The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

My-uh, what a nice room you have here!(mirror/Ami)
It had been a while since she had last bothered the kids at the school, and it was long past due.
Honestly, she knew she was treading a thin line. Having spent so much time on disappearing, to just show up at one of her old haunts was dangerous. Part of her, a large part mind you, was now absolutely sure she had lost her stalker... but, there was still a small part of her that refused to ditch the idea that she was being followed, spied on, and actively watched. Thankfully, she was able to suppress those foolish notions quite easily. She doubted that Trent had enough resources to follow her forever, anyway.
Megan was rejoicing in her new freedom, and one of the first things she had decided to do was visit a young friend of hers.
After a small hassle of getting into the mansion, what with her new face and all, it got straightened out and she marched on up the familiar path, stopping before the one door she had ever bothered to look behind. She didn't even bother to knock, simply turning the knob and stepping on inside.
"...Hello?" No voices greeted her, but after a moment she heard something. Paws on floor, panting.... She recalled her sometimes roommate had gotten a dog, which she had met once before. If she recalled correctly, the little thing like chewing on spiders... Hmm, what was it's name? She was half way into the room, trying to recall what Gawainya had called it, when the pup came careening from out of the bathroom. Only... it was a pup no longer. Megan had a half of a second to inwardly panic about what she was absolutely sure to be an imminent mauling, when the big doggy knocked her to the floor and started mercilessly licking her entire face.
"Augh! God, get off!" The rest of her sentence was a jumble of colorful cussing, while she struggled to get back to her feet.
Yeah right, good luck trying to enforce that in a school full of mutant teenagers.
Display of Affection all right. It started as a training session in the Danger Room. Gawain was generally very good at keeping play and work separate, as good knights always are. Except when he wasn't.
The shortest distance between the DR and the bedroom was via mirrors, so that was the route they took. They stumbled out of the full sized mirror on the bedroom wall, with Gawain carrying Ami and Ami... well. She was effecive with pulling on clothes.
"Umpfh" Gawain groaned as his legs hit an overly excited Angua. The dog really needed her own room. Or house. Or Mansion, really. He's need to lock her out first before...
... um.
There was one hot chick too many in the room. And it wasn't even a Maya day.
Those stomach muscles. Her hand moved beneath his shirt. And those lips. Her lips kept their sights set on his. Through the mirror they went, and they did not stray.
There was a sudden jarring halt. A grunt. The sound of slobbering.
She supposed she'd have to turn her attentions elsewhere for a moment. "Aaaaanguaaa," she complained as her head turned. Another jarring halt. Her jaw dropped a quarter inch. She suddenly noticed Gawain had tensed up and that there was a strange woman present in his room. She didn't miss a beat. Conversationally, she quested. "Hey, who are you?"
Yes, she was in her boyfriends arms with a hand under his shirt, and yes, they'd been kissing, but they suddenly had 'company!' She couldn't help but be a 'friendly' host.
The dog ceased licking when it's owner came home, and she couldn't have been more happy. The damn thing had managed to clean most of her eyeshadow off, and her bangs may as well have been hair sprayed straight up with slobber. Wiping her face clean of Anuga breath and left over saliva, she squinted up at the one, or one's, who had saved her from more feverish licking.
It was Gawain... and some girl.
Blinking, it only took a heart beat for a smirk to curve her lips. "Did I catch you at a bad time, Gawainya?" She questioned, an innocent tone in her voice, while completely ignoring the question that had been asked of her.
From what she could see, she most definitely had. Under the circumstances, she would have probably excused herself and left Gawain alone... but, she hadn't seen him in a while, and she was mighty curious about the girl he was with.
"So, this is the girlfriend then? 'Bout time I get to meet her."
She didn't bother to move from her spot, instead choosing to keep an arm free to hold the large dog back if needed, and attempted to look like she just belonged on the floor, slouched over, with her feet crossed over each other.
Gawain shifted uncomfortably and put Ami down, making sure she was standing on her own feet. Well this was not embarrassing at all... he could feel himself go red in the cheeks (well, more red than he already was, for a completely unrelated reason). Ami seemed no less confused, but as always, she took it well.
>>"Did I catch you at a bad time, Gawainya?"
Gawain stared at the strange girl on the floor. She was eerily familiar...
>>"So, this is the girlfriend then? 'Bout time I get to meet her."
... oh hell.
"Char... MEGAN?!" he blinked, shock finally pumping som blood back into his brain, at least to the part where speech was stored. Angua yipped and bounced around which was a considerable accomplishment from a dog that big in a space that small.
He coulda kept holding her, but okay. He set her down in front of him, closer to the mystery lady (who still hadn't answered her question!), and... stayed behind her. He did not meet the challenge head-on. Welp. She s'posed she ought to be the better host.
Was he hiding behind her? Hmph. She ignored that thought. He knew the girl. What the hell was right.
"Hi, Megan." She said in her most even, most dangerous tone. "How are you? What brings you here. To my boyfriend's room today?"
She tilted her head. This answer was going to be good.
Sending a full out grin Gawain's way, Megan pushed herself to her feet finally, dusting off her rump and tugging her hoodie back into place. "I know, shocking.. isn't it?"
The girlfriend, whom she had mostly ignored up till now, spoke again. She shifted her full attention. "Me? Oh, I'm dandy. Just thought I'd drop by and see how my roomie was going. Obviously well, from the looks of it."
Turning an impish gaze back to gawain, she crossed her arms over her chest and chuckled. "I thought I taught you the sock on the door trick?"
>>"Hi, Megan. How are you? What brings you here. To my boyfriend's room today?"
Uh-oh, Ami was doing that thing with the thing that girls like to refer to as a "conversation", and is the girly version of a standoff. Gawain blinked and stayed behind Ami. Out of the line of fire.
Also, what the hell happened to Megan's face?!
>>"I know, shocking.. isn't it? Me? Oh, I'm dandy. Just thought I'd drop by and see how my roomie was going. Obviously well, from the looks of it."
He... could not argue with that.
>>"I thought I taught you the sock on the door trick?"
"Um... we didn't come in through the door." he pointed that out, gald that his brain showed some signs of functioning. Stick to the basics.
"Er... Megan, this is Ami, my girlfriend. Ami, this is Megan. My roommate."
Still peeking out from behind Ami, he archen an eyebrow at said roommate.
Amelia cut 'Megan' off before she could answer Gawain's question. "Roommate, huh?" She said. "Platonic or other?" FWB, FB, what? She looked to Gawain. "She isn't your ex, is she?" One would think they wouldn't let just anyone room with the resident gender-shifter. There had to be something here beyond 'Oh, sometimes I'm a girl. I'll be good.'
And what was the deal with the face comment? She didn't care, honestly. That question up there, the one she'd just requested answers to, that was more important. It was kinda paramount.
Ex? Icy eyes darted from Gawain, to the girl... Ami, and then back to Gawain. She full out grinned, might as well have purred, and cleared her throat a little.
Oh, this was going to be fun...
"...you didn't tell her about me? ...I'm hurt... "
Feigning an innocent look, angled his way, she turned her attention back to the dog that was now sniffing at her leg, as if trying to pick apart every single smell on her. Good luck with that one, pup. She thought to herself, wondering how a giant cockroach might smell to a canine of her caliber.
"I suppose you could say, Ami, that we have a platonic relationship." She smiled, a little too brightly, and finished her sentence. "Well, now we do, anyway.... I really should return that bra of yours one of these days... shouldn't I, Gawain?"
>> "Roommate, huh? Platonic or other? She isn't your ex, is she?"
And with that, Gawain went slightly green in the face and really wished he had Calley's powers to suddenly shift into a possum. Preferably a dead one.
>>"...you didn't tell her about me? ...I'm hurt... I suppose you could say, Ami, that we have a platonic relationship. Well, now we do, anyway.... I really should return that bra of yours one of these days... shouldn't I, Gawain?"
The young knight sighed and rolled his eyes.
"Sure. Sam's got yours." he muttered, glaring at her over Ami's shoulder, then turned to his girlfriend. "Megan used to be my self-declared roommate for a while. Just that. She moved in and..."
Oh. That. Gawain turned back to look at Megan, eyes narrowing as he looked at her new face.
Yeah, she caught the darting eyes. Saw that little tell. And the grin. Caught you. Amelia smiled.
>>"...you didn't tell her about me? ...I'm hurt... " The woman said.
She saw that coming. She could tell this lady's type. She wasn't going to fall for any trolling ploys. She'd dealt with that kind of person before.
Gawain gave clarification. Amelia bet he was wanting to avoid any repeats like the situation with Maxine. Good for him. She wasn't expecting this to be that. She figured Gawain's ex was cuter. From her grin and her body language, this one seemed like a nasty lady who liked causing trouble.
Amelia crossed her arms and said not a word. She'd let them sort it out.
She pouted. "Aww, ruin all my fun, why don't you."
Tucking her hands in the pockets of her coat, she dropped the act with a little bit of an eye roll, before a smile returned. "When am I not in trouble?" She shot back, in answer to his question.
"Really... I just wanted to stop by and see how you were doing. Figured it had been a little too long since I last showed up to ruin your day." Far too long... but, considering what she had inadvertently broken up, she was ready to call a job well done. It didn't get much better than roommates walking in on things, even if it was the guilty party doing all of the walking.
"As for the face thing, well.... that's a long, unimportant story. I'm doing just fine right now... really." It was the truth, however bizarre.... and she was perfectly happy with it. "Should I leave you two kids alone and come back later?" She shot the both of them a devious little smirk, and raised a brow questioningly.
>>"Aww, ruin all my fun, why don't you. When am I not in trouble?"
Gawain huffed and couldn't help but smirk, that was answer enough in itself.
>>"Really... I just wanted to stop by and see how you were doing. Figured it had been a little too long since I last showed up to ruin your day."
"You have no idea how I've missed it." he grinned. Megan was obnoxious and cheeky, but he still liked her. In a platonic roommate way, of course. And he still owed her one for the handcuff incident that shall not be mentioned...
>>"As for the face thing, well.... that's a long, unimportant story. I'm doing just fine right now... really. Should I leave you two kids alone and come back later?"
"Nah we're fine." he shrugged. The moment was gone anyway, and Ami would just want to talk more, Megan or no Megan. "So, are you moving back in? I mean, for more than a few days this time?"
She'd been right. Fun-ruining, indeed. And she was a trouble-maker. It was attracted to her, too. Good times.
Now that that little problem had been solved, she could start looking at the woman like a person, and not a problem. So she did.
Trouble-making wise-cracking friend of Gawain? She turned the thought over in her mind for a second as her eyes burrowed through Megan, into the wall. Then those eyes softened. ... Sign me up.
"I don't think we got off on the right foot with introductions," she cut in, offering her hand. "My name's Amelia. Ami for short. You're kind of stealing my nefarious plan there, Megan. By the by." She did not shoot Gawain any teasing glances as she dryly stated this fact.
