The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

”Oh?” Rhia had a naughty grin on her face, ”Is that where you were headed?” Rhia asked. It could be worth changing her plans for the afternoon.
”Are you heading there now? I just finished with finals and was rewarding myself with some shopping. In Goddess We Trust sounds like as good a place as any to start my shopping.”
The man introduced himself as KC, clarifying it was initials not Kasey. Rhia assumed KC was not a fan of the confusion. That was fair enough, she assumed she wouldn’t like it if people always confused her name with something else. The worst she ever got was someone unfamiliar with the name at all despite it being a once popular song and a Welsh goddess… That or when someone said, “Like the singer?”
Rhia did laugh at the mention of the accent of where KC was from being ratchet. To her that was a good way to describe virtually all accents north of Virginia. ”Amen to that.”
KC joked about the cards not reading where he’d get a husband from, or how he could make his millions. To that Rhia smiled, that would be nice if the cards would tell that. Rhia thought she could certainly use a few extra millions from a reading. When KC offered to read cards for her, Rhia jumped at the chance.
”Oh! I would love that.” If tarot card reading was real she could know some of her future. If they weren’t she would still have fun. Either way she won. ”An’ I’ve never heard of In Goddess We Trust.” Rhia pulled out her phone and mapped it’s location as she spoke. ”I might have to pay you a visit.”
Then KC handed Rhia a card. She looked it over. It was one of the nicer business cards she had seen. What was most interesting was the small print saying mutants were the children of the goddess too.
”I’ll have to. Can’t throw away a ‘stranger you bumped into discount.” Rhia said with a smile, ”And I can’t not visit a place that so boldly accepts mutants.” She also couldn’t not visit places that hated mutants, though that was more so she could have some fun at their expense. Probably setting back the cause but it certainly was cathartic.
Rhia’s worries were assuaged. The man told her nothing was glass, just tarot cards and art. That interested Rhia. She had never seen anyone use tarot cards in real life before. It had all been tv and movies.
”Okay. Good, as long as you’re sure it’s all alright. I’d hate to have ruined something you’d planned to resell.” Rhia said with a soft smile.
The man told Rhia that he often used the cards on himself. Rhia found that odd, for the reason the man stated, but she had to chuckle at how the man said he actually interpreted the cards. ”I’m hearing that either you shouldn’t do a reading for me because you see bad outcomes or I should really trust if you do a reading for me ‘cause you’ll even see the truth for yourself.” Rhia said it in a joking tone that had a nice through line of sincerity. It would be fun to have her future or whatever read in the cards.
”Oh. Where are my manners.” Rhia said with her hands on her hips before offering the man one. ”Howdy, I’m Rhiannon and I’m from Austin, Texas so I’d say my accent is probably more sweet tea, brisket, and a plate full of overstuffed tacos.” If a bit more metropolitan than the surrounding area. West Lake Hills was far more monied Southwest than it was the South of South by Southwest, but the South still carried a little influence in her speech. ”And where are you from? I can’t place your accent.”
Rhia had stumbled back a step, Rather embarrassed by having just walked right into someone. To make it worse he had bags in his hands. Blessedly Rhia had not bowled him over or caused him to drop whatever he had been carrying. Knowing her luck, whatever was in the bags would have broken had she knocked it to the ground.
A second blessing was the man wasn’t even mad. That was not the first time Rhia had walked into someone on the street but it was one of the few times the person didn’t give her an earful.
However, it was a first for the person not giving her an earful to go on talking about chocolate Greek Gods who had the smile of the light-bringer.
”I… Yeah.” Rhia said, taking a moment to try and parse the statement. It didn’t help that she was still feeling embarrassed.
When he finally said that it was completely his fault, Rhia jumped in, ”Oh, no. It was totally my fault, I was looking across the street and one partner short of outright dancin’ down the sidewalk. I didn’t damage anythin’ bumping into you did I?” Rhia asked, as she finally started forcing down her embarassment
The end of the final Fall semester was there at last. Rhia had finished her last final for the semester and was celebrating with a little shopping trip to treat herself. Maybe find some trashy food to eat before she gets back to training. Just because the semester was over didn’t mean she could slack off. Women’s powerlifting was seriously competitive.
Four years in New York City and Rhia still wasn’t used to the cold. She didn’t hate it or anything, but it just drug on for so long and the snow always turned gray. At least back home the snow stayed white before it melted later that afternoon or the next day. However, she was able to get away with less layers than most people wandering around the city. She was like a little furnace. So she often found herself, much like that day, with a much thinner jacket than everyone around her and a short skirt. While anatopic in the city, Rhia wore her cowgirl boots. They tied the whole outfit together and were a nice splash of character in the otherwise mostly business and big coats that dominated the city in December.
Still riding the high from the feeling that she had crushed her last Final, Rhia found herself dancing through the streets. Stepping with an excited grace and weaving around people. She didn’t yet know what she was shopping for but knew she was going to find something.
Looking across the street, Rhia caught sight of a store she thought she might have to stop in. This turn of the head kept her from seeing that someone had walked out of a store and onto the sidewalk right in front of her.
”Oh, I’m so sorry!” Rhia said she obliviously walking right into the man.
Amethyst asked a hard question. Why did Rhia swap people’s bodies? Presumably Amethyst meant specifically swapping people who didn’t ask to be swapped. Sitting in the cab, Rhia looked out the window for a moment.
Nothing takes what little wind you have out of your sails like asking a question that makes you come to terms with your being an asshole. ”It’s fun…” Rhia said with a weak smile. ”It’s something I can do that feels like ‘teaching someone a lesson’. Tommy made it seem like Carrick might deserve the lesson. You were the unfortunate collateral damage. It was supposed to be for me while Tommy took the chance to—well, he said talk but that was a lie.” Rhia shrugged and kept here gaze out the window, ”I just wanted to stir the pot. Not aid in attempted murder.”
When the griffon-princess returned they took the walk a mile in each other’s shoes statement oddly literally. Rhia sighed, you unintentionally give someone a learning experience and all they do is complain. She knew she deserved it but at least he could try to make the most of it.
”Well… I’m sorry you have the chance to feel like a princess. Maybe after a day you’ll learn to appreciate it? Being someone else and experiencing life how they do, especially someone you’re close to is an eye opening experience. I would know.”
When Rhia was told she was coming with the pair of them, she nodded. ”Maybe. If not, try to take it as a learning experience.” Rhia looked at Amethyst driving the struggle bus with all those extra limbs. Were it not for that she wouldn’t feel anywhere near as bad about the swap. Rhia had never had to deal with a different number of limbs like that before so she couldn’t blame Amethyst for having such an issue with it. Carrick… He was a lady, his protesting was just a little insulting.
Rhia looked at the griffon-princess, ”I’ve seen a… wedding tackle before. Not used to seeing them out in the wild.” She certainly wasn’t unused to seeing them. She even had a little experience with having one.
It was very clear that both Amethyst and the griffon-princess wanted to swap back. Rhia shyed back a little before taking the offered hand to help her stand up. The inability to properly use her power had her feeling all wrong.
”I… can’t.” Rhia said as she poked at her power which only gave her an increasingly painful headache. ”It hurts my head when I try, like it's pulling my brain in half.” Rhia looked away and added, ”I’m sorry.”
The griffon-princess then decided he needed to go somewhere. He told Amethyst to stay there and Rhia to also stay there and keep an eye on Amethyst without keeping an eye on the one-eyed wonder weasel. Then he was off, leaving Amethyst asking about the “show”
”I’m sorry, Amethyst… Worst case, you’re only swapped for two days.” Rhia hoped. She had never hurt her head and been unable to end a swap before. It shouldn’t affect the maximum length. Maybe. Hopefully. ”Yall can, uh, walk a mile in each other’s shoes. It’s an opportunity most couples could benefit from.” It sounded weak to Rhia and she lost steam as she spoke.
The griffon-princess killed the joke. Probably for the best, it was a bad and overused one. Something like Rhia’s dad would say. Rhia gently poked at the back of her head. No blood, but it sure hurt!
”I… I’m okay. Just dizzy.” And she saw two fingers. She knew he was holding up one very rude finger, but she saw it twice. ”I see one. Twice.” Rhia waved around a hand with her index finger extended. It was the beginning of her going to protest the bird, but then she realized she likely deserved it and just waved it a little more before lowering it.
When griffon-princess explained why Rhia owed them she slowly nodded her head. It was supposed to be fun. No one was supposed to get hurt, ”Yeah… I do. Thank you. And, I’m sorry… I didn’t want all this to happen. It was… Supposed to just be fun.”
Then Amethyst un-griffoned. This left him standing there naked as the Lord made him. Rhia saw more of the griffon-boi’s body than she had wanted to see. Her eyes widened and then averted.
”I’ll just…” Rhia tried to undo her swap. She couldn’t quite do it. Her mind felt muddled as it looked for the swap in her mind. She tried to undo it but it was like the mental muscle that she used to undo it was hurt. Attempting it just nauseated her. ”I… I can’t unswap you.” Rhia finally said, her face having turned a little green.
The world was a swirling vortex of pain in the universe of suck. Rhia’s attempt to stop Tommy had resulted in her flying back and hitting her head hard enough to knock her unconscious. While that was bad enough, Rhia was then awoken by a woman slapping her on the face.
”Eeyy!” Rhia slurred as she then had to swat at something sniffing and poking her. Her head hurt. Her everything hurt and not in the good way you get after a workout. Rhia took in a ragged breath and opened her eyes.
Woman and beast.
Woman… and… Griffin!
Rhia’s eyes snapped wide open. Before realizing it was the griffon-princess and Amethyst. ”Did someone catch the license plate on that Irishman?”
Tommy didn’t take kindly to people trying to stop him it seemed. For the crime of trying to stop Tommy from killing his own brother she was psychically lifted from the ground and waved aside. Rhia was thankful that Tommy didn’t hit her with one of those waves that had destroyed a chunk of concrete.
Once Rhia was back on the ground she had to calm her knees. She had just missed death or serious injury by the whim of a guy trying to kill his own brother. Her heart was beating fast as she saw Tommy follow his prey into an alley. Rhia wasn’t a hero usually but she felt like she had set Tommy loose on the griffon-princess and Amethyst. She felt she had to help.
Heels were not stealthy. The sound of the stilettos bounced off the street and the buildings as she hurried after Tommy. ”I didn’t sign up for murder!” Rhia didn’t know what she should do. She knew just enough martial arts to be dangerous and her thighs were tree trunks, but Tommy was a whole different level of destructive.
Stomping down on her fear, Rhia slowed as she approached Tommy, then when her right leg was back she jumped and brought it around in a jumping roundhouse kick aimed for Tommy’s ribs.
What was Tommy doing? Rhia was stunned when, with a swipe of Tommy’s hand, a large gouge was dug in the concrete. Rhia hoped it was just a threat to make sure griffon-princess listened and complied, but the look on her face was fearful. Fearful like she knew this was more than a threat.
When Rhia saw the griffon-princess have to pull Amethyst down to duck one of Tommy’s slashes she knew Tommy wanted to do more than talk.Rhis hadn’t signed up to be party to fratricide or whatever it was when the brother was in his girlfriend’s body.
Tommy!” Rhia slid herself in front of Tommy to block him. ”You said you wanted to talk to your brother. This is well past talking! Are you trying to kill him?” Rhia glared at Tommy.
The moment after she swapped someone was one of the best moments. Seeing the realization play out across their face and their body. Swapping people across gender lines was often extra comical. There was the classic dress tugging which the griffon-princess did. The boob grab was also a classic.
Rhia was not expecting Tommy’s reaction. Her date put his hands on her cheeks and kissed her. She wasn’t opposed. She was having a good time and the kiss was a solid power move. No complaints. It did surprise her though. It seemed a little over the top for her just stalling the griffon but the Irish were a strange people.
When Tommy strutted over toward griffon-princess and Amethyst Rhia couldn’t help but smile. Sure it was a little cruel to Amethyst but it was going to help Tommy get his brother to sit still a little longer without deploying those claws. Rhia followed Tommy over so she could see what all the fuss had been about.
The griffon and the princess took their leave. It was only after they had left that Tommy checked his phone. Rhia’s text had piqued an interest as his eyebrow went up and he asked her how.
”The same thing I did to make an impression in the first place.” Rhia’s eyes had a mischievous twinkle as she added, ”Let’s just say he’ll be beside himself and getting a new perspective.”
Rhia turned her eyes to track her targets. When they were nearing the exit Rhia set her drink down and set off after them, motioning for Tommy to follow her. It wouldn’t do any good to spook the griffon and have him fly away or turn into his murder-bird form.
Stopping at the door, Rhia turned to Tommy and said, ”Here’s where the fun starts.” Rhia stepped through the door with the griffon and the princess in her range. She smiled and called up her power. She focused on the pair of them and willed their minds to swap bodies.
The deed done, Rhia said to Tommy, ” I swapped their bodies. Your brother’s in the green dress now.”
Tommy and the griffon had some serious beef. The griffon looked ready to change forms and rip out Tommy’s throat. And now the griffon was trying to warn her off of Tommy. Well, Tommy wasn’t the one who turned into a griffon and looked ready to tear the other to pieces.
Then, the bartender yelled at them and… Just like that griffon boy was trying to leave. That was a bit of a buzz kill, but it also kept the chat Tommy wanted to have from turning violent. The griffon wished Rhia luck and asked if Amethyst was ready. Rhia sent Tommy a quick text.
Let them walk out. I’ll make sure you get to have your chat without him griffoning and no one asking you to leave.
