The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It was nearly impossible, staring Agnes down and trying to contain a rising fit of giggles. Gina was grinning like a maniac, but no matter what, she simply had to resist the urge to start cackling. Agnes seemed confused enough as it was, the unspoken conversation going right over her head. Yet, as they sat there, exchanging two, very different glances, something seemed to snap in Agnes's mind. So, she'd caught on--
>> "Gina ... no. Don't you dare."
Gina couldn't help it. She giggled mischeviously, like a kid who'd been caught with their hand in the cookie jar. But, her laughter didn't last long-- Gina really didn't have a particular person in mind, yet, and Agnes sounded pretty intense, and not in the good way. She sounded a little... mad, maybe, scared and annoyed, too? And, as Agnes continued talking, she realized that Agnes really did mean business.
>> “I’m not going to allow you set me up with someone. You do and I’m never making you chocolate milk again.”
Gina frowned-- was her taste in people really so terrible? She had to admit, she had a difficult time finding fault in others, but she wasn't a complete and total poor judge of character. But to absolutely forbid Gina from setting Agnes up with someone, and to never make her chocolate milk again if she did so? That was really harsh, so she knew that Agnes meant business. Gina held a wrapped chocolate in her hands, tugging at the wrapper without tearing it off of the candy speculatively. She licked her lips, as if preparing for the words she was about to say.
"Just like that, huh? I set you up with anyone, and you revoke my chocolate milk privleges," Gina smiled, laughed faintly, "Geez, Agnes, you're really serious about this?" She made a small tear in the corner of the candy's packagain, hefted her gaze towards Agnes's once again, "What if she was really nice? It'd just be a casual date, and if you didn't like her, no sweat-- c'est la vie. You wouldn't have to get serious with her." What was so wrong with having a little fun-- or casually dating and playing the field? They were teenagers, for God's sake, they had their whole lives to get serious with someone, but the teenaged years were a time to explore.
Gina finally unwrapped her chocolate, popped it into her mouth, and chewed quietly, still watching Agnes. She realized that this was probably a moot point, so when she spoke, Gina had adopted a tone of nonchalance to show that, if Agnes was really, truly serious about not getting hooked up with anyone that Gina set her up with, it wouldn't hurt her feelings. (And, it truly didn't, for Gina didn't even have a specific person in mind. The whole discussion, in Gina's head, was a "what-if?" scenario.) But, perhaps Agnes thought she meant "right here, right now", let's do a double-date? So Gina clarified--
"Not now, I mean. I'm speaking hypothetically... like, if I found someone I thought you'd like, if you'd give them a shot? I don't have a specific girl off of the top of my head... it isn't as though there's some mystery woman right outside the door, waiting for the go-ahead before coming in..." A smile touched Gina's lips as she said the words "mystery woman", and she wiggled her finger's in Agnes's direction, as if to be spooky.

The girl twirled underneath the torrents of ink so that it splashed evenly, and Gina watched with an uncontained look of interest. The girl seemed to approve, holding up a hand to show that she was slowly absorbing the ink through her skin. She could have just told Gina that she was a mutant, her peculiar antics would have made more sense-- not absolute sense, but it would have clarified things a little bit more.
Gina crossed her arms speculatively, watching as the ink sank into her skin along one arm, and then beginning to twine down the other.
"So you're a mutant, too," Gina mused aloud, shifting a speculative gaze towards the runner-girl, "Are you making a tattoo?" It was always so hard to tell who was mutated and who wasn't, when it came to those human-looking types. You never knew who was who, in big cities like this.

The battle cry of the French boy was enough to make Gina pause and glance over her shoulder. Was that-- no, he couldn't be talking about the jerk in the suit-- she glanced over her shoulder and saw that, yes, it was the boy from before, he was indeed chasing the same man, and was loudly declaring that this suited man was the thief. Gina didn't much care who he was-- be he thief or prince of a far-off land. He needed manners, and he would be getting a good scolding.
The boy managed to pass her with ease, and Gina let him go ahead. His goal was far nobler than her own, so she wasn't too concerned about getting to the bad guy after the French boy did. Yet, as he passed the gargoyle girl, she triggered some sort of shift in him-- as he ran, his feet split through his shoes, transitioning into a foot structure very much akin to Gina's. Gina paused. Perhaps, if she stopped pursuing him, the transformation would stop--?
For only a moment, she believed that her hairbrained scheme had worked, for she couldn't see the horns protruding from his head from this vantage point that she had from behind... but then, the boy held up his hands, and she saw that his fingers were gradually developing claws, and his skin was going from flesh-tone to grey, as if being overtaken by a disease-- the disease that was Gina's mutation. A sick feeling hit her stomach, and she watched in a mixture of fear and fascination as his skin gradulally became more overwhelmed by the gray.
The boy bent over in pain, and Gina swallowed her nerves-- this meant that either the wings, his tail, or both were about to emerge. Gina came to his side, placing a concerned hand on his shoulder. She was at a loss as per what to do, maybe a little bit frightened-- "What to Do in Case Another Mutant Starts Taking Your Form" wasn't exactly common knowledge, so Gina was rightfully worried.
"I'm really sorry," Gina breathed, "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry-- if I'd known--" But how could she have known? She wasn't only apologizing for the transformation, but for subconsciously writing him off as a crazy-boy as well, when he was really just an ability-copier gone haywire.
She removed her hand from his shoulder, stood to seek out the man in the suit. She could still see his retreating form making his way down the straightaway of the mall. He would have to wait though, because at this point in time, her primary concern was to make sure that the French boy was alright-- after all, she'd never "evolved" into being a gargoyle, she'd just been born the way she was. Thus, she imagined that, yes, this really was going to hurt.

Gina was still unscrewing the bottles' caps as the crazy-running-girl went right on rambling. Would it be bad if Gina admitted to the fact that she wasn't actually listening? Because this girl was really hard to follow. She was saying something about a high school girl and Halloween. Had the girl perhaps told Gina that she was a mutant right off of the bat, that part of her mutation was ink manipulation and that she just wanted to experiment with it, Gina perhaps wouldn't have been so full of blank stares and confusion. But no. The girl just darted up, pushed some bottles of ink into her hand, and instructed the baffled gargoyle-girl to throw the ink at her. And then, as if that wasn't enough, the girl added on--
>> "Yes, I am absolutely serious-- it’s honestly not that complicated of an idea. Or unusual. Seriously, I have come up with far weirder stuff than this."
That made Gina smile faintly. If this wasn't that unusual, then New York was stranger than she'd thought possible. And she'd thought New York was very strange, particularly compared to her hometown, which was stuck in the freespirit feel of the 70's. No one even compared to how bizarre this girl was.
"If you say so," Gina trailed, having finally loosened the caps on the bottles that she'd been handed. She took a step back hesitantly, glanced up and down the sidewalk... why the heck shouldn't she do this? For all she knew, she could have been getting Punk'd at this very moment, and nothing more...
She maneuvered the bottle into both of her hands, gave a precautionary, "You ready for this?", and then splash! she doused the girl with the first bottle before she did the same with the other. It all seemed to move in slow-motion, but once the ink had settled on the other girl's skin, Gina stared expectantly-- she didn't expect anything to happen, per se, she just wanted to say what the crazy-runner-girl would do next. She hesitantly replaced the caps on the bottles, and cautiously inquired, "Like that?"

>> “No, the ink in the bottles."
"Oh," Gina replied flatly, looking at the ink in the bottles. She wanted her to throw ink at her? That would be very difficult to wash out. The girl spoke so matter-of-fact'ly that Gina felt like a fool. She went on staring at the bottles until the running-girl began speaking once again.
>> "I want a kind of splattered pattern, but I can’t do it myself. Well, not without several hours or a Rube Goldberg machine, anyway, and I am so very much not an engineer of any kind.”
Gina second-guessed herself as the girl made a request about the pattern, and Gina bobbed her head as if it wasn't a problem. Was she acutally playing along with this psycho? She realized this, and froze. There weren't many crazies in Mendocino. In fact, there was only one. The rest were druggies, or there problems simply weren't enough to make them stand out, or they kept these issues to themselves. Gina glanced from the bottles to the girl. She didn't want to piss her off, but she didn't want a crazy-girl to follow her back to the Mansion.
And, as the girl went on rattling about something beyond what Gina could grasp, she simply nodded, though without assurance. she looked more put-off than much else. The girl didn't seem to get the hint, and kept going.
>> “Well, maybe. Not particularly much, anyway. At the moment the bottles wouldn’t have much distance to build up momentum, so they wouldn’t hit all that hard... anyway! Not what I meant.”
She broke off and waited expectantly for Gina to throw the ink at her, and Gina simply stared, eyebrow quirked inquiringly. This girl was dead serious? She was really for real, here?
"You're... absolutely serious?" she clarified, as she began to unscrew the bottles hesitantly. Maybe, if she simply appeased the girl's wishes, she'd leave her alone afterwards and not follow her around. For some reason, Gina noted, all the weirdos were attracted her. It was as though she sent out some signal that said she was a nice girl and would be polite to weirdos.

From about September 8th to Septhember 12th (or maybe 13th), I probably won't be around on the boards. My eldest cousin is getting married on the 10th, and it's going to be an extended weekend of partying heartily. I may peek into the cbox, if you really need to get a hold of me, but it's unlikely.
Just wanted to put this up lest I forget later on in the week, since I still have some last minute gift-y things to take care of. =_= This only influences the activity of Gina.

Perhaps it was the recent events that had left her jaded, or events of the past, or good ol' teenage angst, but whatever it was, that was her opinion. She was surprised to see that her explanation had sent Agnes into a speculative silence, as if it were some profound idea. It wasn't that Gina had written off humans entirely, it was just that he'd have to be a nice guy, to compliment the fact that she was a nice and abnormal-looking girl. A guy that was in it for ther personality. Or just bizarre, and really into the whole visibly mutated-girl thing. She hadn't said it to be depressive, it was just how she saw things, at the ripe old age of fifteen. And she only needed one guy to prove her wrong. But Agnes seemed to have taken it to heart, and perhaps taken it wrong. That was okay, Gina didn't need to try and explain herself in any more depth.
>> “I’ll get over it. I usually do. And when I do, when I meet your fantastic Johnny Depp looking gargoyle-boy, we can double date.”
That comment caught Gina on her unawares, and she had almost begun to laugh without realizing that she still had chocolate in her mouth, and she choked momentarily. Luckily, it was a small chocolate, and most of the way chewed, so she managed to swallow it, but not without looking like an absolute fool.
"Oh baby, Johnny Depp?!" she exlaimed, out of breath from her almost-choking, "Ooh, if I found that paired with my mutation--" Gina slouched back, a hand fluttering to her chest wordlessly as she envisioned such a glorious, wonderful thing, "It would be a beautiful thing." That boy wouldn't be single very long, if his personality checked-out just fine. He didn't even have to be a gargoyle boy. He could have just the wings, or just a tail, or something else absolutely bizarre and wonderful. He didn't even have to be visibly mutated.
"That would be a lot of fun," Gina agreed, nodding her head slowly, "Even if I didn't have the luxury of being accompanied by a God-like, Johnny Depp-lookalike, gargoyle-boy-- I might even just find a casual date, just for the heck of it, for a double-date." Gina mused. There were plenty of boys at the school. Nice guys, who'd be fun to take on a date, even if it wasn't a serious date.
She dared to fish out another chocolate, unwrapped it expertly, and nibbled the corner. Maybe go mini-golfing. Or bowling, even if Gina could wear the shoes. They could have a lot of fun with that. But, who would they go with? Gina peered at Agnes with that look in her eyes-- the "who could I hook Agnes up with?" look. Gina knew that her emotional wounds from breaking up with Rhythm were still fresh, but she couldn't help but get that look in her eyes. Finding another girl just made it all the more of a challenge, but Gina didn't care. God only knew how Agnes would react, once she saw those gears turning in Ginas' eyes.

To Gina, it was a hot day, and she was dressed like it-- loose, flowing dress, some bangles and some tights. She'd even dones something with her hair other than tie it into a ponytail (--today, it had been fastened into a large clip, in something of a sloppy bun). It was days like these that made pixie cuts seem like they weren't such a bad thing. This outfit-ensemble, paired with her typical messenger bag, may have seemed artsy, but Gina wasn't any the wiser to this. (Though, if anyone did ask, she did possess a sketchbook in her bag, containing poor-quality doodles of outfits, which were littered with sloppy notes that only she'd comprehend.)
Today, she was walking through one of many New York parks, enjoying the scenery and just the therapeutic lack of something to do. She had no company today, no distractions, no anything. And, it was kind of nice, particularly after all the mayhem that had recently arisen in her life. It was nice, not to have to think about much of any of it. But soon, Gina's reverie was broken by some other girl.
Just in the way she carried herself, Gina presumed she was only a little older than she. Her height was nothing to go by, for she was only maybe an inch taller than her. (Though, with Gina's bun, she was the same height.) Dark blue eyes, flyaway orange-ish hair. And her outfit-- oof, an athletic person, complete with skimpy athletic shorts and a sports bra. Gina tried not to cringe as the girl seemed to zero-in on her. At least she wasn't busty like Gina... If Gina tried to pull that off, she'd have to wear two sports bras. It wasn't that she didn't like athletic people, or even overly-athletic people... she just... hm... didn't like them, because that was an area in which she struggled. And she wasn't very fond of the choices in attire, either.
>> “Could you humor me and throw these at me, please?”
A couple of small bottles were shoved into her hands before Gina could even register what she was recieving.
"Umm..." she trailed off momentarily, more than slightly confused. She stared at the bottles in confusion.
"Throw... the bottles... at you?" she attempted to articulate, shifting her gaze from the bottles to the girl, "Are you sure? Wouldn't that hurt?" She shifted the bottles into one hand, scratched her speckled grey cheek. The girl really shouldn't have said, Could you humor me. That was kind of like saying bet you can't to Gina. It was like daring her to do it, and Gina was compelled to to take that dare, despite the consequences. But, throwing bottles of God-knew-what at perfect strangers wasn't exactly her cup of tea. For all she knew, the girl might try suing her for assault, just because she was a mutant. If she could really do that, Gina wasn't sure, but the teenager knew that stranger things had probably happened.

>> "I’m being serious."
Gina's grin faltered a bit, and her look easily shifted into a look of confusion. She'd hardly been aware of the smile or the faint chuckle as they surfaced. She'd been so wrapped in her thoughts, they'd just kind of emerged while she was on her unawares. But, when Agnes called attention to it, Gina pouted her lips and arched an eyebrow. It wasn't that she didn't take her seriously, it was just that, if any guy was interested in Gina without getting to know her, he was either really nice, some sort of freak, or a freak with alterior motives. Either that, or they'd be a gargoyle, too, and Gina had yet to see one of those sorts wandering around. Not that she wasn't looking.
Agnes kissed Gina on her head, as she often did, and Gina glanced toward her, inclining her head patiently.
>> “But…I should know better. Of course you’d be safe. Guess…situation just made me a little paranoid. Don’t listen to me.”
"It wasn't that, Agnes," Gina sighed, the corners of her lips curling as she spoke. How could she say this in a completely matter-of-fact way? How could she say this and not come off as completely depressive? Either that, it wasn't going to sound good however Gina tried to word it, "I mean, I'm absolutely serious, too. I'll probably be quite thorough at finding a decent guy. It's just that--" Gina took her tail in her hands, began toying with it absently as she paused to contemplate her wording once again, "It'd have to be a pretty stand-up guy to fall for me that fast. Either that, or he'd have to be sick in the head."
Because, in Gina's mind, no matter how many times someone said that it was the personality that mattered, what she'd witnessed in her young life was quite the contrary. Looks were the primary concern-- did they look human, or mutant?-- and personality was simply a secondary bonus... that is, unless this guy was the best kind of guy, the absolute nicest kind of guy in the world. The kind you'd adopt as near-family. Gina finished off her chocolate milk with an enthusiastic swig, setting the empty glass down upon the counter.
"And he'd probably have to be a mutant, too," Gina added on. What she really meant to say was a visible mutant, but non-visible mutations would suffice, too. And, as lovely as her surrogate family was, she really couldn't ever envision herself being with a human boy, an outsider, to the life of mutants. Gina smiled faintly, the corner of her lips tilting as she added on, "I'm still looking for my gargoyle-guy."
She let her eyes slide towards Agnes, her brown eyes shimmering with humor. Perhaps Agnes didn't see what Gina understood the be funny, about what she'd said. Perhaps it wasn't even funny to her. Gina shifted gears, returning to her sister's dilemma and departing from her own inner thoughts for the moment. They weren't here to hear about Gina's romantic life, they were here to talk about Agnes's.
"It's okay to be paranoid, for a little bit," Gina added on, gently kicking her sister's leg. Falling out was like getting in a car crash-- for a while, you're antsy around the roadways, hesitant to drive and hyper-aware, but after a while, things simply return to normal for you.

Agnes paused, gathering her thoughts and looking beyond the kitchen, for only a moment. Gina had been sipping her milk, and now lifted her head a fractioin. Had she gone to far, asked the wrong question. For a moment, but only for a moment, Gina nearly took it back. She nearly apologized for crossing the line in her inquiries, but then, Agnes shuddered and seemed to be shaken back to life, taking a sip of chocolate milk before speaking. Gina hesitantly did the same, and then retrieved a chocolate.
>> “Most of that night was a blur-- but…her face…that look on her face broke my heart. It was so…sad.”
So, she was sad as opposed to angry. Maybe heartbroken? Why had Gina thought she'd be angry, anyways--? Gina sighed. Even if she hadn't been too fond of her, she doubted that Rhythm would have fallen into the "fiery redhead" temprament when it came to break-ups and moving on. She seemed better than that, and with the whole "kissing of criminals" bit, it wasn't like Rhythm didn't have any options. Gina let her gaze swim towards Agnes. What about her sister, though? Once Agnes was done mourning, how long would it be until she found someone else? Gina couldn't help but to begin mentally rifling through the names of people she knew from the school that could at least be friends with Agnes, if not something more than that. While Gina was doing this, Agnes elbowed her faintly, stirring her from her thoughts as she began to speak.
>> “When you fall for someone, make sure you really get to know them first. Promise me that, okay?”
Gina inclined her head, combing her rampant curls back with her hand. Why did their heart-to-hearts always seem to circle back around to Gina making promises that she couldn't necessarily keep to Agnes? Like the promise of running when her parents showed up at the school? Yeah, that had worked out really well. Sure, she'd run, but then she circled back around and ran after Agnes because blind loyalty had driven her to do so. Who was to say that this promise would be any different? But, just the look that Agnes wore in her eyes, and the look that she was tilting at her younger sister, compelled Gina to answer.
"I promise," Gina swore, bobbing her head faintly before adding on, "That I will not fall for a stranger, if it can be helped." She kept a straight face, despite the inner humor that had struck her-- Gina presumed that dating for her wouldn't be like dating for someone who looked human. It would take more work, would require someone to get to know her on a personal level, before they'd even be able to see past her mutation. Gina unwrapped her chocolate and popped it into her mouth. God, she wished she knew a boy that looked like a gargoyle. Or, at least mildly similar to herself. She'd be absolutely bonkers for him in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, a boy such as that had yet to have come to the Mansion, but Gina was still waiting for him.
The mental image of her dragging a cute guy back to the Mansion was a funny one, though. Gina couldn't help but chuckle.

>> "Yeah it was. We should get inside and dry off though. Maybe have a snack?"
Gina caught up with him as Drew retrieved the bucket.
"A snack would be lovely," she agreed. Drying off would be lovely, too. Or at least, changing clothes would be lovely.
>> "There's probably some cookies or something left in the kitchen."
"Excellent," Gina agreed. She kept pace with him by walking a hair quicker than Drew was, her fast steps compensating for his longer strides. They both seemed to be in better spirits, and this small, happenstance water balloon fight seemed to have done the job. No longer was Gina so melancholic or pensive, and no longer was Drew going absolutely bonkers.
The two mutants slipped inside, to dry off and to partake in a much anticipated snack.

She hit him, she actually had hit him! Gina tried not to look too excited, but it was hard to contain her smile. And then, the counterattack-- Drew lugged his first balloon in a rather direct way, and Gina turned sideways to protect her sternum, for she didn't want to reenact that misfortune once again, and instead took it to the shoulder. Which, admittably, hadn't hurt as much, since there was much more sking and less bone in that area. Drew then lugged the second, which by an insane strike of luck, Gina was able to dance out of the way of. But, only barely. She threw her final balloon seconds after Drew threw his, settling to a stop.
Without even realizing it, she'd been holding her breath, and she inhaled deeply so as to get more oxygen into her lungs. She looked at Drew, smiling and laughing in a winded way.
"That," she announced, "Was a lot of fun." Now that they were both unarmed, Gina began to make her way back towards Drew, positively drenched and enjoying every moment of it. She was almost tempted to offer him a hug and share the overall sogginess that penetrated her clothes, but resisted. She simply stood there, grinning like an idiot and sighing.

Gina accepted the chocolate milk with a quiet thanks, turning the cup around in her hands pensively. Her eyes flicked to Agnes, to see how what she had said was sinking in. She simply nodded, munched on her chocolate, let the gears turn in her mind. They toasted, to who knew what-- Gina pretended that it was to sisters, but didn't vocalize that. She merely clinked her glass to Agnes's, and took a swig of chocolate milk.
Ooh, it was really good chocolate milk. She took another, polite sip, relishing the taste, and set the glass down, retrieving another piece of chocolate. Gina would have a hard time pacing herself on chocolate milk that was that good.
>> “Yeah, I-I know. I know that. It just…it still sucks. I…I’ve never…had a relationship like that. I never let someone get that close to me in that way. Then…when I saw that video…it just felt like…like I was betrayed. Almost…felt like my parent’s all over again.”
Gina bobbed her head as she unsheathed and consumed another chocolate, simply listening to what Agnes had to say and implementing nothing of her own. She was here to listen, give feedback or reflect certain things when need be, but not here to voice her opinions of people. She couldn't draw the parallel between Rhythm and Agnes's parents, for the step between those two seemed much more drastic. Infidelity as opposed to torture? All that Gina knew was that she didn't like them, in different respects, and that Agnes felt betrayed by Rhythm in the same way that she felt betrayed by her parents. That was some heavy stuff.
Gina had to take another sip of chocolate milk to wash that deep thought down. Agnes patted her cheek, as if trying to get herself to snap out of it, and Gina quirked a faint smile.
>> “God, this is getting ridiculous.”
Gina chuckled. For Gina, this was as far as it got from getting ridiculous-- this was progress, Agnes was vocalizing, and that was not ridiculous. It was nice to gain this insight, useful even-- a lot better than having Agnes bottle everything in and beat herself up about everything.
"Hmm..." Gina sighed, again twirling the chocolate milk absently, "It's insightful, though. It's nice to hear you talk about it." Gina smiled, took a sip of chocolate milk as she paused. Agnes was opening up little-by-little, which meant that, as she opened up, she'd be more open to inquiries, more ready to reveal certain details here and there. But, getting the juicy details was a delicate procedure, and Gina had to moderate herself so that she wasn't too nosy, "How did Rhythm handle it?" Or, if that was too broad and too raw of a subject, "--Was she more angry or sad?"
