The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Tarin was trying to figure that out? Right, because it never worked well when they tried moving far like this. There were varying degrees of bad that happened when they tried, like both of them literally falling through the bedroom door, but it was never good.
But that would mean moving further away than they currently were, which was not far apart, and Lee didn't particularly like that idea at the moment either.
For them to leave the kitchen, it was going to have to be one or the other; some temporary separation or risk injury to leave the kitchen.
It seemed that Tarin had come to a decision on that as he stepped back further. And pulled his hands out from under the back of her shirt. Slowly, Lee let her hand slide out of Tarin's hair as he grabbed her other hand and started pulling her out of the kitchen.
The walk to Tarin's room (or was it simply their room at this point?) was not long, but at the same time felt like it took forever because all Lee wanted to do was feel Tarin. But the only contact she had while they were walking was the hand Tarin held. The only point of contact energy was flowing through.
That was something that Lee needed to stop. She did want to leave Tarin's side until absolutely necessary the next morning, and she would not be able to stay in bed overnight if she continued siphoning.

Clothing wasn't much of a barrier. Not in terms of Lee's powers, at least. In terms of other things happening at the moment, clothing was a hugely annoying problem that Lee wished would just disappear.
But in terms of her siphoning it really wasn't much of a difference. Yet when Lee's fingers had slipped under the hem of Tarin's shirt, the amount of energy she felt flowing into her did increase a bit with the skin to skin contact.
And if Lee ever did something like this when she wasn't completely distracted by what else she and Tarin were doing, she might notice that slight increase one day.
Today was not that day.
Instead, she was wondering why they were still standing when there were much better positions that they could be in, and it took much longer than it should have for her to remember that they were still in the kitchen.
"We should…" Lee mumbled against Tarin's lips, barely breaking the kiss enough to speak. "Move…"

With both of his hands in her hair, Tarin wasn't able to hold her as close, as tightly as he had been even though his arms were still around her. So to make up for that, to keep her body pressed as close to his as possible, Lee's arm tightened around the back of Tarin's neck, her hand tightening in his hair as they continued kissing.
Except Tarin's hands didn't stay in her hair. Almost as quickly as they'd been there, Lee felt Tarin's hands sliding down, out of her hair.
That was not what Lee wanted him to be doing. Tarin's hands in her hair had felt so good. She wanted him to put at least one-
At that moment, Tarin's fingers slipped under the hem of her shirt, onto her bare back
Lee melted against Tarin with a shudder as his hands moved up and down her back. His hands in her hair was very good, but this…this was better.
But more skin would be even better. Letting her one arm fall from around his neck, Lee let her hand move down to Tarin's waist then up under his shirt. Her hand slowly moving up his side, her thumb running up his stomach.

As her hand slipped into Tarin's hair, she felt a shiver run through his entire body. Under her hands. Against her body.
It was amazing what such a small thing could do. And she loved it. The fact was, it was getting easier to get those kinds of reactions from Tarin rather than less frequent. The more time that they spent together and the better she got to know him, not just his body but him, the easier it was for her to get him to react almost any time she wanted.
Or, like now, it just happened. Her body reacting to his touch and in turn receiving whole body shivers because her hand moved.
Any conscious thought went out the window a moment later when Lee felt Tarin's hands sliding up her back. When she'd then felt his fingers moving into her own hair, a small sound escaped her, muffled by the kiss

Lee was too close, and really too focused on Tarin's eyes and lips to see that he was blushing. Though while he didn't react as…strongly as she often did to compliments, Lee knew that he still reacted to them. Even when he was looking for them. So Lee was smiling against his lips as she spoke and kissed.
He saw her point, did he? "Good," Lee murmured even as Tarin was leaning in for another kiss.
Tightening her arm, Lee pulled herself closer against Tarin as they continued kissing, still just standing in the kitchen. As her other hand moved fully into Tarin's hair and she deepened the kiss.

What else could she thank him for? "Well, lets see…" Lee mused softly. " I could thank you for being incredible..." Definitely true in her eyes. "For the years of working out..." And that was very much appreciated. On a daily basis. "For always being there for me…"
As she spoke, between each thing, Lee gave Tarin another soft kiss.
Or she could just do that. Simply tell him that she wanted to kiss him. "Always," Lee whispered honestly. There were not many situations where kissing Tarin wouldn't make things immensely better. She then gave Tarin another, longer kiss. During which her fingers slowly found their way into his hair.
Finally, eventually, Lee pulled back enough to speak again, a smile on her face. "But where's the fun in that?"

As they stood there, Lee's entire focus was on Tarin. The warmth of his body against hers, the strength of his arms wrapped around her, the feeling of his breath against her skin, the sensation of his unique feeling energy flowing into her. In a way, it was almost too much.
And yet, Lee practically always wanted more. Tonight she didn't need more, not yet. But that didn't stop her from wanting more.
Which, with it being only herself and Tarin, alone, for the rest of the night, wasn't going to be an issue .
But then Tarin pulled away, and Lee was disappointed until she felt him resting his forehead against hers.
This was good too. Lee was smiling as she looked up at Tarin.
Then laughed when she heard him speak.
"Somehow, I think we'd find a way to manage if you did that," she told him. "But I can find other things to thank you for, if you'd prefer."

The kiss had definitely lasted longer than Lee had initially planned it to. She was not complaining, though. Not one bit. And when Tarin finally pulled away from the kiss, just barely far enough that he could speak against her lips, Lee smiled.
This close to Tarin was definitely a good place to be, Lee thought as she looked the extremely small distance into his eyes. She loved the way that his arms immediately went around her waist the moment that she was close enough, the moment she wrapped her arms around his neck. Loved the way it felt when he pulled her closer against him.
"I think this is a good place to start," she murmured, her lips still against his.

Tarin had already been on his way out of the kitchen when she spoke. It really did not take him long to make his way back to her, just a few steps. There was a grin on Lee's face when she looked up at him, so close to her, as he leaned against the counter.
"Well, to start with," Lee said softly as she lifted her arms to wrap them around Tarin's neck. Then just stood there looking up at him for a moment.
"I'm not sure I've thanked you enough for that cheesecake." Was this just an excuse to get closer to him? Damn right, and not even a very good one. But Lee didn't really care about that at the moment.
Raising up onto her toes, Lee stretched up to kiss Tarin.

'The usual' was nice. And comfortable. And relaxing.
And didn't always involve actually watching TV.
That was the one good thing Lee could think of about Kevin being at the mansion now; they didn't have to be careful about what they were doing in the living room (or the kitchen, or entrance way) in case her son decided to come out of his room at the worst moment and be utterly disgusted by the fact that his mother showed physical affection by curling up with Tarin and kissing.
Like had happened the night they had ended up doing the puzzle.
As she finished her last couple of bites, Lee watched Tarin moving around the kitchen putting the cheesecake in the fridge.
"That sounds like it could be very good," Lee said as she stepped over to the sink to wash her own plate quickly. Then she turned her head to look over at Tarin. "Though, maybe since we are alone, we should skip the part where we pretend to watch TV."

He said that she could take as much time as she needed, and Lee nodded. But she was still planning on getting this part, the shop, sorted out as quickly as she could. That way it was one less thing on her list. One less thing that she needed to worry about.
The man walking beside her also hadn't had a working phone since the rift closed. Did that mean his phone has still been working here, even though it had come from the other side of the rift? That was very interesting.
And also not very important. But it did pose issues with her being able to get ahold of him, to let him know that she had everything taken care of.
It would make it very difficult to arrange meeting again so he could get the key for the shop.
This Tarin had a solution to the phone problem, and Lee nodded as he gave her details for the hotel he was currently staying at. "That should work, then," she replied. It wouldn't be as convenient as him having his own phone, but it was far better than having no way to contact him.
"Alright, when I've everything for the shop sorted out, I'll leave you a message to meet there the next day," she said. At least that way, they wouldn't have to worry about him not getting the message in time.
With that, Lee walked along in silence again, slowly sipping her coffee. "Are things really that bad over there?" she finally asked, her voice quiet, eyes straight ahead.

Tarin didn't say anything else about the pie. Or about her blushing, thankfully. But Lee did see the smile on his face. He saw the blush, she knew. Saw it, and liked the fact that it was there.
Not baseball. That was a starting point for figuring out what to do, not a plan. But also not a puzzle. Lee laughed as her eyes glanced out of the kitchen toward the closet the puzzles were in.
"I guess it's a good thing that there's no reason here tonight for us to need to do a puzzle, isn't it?" Lee asked.
As Tarin rinsed his plate off and grabbed a bottle, Lee took the opportunity to eat more of her cake. Though when he spoke again, Lee smiled as she looked up at him. "The usual is good," she told him. "I like the usual."

Why was it so easy for Tarin to get her to blush? Did he have some special knowledge to know exactly what to say to make her blush? That may have been at least partially the cause, because despite his insistence that he didn't really know what he was doing, he sure did seem to say exactly the right thing a lot of the time.
Or maybe it had to do with how easily she was able to open up to him, with both the good and the bad. How he was able to get her to actually be vulnerable without completely freaking out and shutting down.
Regardless of the reason, when Tarin reiterated what she had done, that it was something really special, Lee's blush darkened. "I just wanted to give you something you should have had a lot more of in your life," Lee whispered with a small shrug. "That's all."
The Mets were playing, but they didn't have to watch the game? Lee raised an eyebrow slightly at that as she looked up at Tarin. "No, I didn't have anything in particular in mind," Lee answered with a smile. "Though as long as it's with you, I'm sure it'll be good. What 'something' were you thinking of?"

Lee was a little confused when Tarin said that she had him at a disadvantage. How could she have him at a disadvantage when she was thanking him for the cheesecake.
Tarin continued a few moments later when he brought up the fact that she had made the blueberry pie for him. Lee blushed slightly as she dropped her eyes down to her plate. "I…no," Lee said quietly. Then shook her head slightly as she glanced up at him through her lashes. "This was a great idea, Tarin. Thank you."
The blush still on her face, Lee took another bite of her cheesecake before looking fully back up at Tarin. "Did you have any other plans for tonight after this?"

If she didn't want to do anything else at the bar. That was always an option, but there really wasn't a whole lot else that she could do there during the day. To do more at the bar would, in essence, mean actually spending less time with Tarin and still not really solve her problem of what to do during the day. Unless she ended up spending that time during the day sleeping.
Tarin was right about how she'd kept talking about wanting to volunteer, though. And that might be a good thing for her to do. "I promise, no construction sites," Lee said with a bit of a laugh. "But that would be something worth looking into."
Taking another bite of the cheesecake, Lee then smiled up at Tarin. "This is good. Thank you."
