The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The leaves in the Lord of the Rings movies were SO PRETTY. As was the entire Elven city, and the elfs. And, as Gawain pointed out, it smelled good too. Yup. She was a fan.
>>"All right Panda you're the boss. Lead the way."
Amelia smirked and kept hold of his hand, pulling him along.
Nobody noticed as they swept through the city, under the trees, through courtyards, admiring the amazing architecture as they went.
What time was it in the movie? Frodo had already woken up. It was nearly time for a-- scene change. All leading had been for nothing, because the whole world shifted around them and suddenly they were on-set for the discussion of the fate of the ring. Amelia listened, and waited, grinning at Gawain as they stood near Legolas. She didn't even glance Elf-Boy's way. It was obvious she had the better archer. Finally, it came time for volunteers.
Aragorn came forward to kneel in front Frodo. "You have my sword." He said.
Gandalf glanced back and forth shiftily. Gave Elrond 'the look.'
"And you have my bow." Legolas offered his services gladly.
Not one to be overshadowed, Gimli stepped boldly forward with a smirk. "And my axe," he growled.
He stepped beside Legolas and each appraised the other. This was their chance. This was the moment to enter the scene. Amelia squeezed Gawain's hand, then pulled him into the limelight with her.
"And his bow," she noted. A smile. "And my magical ghostly float-hands. That can levitate boots."
Gandalf nearly had an accident in his surprise as everyone on-scene spun on them drawing their blades.
"Who are you?" Aragorn muttered.
Legolas looked down the shaft of his arrow at them inquiringly. "How did you get here?"
Gimli glowered. "What vile magic is this?"
Amelia didn't stammer or fade back. "We wish to aid your group in its cause. As proof of our good will, we can bring intelligence on the enemy forces and a statement that if we had evaded your detection this easily only to come forward now to offer our services, we could have done much worse and sooner at any given point in time. We did not. We come in peace. This is a great cause, and we feel you will need all the help you can get."
She winked at Gimli. His grip on his axe tightened, as did Legolas's hold on his attack. Another squeeze on Mirror's hand. Now would be a perfect time for him to add something witty to her introductory funtimes. Or maybe he'd just stand there going 'derp.'
Amelia agreed, about the movie messing. Enough people had done that with his power, he really didn't need any more on his conscience. Plus, if she started making out with Gimli that'd ruin someone's Legolas Gimli ship and she'd be a life-wrecker. She was kidding, of course. About the Gimli snogging. Nobody used the word snogging these days. It was so Harry Potter.
Through the forests, past the Brandywine, through the inn and related inn hijinks they went. On and on and on and on to... Elrond's house. To Many Meetings. Finally, they reached it.
Was she ready? She took that hand. "Damn straight." Was her reply.
On the way in, she saw Gawain with his team. Pink hair, Becca, and more. They passed them, leaving Mr. Pink Hair Jenkins to his duties. Evacuating the building of people, and it looked like, glass.
Man, the building's furniture was making a mess.
Kealey tackled a filing cabinet, and Amelia noted, maybe she shouldn't have done that.
There were a few introductions, then Amelia chimed in after Kealey. "Name's Amelia. Ami for short."
"I can manipulate clothing. So," this was a new trick, but stripping her gloves off, she filled them with structures from her mind. The two gloves hovered in the air in front of her. She wiggled the fingers on hand hand at the bearded guy in a wave. "I can probably shove some furniture around from a distance. Tell me where I'm needed." She'd be glad to help.
The car ride to the scene of the mission had been crowded. And fast. Amelia sunk down in her seat, oversized Maya costume hopefully looking good on her as the collar pushed up high around her neck. This was a first. An X Mission... and she wasn't even an X. Someone would probably comment on it. But nobody had yet. She'd made it to the group just in time to pile in with them all. She'd even neglected to give Becca a little awkward nod. They could talk about greetings later.
More bumps. More stop signs avoided ... then there they were.
She glanced around at the media and police circuses dueling out front, glad to be with the group that didn't need to flash too many credentials to get in.
The tower loomed as she looked up at it. A voice from Gawain tore her attention away from the shining glass.
He mentioned several goals. Her mind seized upon one or two she could help with. Some people volunteered... And then some guy ran in, shouting some sort of MMO reference. Or maybe not SHOUTING it out. Not the entire thing. But she'd watched that video enough to place the reference and roll her eyes.
Seriously?
Well. It was time to pick teams.
>>"I'll take three others with me to find the mutant."
>>“I can get in and scope out for survivors or the mutant causing this,” one guy said.
And then a kid with blue hair and orange reptilian skin cut in.
>>"Ssir? I recommended checking the ssecurity camerass for cluess and recon, I am going to climb to the top out here, but I think that would be a good place to start. I requessted the officerss had the power cut in ten minutess, sso thats a limited time advantage."
And said some more stuff.
He looked familiar.
Everything was happening rapidly around her, and it was hard to keep up. People ran in and said more stuff. It was a good thing for her Kealey was there to step in and hold her hand. It kind of annoyed her, the hand-holding, in a totally understandable but still embarrassing teenager-wanting-to-be-the-boss way. She got over it quick.
She was with her? Late?
"Great."
Kealey spoke into the communicator and Amelia scratched the back of her neck impatiently. She didn't have one of those. It would probably be smart if she kept close.
"I'm with you," she said.
When Kealey was ready, they rushed their way into the building. Her hands clenched into gloved fists as she ran.
"Shiloh." A middle name. Because he was not going to get her first name.
>>"Ah hae nowhere else tae go..."
Sewer King smirked. He could think of a few places that were worth staying. "Well, our home is your home," he stated cheerfully. "As long as you abide by our rules."
The twins nodded grimly with the best cheerful smiles they could muster, which ultimately made the two actions contradict each other and resulted in a failure to make an impression on Amelia as to either side of the agreement. She did not ask what happened to the people who broke rules. For some reason, she felt it might involve giant sewer gators and food.
"Avalon," he clapped. "Do you think you could show these two to my room? Oh. I mean their room!" He laughed to himself. Good one, boss. And rules were rules.
That did it. The twins didn't see anything but the blur of distorted air as the fist flew at their leader's chest and knocked him from the throne. He landed in a puddle of something with a splash. Amelia did not adopt a fighting posture. Her head was still bowed.
"What the hell was that?!" Sewer King demanded.
Their friend, the guy who'd escorted them down into the tunnel, was stunned. He started to apologize, but Amelia stopped him by locking her eyes on the puddle of scum. "Disrespect." She stated. "I was going to play it cool, but I realized we really don't have time to Batman this up and infiltrate your Undercity society. Let these kids go."
Sewer King's face was a red hot mask of fury. "No."
Heh. Was she getting reprimanded for liking lemon sweet tea? She couldn't help but shake her head with a laugh and play it cool. A lesser person might have gotten mad, but... well, how could one get mad at a friendly British girl talking about tea with a discerning taste and opinions? And her mother.
"It's okay," she said towards the cupboard. "My mom's a bit of a tea nut, too. But I usually stick to the sweet stuff, or green tea... I'm usually more into coffee." Her fingers found the box of biscuits and she jiggled it at Kate.
Kate agreed, biscuits 'yes'.
Amelia set the box down on the counter, then moved to get out a few plates.
"My brother is all about coffee. Kind of makes it hard to get into tea when Aurum's going gaga over the newest Starbucks blends. Or more accurately, crazy hipster stuff I don't even know about. He frowns on the pre-made, sugar-processed garbage too. So when he makes stuff, he usually makes it from scratch... which explains why his cookies are probably better than these 'biscuits'." Which were really just simple Milano cookies from a box.
Shake, shake, shake. Droplets fell from the umbrella, onto the ground. When she was satisfied, she folded and tied off the umbrella. Then, she carried it in with her.
That tea set sure was beautiful. And heh. HERBAL. With an H sound. So very British. And posh.
"Would that 'fruit flavor' happen to be lemon tea?" Amelia asked hopefully. "If not, I could go for some mint. Granting that Herbal," with a hard H sound. "Includes Mint. Otherwise, Black." My, that had been quite the list.
Amelia set the umbrella down by the side of the stove, then moved to rummage through the shelves of a cabinet for some cookies. Er. "Biscuits?" She glanced back towards Kate inquisitively, holding up a box.
Using some of her clothes? She supposed that could work. They were practically the same height, after all (Kate being slightly taller). Amelia nodded.
And tea and movies? Getting to know her? Well, this had suddenly turned into an afternoon of fun.
"Sure," Amelia smiled.
When they reached the glass doors, she turned towards the rain, umbrella in-hand. "You go in first. I'll shake this thing out..." She said. She didn't think Kate would want it dripping all over the carpet, all the way up to the dorms.
Amelia scrunched up her nose, and let her head shake from side to side. "I'm not actually a resident," she said. She held the umbrella up over the both of them. "I just hang out here some days helping out in the library, or spending time with my Gawain."
Since she hadn't asked, she felt if fair to answer the unasked question. They call that preemptive measures in the military. "He's my boyfriend, after all." She smiled. "It actually surprises me I haven't met you yet. But then, he hasn't really introduced me to all of his friends..." She'd only just met Megan recently. And Twyla. And she didn't have anything warm to change into. Frick. Maybe she could steal something of Gawain's...
Yup. Knight in Shining armor complex, check. And wait, what? She did a double-take. Gawain knew this girl? She tilted the umbrella so she could get a better look. Yeah. She was gorgeous. Made sense.
"Going inside sounds amazing," she commented, then casually added. "So, how do you know Gawain? Also. Hope they have lemon."
"You know, I've always been impressed by your power when they show you on the news shows. The pink glowing drills and whatnot. I've got to wonder... my power makes these sort-of-invisible hands. I know a guy who can make all sorts of things with his powers and his mind. I've tried and it's kind of difficult. Do you think I would have better luck if they were bright pink and more visible?"
A ghostly hand hovered in the space between the two of them on the couch. It clenched into a thumbs up, then turned downwards as Amelia tilted her head inquiringly.
Amelia took the umbrella. It still didn't change the fact that she was wet, even when it was popped open and held up. She did it, all the same.
"Still wet," she commented wryly. "Would be nice if I had a mutation that dried clothes... rather than one that was affected when clothes were weighed down..." Her voice dropped slightly in a dark chuckle just loud enough for Kate to still hear. "... Although I bet Gawain would have something to say of wet t-shirts right about now."
Pitter patter went the rain against the umbrella's top.
