The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It had been a busy night for Drew. He leaned back in his seat with his hood up and adjusted to keep his face hidden. There were a couple of bruises scattered over his face and torso but nothing that wouldn't heal. Most of the people that he took care of really weren't all that good in a fight. The sort of people that talked a big game but couldn't back it up. A few of them had got in some good hits, hence the bruises, but over all Drew felt that he'd done very well tonight. The humans he'd met that had been even remotely disapproving of mutants had been punished and a couple of mutants had been spared some adversity.
Now he was headed to another part of the city. Just one last sweep before he went back home to rest. If he spent too much time in one area eventually the police got called. The very last thing Drew needed or wanted was to face down a cop. Even if a good portion of them were humans they were public servants that did as much good for mutants as they did humans. Most of the time anyway. As such Drew had no wish to tangle with them. Hence the moving from area to area. It kept him safer from the police.
There were only about three other people in the car at the moment. But that was a function of the time since it was late now. That didn't bother him. The fewer people around to see him the better. One hand snaked up and pulled the hood of the grey wool coat down just a bit further. A little extra care couldn't hurt at all.

Flummoxed, that was the word that described Andrew best at this particular point in time. He was flummoxed, bamboozled, and any other long and unnecessarily complicated words to indicate confusion. A note and clothes had been delivered to him claiming to be from Kate. Honestly he was just suspicious. They'd already made their peace with each other so this smelled like interference. Drew had no idea who would go to this much trouble though. Then again it could be genuine. Drew didn't think it was but there was always the possibility. The clothes...were not something he'd wear. Since they'd come with the note Drew expected that he was expected to wear them. He glared at the offending items and note that lay on his bed. Once upon a time he might have just gone with it. Not now though. The clothes lay abandoned on the bed. He'd wear what he was comfortable wearing and not what someone else wanted him to wear. Even if it had been Kate that had sent the note and clothes he wouldn't have worn them. With the origins suspect Drew was even less inclined to touch the far too tight clothes.
Instead Drew grabbed a button down in some indeterminate shade of blue and a pair of black trousers. Yes he was going to go to the darn thing but he'd be comfortable at least. Whatever the set up it was dinner with Kate and they did still need to get to know each other a bit better. He wanted to be friends with the fiery English woman at least. Foolish set up though this was it did provide that chance. So Drew showed up a bit before the appointed time blatantly not wearing the selected outfit. Maybe if the person responsible was there early to get things ready he could let them know just how little he appreciated this farce. He and Kate had already apologized to each other. There was no need for this. And if it was a set up for something more then they'd have to be disappointed.
Kate was very pretty. Drew would be among the first to admit that. However he'd put the idea of anything more than friendship with her behind him some months ago. In fact there wasn't really anyone that he was blatantly interested in. The thing with Tasean had turned out a once and done business. Drew was surprised at himself for feeling vaguely disappointed at that. Casual was what he did best so disappointment that it had turned out that way was odd for him but Drew shrugged it off. His love life wasn't in the spotlight tonight.

He hadn't gone very far when something impacted against his back. Only a small flash of white caught his eyes before rolling out of sight. A ball of some sort then. Baseball maybe? Andrew caught just a hint of the sound of another incoming before it hit his head. He winced at the pain. Definitely a baseball. Then another with a command to hide. As Andrew moved his brain worked. This didn't seem particularly like another form of torture. Martin wouldn't do something without reason. If Andrew knew anything about the man that held his life with an iron grip it was that. So what was this then?
Training of some type? It didn't seem particularly effective for the simple reason that Andrew wasn't entirely sure what he was supposed to be achieving here. Yes he'd been given the command to hide and so he was moving and trying to find a place to do just that. However the use of the baseballs made him want to evade the attacks rather than hide from them. Plus there was the nagging feeling at the back of his mind that he couldn't hide from Martin anyway so what was the use in trying? Then again lack of understanding of an order really wasn't going to stop him from trying to carry it out. Pain would result if he let that happen and as much as that particular sensation was an old friend that didn't mean he wanted to invite it. It was rather like that old chum that just keeps showing up and eating all your food. You grew used to it if it happened regularly but you never got to actually like it.

Rain, the radio, and Sam singing with the radio were the only major sounds for most of the cab ride. Drew sat quiet for most of it, joining in on only a couple of the tunes. The silence apparently didn't suit Sam since he picked up the Journey song on the radio. The lyric he joined in at though made Drew smirk.
"No offense Sam but if you were a girl I think you'd have better boobs." he paused just long enough for the song to move on to the next lyric before joining in, "Just a city boy! Born and raised in South Detroit!"
After that Drew let the radio recording take over in favor of sitting back and waiting for the cab ride to end. The cab ride was on Sam apparently and they headed up to the club that Sam had picked out. Standing in the rain in a line wasn't Drew's idea of a good time and Sam seemed to think the same as he bribed the door man to let the two of them in plus a trio of ladies in the line. Well that was one way to get the girls' attention. Sam seemed to mean this as Drew's night as he was told to introduce himself. Deciding to humor Sam, and because he wasn't really in a relationship with anyone at the moment, Drew held the door for the women and addressed them with just a hint of his southern drawl.
"Hello ladies. I'm Drew and that there is Sam. Pleased to meet such lovely ladies as yourselves."
He and Sam were out for a good time and the drinks that generally went with it. Drew figured he could humor his boss in regards to the trio of women for that. They were all three good looking ladies so it wouldn't be difficult. But they were just company for the evening in Drew's mind. He highly doubted he'd see them again and suspected that Sam thought the same.

The phone came to rest with a slight 'click'. He hadn't gotten an invite to go out with his old friends in months. Turning them down hurt but it was safer. As he ascended the stairs he wished that his parents could see what was happening and make it better.

Drew's struggle over the gun was subsiding as he finally wrenched the weapon out of his opponent's hands and used it as a club to bash the man into unconsciousness. Now he was out of the way and Drew didn't have to shot anyone. Oh it was brilliant that he now had a weapon but after that mess in the alley with Jorge there was no way Drew was ever going to willingly pull the trigger on a gun again. Not if he could absolutely avoid it. With that man down Drew was actually feeling pretty confident. The security guard had taken down his target with a minimum of fuss and Drew wasn't concerned in the slightest about the two that had been hit by the rolling device of pain. They were actually winning! At least, until the crazy with the wings called his other four followers forward. Drew started to intercept them and thereby aid the two guys in the shop. Keyword: started. Before he could get to their side the two were legging it. Well crap.
That left just him and the security guard to handle these four. One gun, two knives, and a chain. Before he could even choose they were on him and the guard. Drew got stuck with a lady with a knife and the guy with the chain. That left the security guard to tangle with the gun and knife duo. Drew wished the man luck. He'd need it. Briefly, just before the woman thrust her knife forward and his fight began, Drew wondered why the cops were only swift to react when it wasn't advantageous.
Just the story of my life I guess.
And then his thoughts were turned to battle. Battle, and ignoring the self righteous exhortations of the crazy leader of this shindig. Drew dodged, kicked, punched, and took damage even as the man rambled on.
"Yes my breathen! Show the demon and his demon touched horde that they cannot escape the hammer of righteousness! We shall lead the world to a new dawn, a new perfection!"
Jack turned then to the group of children. The savior was here, he knew it. Soon there would be a sign. Surely the blessings bestowed on the child would soon manifest themselves to protect it from the evil within this place.

Oh, Martin had decided to be quiet about what he had planned for Drew. It didn't make Drew happy to have such information withheld but it was Martin's right as his master of sorts. He'd learn to live with it as much as he'd learned to accept his situation. Other people wouldn't understand it. That and Martin's order not to speak of their association kept Drew some revealing any of this whole ordeal to people. He didn't need help, no matter what that small voice at the very back of his mind said. This was normal. Everyone else was weird.
"Alright."
So now he had to find whatever today's objective was. Drew could do that. Compared to other duties he'd been subjected to at Martin's hands this was practically a paid vacation! Finding something had very little chance of causing him pain. There was still a chance of course. Nearly everything he did for Martin was designed to cause pain to Drew in some fashion. It was never fun but on the bright side Drew was quickly learning to work through almost any sort of pain. It was a trade off. Maybe not the best of trade offs but one he could happily make for Martin's sake.
"Ok."
Andrew relaxed himself only slightly from his at attention stance as he began to move about the slightly familiar setting. Some bits of it he could remember. Some brought flashes of previous visits to the forefront of his mind. Images projected on the landscape by a mind not entirely whole and sound. A broken cry for help that went largely ignored by the conscious mind of Andrew Leroy. Weakness was a sin against his master and he would not show it. Martin was working to make him better and he would not make the man's efforts out to be useless. Drew ignored the hallucinations brought on by remembered pain and embarrassment. He ignored it as he searched, aware that Martin had disappeared from his side but was still there. Somewhere.
He would know what he was searching for when he found it, he'd been told. Drew prayed he was right for he did not care to think on the consequences of failure.

Alright, at current count I'm all of 59 posts away (spread over Drew and Mina) from unleashing Dahlia on your unsuspecting heads. Therefore I need your aid before I am able to unleash her lizardly cuteness on you!
I require threads!
Drew at the moment is in the midst of his "ebil" arc so his attitudes will be a bit different in addition to his habits having changed. When he's not working Drew will be easiest found out on the streets at night or at the Sanctuary. Also remember that these threads are set after his power growth so promises can be made!
Mina is her usual self and can easily be wedged in anywhere except the faction buildings. And because this seems to need regular stating:
Mina will NOT engage in totally random murder or slaughter. Your character has nothing to fear from her unless you are in her way, anger her sufficiently (very tough to do), or pick a fight.[/u]
With that out of the way I look forward to threading with you!

Chaos erupted within the confines of Cold Crypt before Drew even got halfway to the entrance. Bullets were flying, the guards were turned toward the interior of the store, and Jack seemed to be shouting something. From what he could see through the window displays the women and children had hunkered down in one corner and were just trying to ride the sudden chaos out. Just as Drew was about to attack one of the men at the entrance from behind he noticed what seemed to be...an iron maiden?!...rolling at the men in question. Before he could ponder the insanity of that any further Drew pulled himself hastily out of the contraption's way just in time for it to take out three of the four gunmen. Drew hadn't gotten a very good look at the people responsible but inwardly he saluted them as he kicked the other guy in the back of the knee and made a grab for his gun arm.
A struggle ensued between Drew and the other gunman leaving the two who had dealt the first blow with the medieval torture equipment to follow up on the other three. Surprisingly a security guard was working on engaging one of them almost immediately after they'd been bowled over. Drew wondered if he'd been nearby. That was the only reason he could think of for the swift reaction time. Whatever the reason, Drew was glad of it. Hopefully the MRC would be on scene soon to help clean this up. This guy just wouldn't let go of his gun darn it!
Jack meanwhile was angry, very angry. Satan had come to defend his child and three of the devil's acolytes had risen up to aid him. This was not going as it should! He should have been able to separate the holy child and the devil child out of the group by now. He had no quarrel with the rest of them. The other children and the women could go free once he'd located the two he wanted.
"Beloved devotees! The devil seeks to stop us! Show him the strength of your faith!" shouted the winged cult leader.
Obligingly the other four cult members drew their weapons, all knives, and advanced on the two men within the shop that dared to oppose their holy mission.

There was a plan. And it involved swinging at someone he couldn't see in the hopes of hitting them and ending what the guy clearly thought was an illusion. Drew added another encounter to the 'strange stuff I've seen/done' list in his head as he prepared to swing. On the count Drew whirled around with the prescribed right hook and felt it solidly connect with something. He blinked.
"Well I hit something."
Certain things in his line of vision began to ripple. The girl for one. Drew took another swing, hoping that the person would still be in front of him. No such luck as his fist sailed through empty air. Since his back was now to Masochist, Drew looked over his shoulder and raised an eyebrow.

They were apparently cabbing it to what ever bar or club they were going to. That was plenty fine by Drew. They could both get as drunk as they liked that way. One of his eyebrows climbed upward for a matter of moments at Sam's vague answer. Well whatever else it made clear about him it pointed out that he'd had some serious trouble with a woman at some point. But that was hardly a unique condition so Drew just let it slide. Sam obviously didn't want to talk about it and Drew didn't care enough to pry. Or maybe he cared just enough not to. Bah, it didn't matter. They were off bar hopping and cab was was because Sam didn't want to drive. Drew returned the mischievous smile with a matching smirk. That was exactly what Drew had thought was the reasoning behind it.
Out they went to meet the vehicle and as they did so Sam pointed out that he wasn't calling things early tonight. Drew's smirk stayed firmly in place.
"No objections from me Sam."
Sam's overt display of his powers as he got into the taxi drew a laugh out of Drew as he slide into the back of the car beside him. That was one way to dry off. The car was moving moments after Sam gave their destination and Drew settled in for the ride. The next comment from Sam made Drew grin at him.
"Gotcha, no heroics tonight if at all possible."
Drew's face was the picture of innocence, as though he'd never gotten into a lick of trouble for the sake of others. Only the grin told a different story.

She laughed. He blushed. It was one big parade of awkwardness for him. After Tasean Drew would have thought that he'd be more used to such commentary. And yet here he was still blushing like a kid. It was embarrassing. Once she moved on from the color in his cheeks died down and he listened appreciatively. Secure huh?
"Yeah, I get that."
Feeling secure wasn't something Drew was all that familiar with to be truthful. He wanted to be but his life was so hectic and frankly dangerous that such a feeling was not likely to happen any time soon. Of course they were talking about two different senses of the word. Not that it made much different since that sort of confidence was something he lacked as well.

Thankfully they didn't spend any more time on his parent after that. Kate very quickly picked up on the fact that he didn't want to talk about him and moved on. In fact inside a minute he was blushing due to her return comment. It wasn't right up to the ears blushing but it was still fairly noticeable.
"Uh..yeah. I noticed when you were wearing that bikini."
After all, even angry as he had been it was hard not to notice Kate laying out in a bikini. Drew wasn't even thinking about any other possible meanings of what Kate had said. Not at all. Nope, he was too busy dealing with the most blatant portions of it. For as far as he had come from shutting out the world, Drew still had a long way to go.
