The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Cailyn's tray dropped, spilling her cereal and shattering the bowl. Vibe skipped sideways to avoid the mess.
"That was mine." The blond girl looked about to start weeping. However, the redheaded sonic was focused on other things.
Like Cailyn's feet beginning to lift off of the floor, and the strange song seeming to come from everywhere. Being especially sensitive to sound, Vibe noticed the melody a half-beat faster than anyone else. It made the hair on her neck and arms stand on end.
"That was mine."
Blythe began screaming, and jumping around, and Vibe quickly jumped out of the way. She couldn't see what Blythe was screaming about. Given their earlier conversation, the petite sonic assumed that Cailyn was messing with the girl's mind somehow.
But where was that singing coming from? It sounded like something out of the Hunchback of Notre Dame. She shuddered, and rubbed at her arm.
The commotion naturally drew the attention of others. One of Blythe's companions stepped forward toward Cailyn.
"Knock it off, Blondie!" He raised a fist to punch at her. Vibe reacted first, and sent her own hypnotic melody directly toward the boy's ears.
"Freeze!" she ordered in a low voice. He did so, arm still cocked to hit, blinking dully.
Amp took the drink and downed half a glass in one gulp.
“I mean this is usually you say to your boyfriend right?”
"You didn't ask," she snapped in reaction to his anger. Her eyes turned downward guiltily.
The refined sugar reacted quickly in her body, and sent much needed carbs into her system to restore the imbalance. While the juice did its job, she pulled her knees up to her chin on the bed, and wrapped her arms around them. She looked at the far wall sullenly.
"I didn't want to you to think I was handicapped, or something...." she lied quietly.

“Okay.”
Amp felt him lift her onto his back, and she hung on as tightly as she could.
“Odds are if you remember me having you piggy back so close to your home, once your better you’ll probably rough me up a bit. Which is fine with me cause that would mean your better.”
"Heh. You know it," she replied, her words a bit slurred.
The reached her apartment quickly, and he took her into the bedroom. Again, she wasn't worried about him trying to take advantage of her weakened state. She learned enough about him to know he was too nice.
“you want some food or something?”
"Juice.... Need sugar...." Her low blood sugar had her acting as if she were drunk, or high, which was just what she wanted.
She reached for the nightstand beside the bed, and a little black case sitting there. She fumbled to get it open, revealing a diabetic glucometer inside. Her hands shook as she fitted the needle into the pen-shaped contraption that draw blood, so she could test her blood sugar level.
The monitor beeped just as Sam returned, announcing 'fifty-eight' in big black letters. She blinked, then looked at Sam, her eyes totally unfocused..

(OOC: I'm going to throw a bit of conflict in, so Cailyn can have some fun with her powers. Feel free to control the NPC however you'd like.
Vibe shook her head at the girl as she regarded her new toy. Cailyn may have looked eighteen, but she acted eight. And since Vibe still didn't understand or trust what she could do, the redhead had no choice but to plaster a smile on her face and hope for the best.
"Found something ya like, eh? Is cereal all you're gonna eat? Here. Try these."
She reached for a plate of strawberries and whipped cream.
"Hey! I wanted those!"
The petite sonic turned to glare as one of the other residents, a tall girl with short, spiky hair and all kinds of piercings in her ears, lip and nose, tried to beat her to the fruit. Vibe was faster, and set the prize on Cailyn's plate.
"Get your own, Blythe," she snapped.
"You bet I will." The taller girl reached out and snatched the bowl off of Cailyn's tray, and made a face at Vibe. Then, just to make her point, she reached out again and grabbed the little toy car as well. Blythe's fist doubled in size, and she crunched the toy into a crumpled ball.
"Welcome to the Sanctuary, Blondie. Next time, remember to bring a toll, not a toy," she sneered.

"That one."
Vibe glanced backwards, and saw Cailyn pointing toward a kiddie cereal box. She nodded toward it.
"Go ahead, grab it. Milk's over by the drinks." She pointed the direction. Surely she didn't expect Vibe to serve her. This was a buffet, and the redhead wasn't wearing an apron.
She moved on, and filled a plate with bacon and ham, and a small serving of potatoes. Then she headed for the orange juice dispenser. With her tray full, she turned to look for Cailyn, half expecting the girl to have picked up several cereal boxes.

“Amanda, Amanda! What’s wrong? Somebody get some help!”
Amp shook her head vigorously, and squeezed his arm around her.
"No! I'm okay. Really." She frowned, her vision still blurred. "Just.... want to go home."
She made another attempt to stand up again. She made it to her feet, barely.
"Please."
He knew where she lived, she didn't worry about that. It was just a matter of putting enough urgency in her tone, but staying on her feet long enough, to keep him from calling for medical help. She even took a few shaky steps away, just to make the point.

"Breakfast?"
The mention of food seemed to elicit a positive response away from 'them'. That sufficed for Vibe, for now.
"This way then, Cailyn." She paused, then added, "Don't forget your pillow...."
She led the way out of the laundry room, turned down another hall, checking every now and then to be sure the girl was following. Although nothing special when compared to Mondragon Labs, the Sanctuary might have seemed like a maze to newcomers, though it really wasn't. But most of the hallways looked the same, making it hard to find your way if you didn't have a guide.
Still, even if you got lost, it would be easy to find the Cafeteria; the smells wafted on the air a long ways away. Vibe led Cailyn directly to the covered buffet line, which currently held a mix of breakfast and lunch foods.
"Here." She handed the girl a tray. "Dig in."
Going ahead to show her, Vibe began reaching for various plates and bowls of eatables, starting with a bowl of fresh peaches with cottage cheese. Using her fingers, she popped a piece of fruit in her mouth.
"What'd'ya like, 'lyn?" she inquired around the mouthful.

"You don't like what i do."
Vibe kept the smile pasted on her face.
"I still don't know what you do, kid," she replied, attempting at a lighthearted remark.
"Silly me."
Time for a subject change.
"Well, whatever. No bid deal. So, you're new, eh? Did Abyss get around to giving you a tour? If not, I'm hungry, and the cafeteria's pretty close. Ya hungry?"
Maybe the promise of food would distract the girl away from.... well, whatever or whoever was feeding her ideas.

Amp's hand was shaking when Sam handed her bag back.
“ 'manda...." She soooo hated that nickname. "....if your not feeling well you should have just called me, no reason in pushing your self…”
She hadn't told him she was diabetic, so he likely had no idea what was happening to her. She could have easily ordered a glass of orange juice and be perfectly fine in a few minutes. But that's not what she wanted. She wanted him to worry, to see what he thought was a weaker side.
"Don't worry, it's nothing. Really." She smiled. "I'll just go back. To my apartment. Just need.... rest...." As she moved to stand, she started to sway, and her legs threatened to collapse from under her. She reached out for where she thought Sam was standing.

"They don't want anybody to know." And then Cailyn promptly became enthralled with the spinning laundry.
"Oookay....." Vibe stared at the girl. The smallest things seemed to fascinate her, like a kitten, or puppy. A very unbalanced puppy that heard voices.
The girl forgot about the machine and looked back at the redhead.
"you don't like me."
Until she knew for sure the nature of this kid's powers, the last thing Vibe wanted her to think was that she didn't like her. Just in case.
"What makes you say that? How can I not like you if I don't even know you? I'm just irritated that I have to do all of this work, is all."
She balked at her own decision, but Vibe forced herself to smile a bit at Cailyn.

Amp leaned back slightly as he pecked her on the cheek. The edges of her vision were blurred, while the center seemed to be swaying slightly. She guessed she must have dropped more than five points during that trek.
He noticed right away something was wrong, which she found surprising. In her experience, you had to be all but fainting before men noticed something wasn't right.
“You feeling okay Amanda? You don’t look to well.”
"I'm okay," she replied, a bit of a waver in her voice. "Just tired, I think. Didn't sleep much last night. How 'bout you?"
She reached for her bag, slung on the back of the chair. "I got something for you a few days ago, but kept forgetting to give it you. Hang on."
She was having trouble with the strap. Finally it slipped off and fell to the ground. She reached for it, and nearly overbalanced off of her seat. She had to grab at the table to keep from falling. She blinked several times.
"On second thought, maybe I'm not feeling so great...." She gave Sam an apologetic look. "I'm sorry. Maybe I'd better take a rain check today...."

Vibe eyed the girl with increasing distrust. She was weird, for sure. Most people didn't simply curl up on the floor in the middle of the day, or in the middle of a conversation. Pain was writ all over Cailyn's face.
"I don't know. They just tell me."
" 'They'? 'They', who?"
The young sonic felt a chill run down her spine. What if the girl was a telepath? Mind readers creeped Vibe and her sister out, with the exception of one of her friends. The pair were used to hearing each other, though their abilities didn't stem from any form of telepathy or psychic connections.
But having someone else eavesdrop on their thoughts?

<"Definitely a kid at heart,"> Amp thought to herself, seeing Sam's beaming expression. It took effort not to snerk at him. He was so clueless, it was funny.
“I’m glad you had fun, so it’s safe to say I’ll be expecting a call from you soon right?”
Again, she had to work to keep her cool. Honestly, he was just making this way too easy.
She tried to mix a bit of shyness and eagerness into her smile, while maintaining her 'toughness' by crossing her arms.
"Maybe. The phone works both ways, ya know." The invitation couldn't have been more obvious, and she had no doubt he would snap it up.
The pair of them headed back toward the street, leaving the 'snow show' behind. Despite the light-hearted chatter on the way, Amp's mind began assimilating what she was up against.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some time passed, and Amp had learned quite a bit more about Sam through numerous lunch and dinner dates. At first she enjoyed acting the giddy girlfriend, and she had to admit that he made a fairly decent boyfriend. But after two weeks, the copper-headed woman was reaching her limit of 'cutsey couple' nonsense. She'd found out, from him, as much about his mutation as his former employers knew, plus a couple things they didn't. Taking him out would be difficult, but not totally undoable. And the sooner, the better. But there was still one thing she needed to establish firmly, before she could make her attempt.
Her vulnerability. Something she'd prepared to exhibit at their lunch date this afternoon.
She was due to meet Sam at noon, in little a street cafe around the corner and within easy walking distance from her rented apartment. She'd woken up at seven that morning, had one piece of toast and a glass of water, and hadn't eaten since then. She'd tested her blood sugar once an hour, sipping just a bit of orange juice at time. The regime had left her sugar at a lovely low of seventy-one. She knew her body well; a drop of five or more points would leave her both dizzy and with blurred vision. And dropping those five points could easily be achieved by jogging the block to the cafe.
By the time Sam arrived, Amp sat at one of the tables outside. Her skin was paler than normal, and her eyes were having trouble focusing. She still attempted to smile when he approached.
"No, but I intend to find out who or what did."
"Not without me!" Amp scrambled to her feet to follow him. "Keep us moving."
Vibe nodded and once more began sending out the soothing, mind-warping harmony through out the car. Those that were not already unconscious soon fell quiet.
"Sleep." She sent the order directly to the ears of those still awake and able to hear. She wasn't sure such a suggestion would continued to be obeyed once she let up, but it was worth a shot. That way she could focus her energy on the train conductor, and still keep up with Amp via echolocation. She ignored the whines of those unable to hear anymore, thanks to Amp's earlier blast.
Meanwhile Amp struggled to get the door open. She wasn't sure if it was her size or something Kaz had done, but either way, it wouldn't budge. The red-eyed shape-shifter was still a speed demon, and she could hear his faint steps scuttling along up top, like a spider.
"Show off," she grumbled.
She grabbed at one of the poles when the train lurched again, keeping her feet this time, and reached the door of the next car.
>I can see someone in the car after that one,< Vibe's silent voice reached her sister. >A woman. She's wobbling around, like she drun- Whoa!<
Amp picked up on the series of explosions at the same time as her sister. The lights in the car had exploded, followed closely by the door connecting the two cabins.
Eyes narrowed, Amp pulled her hand away from the door handle. She slipped in between the seats and peeked through the windows. She could just barely make out a blond head on the other end of the door at the opposite end. She reached out to find Kaz again; he was approaching from the back of the train, via the roof. That put the blond in between the two of them.
"Do you have enough energy to forward me your sound map, Sis?"
>Yes, but not for long. Better make it quick, or we'll have to make a quick exit at the next stop.<
Amp nodded. "Do it. And keep your head down." Obeying her own advice, she crouched down out of sight. A moments later a picture began to form in her mind, of the train car in front of her. Anything or anyone entering she'd be able to see, as clearly as if she were using her eyes. And that would allow her to direct her attacks without being seen.
"1 out of 7."
Cailyn may have been speaking to herself, but Vibe's sensitive ears picked up on the words easily.
"Yep. That's him," she replied, still shoving at the pile. "But don't fool yourself into thinking they're all the same."
She finally got the clothes in, followed by too much laundry soap, shut the lid and flipped the machine on. When she turned back, the girl had dropped her pillow, and was holding her head in her hands. Pain contorted her face. Vibe quirked on eyebrow and leaned back slightly.
"What's wrong with you?" Reflexively she spread her senses a bit further than normal, trying to find some sort of threat beyond the walls of the room. She couldn't feel any physical threats, however.
"Amplified , vibration," the girl whispered softly.
A frown creased Vibe's face. "What do you mean by that?"
Both of the Sonic sisters emitted slight ripples into the air, as a result of their bones constantly vibrating. But unless the girl was highly, highly sensitive, or had a sound-oriented mutation of her own, she shouldn't be able to pick up on the ripples. If the latter were the case, Vibe should have been able to feel the soundwaves in return, which she didn't.
