The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The voice was what stopped Drew from whirling around to punch the person that had snuck up on him. He recognized it as Gina and that stopped him from delivering the blow that he wanted to. Maybe he'd been spending too much time patrolling as it were. If the first thing he thought of was being attacked then he needed to wind down a bit. Maybe.
"Hey Gina."
He smiled at the gargoyle girl. It was hard not too. She was a nice girl and had been there when he was in a strange state of mind. To say that he'd taken to the changes in his mutation easily would have been a bald faced lie. Gina had put up with him while he was dealing with it. Plus there was the incident with Agnes' parents. In short, Drew liked the girl. The girl that apparently knew today's visitor.
"So you know him, Gina?"
Drew turned back to the tour of the day.
"Well, like the little gargoyle here mentioned, I'm Drew. I'll be your tour guide for this afternoon. Now, we can go around the grounds if you want but inside is a bit warmer." He spent a moment taking a good long look at the guy at the gate, "Planning on moving in or just want the tour?"

There was a smirk decorating his face at the expression Rusty wore as the train slowed into the station. The second the train was stopped and the doors open Rusty saw fit to drag Lightbrite off the train and flee instead of continuing the fight. Drew laughed, really more of a low chuckle. A few bruises were an excellent price for teaching guys like that a lesson. Of course that meant he was stuck with a grateful human but he could deal with that.
Speaking of, the human in question stood up and thanked him soon after the departure of the dim witted duo. Drew eyed the offered hand for a moment before grasping it and shaking it.
"I despise thugs like that. A little bit of power and they seem to think they can do whatever they want."
Which was something that mutants and humans had in common. Part of their shared nature Drew guessed. They were as much like as they were different after all. Not something Drew particularly liked acknowledging about humans and mutants but oh well.

The pipe didn't lunge at him though. No, Rusty directed it at the other guy who had at some point defeated ole Lightbrite. And the pipe left a nasty little present for the guy. Drew frowned and grabbed the hunk of metal before Rusty could withdraw it from the strike. His free hand came down hard on one of the hands holding it and then the other. That loosened Rusty's grip enough for Drew to yank the pipe out of his grasp and discard it behind him where Rusty wouldn't be able to use it against either of them.
"Well lookie there. Guess you'll ta fight without yer toy now, Rusty."
That earned Drew a couple of quick swears from the other man. Drew smirked.
"Such language. Didn't yer momma teach ya better? Though considerin' the circumstances I'd guess not."
It was cocky of him to banter like this when Rusty was still up and about but Drew was feeling pretty confident despite the knocks he'd taken. With his team mate done but out Drew figured it was just about time wrap this little shindig up. So he closed in and the fight between him and Rusty became a battle of fists. Drew took a couple of hard knocks. He'd have a black eye before he got back to the mansion. Hiding that would be a treat. But Rusty was worse off when they broke apart and that was all that mattered.

As much as he would rather be elsewhere it was still to early to go out. The place that Drew had once appreciated as a refuge and then loved as a home felt stifling now. He'd rather be out in the streets putting things to rights instead of here. But he needed to maintain his place here. The mansion was his home and Sam was his employer and Drew was loyal to them, to him. Paperwork and greeting were what he did. The paperwork was done and filed, for the moment, and there was no one to greet that he knew of. That gave Drew a bit of free time to get out of the house, if not off the grounds. Leaving the office Drew swung by his room to grab a coat and was out the doors shortly after.
He was almost free. Until he saw the guy at the gates.
Heaving a sigh that didn't pass his lips Drew headed for the gates to let the guy in.
"Hey there." smile nicely now Drew, "Let me get that gate for ya."
After a few moments the gate was open and Drew faced the guy without bars between them.
"That's better. Never comfortable talking through that thing. I'd guess you're here for the tour right?"

With everything that happened Drew wanted to laugh. The girl had apparently broken through a padlock to get Sam's beer. Ah screw wanting to laugh he did laugh. Between Gawain trying to be responsible and the other guy siding with Gawain the girl had little chance of getting out the room with that beer. There was also the fact that none of them recognized her which meant she almost certainly hadn't been through the whole greeting process. Drew watched the two others work with a grin on his face. After the other guy put the beer away Drew grinned at the girl apologetically.
"Sorry, even if I was inclined to go against these guys, and I'm not, they could both knock me into next week if they wanted to. No beer for you I guess."
Sure he didn't care that she'd been sneaking a drink but Drew wasn't about jeopardize his standing with one of the X's he knew for some random kid. And a kid she was so he totally ignored her looking at him the way she had. Crappy to nonexistent love life or not, Drew wasn't about to start taking up with high schoolers. That was ten different kinds of wrong.
"'Sides, sneakin' into the boss's fridge for a beer isn't the best introduction you could make."
Drew nodded at the guy he didn't know, his name would be George until someone corrected him, when waved at. Introductions could wait until they'd sorted out the girl. Then, to solidify the fact that he wasn't going to help her, Drew slid sides to block the doorway. Just call him Mr. Bouncer. Or don't because that sounded really silly. Good thing he hadn't actually said it. In either case, playing his part as a possible future X-Man was more important than some random girl. So though he didn't care at all one way or another he'd help out Gawain and George.

An empty glass sat in front of him at the bar. Drew stared at it. As much as he wanted to ask the bartender for a beer there was no one here he trusted. So he abstained from liquor of any sort. He was drinking water.
Why come into a bar if he wasn't going to drink?
That came down to the fact that a certain group of humans that Drew had had to beat down several time came to this place. They were loud mouths and rowdy and more often than not Drew found them giving some mutant or another a hard time. So he'd tracked them back here. They didn't seem to learn no matter how often he warned them off, with words and fists, they still did it. Drew had been hoping to find something useful to stop them altogether. Though it was distasteful he'd consider threatening families if they had them. If that was what it took. The hope was that it wouldn't come to that. That if he showed them he could find them they'd finally take his warnings to heart and stop their hatefulness. Or at least confine it to quiet grumblings into their beer.
As of yet he didn't see any of them. That left Drew sitting on his stool at the bar, bent over an empty glass, and not even a whiff of alcohol in him. All in all a poor state to be in at a bar. Distraction came the form of a woman that could have been twenty one...but probably wasn't. Especially if the slight nervousness he noticed when she slapped her ID down on the bar was any indication. It wasn't any of his affair if she wanted to drink underage. Drew didn't own the bar so he didn't have to worry about being dragged in front of a judge for serving someone underage. So he kept his mouth shut, nodded to the girl, and went back to staring at his glass and surveying the room from time to time.

Unlike anyone else about Drew had no particular reason to be near Sam's room. Truth of the matter was that he was just wandering the hallways and happened by there. The chatter within was what drew him in. None of the voices he heard belonged to Sam. In fact he could only really place one of them. So he ambled in, hearing unknown guy speculating out loud what punishment Sam would assign to the unknown girl for snagging some of his beer. Drew couldn't help but notice the case of beer on the floor near the unknown guy. Settling for leaning by the door he waited and listened for a few moments. Gawain and the other guy were filling out the responsible and semi-responsible roles well enough and it was only a beer. He'd loosened up enough recently to not care so much about drinking and what not. So long as it didn't cause too much of a headache Andrew didn't care. There were other fish to fry, so to speak. Drew cut across the last thing the unknown guy said.
"Ah, it's just one beer. No harm in it. If Sam didn't want to share then he should've put a lock on it."
With a slight smirk, Drew nodded to Gawain in the mirror and then took a moment to look over the guy he didn't know. Not bad to look at and he brought beer. Drew liked him already. Getting a closer look at him like this made him fairly sure that he'd seen the guy around once or twice. But they'd never interacted and Drew had no clue what his name was. Making sure that his gaze didn't stay too long on the man it drifted over to the girl that had been caught at filching Sam's beer. She was easily too young to legally drink it. A person didn't learn if they didn't make mistakes. And really, keeping a fridge with beer in it in a school was just asking for it to be raided time and again. Next time he saw the man Drew would suggest replicating the Danger Room security for his beer fridge. That might keep the kids out for a few minutes.

Unwieldy or not that pipe was going to be a bit of a problem. It was heavy enough to pack a decent wallop if Drew got hit with it. Thankfully the small space meant that Ole Rusty there couldn't maneuver the thing very well. Drew was able to keep out of it's path most of the time. In fact Drew managed to land a couple of solid punches before the pipe in question smacked into his midsection. The breath left Drew's body in one forced rush as his body bent in half from the blow. It was painful straightening up but Drew did so without complaint or wince even as Rusty grinned at him. No point in give him the satisfaction of knowing it had hurt. Especially when Drew was confident he could beat the fool into submission despite what didn't even count as a scratch to him. You might as well have just stubbed his toe.
That made the kick that Drew lashed out with something of a surprise. It caused old Rusty to stumble backwards just as Lightbrite decided to put on a light show. Drew barely managed to turn his head and shield his gaze in time. Rusty wasn't quite as lucky. He'd blocked some of the flash of light but not enough to prevent further disorientation. It wasn't enough to keep him of kilter though. By the time Drew closed in again Rusty was brandishing the pipe at him again. Another quick check on his team mate showed no issues over there so Drew brought his attention back to his own battle.

Drew ducked under another knife swipe only to get hit by a lash of the chain across his chest and shoulder. His flinching was involuntary. Used to pain though he might be it still hurt. The security guard seemed to be managing well enough, though he had been winged by bullets a couple of times. There was no helping that really. Frankly Drew was astonished that he'd avoided serious injury from the weapon. Perhaps it was his previous experience coming to the fore but Drew had the highest respect for the devastating damage potential that guns had. Sure they were really just contained force flinging bits of metal at high speeds but they could end a life as quick as you pleased. If he were honest with himself Drew still had nights that he woke up shaking from a nightmare due to his last dealings with a gun.
Surging back to his feet Drew attempted to knock the knife out of the woman's hand but failed and got cut for his trouble. He hissed at the sting of the blade as the two that had fled reentered the fight with weapons of their own. That evened the odds, for which Drew was incredibly grateful. At least for a matter of moments until he actually saw what weapon one of the men was holding or where he was aiming it. A stream of curse words were about the only coherent thoughts in his head as the spray of bullets cut across the room and bit into the madman's wings.
"Are you nuts?! You coulda hit the kids!"
Drew was seething and trying to control his anger, the cultists were grouping up on their wounded leader, and the leader himself? Well Jack's world was pain. His beautiful white wings, the signs of his favor in the eyes of God, were staining with red red blood as he sat there on the floor having crumpled from the pain. He was a messenger for God! The one destined to guide the savior! So why did he hurt so much? Why would God, the holy and righteous, allow a heathen devil to injure him so?

It only took a moment to take in the place and then dismiss most of it. It was a club, a bar, whatever you wanted to call it and Drew saw little to distinguish it from others of it's kind. His attention slid back to Sam who was laying on the charm for the three ladies he'd bribed in along with them. Had he not been trying to project the image of a nice guy for the three women he would have been rolling his eyes and smirking. A pleasant smile and cheerful wave were substituted for the desired expressions instead. Sam's comment the moment the trio were out of hearing range brought the smirk to Drew's lips and it stayed firmly in place as they made their way to the bar for drinks.
"A beer's fine."
Drew let Sam handle the bartender since he had the task of introducing himself to yet another woman. Recognizing the beginnings of a trend Drew smiled to the woman.
"Pleased to meet ya. Name's Drew, as my buddy here was nice enough to point out. He's Sam, in case you wanted a name to put to the guy in your personal space."
While he paused for a moment Drew thought something over. Namely whether or not he was grateful that Sam was trying to play wingman tonight. Oh it was nice enough of the man to try but Drew wasn't actively looking at the moment. Not even for another hook up like Tasean had turned out to be. So he was grateful but determined to give his boss just as much of a chance.
"Could I have the honor of knowing your name?"
Yes he was laying the politeness on thick but Drew had learned that that coupled with the southern drawl he usually kept hidden away got him plenty of attention here in the northern parts. If nothing else it served as a conversation piece.

Well it seemed the human wasn't entirely useless. He could at least take a hit and get back up. That boded better for them in the fight. Drew could take on both guys at once if he had to. Martin, Sam, and Drew's own nightly activities had seen to that. But it was better to have someone at your back, even if they were a human. The human's laugh served to reinforce Drew's assumption that he would be standing with Drew against the two muggers. As expected, the two didn't give up. Really Drew had never imagined they would. But things got tricky if you didn't give them the chance. Cops got all touchy about it. Then again they didn't like most of his activities these days anyway. It would have been a problem if he weren't half decent at running.
Regarding the situation at hand though Drew didn't think running would cut it. Or that the fellow he would likely end up fighting beside would run anyway. Frankly Drew had long ago become fed up with running so sticking around for a fight was perfectly fine by him. The muggers laughed at Drew's attempt to let them out of the beating they were about to receive and earned a shrug for it.
"Suit yerselves. I'll not be held responsible for the whoopin' you two are about to receive."
The car of the hurtling contraption of metal burst into action then. Fists were thrown, both by the two punks and Drew. He paid little attention to his partner in battle at this point. Only enough to ensure himself that he didn't need to bail the human out.

Urgh, damn irresponsible mutant muggers! Drew had only managed to get his eyes half shut before the too obviously named Light had flared up. Now he was going to have to get involved sooner than he'd wanted to. The last thing Drew was going to allow was for some mutant punk to flash blind him more than once. It was a self serving motive but it got him up on his feet. The guy they were mugging managed to throw himself out of the way of the improvised weapon. Another tug on his hood ensured it was in place before he spoke.
"Rust and Light? You boys sure are creative about yer names."
Drew pulled himself into a fighting stance: hands up and feet evenly spaced with the weight only slightly forward of center. The drawl that he didn't use often was serving as tonight's vocal disguise as he strode forward a step or two to stand even with the other guy.
"Now I'm gonna ask you boys nicely once. Why don't ya go sit down and leave him be?"
Guys like these wouldn't take the hint of course. They never did. But since they were mutants Drew felt obliged to try. It was only their stupidity and thug-like actions that were drawing him into the fight after all. Beyond that Drew had no quarrel with them.

In the glow of a street lamp two young people kissed for the first time. The sight made the man watching from the shadows think. His own first kisses flashed in his mind in quick succession. They were few and the last one made him sigh and walk away. Tasean.

Not so much an absence but a stay of rping. I'm ceasing posting for a while and just lurking the cbox. Rping has been starting to feel more like a chore than a wonderful hobby so I need to take a few steps back until that clears up. I'll still be around in the cbox but posting will be slow if at all

Of course they just had to go and screw up a nice peaceful ride. The idiotic human, for that was what Drew assumed him to be considering he didn't demonstrate an ability after being threaten, just had to get on his car. And the mutant on the car would have to be a mugger. A frown tugged at his face. Drew hated it when he had to face mutant criminals. They had so much potential and they wasted it on petty crime. As much as it pained him to do so he'd have to stop them. And the evening had been going so well too.
But he didn't have to step in just yet.
No, Drew could sit there and wait for the human to get beat up a little before he moved in to help . In the meantime he could watch the show and get a feel for how everyone involved fought. That would do well enough for a battle plan. At least neither of them had weapons. Being menaced by guns got old quick. Even faster if one had seen to a bit of protection against said weapons. He turned his body toward the fight. If he needed to move to get involved then he wanted to be ready to do so.
Drew's only question now was whether the other mugger was a mutant as well. One had showed off an ability. The other had not. It would be easier to manage the fight if he knew whether the other guy had an ability and whether or not it was better suited to a fight. Rust? Not so intimidating or useful. Though he was a human Drew agreed with the victim in regards to that.
