The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Amelia staggered. Amelia stumbled. Amelia had escaped Kealey's clutches (if you could call those clutches) and somehow found her way to Gawain's room. Or Maya's. Or sometimes Megan's. It really didn't matter whose at the moment. She just needed a warm body to share her traumas with. Whoever it was would get the full brunt of them when she let them out. That'd be pretty cool for them, she supposed. Supposing she ever stopped being traumatized or giggling.
Knocking was so overrated these days. Real women slumped against their boyfriends doors and bonked the backs of their heads.
Both girls bowed their heads. Not bad. Not bad. Sewer King inclined his chin towards the two of them, then jerked his head towards his wing men.
"Avalon. Atropos. Check them out."
A sign of intelligence? Of caution? Nope. The two young mutants on either side smirked little fanged smirks. They approved. One also had a bit of caution, more than his boss thought to exercise. His red eyes scanned the duo. For a moment, Amelia felt hot. He shook his head upon finding nothing, but did not mention a thing.
His twin smiled all friendly-like at them. "So, what are your names?"
So, the Kate girl was out because it was warm... and she didn't usually get to go out in the rain. Interesting. Must have some sort of power... Amelia's thoughts strayed. But not too far.
Back on-topic, she said. "I was going to check out the garden. Kealey's ranted about it a few times, so I figured 'why not?' Usually, I'd be going with Gawain, but... guess he's busy." She didn't frown. "Guess I'll just have to go out there with him later. While the flowers are still in bloom."
She had not heard much about this 'Sam'. Well. Except for whatever students at the mansion had said. And students at the mansion, as a rule, said quite a bit. Not all of it was positive. She had yet to meet him. Judging from what womenfolk often said, she figured maybe Gawain was keeping it that way on purpose...
Spiders were cool. Amelia nodded, impressed.
"I figured you didn't have carpet crawlers." She said. "Wasn't sure, but figured. They're neat. Always been a fan of spiders."
Some girls go 'ew'. Amelia thought spiders were fascinating. So long as she was not walking through their webs.
She supposed it was. She didn't add anything else. Silence had a chance at falling. Forget awkward silences. Amelia cut it off at the pass.
"My name's Ami," she announced. "Any special reason you're out in the rain?"
On a normal day, such a thing might be cold. Today it wasn't that cold. It was actually kind of nice. Maybe that was what the other girl was thinking. Or maybe she was simply insane~
The garden behind the mansion was amazing. Kealey had ranted to her about that one day. She'd decided today was a good day to explore. And with the rain coming down, all warm and nice, she was hoping for a rainbow. That would make it twice as nice.
She ignored the umbrella. She really didn't think she needed it. She went with a hoodie instead. Hoods worked for her. It was nice.
This whole thing was nice. Walking in the rain, being happy.
Some ways ahead, someone else was being happy. What the heck were they doing? Sitting on a rock, sunbathing in the rain. Her curiosity got the best of her. Amelia bridged the distance between them and plopped down on the grass by the rock. Without turning to address the person she said to the sky "It's nice, isn't it?" She let the words hang in the air.
His fingers came together forming a steeple as he leaned forward, listening. Two girls. One lackey. He was somewhat impressed. He'd known the kid was slick, but this... usually, he might have been upset about outsiders in their midst. About the possibility of betrayal, of not knowing the new players or having someone truly trustworthy to vouch for them. But according to this guy, they were really, really, really cute. So he dismissed logical questions and hesitancy, as he was a bit of a perv.
Sewer King grinned. "Bring them to me." He wanted to see their darling faces.
The oily lackey nodded obediently. "Yes, my lord." And off he went.
***
He came around the corner, jerking a thumb over his shoulder back towards from where he'd came. "He wants to meet you," he said. "Don't muck this up."
Amelia rolled her eyes. "What, me worry?" She quoted Alfred E. Neuman. They had this one in the bag.
"I make these ghostly hands and they can grab things and pull. So yeah. Psychic atomic wedgies," she confirmed, loving the approval. "Works on other types of clothing, too."
Good times.
The announcement came, and Amelia glanced out the window. Yup. Pretty much nearly there.
"It is," she said. "Oh yeah. I can also feel with my powers, if you were wondering. Aren't I cool?"
>>"I sure hope they do, because aside from my kids and the occasional streak of good like I'm pretty bad at hand to hand... or sword to hand, or whatever it is you X's fight with.."
Amelia nodded. Hand-to-hand. Sword-to-hand. "Gun to face." She added to the list. Another nod.
"He can live." She replied, when Megan suggested all the things they could do if they held Gawain down.
... She didn't think on that.
"Yeah. It is pretty smart, I guess." Testing on computers. She agreed, happy for distractions. "Also, pretty neat."
Program anything? Again, she nodded. "Yup. Like martial arts movies, or...well. Simpler things. I guess the limit is one's imagination. And powers work on the fake things like they would on real life. I think.... hm." She thought about it for a second. "Although I don't think I actually got a chance to use my powers on the emperor himself. Just used them against him. So who knows?"
"Probably." Amelia replied to that last one. She chuckled and muttered to herself. "Maxine wouldn't stand a chance..." To Megan, she said. "The Danger Room is this big holographic training super room the X-men use to beat themselves up in, by the way. And I messed up because Gawain's insane and thought I could handle the emperor from a martial arts movie in hand-to-hand combat. I couldn't."
There. That was all neatly summarized in a single sentence.
Her mind locked onto 'girl scout uniform' with far more interest and ease than did it for 'goody-goodies' and 'nice people.' An eyebrow arched in amusement. Girl school uniform, huh? And Sam. Her bra. Interesting. Also, children.
"Children," Amelia seized the topic like a dog grabs its favorite chew toy. "You have children?"
There was no judging in the question, just curiosity. After all, things weren't always what they seemed. What one might call 'children', another might call 'a hell of a lot of cats'. Which was a 'clowder.' The more you knew.
"Gawain, your ex-roommate is super interesting." It seemed everyone was grinning now. "She can stay."
