The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The girls heard Abyss coming before they saw him; they knew the gait of all of the Order members by ear, or feel in Amp's case. The printer decided to jam at that moment, stealing Vibe's attention from his approach. Amp, meanwhile, looked up and waved. A smile graced her face, in hope that the big red mutant had some sort of mischief up his sleeve, preferably outside of the Sanctuary walls.
“ You know, I looked in the card catalog, and I didn’t see either of your names in their. I asked the librarian and she said she didn’t know. But I thought I’d come and check you two out anyway.”
The deadpan look that overtook the petite redhead's face could easily be classed as 'priceless'. Her sister looked up from her printer troubles in surprise.
"Did I read that right?" Amp asked, suddenly doubting her lip-reading abilities.
>I think you did...< Vibe replied in silent, but equal confusion. She turned to listen a bit closer.
“You beautiful ladies should grant me the pleasure of taking you out tonight.”
The diminutive duo exchanged another set of looks, Amp still confused, and Vibe now suspicious.
"Are you sure I read that right?" the former asked once more. "As in, Abyss asked us out on a date?"
She hadn't meant for it to come out quite that incredulous. It's not that the idea of going out with the big red mutant was far-fetched, or anything. It's just that the girls had grown to look at him as a big brother, rather than an available date prospect.
>You read it right. But that's not Abyss,< Vibe explained, having had the opportunity to identify the differences between Abyss and each clone. Aloud, she said, "Okay, I'm hearing Venus' words coming out of Pluto's mouth. Did the lot of you get scrambled in the void, or something?"
She made a swirling motion with the fingers of one hand, and placed the other on her hip. Amp crossed her arms and cocked her head. Jammed printers and shopping trips could wait a few minutes for this explanation.

Soft footsteps reached Vibe's ears, warning her that she now had a tag along. Served her right for encouraging the girl.
In response to her question, Cailyn replied, "This big red man with the tail and the big arms."
"That would be Abyss," Vibe clarified. "Or possibly one of his clones."
It took some maneuvering, hip-bumping, a broken nail and a muttered curse to get the laundry room door open.
"So what can you do to make you worth the Sanctuary's time?" she asked in boredom, while stuffing the washer with more clothes than it was designed to handle.
"Would a maid be too much to ask for?" she muttered under her breath, as she shoved her arms into the pile.

When Amp opened her eyes and saw that she'd been caught, and how, two thoughts ran through her mind. One, her question about Sam creating larger figures was answered, quite eloquently.
Two? This situation was just begging for a bad pun....
“You okay? Would have been quite a nasty fall if you landed on the ice.”
She looked at the icy hands supporting her weight. "This doesn't count?" she remarked, as the chilly nighttime show vanished in a cloud of blue.
“Hope I didn’t give you a cold.”
A second sneeze involuntarily left her mouth. She sniffed, and accepted the hand to her feet. She pulled a sheepish look onto her face.
"Well, if you did, I admit it was worth it." She shivered slightly, but continued to smile at him. "I probably should head home though. It's getting late."
She paused, then added. "This was fun. Thank you, Sam."

"Where am i."
Vibe stopped and glanced back over her shoulder. Cailyn sounded almost panicked.
"The Sanctuary, duh." She stared at the girl incredulously. "Did you know that before coming here?"
The stack of clothes was beginning to get heavy. Finally she grumbled, "Look, kid, I don't have super strength. If you wanna keep talking, you'd better get those legs moving and keep up, 'cause I'm not stopping."

The Twins watched Kaz's transformation with enough interest to make them lose focus on their human patsies. They'd seen him transform once before, at the KP fight, but were a bit too involved in other things to care. This particular change reminded Amp of the cartoon version of the Incredible Hulk, except changing to black instead of green. Plus his clothes didn't rip, though the muscles were bulging enough to make it an awfully tight fit. Actually, color aside, he looked like a sleek version of Street Fighter II's Blanka.
Vibe found it a bit hard to focus on the transformation and keeping her melody both going and directed, so the song lessened slightly. It was enough to grant the human freedom to look around, but not to break the total hold on their minds. Phineas Trinke and LaDrina Donnely were able to stop kissing, just long enough to give each other bewildered stares and turn their heads, in time to see a man come flying in their direction, hit the back of the train, and crumple at their feet in unconsciousness.
"How's that for Show'n'Tell?"
The girls looked at Kaz, looked at each other, and back to Kaz. Amp shrugged and went back to her information destruction. Vibe increased her song once more to reinforce their control.
"It's all right," the latter remarked. The diminutive duo partially managed to keep the admiration out of their voices and attitudes.
Partially.
"So what else have go-OT?!"
Amp's inquiry came to a high-pitched halt, along with the subway train, and mixed with the squealing of brakes. Everyone, girls included, were thrown forward with the lurch. Two of the humans hit their heads on the poles, raising the unconscious count to three. The sudden jarring completely broke Vibe's concentration. So when the car abruptly started up again, everyone who was thrown the other way cried out in surprise for two reasons.
Make that three. From underneath Jordan Ashfield, LaDrina Donnely spotted Kaz, and let out a shriek high enough to hurt even the Vibe's ears.
Along with another sound. Laughter. Maniacal laughter.
Vibe pulled herself out from under the chattering people pile, anger writ on her petite features.
"Will someone please shut them up?" she snapped. In answer Amp sent a sharp burst of sound to the ears of those closest to her, rendering them either unconscious or in so much pain all they could do was whimper.
"What happened?" Amp hissed, then glared at Kaz. "Did you do that?"

“Of course there’s more.”
Indeed there was.
“Hope you don’t mind the cold.”
Amp watched the man's chilly acrobatics with mixed interests. On one hand, use of his mutation brought out the goofy boy in Sam. The grin on his face definitely reminded her of a kid, proud to show off his school art project. He may have been twenty-three, but his maturity level so far screamed 'teenager'.
On the other hand, maturity aside, she couldn't deny he had skill. A lake completely frozen, fully manipulated ice projectiles, and a life-sized fountain complete with animated figures.
Of those all, that last bit could present a problem. She could shatter ice, she knew. It was just a matter of finding the right pitch and pumping the vibrations hard enough. She'd need to visit her sister for a vibration refill just before she attack him, so she'd be sure to have enough juice for a kill. But if he could make small dancing figures, could he make larger ones? Larger chunks of ice took longer to crack, which gave less time for a counter attack.
She'd have to think on this a bit more before deciding when to snap the trap. In the meantime, a bit more bait never hurt the catch.
"They're beautiful, Sam! So cuuu.... aah.... aaahh.... CHOoo!!" A heavy sneeze left her mouth and nose. The force of it threw off her already precarious balance on the ice, and....

The compliment on her name seemed to put Cailyn at ease, finally. Though Vibe winced slightly at the pitch of the girl's voice. It didn't hurt, per se. But the extra pressure in her ears definitely qualified as 'uncomfortable'.
Her reply about the pillow was short and sweet.
"it's mine."
Vibe stared at the blond.
And stared some more.
Finally, "How nice for you," came out, in the most bland voice her electronic choker could manage.
She shook her head, shifted her clothes back to the front, and continued toward the laundry room. In an offhand, and totally uncaring manner, she added over her shoulder,

Amp resisted the urge to poke him in the nose when he bent down to her level. She had no issues with her height in regards to others, nor issues about remind people of that fact.
“Oh yea? How you gonna do that?”
She smirked, and crossed her arms. "I have ways." Let him think that she was only trying to look big and bad.
“So you wanted to know what else I could do right?” He stepped back, and held out a hand, his expression almost taunting. “Come on.”
"There's more?"
<"Do tell....">
She took his hand, and stepped lightly out onto the ice, wobbling a bit to regain her balance.

She didn't freeze this time when he placed a hand on her shoulder, since this time she was ready for it.
“Yeah this place is pretty but really? Didn’t think it would bring tears to your eyes.”
She chuckled. "Yeah, right. Me either."
“Maybe your more sensitive than I thought.”
She drew herself up to her full five-foot-three-inch height, and scowled up at six-foot him. "And if you tell anyone, I'm going to have to knock you off that icy high horse of yours."
The glare broke slightly as a smile peeked through the corners of her mouth.

"No where in particular. I'm just along for the ride."
The overall dullness in Kaz's voice made Vibe glance up. He had a pained look on his face, and she briefly wondered if her song hurt his ears. She remembered his hearing was quite keen.
"I see you girls have a few new tricks. That last one was a doosy."
Ah! So it hurt his mind, not his ears. She did her best not to laugh at him, though a smile did make an appearance.
"I tried to warn you." She narrowed her eyes slightly in concentration. It took more focus and thought to deliberately keep the melody from reaching his ears, but it was possible. She couldn't multitask as well, however, and had to scale her activities down to pilfering the simple cash and credit.
She tossed the phone to Amp, who traded for several wallets.
"Not one for mind games, huh?" Amp remarked passively. "Shame."
"Yeah, we've learned a few things," Vibe answered Kaz's remark. "Glad you like them. Got anything of your own, since we're playing Show'n'Tell?" she asked.
In the meantime, not being as limited as her sister, the shorter-haired twin began messing with their passengers in a more 'fun' way. She motioned one of the older men to her side.
"Name."
"Phineas Trinke."
"Ya married?"
"Yes."
She handed the phone back. "Go call your wife. Tell you want a divorce. Wait!" She motioned to a college-aged girl. "Name."
"LaDrina Donnely."
She turned back toward the man. "Tell your wife you've been cheating on her with LaDrina Donnely. Then go make out with her in the corner." She motioned at the girl. "You, too."
The pair obeyed, and Amp moved onto the next person, a crisply dressed businessman, and started rifling through his PalmPilot. "Jordan Ashfield. Mmm! Lunch with the boss at two. Discuss promotion, huh? Looks like you're gonna need a new job, Jordie Babe." She began typing out a text message to send to the listed cellphone number.

She could hear Sam following her.
“At least she made it out of there okay right? From my understanding there was a massive break out, right?”
"She got out. But.... she's not the same...." Vibe was telling her that all of the time. She was right.
Amp stopped walking, and simply stood still in the shadows.
"She never did tell me exactly what happened, but we're close enough that I could tell it was awful. After we got her back, she became kind of.... distant."
It always aided the performance when only half of the act was faked. This time, Amp had no trouble pushing out a couple of tears. She sniffed, and wiped them away, then turned back to him.
"I'm sorry, Sam. I didn't mean to snap at you like that. I guess I've just been on edge lately." She smiled at him. "This place really is pretty. I hope I didn't ruin it for you."
"That's one hell of an entrance. Kinda makes ya feel important."
Vibe rolled her eyes at her sister. >Show off,< she remarked silently. Amp turned and stuck her tongue out, before returning to her search.
"You two haven't been cooped up in Sanc have you?"
She shrugged. "Not really. But there hasn't been much time for fun lately."
"Shall we? Your sister looks bored."
"Nah," she retorted as she took the outstretched hand. "If she was bored, she'd have walked out in the middle of rush hour traffic. We're just having some fun."
Reaching the platform below, Vibe matched her sister's roving glance. While the majority of the subway-goers had fled the area, she could feel the approach of another train. She grinned at Kaz.
"Ever gotten lost on the subway before? Its a blast!"
"Incoming! Amp alerted at the same time, and moved off to the side.
"Uh, might want to plug your ears a bit. You can read lips, right?" was all of the warning Vibe gave Kaz as the train ground to a stop, and opened its doors. Standing by the head of the vehicle when it stopped, Vibe thrust her hand out, sending out a concentrated stream of vibrations, crafted into an audible, haunting melody.
"Everyone freeze," Amp commanded, amplifying her voice without shouting. It appeared that everyone was either human, or mutants with no resistance to mental molding, for they all obeyed instantly, even the subway driver. The petite redhead smirked. "Excellent."
She began wandering among the crowd, while Vibe moved forward to the conductor's booth. It appeared the train's route would take them right under Times Square.
"If I tapped your shoulder, hop back on the train, front car," Amp announced. "If not, get out of here." A group of about twenty returned to the vehicle, while the others began filing out. Amp waved to Kaz.
"Hurry up! Next train'll be coming soon!"
Once he was aboard and the doors hissed closed, Vibe told the driver to get moving, and not to stop at any more station until he was told to. Then she returned to the cabin. Picking one of the men, she ordered him to give her his phone and wallet, then to sit.
"So," she asked Kaz, and perched on the hypnotized man's lap, "any place particular you want to head?"
Amp took a similar seat, ordering the passengers to form a line, and begin handing over their phones, wallets, check books, and dayplanners. The hypno-song continued to fill the car with a steady thrum.

Amp automatically stiffened when Sam pulled her into a hug, and her arms came up to push him away.
“Don’t cry.”
Oh right. Sappy. Work the sap....
She forced herself to relax, leaving her hands on his arms.
“Not everyone hates mutants, just a large amount hate us.”
"I know. But its still not right," she replied quietly. She squelched the urge to shudder as he released her, and kept her eyes groundward to be safe.
“So I now have an idea why you seem a little cold sometimes, must have bee tough growing up like that.”
"You have no idea." She didn't have to fake the bitterness in her voice. Though she turned and added sheepishly, "I mean.... well.... I guess you probably do."
She shrugged, and started walking along the water's edge, arms crossed across her chest.
"Typical stuff, I guess. Other kids teasing, pulling nasty pranks and the like. Vandalized the house, treated us all like outcasts. Then Registration. That was a nightmare...."
A nightmare that never left her alone. Ugh.... why had she brought that back to mind? She shuddered visibly, and rubbed her arms.

"You don't see, see."
Vibe continued to stare at the girl. She blinked, then replied, "Sorry kid. Not sure what you consider 'seeing', but my eyes work just fine."
Maybe she meant something having to do with psychics, or some other mental mumbo-jumbo. Either way, she was doing a fantastic job of convincing the redhead that she was a nutcase.
When asked her name, she looked at a loss for a few moments. Finally she came up with, "Cailyn, They called me Cailyn."
"Hm. Not a bad name, actually. Well, I'd offer to shake your hand," she lied, "but mine are kinda full, obviously."
Vibe shifted her weight to her other foot. "What's with the pillow?"

The girl nodded, and Vibe wondered passively who had brought her in. Physically she looked near the redhead's age, though sometimes it was hard to tell with petite people.
The pillow hugging certainly made her appear childlike.
"How do you see me?"
The long-haired sonic gave the girl a look.
"Uh, because I'm looking right at you." She didn't add, 'Duh', but that was the impression given. She shifted her weight to one foot. If she would have had a free hand, it would have been placed on her hip.
"If you're supposed to be an invisibility mutant, you need a bit more practice, kid."
She nodded her head once. "What's your name, half-pint?"
