The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Vibe sat at a computer tapping away. She'd grown rather addicted to online shopping over the past months. It didn't compare to actual shopping, as online required that you actually pay for your purchases. But the sheer size of the selections made it worth the inconvenience.
Amp leaned back in her chair, propped against the wall. While her sister browsed the cyber-mall, she perused through random magazines shoe catalogs. She saw Issie enter, and briefly waved at her before the be-ribboned blond disappeared among the shelves.
Finally she yawned, and stretched, placing her hands behind her head against the wall.
"Are you done yet?" Amp complained. "I'm bored!"
>Almost done,< came the silent answer. >Just need some bling to spice up this dress.<
"Then let's go find something. Ya know, outside?"
>'kay. Just let me print out a picture then, so I can compare.<
Amp let her head hit the wall with a soft thump!"Then hurry up! Imma start growing cobwebs if we sit here too much longer."
>Ew! Hello? Cobwebs? As in spiders and spider babies? Right. <
The printer whirred to life, and Vibe reached over with a satisfied smirk. >Finished!<
"Finally." Amp all but hoped to her feet. "Let's go!" She tapped her foot impatiently.

As Vibe left the store, her cellphone began ringing with Barenaked Ladies' song 'Shopping'. She flipped it open with one hand, answering with a slightly bored tone.
“Viola Enders, Personal Shopper. Give me your list, your budget and your credit card number.”
“Seriously, are people actually gullible enough to give you their credit card number?”
Vibe closed her eyes, and sighed. “This is a business Amp. I don’t steal from my clients.”
“Right. You can’t tell me that you don’t skim off the top, at the very least. Not unless you’ve changed more than I gave you credit for.” The voice on the other end of the line snorted, and Vibe replied in like.
“Cute, Sis. Really cute. What do you want, Amp?”
“Aww, Vibe, you hurt my feelings. You’re my sister? What makes you think I want anything other than to talk with my best friend?”
“Because I know you haven’t changed.”
“That hurts Vibe. That cut me to the quick.”
“Amp, I’m on a schedule here." Vibe held up her wrist to check her watch. "I don’t have time for your games. Get to the point. What’d’ya want?”
“Pfft! You’re no fun anymore. Fine, be that way. I need a refill.”
“A refill? It hasn’t even been two weeks!”
“What can I say? Order’s been..... busy.”
“Busy. Right.”
“Don’t shoot me attitude, Vibe. You’re the one who left without any explanation.”
Vibe glowered darkly. She placed on hand on her hip, and began tapping her foot angrily.
“You want an explanation? I grew up. I got tired of playing ‘Cops and Robbers’, of constantly being shot at and chased down. Seeing my face on the ‘Most Wanted’ list got old after the first hundred times. Remember, we couldn’t walk out of the Sanctuary or in the Park without someone going, ‘Aren’t those the Twins the police are looking for?” Vibe’s voice took on a high, mocking tone. ” ‘Yeah, that’s them. Let’s turn them in for a reward.’ Please.”
“As if they could. A little shock to the ears, an hit to the throat, problem solved.”
“And I got tired with there being a problem, Amp!" she all but shouted. "It was stupid. We had no life.”
“You could have any guy you wanted, especially with that hypno-song. And we had whatever we wanted, and didn’t have to ask for it. We had the power to take it. Why would you walk away from that?”
“I grew up.” Vibe snapped. She rolled her eyes. ”Just forget it. I’m gonna be at Macy’s for an hour. If you want a refill, you’d better be there, because I’m not waiting around for you.”
Vibe snapped the phone closed, and stalked to her bright green VW Bug. As she passed a street lamp, the bulb began to vibrate spastically, and exploded, raining glass shards on the panicked sidewalkers.

"Yes I'm sure....Unless you invite him too."
Vibe gave Kaz a a sideways, narrow-eyed glance that obviously said, 'Yeah right'.
"Woah...t'was a compliment my dear Amp. A compliment. Don't melt my face."
"I know." The shorter-haired twin smirked, and went back to her people-watching.
"If it was you two stalking me, I don't think I'd have a problem with it. Abyss has always had my cell number, Syn too I believe. I'm surprised you didn't think to ask him."
"We shouldn't have had to ask," Vibe retorted, accepting her cellphone back.
"Before you ask why I left...I don't really have an answer. Not one that I'm clear on myself at least."
"Oh?" It never really crossed her mind to ask why Kaz had left. The longer-haired twin had assumed it was because of his girlfriend at the time. She'd been pretty jealous about it, too, until she got to know Nicki a bit better during Registration. Finding out that he wasn't sure why he'd left came as a surprise.
"Yup, just a bit lost."
"Lost?" Vibe frowned in confusion. But before she could ask what he meant, he flipped back to her with another question of his own.
"What about you two?"
Vibe pursed her mouth to answer, but Amp cut in. "We're fabulous, as always," she said, grinning impishly. "And about to get even better. Check it."
The petite redhead pushed through a crowd of people headed into a subway tunnel and made her way down. She paused just before the token booth to wait for her sister and Kaz. Once they caught up, she smirked, and placed her hands on her hips. The ground rumbled a bit beneath their feet. Assuming it to be one of the trains, most of the subway-goers ignored the noise at first.
Until the concrete began cracking underfoot. Amp pointed, down the stairs, and a wave of buckling ground followed her gesture. The barristers were knocked off of their foundations, and the crowd split apart, fearing an earthquake collapsing the tunnel.
With a devilish sneer, Amp sat on the banister and slid down to the next floor. She looked around in a bored manner, trying to spot some mischief to get into.

The girl tried to move out of the way, and ended up on the floor instead. Vibe rolled her eyes. She twisted the clothes out of the way, and looked down at the girl, hugging her pillow.
She couldn't understand the fear in the blond youth's blue eyes, and quirked an eyebrow at her.
"What's the matter, kid? Never seen someone lugging laundry around before?"
It was hard to see anything behind the pillow, but Vibe still gave her a skeptical, head-to-toe once over.
"New 'round here, aren't ya?"
She didn't look like an obvious mutant, but she had to be if she was here.

A door opened further down the hallway, and Vibe stepped out, holding a mound of clothing in her arms nearly larger than her. She pulled the door shut, almost, with her foot, and began making her way toward the laundry room. Because the mound obscured her vision, she sent out numerous waves of supersonic calls, like a bat, so she wouldn't bump into anyone.
Her echoes bounced back the shape of someone standing in her way, and no one she knew.
"Clear the hall, newbie, or get run over."
She really didn't intend to come off threatening, but she didn't feel much like indulging in any social graces with a new resident at the moment. Besides, the other person was maybe an inch or two taller than she was. A collision might land both of them on their butts, which Vibe wasn't in the mood for.
As she drew closer, she made out the shape of a girl, holding a pillow. Must be a kid.

Though it didn't actually bother her, Sam's whistle sounded considerably more high-pitched to Amp's sensitive ears.
“This is why I wanted to know how you felt about mutants.”
Still glowering, she paused and turned around to see him standing in the middle of the lake. And here she thought she was being overly dramatic.
Pulling on a surprised jaw-drop, she turned around and walked back to the lake, stopping at the edge. She reached down to touch the cold water, and set a set of supersonic vibrations out. They bounced back to her, confirming the ice beneath his feet.
She stood up and pointed. "So you're.... and that's why you asked?" It was hard to fake a blush, so she was glad it was too dark to see clearly. She dipped her head, and rubbed one arm guiltily.
"Oh. I.... guess I owe you an apology. Sorry...."
She looked around, and took a few steps back. "I didn't mean to bite your head off. Its just.... my sister is a mutant." No lie there. "And everyone seems to hate mutants these days." Again, no lie, and no faking the bitterness in her voice. "It's just not fair." Tears would be overkill, so go for the shiny eyes instead.
<"C'mon sappy story. Time to bait the line."> she thought.

The girls reacted to the little reptile’s hissing laughter by dodging away.
”You sure he won’t bite?” Vibe asked. Eyes on the little creature, she forgot to move her mouth along with the words coming from her choker.
"I should have known. Still a couple of little troublemakers."
”You were expecting something different?” Amp shook her head. ”Not in this world.” Her statement came out slightly acidic, a hint of malice shining through.
"It's good to see you two again. Sure I'll join ya. I could go for some entertainment."
” “Great! Let’s go!” “ Like kids, each of the girls took one of Kaz’s arms and tugged him toward the giant golden doors. Vibe glanced backwards and up, shoulders hunched slightly in anticipation of his ‘pet’ flying down to join them.
Outside, the began walking, chatting as they did. Actually, Vibe did most of the talking, while Amp simply watched and listened. Her eyes roved the sidewalks, taking in the various people passing by.
”You know, I’m still mad at you for disappearing without an explanation,” Vibe accused him. ”Not even phone number! You could have at least left that. What, didja think we were gonna stalk you or something?” She held out her phone, prompting him fix such a grievous error.
Then, more kindly, she asked, "You surviving all right?"
“Yep. As luck would have it when I first came to New York a few years ago I thought that this park was the perfect place to walk around. One thing led to another and I found this place. I used to come her all the time but… this has been the first time I have been here in a year.”
”Why wait so long, if its so special?” she asked, and turned to study him. She saw him look at her strangely, almost frowning, and reacted with a frown of her own. ”What? What’s wrong?”
“So how do you feel about mutants?”
Perhaps because she was being sneaky herself, she hadn’t expected him to come right and ask like that. She’d already planned on having to weasel her way into uncovering his capabilities. Her expression showed her surprise, though it would be easy to misinterpret, given the circumstances. She looked away quickly, trying to gather her thoughts and decide on a plan of action.
”Mutants? I dunno.” She reached down and picked at the grass. ”I guess.... I think they’re just.... I dunno. Misunderstood.” She remained nearly motionless for a few moments. Then all at once, balled her fist and struck the ground.
”This is stupid. Why does every conversation have to have something to do with who likes mutants and who doesn't?” she growled quietly, running her free hand through her copper hair. ”I’m not playing this game. It shouldn’t matter what I think of mutants.” She stood up and glared at Sam. ”They’re people just like everyone else. If you’re prejudiced against them, that’s your problem, not mine. I’m not gonna be a part of it. I’m outta here.”
She turned to head back the way they’d come, secretly hoping he wouldn’t let her get much further than a few steps. If he let her walk away, it would complicate things. She could still work with it, but it would be difficult.
Amp smirk, then stuck her tongue out at her sister childishly.
"Oh yes...a lot of fun. I just wish I could remember it. Abyss told me y'all had some noobs around here. I guess they're not too fun then huh. Just a boring place without me here."
"Don't flatter yourself." Vibe hrrmphed, and crossed her arms.
Truth be told, of the two of them, she'd missed him the most. She was over the crush, and had moved on to him being a big brother, like Abyss. And, naturally, big brothers were in existence to be tortured mercilessly by their little sisters.
"So what sort of fun were ya thinking of?"
" "The destructive kind." " Amp added. "What other kind is there?"
Vibe twirled a lock of her copper hair around on finger in a bored manner. "No kidding. Property damage, mind warping, cause a bit of physical pain. You know." She grinned wolfishly. "Wanna join?"
"Ahh, yeah, him. This is Demi. He's harmless...mostly. Kinda like a very independent and intelligent cat."
The girls watched the little creature warily as it stretched out its wings. Especially Vibe. She didn't like animals. She really didn't like cats, and comparing that thing to a cat wasn't winning it any favor in her eyes.
"I guess you could say he's my pet....kinda. He won't bite."
"Huh," was the most the longer-haired twin would say about it.
They both watched the reptilish creature crawl up the wall. They moved sideways to avoid standing under its new perch, not bothering to hide their suspicion.
"Long time, no see. How've you two been? And what did I interrupt?"
Satisfied that they were out of striking range, Amp and Vibe moved to give Kaz a hug, one on either side.
" "We're good," " they chorused. Then Amp continued, pouting, "And you haven't missed a thing. It's boring around here. Buncha people coming and going, but nobody worth torturing."
Vibe shook her head. "Ignore her. She just sore because the new bloods are all busy. We were just about to go out and have some fun in the city instead." She reached up and traced the line of one of the scars on his face, and snickered. "Looks like you've had your own fun, without us. How rude is that?"
Amp let her ears keep her on track as she followed Sam through the park. Her mind wandered among the overabundant couples they passed. They passed one pair standing near a fountain, slowly moving in toward each other for a kiss. Amp paused and knelt down to mess with the strap on her shoe. Moments later a small concussion blast shot through the ground, erupting under the man's feet. His arms flew out and away to catch himself, but only succeed in pulling his date into the fountain after him.
Amp straightened and hurried to catch up to Sam again, a satisfied smirk on her face.
The lights became few and far between, adding to the general dimness as the sunlight also faded. She felt Sam stop, and probably could have avoided it, but decided not to tip him off as to her own mutation. She bumped into him, holding her arms out to balance.
“Alright where almost there, no I got to ask you to keep this place a secret if everyone knew about it wouldn’t be a special as it normally is.”
She simply nodded. She'd decide whether to keep the promise or not later.
Although now dark, she had no problems seeing where they were going, thanks to supersonic echolocation. She watched him seemingly wander around, unsure of his own heading. So far she saw nothing that qualified as 'special.' Trees here, bush there. An unpleasant wet smell in the air. Whoop-de-doo.
Finally a bit of light broke through, and she suddenly had to pick up her pace to keep up with him.
“Where here, let me know what you think.”
Okay, time to earn that Emmy....
Amp plastered an appropriately awed look as she took in the somewhat cliche' scene. Though she had to admit, the moon on the water was beautiful, and she said as much aloud.
She sat on the ground next to Sam as he lay on his back, craning her neck up to look at the stars.
>Why in the world would you want to buy a car? New York is a sardine can.<
"Not if you know how to navigate the right way."
>Navigate? You mean play bumper cars?<
"Maybe. Sounds like fun."
>So does bungee jumping. So what's your point?<
Amp shook her head and glanced ceiling-ward. She continued shuffling through the packet of papers in her hand. Each page consisted of a picture of a vehicle, all of its relevant information, and prices. Vibe followed her through the hallways, looking through her own catalog filled, more predictably, with clothes, shoes and jewelry.
The pair made their way up the stairs toward the main lobby. They weren't actually headed out to shop, for once, but rather to see what trouble they could get into. Life had become a bit boring as of late. It was time to shake things up a bit. While Isabel enjoyed playing with the Badges, the Twin preferred to see how much mischief they could get into before they arrived.
The pair reached the top of the stairs, and rounded the corner into the foyer, just in time to hear a familiar voice.
"Is anyone home at the moment, or are they out causing a ruckus?"
Lisa opened her mouth to answer. Instead a simultaneous exclamation came from behind her desk.
" "Kaz!!" "[/i]
Lisa cocked one eyebrow, as if to say, 'Does that answer your question?', then went back to whatever she'd been doing.
The copper-headed duo hurried up to their friend, but skidded to a halt several feet away, Vibe behind her sister, chin just above Amp's shoulder. Both wore a wary and incredulous expression. Amp pointed, but they both chorused aloud.
<"Where'd that depressed look come from?"> Amp wondered silently, a tad baffled.
“That two, is my secret for the time being, it’s going to be a surprise, I think you might like it or, you’ll think I am a complete sap. Either way we should have some fun tonight.”
She'd already pegged him as the mushy, sentimental type, though that sudden gloomy grimace had thrown her a bit. It took conscious effort not to roll her eyes. Instead she simply followed him toward Central Park. She had no clue what he had in mind, but wasn't worried about any trouble yet.
(OOC: Sorry it's short. Feel free to gmod a bit if need be.)

“Amanda I don’t know what you’re talking about. I admit I can be a little cold when I have a few drinks in me, but I hope I wasn’t to mean to you.”
"That's not what I meant."
She had the luxury of knowing he was playing dumb. Unfortunately, she didn't have the luxury of pressing him out of it. She could live with that. It would come out eventually, if not willingly on his part, then conivingly on her part.
The waiter returned, and she sighed. "Nevermind. It's no big deal." She pocketed her card and stood. "So, where to now? You weren't very specific what you wanted to do tonight, other than dinner."

“No offense taken at all, I usually go for the tough girls that attract the jerky guys.”
Amp snorted. It wasn't the most original pick up line, but definitely not the worst she'd heard.
“You look like your ready to go I’m ready when every you are.”
She sighed, still playing the depression card, and pushed the half-empty plate away. "Sure, I guess."
While waiting for the waiter to run her card, she shifted in her chair.
"Um, Sam? I've got a question for you. I guess. Yesterday, when we dropped you off, I thought I saw something.... Or, someone?" She snuck a hesitant waver into her voice. "And at the club, you were awfully, well.... cold...."
She bit her lip, and pushed a lock of copper curl behind her ear.
