The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

.... What happened? So many people had signed up for this, I started it... and nothing. Did I make a mistake with the first post of the thread that made everyone change their minds?
*sigh* doesn't matter now though. Since I'm going on a week long trip in about two weeks, starting a massive thread right now isn't a good idea.
When the malachite spike had manage to nail Aura, Alex could both see the pain and feel the malachite spike pierce her. When ever his malachite pierced flesh, it felt similar to when you push your finger through raw meat... and Alex hated that feeling. He knew for a fact that he had just done some damage to Aura, and more then he meant to. Even as his malachite katana was deflected off of Aura's own sword, Alex started to slow down since he had down more then he had meant to. He just wanted to teach her a lesson, but that stab wound with that spike he just made could leave her crippled, even if it wasn't bleeding that much. As Alex saw his opponent back up, he noticed that his malachite katana had a few cracks in it where it had collided with Aura's sword. Even though his malachite was seemingly stronger then her power, the green gemstone that he held in his hand couldn't stand up too long against steel... not without repairs that is.
As Aura spoke about her growing up on a battlefield, the handle of the malachite katana started to glow green. The glow moved away from the handle and into the blade of the katana and highlighted the cracks in the sword... and then the cracks seemed to melt away as the glow faded. Alex had used his fusion ability to repair his weapon. Once that was done, Alex lifted his malachite encased lower left arm, showing the blood covered spike on it. It wasn't a pleasant sight, seeing her bright red blood dripping off of the bright green spike. "You know how to shut out pain, I'll give you that." Alex stated dryly, then gazed into Aura's eyes.
"But if you're gonna use that sword, you better learn to make it a part of you. It's not a tool, but an extension of you." Alex stated as he aimed his katana in her direction. As he did so, dozens of small spike grew out of the blade's razor edge, and they started to rotate along the blade's edge like a chainsaw, though without the sound of the chainsaw's motor. "And I have great doubts you'll enjoy my aggressive side. I am not looking forward to that blood bath if it comes." Alex stated just before his chainsaw katana turned back into a normal katana... which was followed by the blade rapidly growing in length and darting past Aura's neck. Alex's intent was to just give her a tiny cut on the right side of her neck and cut off a lock of her hair. Alex was quietly praying that Aura didn't move wrong when he did this, or she could end up getting her head cut off. The malachite quickly started to retract afterward the weapon had extended a foot passed Aura. Alex was still only trying to drive her backwards away from his shop. This fight was already getting ugly.
Sorry for my sudden five day absence! I was working on digging up my lawn with my father in order to reseed the whole lawn when we ripped apart our internet cable by mistake. As a master electrician, Dad insisted on fixing it himself. It might have taken forever to fix, but we saved a large bundle of money.
Alex sat in the basement of his shop, relaxing in his brand new recliner with a glass of pomegranate lemonade in his hand. It had been a long day in his pottery shop, and he was glad it was over. Ranging from a child thinking it would be fun to toss a pot in the air to watch it shatter when it hit the ground, to a man that wanted a vase at half price because he claimed to be a relative of Alex, to some people wanting his autograph on the sculpture that they were buying because of what he did for a charity event a few weeks ago. Needless to say, it's always nice to kick back and relax after a hard day's work... though living in the basement of where you worked wasn't exactly pleasant, but it was cheaper then renting an apartment.
After taking a sip of his drink, Alex turned on his television set and turned to the evening news to see a female reporter in her mid-thirties with bleach blond hair and freckles, talking about the charity event that Alex had helped out with. "This is Sasha Rogers, reporting from the American Cancer Society, where a auction has been held to raise money and awareness of cancer within young children. The auction went over smoothly, raising 3.7 million dollars and every single penny is going to help cancer patients." Sasha stated before the camera shifted positions and zoomed in on several of the objects that had been up for auction. "Some of the objects that went on auction ranged from leather bound novels that were autographed, antique automobiles, one of a kind baseball cards, and even a few civil war era rifles. However the prize piece that was up for auction was this; a life size, hand made, clay statue of the goddess Aphrodite." The camera panned over to the statue that had been the hit of the auction. "The statue is a modest recreation of the Greek goddess of love, riding a conch shell chariot being pulled by several swans across the waves of the ocean. The man that created this fine piece of art was Alexander Davis, a young potter who owns a pottery shop on the corner of Avenue of America and West 58th Street. This statue sold at the auction for just over a million dollars to a collector that lives in Germany. Clearly, this young man is a master of the art and we should expect to see some more of his pieces around the world in time. Rumor has it that he wanted to give the statue to the Society for free, but they wouldn't hear if it." Sasha concluded before continuing on with the auction.
As Alex had listened to the news report on the auction, he couldn't help but cock his head to the side, surprised at what the news had said about what the statue sold for. "Over a million? Oh please, now I know that the news is inflating on the details. That statue wasn't even worth ten thousand. It's just a hunk of perfectly shaped clay and a perfectly coating of glaze. No big deal... though it would be if they knew that a mutant had used his mutation to sculpt it, the price wouldn't be any more then 500. Sheesh... what people would waste money on these days." Alex stated before taking another gulp of his drink, the realized he forgot to turn off his neon 'open' sign that was in the front window of his shop.
With a grumble, Alex got up and headed upstairs, walked into the front of his shop, grabbed the small chain that hung from the back of the sign, and gave it a tug. The blue and red glow from Alex's sign had vanished, so the only light coming into the front part of the shop was the remaining light from the sunset. With that, Alex started to head back into the part that he called home when he noticed a group of people down the street wearing light jackets with hoods that hid their faces, similar to that of the gang that had rattled Alex for a protection fund three days ago... and all they got from Alex was a door in their face. As Alex stared at the group, he saw that they were watching the news on a television set that was in the window of an electronics store down the street. Alex narrowed his eyes slightly, wondering if they were going to try to shake him down again. If they did try, they might end up learning the hard way that Alex didn't need protection.
When the group started to walk away from Alex's location, Alex shrugged, grabbed a spray bottle and rag, and started to clean off his windows for the last time before going back down stairs.
When the malachite katana stuck the purple energy that Aura was producing, Alex could've sworn that he felt some sort of resistance against his weapon that seemed to slow his weapon down considerably. It was like trying to cut through blubber that was as strong as concrete; not a solid object that took a certain amount of force to get through, but something that provided a constant resistance against his weapon even after his weapon had pierced it's outer boundary. It felt really odd to say the least, but what ever it was doing, it was doing it's job right because Aura was able to block both of his attacks.
When Aura didn't even pause to regain any balance she might have lost before charging after Alex, the malachite manipulator realized that she preferred up close fights in which she could really get into her opponents face and overwhelm them. With that thought realized, Alex knew that this was going to be a tough fight in which neither of them were going to back down. As the aura drill came at Alex's right shoulder the malachite katana widened suddenly while straightening, making it look more like an old fashion Scottish claymore, and the malachite weapon deflected the drill off to the side of Alex's shoulder... though the drill ripped off the sleeve that was covering his shoulder, revealing the black Pegasus with red demon wings tattoo on that shoulder, though no physical harm was done to his shoulder. It was one heck of a close call.
As for the spike aimed for Alex's waist, all Alex had to do was lower his left forearm, which was covered with a malachite gauntlet, and blocked the spike. He felt her strength with that blow though since the spike pushed Alex's forearm into his stomach. For such a small woman, this Aura person was quite strong. As Alex shoved the drill away from his shoulder with his malachite sword, a spike grew out of the gauntlet on Alex left forearm and towards Aura's stomach, aimed with the intent to make her back up. To increase the odds of her backing up, Alex slashed at Aura's sword arm with his own blade, and he put all of his strength into that swing.
The whole time, Alex didn't say a word as he gazed into Aura's eyes with his own glowing green eyes. In his mind, the time for pleasantries had passed.
It wasn't until after Alex had begged Mahadevi not to reveal the method of how he was going to make her statue that he saw something about the goddess's eyes change. Was she intrigued with him now? He couldn't really tell since reading a person's face expression was a skill that he royally lacked. Even so, Alex could tell that she was thinking that he had something that she was entitled too. What ever it was though, she would have to learn that in the western world, everything comes with a price, deity or not.
After Alex had asked if they were sticking to traditional Indian art for the statue, he noticed that Mahadevi had instructed her servant to close and lock the front door to Alex's shop, and the OPEN sign was now turned off. Apparently she wanted him to do the statue right then and there, not at a more appropriate time. With a sigh, Alex pushed a button under the counter which closed the shutters for the front windows so there wouldn't be any prying eyes watching them either. The back of his shop was too cluttered for this work, and there wasn't enough room in the basement of his shop either. This bit of artwork was going to be done in the shop itself since it was the only place that Alex had enough space for him to work and for her to pose.
When the goddess stated that she wanted something unique that had never been done before, Alex was relieved, or at least a little. From his point of view, he had interpreted what she had just stated as she was going to pose fully clothed. However, that sense of relief and that thought both vanished when Mahadevi continued in saying that there was no reason to hide perfection from the eyes of the devoted. Did that mean she planned on posing with a different dress that was far more elegant... or was she going to be exposed just like the Indian statues in the book? Alex wasn't sure. Either way though, he had to get ready to do this statue.
Clearing his throat, Alex walked into the back of the shop. "Okay then, but I have several different types of clay. Sometimes the most expensive isn't the best. Let me show you four different types of clay. We'll begin as soon as you decide on a type of clay. Also, do you want me to paint if afterwards so it will look exactly like you?" Alex stated as he opened up a few cabinets in the back of the shop and grabbed a few blocks of clay for her to take a look at.... and once again, he had left the picture of his father unattended to.
Soon the malachite manipulator came back with four blocks of clay in hand, each wrapped up in clear plastic. One was a reddish brown, another was pure white, and another one was the normal gray. The last one was golden in color, and to the untrained eye it looked like Alex had just placed a brick of solid gold down as one of Mahadevi's choices. "We'll do it right here since this is the most open spot of the shop I have." Alex stated as he started to remove the clay stained smock he had been wearing, then removed the white button down shirt that he had on under the smock, so now he was only wearing a t-shirt. As a result his arms were fully exposed, revealing the malachite bracers he was wearing on his forearms, along with a few of his battle scars that were on his arms. The underside of his black Pegasus with red demon wings tattoo was visible as well.
"I'm ready when you are." Alex stated calmly as his flawless cyan eyes started to glow green.
Alex noticed Mahadevi giving him a graceful nod when he found his manners, and was slightly relieved to see that she forgave him for not having them at first. He also notice her glancing at the paper he had flipped over, and was wondering if she was going to ask about it. Most people with money or power always seemed to think that they had the right to know everything and they believed they could take the ground right out from under your feet... and it was your own fault if you didn't get off of it fast enough, not theirs. He was wondering if she felt that way too. If she did feel that way, Alex hoped that she wouldn't ask about the paper, because she wouldn't like the answer he would give her.
When the goddess asked Alex if he worked with models though, Alex shoved his current thoughts aside and raised one eyebrow, clearly puzzled. He was about to say that he hadn't worked with a model before but before he could open his mouth, Mahadevi continued as to the reason why she wanted him to make a statue of her, one that would capture the attention of even those that thought the divine were myths. Thinking about it, Alex crossed his arms over his chest and rubbed his chin. "Hm... I've never worked with models before, but I'm sure I could. That statue you saw was made from imagination only. Having a person to model the clay after would be much easier.... and faster. That Greek goddess statue took me a better part of the week, because I had to constantly change the statue since I kept changing my mind. Hm..." Alex stated then continued thinking.
It was very doable actually... there was one thing holding him back though... and that was that this woman was, or at least claimed, to be a goddess so she wouldn't accept anything less then perfection. One small flaw and she might fly off the handle. He would just have to nail it. A second problem was time. If she wanted the statue to be life size, it could take him a whole day to make it, or more... unless he used his mutation to do it, in which case he could have it done within hours, if not one hour. "Hm... I guess I could do it and I can make it life size too, but I must beg you not to tell anyone how I made the statue." Alex stated, and he left it at that.
He then realized something... he wasn't quite sure how the people of India made their statues look. He had bought a few books on making Indian art pieces, but he never took a good look at the statues. Luckily most of the books were under the counter. "Hm, I'm sure I have a book on how they make divine statues over in India. Give me a second..." Alex stated and quickly bent over to look under the counter, not realizing he left the paper with the picture of his father drawn on it unprotected, so Mahadevi could grab it and glance at it while he was down there. "Ah! Found it!" Alex stated after searching for about a second, and stood up... and gave himself a bonk on the back of the head from the underside of the counter when he stood up. "Ow. Why is it I always become a klutz in front of customers?" Alex asked himself as he rubbed the back of his head and placed the large heavy book on the counter, and opened it up to the page that talked about Indian statues.
The moment Alex saw how the end result of most Indian statues were, he bit his lower lip and gulped nervously. Now he was having second thoughts. He glanced up at Mahadevi, back down at the book, then back up at the goddess again, this time with a little bit of blush on his cheeks. "Uh... oh dear. I think I might have to stray a little from normal India artwork." Alex stated with a second gulp. Sure, all of the statues were in unique posing positions, but he could manage that. Most of the statues that had multiple arms had a different object in each hand, and that was also doable. It was how the statues were clothed... or lack there of... that had Alex worried. "Uh... every single statue of people in this book are a bit... what would be an appropriate word... exposed. Um... how close to traditional Indian artwork do you want this to be?" Alex stated hesitantly, unable to hide the blush from his face.
Alex lay in one of the hospital rooms on a bed with an IV in his right arm, a doctor taking his pulse on his left arm, and his malachite bracers in his lap. When the ambulance had shown up in order to get the dead woman, they ended up picking up Alex as well, whom had collapsed from the heat. Wearing that black leather jacket in the heat right before his adrenaline went into high gear did a number on him since he didn't have any water in his system. Now, Alex had an IV in his arm giving him water while he took a sip of water every now and then, and a doctor was giving him an examination.
After watching the clock for a minute or two, the doctor shook his head and started to listen to Alex's lungs by putting his stethoscope on Alex's back. "So am I gonna live doc or should I cash in my bracers and live it up for the next few days before I fall over..." Alex said rather dryly. He hated being in hospitals since he couldn't wear his clothes when he was here. The doctor didn't answer at first since he was listening to Alex's lungs, then he sat back in his chair and sighed. "You'll be just fine, but I would suggest that from now on you wear a light T-shirt out in the sun instead of a heavy leather jacket. I know you want to hide those bracers of yours while they're on your arms, but is it worth your live?" the doctor asked as he checked the IV and saw that it was just about empty, so he got up and circled around Alex in preparation for removing the IV. "Logic works a little differently when you're a mutant. These bracers are my life, and hiding them protects me from mobs." Alex stated plainly.
"You have a point there. So how are you feeling?" the doctor stated. "Better now, thank you... but how come you guys keep on telling me there isn't gonna be any charge?" Alex responded as he watched the doctor remove the IV, and flinched a little bit when he did. "Because one of those policeman that escorted the ambulance her already picked up your bill and paid for it. Said something about thanking you for teaching him that not all mutants are monsters." The doctor stated, and Alex smiled. He had a feeling which policeman it was. Soon, the IV was completely removed from Alex's arm and the small wound was bandaged up, not that it mattered since Alex was covered from head to toe in battle scars and a single tattoo on the right shoulder. "So... where's that woman. I should say my final goodbyes. I might not have known her, but she's dead because of me, so I need to apologize one more time." Alex stated sadly as he stood up and grabbed his shirt, which was on a nearby chair.
"I'm sorry but only kin-folk is allowed in the morgue to see the deceased. You're free to stay to give your condolences to her next of kin though." the doctor replied, then covered his mouth when he realized how unfeeling his last sentence was, though Alex didn't notice it. "Very well then. I'll go check myself out." Alex stated as he slipped the bracers onto his arms and started to leave.
"One question before you leave sir. How come you didn't fight back against that mob? You clearly could've taken them apart... literally." the doctor asked, and Alex sighed. "Because only a monster kills someone after they've rescued a child. I'm not a monster, but nor am I a hero. The proper term for me would be vanguard." Alex stated before leaving. The doctor watched him leave and put his hands into his pockets. A nurse, whom had been standing by, gave the doctor a questionable glance, wondering what Alex meant by that. "In war, the vanguard are those on the front lines and they suffer the most losses so those following them don't have to pay a price. He doesn't care about his own life, just the lives of those around him. He was going to let that mob kill him in order to make sure that no one else lost their life. No wonder he's mourning for that woman. What he was trying to prevent was exactly what happened." the doctor explained before turn around to do some paper work.
As Alex made he way down one of the hallways, he saw a doctor, or at least he guessed the guy was a doc because of the white coat, give a woman a kiss on the hand before he walked away from her. As Alex got closer to her, he suddenly stopped walking, his eyes went wide, his mouth hung open, and his face paled. He recognized the woman as the same woman that got killed during the brawl. She wasn't dead at all! "What the hey?! I thought you were... but I saw... didn't that guy... you're not dead?!" Alex exclaimed in surprise, dumbfounded because he thought she was dead.
Even when the old servant whispered to Mahadevi about Alex's rudeness, Alex still stood there with his mouth hanging open and his flawless cyan eyes were wide with surprise. In this shocked state, Alex watched the woman deity enter his shop as she glanced around. It wasn't until she asked about the statue that had just left his pottery shop that Alex found his voice. "Yes... I made it..." Alex stated, though his voice had a squeak to it.
It wasn't until Alex said this that his senses suddenly came back and he realized just how rude he was being. He quickly blinked his eyes, shut his mouth, cleared his throat., and quickly bowed to Mahadevi. "What happen to my manners? My sincere apologies for my rudeness! It's not everyday that a goddess enters my humble pottery shop. Your presence here shocked me to the point that my mind was no longer functioning. I'm Alexander Davis." Alex stated calmly, and there wasn't any hint of the squeak being in his voice this time. Deep down Alex thought that she was just a mutant like he was, but everyone around her thought otherwise and he could tell it would be a bad idea to go against them.
Alex was still in the bowing position, and he noticed that the drawing he was looking at was currently facing Mahadevi. Deity or not, she didn't need to see that, so as he finished bowing and stood back up to his full height, he grabbed the piece of paper and flipped it over so she wouldn't see the picture on it. "And yes, I did make that statue that was just taken out of here. Do you have any questions about it? I'll be happy to answer them."
Before the trusted servant of Mahadevi had walked up to the door of the shop, Alex had looked away from the front door of his shop and was starting to examine a diagram he had drawn the day before, a small statue he was planning on making on his own time. The picture was of a man in his mid sixties with a full beard and going bald, wearing a suit of mystical armor made of white diamond, wielding a great claymore that was also made of white diamond. As Alex looked at the picture, a small tear formed under his eye and is started to go down his cheek. "Dad... I'm sorry..." Alex whispered under his breath, then quickly wiped the tear away when he heard the door of his shop open up.
Alex was about to greet the man that had opened up the door to his shop when the man began a speech, announcing that a deity from India was about to enter his humble pottery shop and he should bow to her. Hearing that shocked Alex to the point that his jaw dropped open. "Excuse me?" he exclaimed in surprise, having trouble believing what he just heard. He had heard of a lot of crazy people, but someone that thought that they were a goddess? That took the cake, but sure enough Alex could see outside his store windows was a woman dressed in elegant clothes with tons of jewelry, and she had eight limbs. It was about that time that Alex remembered from history class in high school that most deities from India had multiple limbs, and this woman had just that.
Alex couldn't believe his eyes and ears. This announcer guy was serious! Alex was so surprised that he dropped the piece of paper he was looking at back on the counter in front of him, and didn't notice that the picture was now facing towards the door so anyone entering the shop could see the picture right side up. Alex looked like a complete idiot with his mouth hanging open and his eyes wide open as well. "You guys are serious, aren't you?" Alex stated quietly, forgetting completely that the man had told him to bow.
