The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

As Lori leaned in a bit more, Alex started to hyperventilate and his heart started to pound within his chest. Was she about to kiss him?! Alex was getting ready to push her away when he saw her drop her head onto his chest and the sound of intense giggling filled the entire store. Confused, Alex looked down at Lori when she said that he needed to get out more, and then when she commented that she wasn't going to bite, it all finally clicked within Alex's head. "Wait... you did all of that for laughs?!?" Alex exclaimed in surprise with a hint of anger in his voice. He was now thinking clearly and ran the entire scene that had happened between the two of them, and felt like kicking himself down the street for not catching on that it was all a joke... on him!
Before he could demand why she did that, the woman had grabbed his arm again and pulled him back out onto the street when the shop keeper came back into the store. When they were back out on the street, the woman had asked Alex if he had grown up in a monastery, and Alex only responded with an unamused glare. It took him a whole minute to finally answer. "No, I didn't. The real reason is none of your business." Alex stated, clearly fuming. The real reason why he didn't know what do to when she had started to flirt with him was because of his developmental disorder. It affected his communication skills, and made it impossible for him to pick of those tiny flirting signals. As a result, his experience with anyone of the opposite gender was an absolute zero.
In order to make sure that she didn't use her mind ability to find out the real reason or to have anymore fun with him, Alex started to focus his mind to prevent anyone from invading his thoughts. His mother had taught him how to do it after he had a bad run in with a mutant that had the ability to read a person's mind and show their memories to other people. His memories and his mind was his own, and hie didn't want this woman to invade his thoughts in an attempt to get the answer to her question.
As Tasean answered Alex's question about where the child might be hiding, he slowly stood up and started to think about the types of places where this kid could hide within this area... and the list was growing a bit large... larger then Alex would've wanted it to be since it would make it hard for the two of them to look for the child. "Hm... indoors and not on the ground... any building with a second floor would fit that bill, and there are at least six buildings or more in this area that have much more then two floors." Alex commented as he started to grow frustrated himself, and started to walk around in a circle as he thought.
Alex then came to a stop and glanced at a nearby building with boarded up windows. "Hm... if I were rather depressed, didn't want to be found, and wanted to stay off the ground... I would pick an abandoned building." Alex stated as he thought out loud and walked towards the building and then around the corner. Bingo. "Well, someone has entered this building recently. The boards that were covering this window have been pried off recently." Alex stated as he walked over to a nearby window that was at ground level. The pile of rotting wood that was on the ground in front of it had a small crowbar next to them that was very rusty, and it looked like the crowbar was so rusty that it had started to break while it was being used to pry off the boards. Alex gave the boards a small push with his foot, and found a couple of blood drops on the ground... and they were fresh. "Whom ever did this hurt themselves in the process." Alex mumbled, and looked over at the open window.
With a shrug, he turned and looked over at Tasean, wondering if they should take a look inside. "Shall we take a look inside or no?"
The moment after Alex had muttered to himself about how badly he blushes when ever he's with a woman, he glanced over at the young woman and realized just how close she was and realized that she could've easily heard his comment, and that made him blush into a deeper shade of pink. This day was just getting worse and worse. First, he had to fight against an insane woman that could produce blood whips from her hands that secreted poison. Second, he had bullets zipping passed his ear. Third, he had was trying to avoid the cops so he wouldn't be charged for assault. And now, he had mistakenly told a very lovely young woman that he turns into a blush machine around woman. Could this day possibly get any stranger? Alex thought in annoyance.
He was about to find out, for the woman had put down the ornamental box and turned to look in his direction. The next think he knew, she had taken a step towards him while mentioning that she liked tomatoes. Hearing that quickly made Alex's face turn a bright shade of pink and he quickly took a step backwards away from the woman, unsure of what to do.
She took another step towards him, while mentioning that she liked them raw... and that was enough to turn the blush on Alex's cheeks from their bright pink to a bright red. Alex took another step backwards, trying to keep his distance from the young woman that clearly had him in her sights. His eyes were darting back and forth, trying to look for someone that would either bale him out or tell him what he should do. No one. Not even a store manager, whom had clearly gone into their back room in order to have another cup of coffee.
As the woman leaned in and mentioned that she liked her tomatoes juicy as well, Alex tried to take another step back while leaning backwards in a futile attempt to stay away from the woman, and all he managed to do was bump into the wall behind him. Now with his body starting to tremble, Alex's head quickly whipped to the right to see the wall behind him... and there, sitting on a shelf that was level with Alex's shoulder, was a small cupid statue with his arrow pointed at Alex's shoulder. "Are you kidding me?!" Alex whined quietly with another squeak in his voice, this time even higher pitched, as he slowly turned his head to look back at the woman again.
A bead of sweat slowly made its way down the side of Alex's brow and started to go down his cheek as he blushed so bright red that his face was actually as red as a ripe tomato, and he was trembling so much that some of the stuff that was on display on the shelf behind him were starting to shake slightly. Only six little words were going through Alex's panicked mind. What do I do?! Someone help!
When Emerald had chuckled a little bit at his comment about hitting Hokee wouldn't teach him anything, then mentioned that there was one thing that Hokee would learn, Alex couldn't help but smile and nod. Yes, that was one lesson that Hokee could learn from getting hit, and Alex could give Hokee that lesson too. His brother had taught him how to be a boxer after all, and knew how and where to hit a person that would leave them seeing stars and dizzy for at least a whole minute if not longer. The resulting bruise would be one that Hokee wouldn't be able to get rid of for a long time. And Emerald was right... Hokee was on the verge of asking for it.
When Emerald said that the knowledge of his weakness was good to know if she had to stop him if he was ever being mind controlled, Alex found himself unable to look her in the eyes and glanced away, feeling a bit foolish about saying that. As Emerald continued that he should be more careful about what he tells other people, Alex paled slightly and nodded. The fact that he had told her that without knowing why, and then having her warn him not to do that with someone he didn't know, was more then enough for him to get depressed. Now Alex found himself wishing he had left the room the moment that he had woke her up by mistake.
When Emerald started to answer Alex's question about how long she had been here at the mansion, he managed to get himself to look in her direction once again and leaned forwards slightly to show her that she had his attention. However... the moment that Emerald had said that Alex seemed to fit into the category of people that had a stick up where the sun don't shine, he tilted his head to the side with a puzzled and confused look on his face. It was written all over his face that he didn't quite understand what she had meant when she had said that. He had a guess, but it was iffy, and decided to ask her about it later.
However, her statement about going to school here had caught his attention. "I'd venture a guess that going to a school for people with our sort of gifts would be quite interesting. Entertaining at times too." Alex stated, trying his best to keep the conversation going. Then he remembered something Hokee had mentioned, and wanted to ask Emerald to see if she could clarify what Hokee meant. "Since you've been here a while, maybe you could clarify something for me. Hokee said that there were some people here that are adapted.' Is that a type of mutation that I should be careful of or was he speaking metaphorically?"
Hm... I wouldn't mind roleplaying with you, but currently my only character is a bit of a goodie two shoes battle hardened warrior. If Alex and Euphoria met, they could come to blows, Alex might attempt to convince Euphoria to see what it's like to bring a smile to people that suffer, or Euphoria's power might allow her to tame him... or another result that I can't even think of at the moment!
The two of us have to do a thread together at some time! The results would be completely random, but worth seeing.
Finally! I have enough ideas to run this mini plot. Since it's been a long time since I first brought this up though, is anyone still interested in this? If yes, I would like to ask for people to let me know either here in this thread or to PM me.
As they continued to walk away from the police that were currently filing into the pottery shop, Alex had regained his focus and was acting like a tourist again... wide eyed, constantly glancing around at all of the interesting display stands, all while fishing through his pockets for his camera, however, he didn't actually have a camera on him, he was just pretending to look for it. He was actually doing a good job in looking for the non-existent item too, since when they passed by a street vendor selling pendents, he called out to Alex saying "I sell pendents that help you find missing or stolen items sir! Come buy one!" the man called out, but Alex ignored him.
However, Alex ignoring the salesman hadn't been on purpose... mainly because it had been at that moment that the woman that was holding onto his arm had tightened her grip while holding his arm closer to her. Now he was his nervous insecure self again, and this time his eyes were glancing around frantically because he didn't have a clue as to what to do with this beautiful young woman holding onto his arm like that. Alex now found himself wishing that he had stayed in bed today... not because of him having a close encounter with a bunch cops, or having bullets fired at him... no, it was the fact that a woman was holding onto his arm, and he was completely clueless, and that thought made him blush a shade of pink.
Glancing back down at her arm holding onto his once again, he was almost glad that she had chosen to go inside since there would be fewer people to see her holding onto his arm like that while they were indoors... however her question if he was afraid of her really sent him through a loop, and he almost started to hyperventilate. "Me? Afraid? Of you? Gee, what gave you that idea?" Alex asked in a slightly high pitched tone, with a hint of sarcasm in his voice. He then let out a large sigh and let his head hang down till his chin was touching his chest. "Oi... put me up against an army or a giant sentinel and I won't feel a bit of fear... but pair me up with any woman and watch me turn into a basket case and blush brighter then a ripe tomato..." Alex muttered under his breath. He had said it quietly to himself, but with him being this close to the young woman, there was a good chance that she had heard him, and from that anyone of the female persuasion could easily guess that Alex had no experience with women and didn't have a clue on how to react to flirting.
Alex stood by patiently as Tasean considered his offer. This was not something that was to be considered lightly, and Alex knew it. There was no telling just how horrified or traumatized this poor boy was, so anything that could possibly make the child even more scared must be avoided. While Alex would never do anything to make the child anymore scared or traumatized on purpose, his power could easily do it by mistake. A moment later Tasean seemed to agree, but he gave several conditions that Alex had to follow, and Alex was more then willing to follow them. "I'll follow your lead to the letter. The last thing we need is for that poor kid is to freak out at me. You say the word and I'll leave." Alex said with a nod, then glanced at a nearby window that was to the basement of the building nearby. The window had something dark behind it that almost looked like a rope... or a vine.
"Hm..." Alex mumbled in thought. Curious, Alex walked over to it, knelt down, and opened the window. It took a bit of a push to open the window, but he managed to get it open, and found that all he was seeing was some cob webbing. Still, he wanted to take a look in that room, but if the child was in there, he didn't want to freak him out. So, he reached into his jacket and grabbed his dagger and, with his eyes glowing green, pulled it out while changing it's shape so it looked like a mirror, and it was reflecting just as much like as a mirror would. With it, he slowly rotated the malachite mirror to reflect sunlight into the dark basement. To his surprise, the basement was actually quite large, as if he was looking at the basement for the entire building. The basement of that building was empty. He didn't see a single vine. Oh well, it was worth a try.
As he stood up, Alex shook his head and closed the window. "Not in that basement. I was able to see to the far side. Out of curiosity, would this boy prefer to be outdoors or indoors?" Alex asked, wondering if they were going to have to check every single building as well as the alleyways.
The moment that the young woman had slipped her arm into Rooks, the malachite manipulator quickly shut up and his cheeks gained a slight shade of pink. If there was one thing Alex had never experienced, it was having a woman grab him that way. Heck, he had never even flirted with a female before, mainly because he never had the guts. And yet here, out in the open, a very beautiful woman that was way out of his league had slipped her arm into his own. Sure, he had guessed it was to help with their cover... but... still... he was arm 'n arm with someone of the female persuasion! Alex knew for a fact if he uttered a single word his voice would be a high pitched squeak instead of his normal deep and calm tone.
Trying to calm down, Alex glanced down at the woman's arm holding his own, then glanced back at her face, avoiding direct eye contact at the same time by looking at her hair line instead. When she had stated that he was gonna be poor if he kept giving away money, he wasn't quite sure how to reply to that, since he had only done that so they could keep moving, besides it was only three dollars. Knowing he couldn't speak clearly yet, all he responded with was a slight shrug, and continued on with the young woman still holding onto his arm. All thoughts of the cops catching them had started to leave Alex's mind and all he could think about how awkward he felt with having a woman holding onto his arm, and how he didn't have a clue as to what to do about it. Sure, it was just to help with their cover... but still...
As Alex attempted to stay calm, he took a deep breath and slowly let it out in an attempt to get rid of the stress, but feeling the young woman's arm on his own was still more then enough to get him stressed out again, and glancing back down at the young woman's arm around his own was enough to make him blush a tiny bit more. It was enough of a distraction that Alex was having trouble focusing on his tourist act. However when the young woman asked if there was anything else that he wanted, that had helped, a little. To answer the question, Alex slowly shook his head and continued to walk on.
Beads of sweat were starting to form on his forehead as he glanced down at the young woman's arm that was still holding his, and was trying to ignore it, but was doing a rather poor job at it since it made him think about it even more, and he started to bite his lower lip nervously as the thought what do I do? kept running through his head as if it was on a record player that was stuck on the same part of the record. Why the heck did she grab onto him like that? He didn't even know her name for goodness sakes! You don't just grab onto a person's arm unless you were feeling affectionate towards them! Was she enjoying the fact that she was making him a nervous wreck or was he actually hiding it so that she didn't notice it? Sure, she only did it to help with there cover but come on! What did she want from...
The sound of police sirens shattered Alex's nervousness and quickly got him focused again. Glancing over his shoulder, he saw three police cars and at least one squad car pull up to the clay pot shop and quickly break down the door and rush in with weapons drawn. Despite seeing this, Alex's pace didn't speed up or slow down. He just kept walking at the same speed in the same direction, which was away from the clay pot store... unless the woman changed directions, then he would follow her.
Alex stood by as the young woman walked passed the threshold of the back door into the pottery shop and glanced around the shop, as if she was surprised that the back door had been locked. After she had called into the shop to see if there was anyone there, she had quickly headed towards a specific spot in the shop, as if she knew exactly where to look for the camera. Now Alex was convinced that this woman had some telepathic abilities of some kind. The crook didn't say a word about where the camera was, but she clearly knew where it was, so either she had seen it earlier and guessed that it was the criminal's camera, or she had taken that knowledge from him. Either way, the woman had what she came back for.
As the young woman headed towards the camera though, Alex checked the door knob so their fingerprints wouldn't be there, and it turned out that the knob for the back door was caked in clay dust. It would be impossible for the police to pick fingerprints off of a coating of dust. Also as Alex looked at the door knob, he noticed why the door was locked. It used an old fashioned Mortise-T lock, a type of door locked that automatically locked when ever it was shut. No wonder the door was locked when they had arrived, and Alex wouldn't need to re-lock it.
The moment that the woman was out the door, Alex shut it back up with his dagger and heard the door lock click into the locked position, then placed it back into it's scabbard, and his eyes stopped glowing as a result. At the mention of rejoining the crowd like normal shoppers, Alex nodded in agreement and started to make his way through the crowd along with the young woman. As they moved through the crowed, Alex picked up a whiff of his favorite fruit at a nearby fruit stand, and it smelled really fresh. He hadn't had it in so long that his mouth started to water on the spot. "We might as well buy a few things while we're at it. Might help with the cover." Alex muttered before breaking off and heading towards the street side fruit stall. Once he arrived, he was glad to see that his nose hadn't fooled him. There, on display in the center of the stall, were five ripe dragon fruit that were on sale for three dollars and 50 cents a piece... a steal! Alex quickly handed the stall keeper ten dollars and picked up two of the freshest dragon fruits and put them in a plastic bag that the stall owner gave Alex for free, then offered Alex three dollars in change. "Nah. Keep the change." Alex stated with a smile, and rejoined the young woman as he tied a knot in the plastic bag to keep the exotic fruit within the baggie, and then glanced around to see if there was anything else that struck him as interesting. If Alex was trying to play the part of a tourist, he was succeeding.
As Emerald said that Hokee was just being a stupid pup, and that she was more then willing to punch the kid for Alex, the malachite manipulator gave a sad smile and slowly shook his head. He had run into Hokee's type before; a type of person whom always thinks they are right even when they are wrong, and they refuse to take any discipline of any kind. They couldn't be negotiated with, and the only way to get on their good side was to grovel to them.... and there was no way Alex was gonna do that with Hokee. "There wouldn't be any point in hitting that twerp. Might make you feel good, but the only think Hokee would learn is how to nurse a bad bruise while on crutches. He would've learned nothing." Alex stated in a sad tone, remembering his nephew, whom had been killed because he pissed off the wrong person.
Alex leaned forwards a little bit in his chair as the redhead said that his gift was amazing as well, and it could be quite useful in a fight and he would have an advantage in that area. Alex didn't want to jump to conclusions, but he couldn't help but think that she was impressed with his power as much as he was impressed with hers, and couldn't help but smile warmly as a result. "Thank you, although it doesn't take much for me to lose power. Just knock the malachite that I'm manipulating out of my hands and that is, outta power." Alex stated, then quickly grew puzzled when he realized that he had just told her how to defeat him. Why did he just do that? That didn't make any sense. It was as if he trusted her with the knowledge of his Achilles's Heel... but they just met! How could he trust her like that already? Averting his gaze away from Emerald, Alex couldn't help but wonder if there was another mutant nearby that was manipulating his mind to give up his secrets... but he didn't feel anything on his mind that would make him give up his secrets... he was doing it himself, but why? He couldn't understand the reason he was doing it... until he thought about his aspergers disorder.
That had to be it. Most people with aspergers had a great amount of trouble trusting people, but when they did find someone they trusted, they would tell them every single one of their secrets, even if it turned out that the trust was misplaced. Trying to get his mind off of that, Alex decided to change the direction of the conversation. "So... uh... how long have you been here at the mansion? You work here?" Alex asked curiously, though it was written all over his face that he was just trying to change the topic. Not the best questions to say for sure, but at least it was something.
After Alex had called Emerald's wolf form beautiful, he suddenly started wondering why he phrased his sentence that way, and had actually wondered if that word had actually come out of his mouth. Yes, it did come out of his mouth, and he knew the reason why too; it was the truth, and if Alex hadn't phrased his sentence before hand then was comes out of his mouth is always the truth. Alex had found Emerald's wolf form beautiful... though in truth the word he should've used at that moment was 'amazing' or 'cool.' Either one would've been more appropriate then beautiful. They were complete strangers, so him calling her wolf form beautiful could've been considered awkward or even worse.
However it didn't seem like Emerald was taken aback from his comment, but then again he always did have trouble reading a person's facial expression. The puzzled look on Alex's face faded when Emerald apologized about hitting him with her shoe. As she introduced herself and explained that she had a very hard time finding her voice again after she talked in her wolf form, Alex slowly nodded, understanding. The maw of a wolf was very different from that of a human mouth. Attempting to form human words from something that wasn't even shaped like a human mouth must have been extremely difficult. When Emerald mention that she thought she'd save him from the disrespectful Hokee, Alex couldn't help but grin. "Yeah, thanks for showing up when you did. Hokee hand I could've come to blows if you didn't show up when you did, and any chance of getting a job here would've been down the tubes." Alex stated with a thankful nod. admitting that he was hoping to indeed get a job here at the mansion, though what job he didn't say what job just yet.
Glancing back down at the shoe in his lap, and the other shoe that was next to the recliner he was sitting in, he decided to give them back to her. What most people would do would be to gently toss the shoes across the floor, but with how bad a throw he was chances were that he would either break the windows or one of the lamps in the living room. Besides, he already knew what her gift was since they first met while she was in wolf form, so in his eyes it was only fair that she get to see his own gift. So, after leaning over to pick up the shoe that was on the floor, he placed it on his lap next to the other shoe, then reached into his leather jacket and curled his fingers around the hilt of the malachite dagger. A moment later, his flawless cyan eyes started to glow green and a malachite grasping claw grew out of the pommel of the dagger and gently grabbed both shoes. Then a malachite rod carefully grew out of the dagger and headed towards the floor in front of the couch that Emerald was on, with the claw holding the shoes on the end of the rod. When the shoes were only an inch from the floor and roughly two inches away from the couch, the claw's fingers grew apart and the shoes fell gently to the ground, which was quickly followed by the rod and claw retracting back towards Alex and slipped back into his jacket.
As Alex withdrew his hand from his jacket, his eyes stopped glowing green and returned to their normal cyan color. With a shrug and a warm smile, Alex simply said, "Honestly, I think your gift is far more amazing then my own."
