most of the time, but under the water, she doubted it would be that easy. How could she get out of this one? She could climb down this time, but she did not want to drown. After a few moments of staying still, she spoke up. "Alright, you got me, you got me!" she laughed, she had stayed hidden for a while even if she sucked at swimming, that had to mean something, right? "What was it that gave me away other than the loud splash, bubbles and dive from the bridge? I gotta know what I need to keep working on. Did you smell me? Could you see me? Hear me?" she asked, bombarding him with questions. She was curious, she wanted to help her powers grow and she could tell by the glow on Chris's face that he enjoyed usuing his mutations as well. This little exercise was beneficial for the both of them, so why end it?
Sorry for my disappearance this weekend, I have had a busy time at work. I'm about to get a promotion so all this training and blah blah blah is going on. Anyways, I wanted to let you know that I will be gone this weekend, it's my 20th birthday and my mom is coming to town from a few states over, so something big will happen and I won't be able to get on from about friday to maybe tuesday.
The moment Sam left her shoulder, it dropped. It was almost like carrying a heavy box and dropping it, the sudden tendency to spring and catch the box before it hit the ground. Fade's shoulder dropped but her hand lurched, ready to catch him, but he wasn't headed for the ground. When her body had gotten used to the sudden change of pressure, she looked up to see him in the arms of Alex. Yeah, well if that wasn't a woman, she had no idea what it was. Sam is gay, was immediately crossed out in her mind now that she actually saw Alex and this odd so called "cheerleader". Of course, after the happy couple renunion had settled down, Sam turned back to his leadership self and made a gesture to the door. If he had said "someone go to the other side and unlock it," maybe Fade could help, but he said someone get rid of it, and that someone would probably be Streak. Fade really needed some more fighting lessons.
Then it happened, the moment of happiness, Streak said he couldn't do it! Sure, it was not that happy, it meant they couldn't get through, but it might be a shinning time for Fade to work her magic. "I'll see if it opens from the other side," she said, moving towards the door. She walked quickly, not slowing down at all as her face made impact with it and simply phased through. When she had pulled her remaining foot through, she turned to look at the door, it had a handle, but it had a keyhole and Fade did not have a key. Looking around for it, her eyes followed a trail of blood leading around the corner. A deep feeling in her stomach quickly shot to the ground and begged her not to follow that, she did not much want to see what happened to who ever's blood that was. Instead, she tried a little trick she learned when she lived on the streets.
Phasing her index finger claw into the keyhole, she began to turn it into a solid, but rather gently. She concentrated on everything around that claw, if it was a contraption or if it was just air and slowly, she shaped a key in her partially solid claw. It took her a few tries to get it and during those times, she jiggled the lock, but it wouldn't move. Finally, she heard the little click that the key had worked and she grabbed the door handle and pushed down. It worked! The door opened and she stood there with her finger still in the key hole, motioning for everyone to leave. "Got it," she said, pulling her partially phased claw from the door. It would only work with her claw, because it was strong enough to not break and it had no blood flow that would be cut off if she turned partially solid. Just in case, she kept that section of her claw solid if they were to run into another door with a lock.
If there was anything in the world that was cuter than a teddy bear waving its arms and shaking its head, Fade could not remember it at this moment. A small little "awwwwww" escaped her lips and the minute it did, her face lit up and her shoulders dropped as if it were her time to hold the teddy bear now. "Oh come on, Star, that was the cutest thing I've seen in weeks, look at his little teddy arms," she said, watching Deathstar put him down. She noted her apology for pushing her, but it was a little fun swinging from the ceiling in the room below and then pulling back up again. Maybe she should have joined the circus... she would have a lower chance of getting killed in a mission, in fact they would not have any missions.
The bear was thrown down, which Fade actually moved to help him up, offering her hand for him to pull himself up. While Deathstar was all for pain for a response, Fade was not too sure when it concerned a teddy bear.Yeah, maybe she could twist someone's arm for information, but that's a human arm, who knew how a teddy bear's anatomy worked? "If it were here to harm us, we'd be hurt by now. It had the opportunity when you were holding it and when you were dressing it or when I was holding it. And it wouldn't come out from under the bed if it had something to hide. If I got caught by the Order and they told me to become visible, hell no, I would get out of there."
