The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

When Susana had accused Alex and the woman as being lovers, which resulted in the woman giving Alex a glance, the malachite manipulator almost laughed. It was easy for him to see that this woman was way out of his league... heck, every woman was out of his league, but the woman he was fighting side by side with was goddess in human form, was rich, and was more then a capable fighter. If it wasn't for the two of them fighting side by side now, chances are that woman wouldn't of even looked at him, or even acknowledge his existence.
After watching Susana fall to the floor from being nailed in the stomach by his malachite rod, which was assisted by the woman pulling on one of Susana's whips, Alex watched as the woman walked up to the downed Susana and nailed the downed Broadway star in the forehead with a powerful kick... powerful enough that Alex was partly surprised that Susana's head didn't come flying off. The star's eyes rolled back into her head before she collapsed onto the floor, which was followed by her whips going limp and uncoiling from the woman's arm and falling onto the floor in a heap. Glad to see the fight was over Alex relaxed and gently let go of his mental hold on the malachite in his hands, resulting in his glowing green eyes to fade back to their normal cyan color as the three foot long rod of malachite shrinking back down to the size of a small dagger, which Alex slipped into the scabbard on his left hip.
He then glanced over at the woman with a puzzled look and finally replied to her comment about his banter being in poor taste. "Of course it was in poor taste... does it look like I have any?" Alex stated in a humorous tone as the side of his mouth lifted up slightly with a grin... though he wasn't expecting her to laugh in reply. The smile quickly faded as he crossed his arms over his chest and sighed. "Now that the problem is dealt with, would you mind telling me why you lied about being her daughter, and why you paid off part of her debt when there is no relation between the two of you? Sure you're both blond and Caucasian, but you look nothing like her." Alex stated in a plain but calm tone. In reality he had high doubts any man would stoop down low enough to sleep with Susana because how big of a b*tch she was.
Meanwhile, in the alley behind the store, Mr. Shin was heading towards a shadowy area with the expensive vase in his hands, constantly looking around to see if he was followed by any of the three people in the shop or anyone else. Seeing no one, he relaxed a little bit, but still clung tightly to the vase. "Oh... oh what do I do now? Where's that cop that I'm suppose to hand this intercepted shipment of M-drug pills to? And how did Lori know where the stolen shipment was... and why did she come herself? And who was that man with the cyan eyes that glowed green? Oh... oh..." the Korean sobbed as he made his way down the alleyway, unsure of what to do now.
Alex watched as the red and black wolf growled angrily at Hokee while glaring at the boy after the kid had said that Alex might have to clean up after the wolf had done her business, clearly displeased by the boy's comments. Even well trained dogs and wolves can't fully understand human speech to the level of this black and red wolf. Alex was even more convinced then ever that this wolf was actually a shape shifting mutant and she... or he if that be the case... was rather upset with Hokee's comment. Even a city slicker would know that when a wolf growls like that, the first and best response was to run for the nearest tree and climb it to avoid getting bitten... and hope the wolf doesn't climb after you.
It was the wolf's response to Alex's apology and warning to Hokee that clinched Alex's theory that the wolf was actually a mutant, since she (Alex was assuming that the wolf was female) stopped growling at Hokee and started to wag her tail in Alex's direction, then walked over to him and sat next to him while leaning a little bit of her weight on his leg. Alex could feel how warm she was through his pant leg and when he glanced down at her, he was a little surprised to notice that a small chunk was missing from her left ear, and wondered how it happened. When the wolf turned into her human form, he could ask about it then.
At first he considered giving her a friendly scratch behind the ears, but then Alex thought against it. Sure, she was leaning against him slightly, but just because she was touching him didn't mean that he had permission to touch her. He nearly lost a finger that way to a Saint Barnard several years ago. Instead, he let his arm hang loosely above her head, his way of asking permission. If she nudged at his hand with her nose, then chances were he had permission. If she didn't do anything, then most likely he didn't have permission and wouldn't touch her. If he felt her teeth dig into the flesh of his hands... well, that most likely meant he wasn't welcome here and should make tracks to the nearest hospital. Alex quietly gulped and prayed that she wouldn't bite him.
Glancing up at Hokee, Alex only smiled slightly and shrugged. He knew that it was because of his manners that Emerald seemed to be approving of him for the moment... and it was Hokee's rudeness that resulted in Emerald threatening him with a glare. Alex wouldn't of minded telling the kid to be careful about his attitude... although Alex was guessing the kid heard this more times then he cared to, and it was the wolf whom had been insulted, not Alex, so it really was the wolf's place to discipline Hokee... though Alex hoped that it would be bloody if the wolf did discipline Hokee.
When Hokee stated that normal was a bit of a loose term, Alex nodded in agreement. Even among humans there were rarely any two people that were the same so there's virtually no basis to call people normal with. So when Hokee called Alex weird, the malachite manipulator could only laugh. "Yes, I'm weird and I'm proud of it!" Alex stated with a broad smile as his flawless cyan eyes twinkled. Despite Hokee saying that everyone and everything was weird here, Alex was beginning to think that he would fit in nicely here. He just hoped that Hokee wasn't as much of a trouble maker that Alex thought he was, or he might end up having to go head to head with this kid in the back yard a few times, or in what these people used as a training room.
Alex nodded in thanks when Hokee told him of the offices on the second floor and that he should go there for a job interview if he wanted it. He was thinking about asking where the nearest set of stairs to the upper floor was when a bark drew his attention away from Hokee and to the nearby hallway. What he saw caused his jaw to drop in surprise and dismay. "A wolf!" Alex exclaimed in surprise, and his right hand, fueled by instinct to protect those around him, drifted towards his malachite dagger. However he stopped half way when he realized that this wolf could very well be another mutant with shape shifting powers. It was the red fur on the wolf's back that gave Alex that idea. He knew of only one type of wolf that had red fur which was a maned wolf, and they had it all over. What's more was that this wolf had blue eyes and was much larger then a normal wolf. What was strange was that looking at this wolf seemed to bring a warm smile to his face... though Alex didn't have a clue as to why. Sure he liked dogs and wolfs and respected them, but there had to be something different about this one that was making Alex react this way.
When the wolf yawned at him and seemed to be glaring, Alex realized that his conversation had resulted in giving the wolf a rude wake up call. However, from seeing the wolf yawn, Alex found himself yawning too and covered his mouth with his fist to be polite. I guess it's true when people say that yawning is contagious. Alex thought then shrugged an apology to the wolf, whom he assumed was another mutant. "Sorry about waking you up. Didn't realize that you were asleep nearby." Alex said to the wolf, then glanced over at Hokee when the kid told the wolf he wasn't gonna take it for a walk. "I'd be careful if I were you. I wouldn't be surprised if that wolf has the strength to crush our legs with one big bite."
When Hokee said that there was some really weird stuff around the mansion, Alex had to nod in agreement since this was a place where mutants were living after all. During his time working as a custodian and a locksmith, Alex had ran into several dozen mutants and each one of them had a different mutation. During his long trip from Kansas to New York City though, Alex had ran into even more mutants and had even fought a couple... though none of them were trained fighters. This place on the other hand was different. The mansion was a mutant training facility! "I believe you. I'm guessing that I'd have a better shot at becoming the president then my chances would be at having a 'normal' day here, right?" Alex stated in agreement.
When Hokee asked why Alex worked as a janitor, the malachite manipulator grew silent for a moment or two. Would this kid believe the real reason, or would Alex have to come up with a lie in order to satisfy the boy? With a indecisive shrug, Alex chose to tell the truth. "For the same reason I became a locksmith really, and it's a long story. To give you the short version I always wanted to protect the people around me, but a slight disorder prevented me from joining the armed forces and the same problem prevented me from becoming a cop. Since I couldn't protect everyone around me directly, I decided that I would protect everyone indirectly instead by keeping their learning environment healthy and safe. Sure, a janitor is at the bottom of the totem poll, but from my point a view it's the bottom piece that holds up the rest of the totem poll. I became a locksmith for a similar reason; I repaired and maintained the first line of defense of my customer's homes, which is the lock. If that fails, anyone could get into your home. I made sure that didn't happen so I was in a sense protecting them too." Alex explained to Hokee, then stuffed his hands into the pockets of his black leather jacket with a grumble.
"Sure, both lines of work were rather unrewarding and thankless, and they left almost no room for fun, but I was doing what I wanted to do all my life, protecting people in the best way I could at the time." Alex stated, then sighed. In truth, he was rather disappointed that his life was mostly spent cleaning bathrooms and repairing door locks, but in truth he would've preferred being a policeman or a soldier. Heck, he would've preferred being a vigilante over a janitor, but that didn't bring in any income at all and everyone has bills that they need to pay. Maybe the kid would understand that someday. "Does that answer you're question?"
Alex was starting to consider the possibility that it would be better to just knock Susana out with one smack to the forehead with an extending malachite poll, but all that would teach the Broadway star is how much makeup it would take to cover up a bruise on her forehead. Besides, he wanted to make sure that she remembered to never steal again... and that was going to take a little bit more then a bruise. It was very rare for Alex to think like this, but even he thought that Susana needed to be taught a lesson she would never forget.
However, before Alex could act, he was suddenly taken aback when the woman next to him suddenly burst into laughter. Alex glanced over at her puzzled by her reaction to a simple pill rolling out of Susana's purse. It wasn't until the woman explained that Susana wasn't a mutant and she was actually on the M drug. Even he had heard about the M-drug. "Well, that explains a lot. You can tell me why that's funny later though." Alex stated as he turned back to face Susana who seemed to have made up her mind about something.
"All I wanted was a stupid vase for cheap, but no, you had to do the 'morality right' thing." Susana exclaimed as she prodded a finger in Alex's direction. "So now all I wanted was to teach that old coot a lesson and maybe give you a second chance and let you exist only as my boy toy because your cute, but nooo, you just had to be a mutant with an ethical code." Susana stated as her blood red whips started to extend out of her hands. "So now you're dead, and you're lover here is dead too!" Susana yelled as the tips of her whips became needle sharp and began to secret a black liquid that quickly made the shop smell like poison.
With a howl Susana swung her whips at Alex and Lori again, and once again Alex extended his malachite rod and swung it wide to deflect the whip like before... but this time Susana was ready for it and coiled her whip around the rod in an attempt to take the malachite away from Alex. As she pulled on the rod with one whip, she swung her other whip a Lori again, attempting to cut her face again or splatter her with the black toxin that her whips were secreting. "Nice try, but I have a few tricks of my own." Alex said as the malachite rod flattened out as it turned into a broad sword with razor sharp edges. Thanks to Alex pulling back on the malachite sword so he wouldn't lose it and Susana pulling the whip she had coiled around the sword, the razor edges of the sword dug their way into the whip and managed to cut their way through as if the whips were made of wet tissue paper.
In shock, Susana recalled the remains of her whip back into her hand as a few seconds of it fell to the floor and seemed to melt into a red puddle of blood. "My turn..." Alex stated and pointed the sword at Susana, and the tip was unwavering. The end of the sword seemed to inflate like a balloon until the end was shaped like a sphere and was roughly the size of a base ball. Before Susana could guess what was going to happen next, the malachite weapon extended like a harpoon being shot from a gun and nailed Susana in the gut... hard. As the malachite weapon retracted just as fast as it had extended, Susana clenched her stomach and fell to her knees. "What's wrong? Indigestion or a glass stomach?" Alex asked as the malachite weapon turned back into a three foot long rod as Susana coughed and tried to get her breath back.
When Alex had mentioned that he had a guess that the kid might cause a lot of the trouble that Alex would have to clean up after, the malachite manipulator quickly regretted saying that since the kid clearly took it as an insult and warned Alex not to label him as anything. "Considered the label dropped. My apologies." Alex stated as his eyes drifted towards the ground in shame. He had made the judgement from his experience from his years of working as a custodian in several different schools. He had learned to identify some students as trouble makers by their reactions and the way they talked, and most of the time he had been right and had applied it to Hokee. If he wanted to get along with this kid and other kids, Alex was gonna have to toss that line if thinking out the window... which was way easier said then done for a person with the aspergers developmental disorder.
Alex shifted his weight onto his left leg as he listen to Hokee tell him that the kid wasn't exactly a full fledged student per say, but he could be considered one. The kid introduced himself and explained that he was out the door the moment he no longer needed the crutches and his car was fixed, though he wanted Alex to keep his name on his bedroom since storage lockers were very expensive, and Alex shrugged. "If they let me keep your name on it, I'll make sure that no one clears out your stuff." Alex stated with a nod.
The moment that Hokee asked if he was man enough to handle a fight if he pissed someone else off, Alex looked away from the kid as he thought about a possible answer. Sure Alex had been trained in a few forms of combat and was battle hardened, and he had more then a good hold on his powers... but still, Hokee was suggesting that Alex might have to face another mutant that might be pissed off, and that was something Alex was not looking forward to. Finally, he shrugged and turned back to Hokee. "I might be experienced in combat, so I think I'm, as you suggested, 'man enough.' However there are somethings that are better learned at the tip of a sword." Alex stated, remembering one of his father's lessons.
His father... that was a memory that Alex didn't want to think about at the moment. If anyone here found out about how Alex discovered his mutation, they would run him out of here faster then anything else on the planet. He was going have to avoid showing everyone the tattoo on his right shoulder so they didn't ask about the unique looking tat. With a shrug, Alex glanced around and then turned back to Hokee with a question in hopes it would get his mind off of his family. "One last question and then I'll leave you alone... besides Taylor, is there anyone else here that you would suggest I talk to in order to find out if I can find work here?"
Mr. Shin had watched Lori count out a large number of bills and stuff them into a jar before she told him to flee, but he couldn't move. He tried to get up but it was as if vines had grown out of the floor and had wrapped around all four of his limbs, preventing him from moving. He was paralyzed with fear. He wanted to run, but he could only think about the 'what ifs.' What if Susana got passed his two rescuers? What if everything in his store was destroyed in the fight? What if she held him criminally liable? What if- "Mr. Shin. Get up. Get out. Now." Alex stated with authority. It wasn't a suggestion, it was an order. Frantic, the Korean got up, grabbed the vase with the money in it, and fled out the back of the store.
Good. Now I don't have to worry so much about getting a civilian hurt if this turns into a full blown fight. Alex thought as his glowing green eyes gazed into Susana's. He could tell that the woman was clearly scared... and she had no idea how to deal with fear. That didn't surprise Alex in the least. Susana was a star on Broadway that always got her way no matter what, and she had the police in her pocket for when ever she got herself into trouble... and apparently she was more then capable of defending herself if she was in a position that the police couldn't help her.. She had nothing to be afraid of... until now that is. He was more then capable of stopping her attacks before they even reached her target. Susana was so scared that she completely ignored the other woman's question... or she was just too scared to answer it.
There was one thing bothering him though. "Before we get into this, I just have to ask one little thing... why the heck did you leave first and then come back? People do that to get a gun or someone else to do the dirty work. You on the other hand had a mutant power the whole time." Alex asked accusingly. That seemed to get Susana to focus just enough to get her to talk. "I had to take my medication." Susana answered as she yanked back on her whip and managed it to free it from Alex's malachite rod and retract it back into her hand. Hearing her answer, Alex snorted and shook his head as his rod shrank back down to it's normal form of a two foot long dagger. "Oh please. I know junior high students that can lie better then you. Here I thought you were an actress." Alex scoffed as his eyes continued to glow.
Instead of replying to that, Susana threw down her purse and launched a blood red whip out of both hands. One was aimed for Alex's chest, the other for the other woman's face. Alex didn't even move to avoid the attack. He just sighed and raised the malachite dagger as it morphed into a small shield, and the whip bounced off harmlessly. Lesson number one in fighting: keep your eyes on your opponent's eyes, for they will look at the spot they will attack next. Alex thought as he recalled some of his father's lessons in combat. "Shall we end this quickly?" Alex asked the woman he was fighting next to, and had a guess what the answer was. While he focused on Susana, her purse had tipped over, and a tiny pill had rolled out with an 'M' written on the side.
The moment that the boy in front of Alex snickered after he told the boy that he used to be a custodian, Alex cocked an eyebrow and his smiled faded. He new that snickered all too well. He had heard it more times then he could count in a single week from teenagers in the schools he used to work in, and they always snickered in that way before they caused trouble or made a huge mess. Ahh... this kid is a trouble maker. I should've picked that up from his non-caring attitude. Alex thought as he noticed the twinkle in Hokee's eye. It was hard for him to miss that look too. This kid was thinking about all sorts of trouble he could cause for Alex if he started to work there at the custodian. I'll have to keep my eyes out for this one if I get hired. I wonder, will I get to be able to spar with those that misbehave to teach them a lesson? I'll have to ask that question. Alex thought as he crossed his arms over his chest as he narrowed his eyes slightly with a small grin on his face. "You're plotting something, aren't you?" Alex asked after the kid snickered again.
The moment that the kid teased him about girls not wanting to hang out with him because he cleans out toilets, Alex frowned and shook his head as he shrugged off the comment. "Well, around here I'm guessing I'm not going to be doing that much. My guess is that if I get hired here, I'm going to be cleaning up after the mutants that are still learning to control their powers... or play pranks... and I think I'm looking at the guy I'm gonna be at odds with most of the time. Call it a hunch." Alex said with a smirk. He had dealt with more messes in a month then most other custodians deal with in a year, thanks to the fact that water balloon fights in the hallways were a common thing where he worked. Surely he could handle a few messes from a mutant... right?
However, when the kid gave the suggestion about not telling girls what he does for a living, Alex had to nod. "Thanks for the advice... but I kinda caught on with that one already. It's a given." Alex stated as he rolled his shoulders since he was getting a little stiff in the shoulder blades. With the question if Alex had a car, he had to shake his head. "Had an over-sized van that could carry all of my locksmithing equipment when I was in the business. That thing could handle a whole lot, but it wasn't very maneuverable. Sold it when I arrived in New York City. A vehicle that big that can't make sudden moves does very poorly in the highly aggressive traffic of that city, wouldn't you agree? Besides, found it more entertaining to walk." Alex stated. He then quickly jerked his head to the right to crack his neck, and sighed. "So what about you? What's your name and are you a student here?"
What's with this kid? Alex thought as he tried to figure the kid in front of him out. Everything he said seemed to either bounced off of this kid, or it just annoyed the kid. Alex wouldn't call Hokee a snob... but he would say that this boy was full of himself. One thing was for certain, this kid was not a dummy. If anything, Alex thought that this kid was actually figuring him out, which took some doing. Maybe the kid was telepathic? It would explain why the boy was so full of himself and he had assumed correctly that Alex was going to stay here, or at least attempt to. However, if the boy was telepathic, he wouldn't need to be asking all of these questions about Alex, so that theory was now full of holes. With a small shrug, Alex gave up trying to figure this kid out and began to answer his question about what Alex did.
"Well, I used to be a custodian for a high school over in Kansas, and I did that for several years. I kept the students of that school safe by making sure they had a healthy environment to learn in. During that time I did some side work as a locksmith, which allowed me to protect even more people by making sure that their homes were secure and that home owners could sleep soundly without having to worry about break ins." Alex stated, then smirked. "I'm your basic goodie two shoes, I ain't gonna hide it." Alex stated, then shook his head slightly. Or at least I was until I found out I was a mutant and nearly tore my family apart because of how I found out... Alex thought. He didn't mention it because the kid didn't need to know this stuff. Besides, he was too young and too self-centered to understand what it was like for Alex to lose everything so quickly.
The moment that the kid said he would watch Alex's back if he didn't piss him off and hooked him up, Alex had to chuckle. He wasn't quite sure what the kid meant by hooking him up with a McDonald, but he had a good guess. "I'll do my best to not get on your bad side pal... but in terms of hooking you up with someone, you're on your own there. From the looks of you I'm guessing you do way better in that department that I ever could." Alex stated with a chuckle.
When the boy responded with an uncaring 'what ever' when Alex had introduced himself to make sure the boy had caught his nickname, he started to think that this boy was a type of person that just didn't really care about much stuff, and that was that. The 'does it really matter' comment confirmed this and Alex decided to stop asking questions about the mansion, because this boy clearly didn't care about what was going on, and his opinion with mutants were rather low. Freaks... sure, from some points of view we could be considered freaks, but in my opinion mutants are just people with very amazing gifts. We should be judged by what we use out mutations for, not by the fact that we have mutations at all. Alex thought with a frown. He didn't voice his opinion though, since this boy clearly didn't care.
When the boy had asked if Alex was going to stay there at the mansion, he didn't answer at first wondering why the kid even cared, however in truth Alex wasn't sure either. "I'm not really sure. I might, but I think I need to wait on that decision until I've talked to Taylor or another high ranking person here." Alex answered as he turned to face the boy as the kid leaned up against the wall. The kid continued to tell Alex where stuff was, such as the kitchen, the classrooms, and where he could get some practice in if he wanted to. When the boy asked what Alex was doing here and if the police were after him, Alex smiled and shook his head. He had looked up his name on the mutant wanted list and he hadn't gotten a response, so his family hasn't pressed charges. "Well, the reason I came here is because I'm basically looking for a place that a newly emerged mutant like myself could find at least one person that I could call a friend. I don't have a habit of getting myself in trouble, but as a mutant now I have a feeling that my luck is gonna change for the worse and I don't want to find myself backed into a corner without anyone to cover my back. Being alone has the advantage of being able to do what ever you want without anyone judging you... but if you get into trouble, no one will help you get out." Alex answered, quoting some of his father's combat training.
Flicking his head to the right to crack his neck, Alex snorted quietly and decided that he might as well make this a two way conversation. "So... that's the reason I'm here. What about you?"
When Alex had finished explaining why he was in the alleyway... and why he was standing in the middle of a stuffed animal genocide, he kept his cyan eyes on the man in front of him, who seemed a bit tense from Alex's point of voice. After Alex thought about it for a moment he couldn't really blame this man for being tense at all. That man had calmly walked into an alley for who knew what reason and came face to face with a mutant, and to see the aftermath of a practicing session that left a bunch of harmless toys in pieces. It wasn't something that Alex himself would want to run into either because he would be worried if the mutant wouldn't come after him too. Even now as a mutant himself, such a thing would be a scary experience.
So when the man introduced himself as Tasean and asked if he was a stuffed animal ripper mutant, Alex smiled slightly and shrugged. "Only when I run out of used tin cans." Alex stated as he flicked his thumb over his shoulder at the shredded tin cans that were against the back wall of the alley. He then sighed and looked straight into Tasean's eyes. "Before you say anything, no I'm not going to use you as a human sized target. I'm just practicing with other people's trash so what happened when I first got my mutant powers doesn't happen again." Alex stated then turned away as a tear started to fall down his cheek. The very thought of what happen three months ago was enough to make him want to cry again. Luckily he was able to get a hold of himself and all that came out was just that one tear.
Removing the tear with a flick of his thumb, he glanced back at Tasean with a cocked eyebrow. "Well, that's the reason why I am down here. So, how about you? What brings you down this alleyway into this toy-mageddon?"
Hey! I started a thread in the mansion grounds and it's the first time my character Rook has been to the mansion. Everyone is welcome so join in if you want to.
As the boy came over to the gate and told Alex that he had lied about taking a message, Alex shook his head slightly and sighed. Typical full of himself teenager. Why am I not surprised? Alex thought as he rubbed his bare hands together to keep them warm. However, when the boy said that Alex was one of those 'mutant freaks,' Alex narrowed his cyan eyes as they started to glow green. "Mutant, yes... freak, not so much. Thanks for the warning though. As I said, I'm Rook." Alex stated as he walked through the open gate as the green glow in his eyes dimmed back down to their normal cyan color.
Alex turned back to face the kid that had let him through the gate, and slowly shook his head at the fact that the kid was barefoot and had no shirt on, and it was the kid calling him the freak. "Alright, I've just gotta ask... is there a reason why you came out here with nothing on your feet and no shirt? That's making me think you're either really brave or really crazy." Alex said as he started to follow the kid back towards the mansion. The kid seemed to have ignored the question since he started to tell Alex about the outside of the mansion, and warned him about a woman named Taylor and said that she was an adept, which made Alex puzzled. Adept? Does he mean that she's really skilled with her powers, or did he mean something else? Alex thought since he had never even heard of an adept before.
As they headed towards the mansion, Alex glanced around and took in the scenery. Whom ever was their grounds keeper was really good at their job since the place looked rather beautiful even during the winter. He glanced back at the kid, and decided to ask a rather important question. "So, any suggestions on whom I should talk to first since this is my first time here?"
Alex watched as the young woman exclaimed in anger that she would never understand her mother, and started to go through her purse in order to find money to pay for all of the damages. Seeing this, Alex let out a small sigh and smiled slightly. The mother might be a total b*tch, but the daughter is a responsible woman. I guess her father was a responsible parent then. Alex thought to himself, knowing that many families had been destroyed from the inside from one single member of the family being a total idiot, and that a child's entire life can be ruined because of an irresponsible parent. Alex was hoping that the woman in front of her wasn't going to suffer that fate.
The merchant looked at the young woman with his eyes widening to the point that someone might think that his eyes would fall out. He looked down at the woman's purse, and then back up at her face, astonished. "You... you're really going to pay for all of the damage she caused?" Mr. Shin asked, clearly perplexed about the current situation. Alex looked over at the Korean elder and smiled warmly. "I think she's serious..." Alex said, hoping that he was right. The merchant hesitated, then slowly nodded. "Well... she did $70 worth of damage to my merchandise today. I couldn't even think of making you pay for all of the damage she caused." the merchant said, and Alex cocked an eyebrow in response to that. "You mean she's done this before? Why haven't you called the cops on her?" Alex asked as his cyan eyes narrowed slightly as he started to get a little hot under the collar. "I did call the cops on her the first time. She paid them off. The second time she did this, the cops accused me of framing an innocent woman, and threatened to arrest me if I tried to accuse her again. The total amount of damage she has done in my shop is over $400, not including the vases she has bought for only a third of their price. I refuse to let you pay for all of that though." Shin stated, and Alex clinched his teeth in anger before cursing under his breath and clenched his fist so tightly that the skin around his knuckles turned white. "That woman could get away with murder if she tried too..."
Just then the door opened, and Susana slipped in without making a noise, still wearing her sunglasses to hide her eyes. She glanced over at the new blond woman that was looking through her purse, and gritted her teeth. "So is this your customer that bought the vase before me? Is she reserving your next great piece of art so I can't have it?" Susana hissed with anger, and the Korean elder took several steps back, terror stricken. "I thought I told you to leave before I called the cops on you." Alex stated with a growl as he glared at Susana with a gaze that would send a shiver up the spine of a professional soldier. Susana only glanced back at Alex before flicking off her glasses to show her blood red eyes. "I suggest you start running. As soon as I'm done with this old coot, I'm coming after you to make you my boy toy." Susana purred, then shot the other woman a glare. "As for you... you better run before I decide to kill you too."
"What?!" the merchant cried as he hid behind his counter. Susana only smiled as she flicked her hand towards the counter, and a blood red whip flew towards the counter. As she did this though, Alex reached into his leather jacket and pulled out a two foot long dagger carved out of one solid piece of a beautiful green gemstone, and aimed it at the swinging whip. His flawless cyan eyes suddenly glowed bright green, and the blade of the dagger curled into a rod grew seven foot long, pinning the blood red whip against the far wall before it reached the counter. Shocked, Susana whipped her head around and glared at Alex as he stated "That was a big mistake..."
As it turned out, Alex didn't have to wait that long before he heard a response to what he had said a few seconds ago. However, what he heard in the response sounded a little weird, and Alex quickly grew puzzled. Did someone seriously just say 'nope, not a soul, leave a message after the beep?' Well, that confirms that there are teenagers here! Alex thought as he crossed his arms over his chest and shook his head. This was going to be interesting to say the least.
A moment later, Alex thought he saw someone walking towards him, and that person was wearing a pair of blue jeans and what Alex thought was a flesh colored jacket, and he guessed that this guy was the one that asked him to leave a message. As this guy got closer though, Alex's eyes went wide when he realized that the man was actually a young teenager walking with crutches, and that flesh colored jacket was actually the boy's chest! The kid wasn't even wearing shoes! Is this guy nuts, or does his mutation allow him to handle this kind of cold?? Alex thought, clearly perplexed and stunned. What type of place was this that let young teenagers that are injured greet the strangers at the gate? He was going to have some serious questions for the people in charge when it came to that kid.
It was at that moment that the kid suddenly made the 'beep' noise, and Alex narrowed his eyes. So, he wants to play? Fine, I'll play. Lets see how he reacts to this... Alex thought as he drew the malachite dagger from the scabbard at his side. As he lifted the dagger to his right ear, the blade started to curl in on itself and the pommel started to grow out and became square in shape. Once the dagger Defiance had reached Alex's right ear, it looked like an old fashion phone from a payphone. With a smile, he held the malachite phone to his ear and talked into the mouth piece. "Yes, hello? Is this thing recording? My name is Rook. One of your greeters named Drew dropped me off in front of your front gate so I could come in and maybe find a few fellow mutants that I can trust. You can reach me at-" Alex said, then stopped and looked down at the malachite phone. "Rats... the message box is full." Alex pouted, then let out a sigh as the malachite phone turned back into a dagger, which he slipped into the scabbard on his hip.
Then, with a smirk, he turned to face the teenager that was coming up to him and held up his hands with a shrug. "Well, you said leave a message!" Alex stated with a chuckle.
