The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Princess of Atlantis. That was not something Rhia was expecting. Hey eyes widened, then narrowed. She could always claim to be royalty without it being real. People seemed to do that all the time in malls dressed up like soldiers. Finally she considered if the princess being a princess mattered. What did her uncle say? ‘We fought a war so we wouldn’t have to care about the royal wedding.’ Not exactly the same, but I guess it still applied. The princess was just another woman… Just one with the griffon.
Amethyst’s questions drew Rhia back to the conversation she’d started with her.
”Yes… and what?” Rhia looked at Tommy briefly, ”This is a first date.” A first date that was proving to be very interesting.
Tommy answered the griffon’s question by gesturing to Rhia, who smiled. The griffon then addressed Rhia. Said she didn’t know who she was with. Rhia cocked her head and raised an eyebrow. She certainly wasn’t with a buzzkill.
What was interesting to Rhia was what the griffon said next. Tommy, a wanted man? One, his profile didn’t mention that. Not that it would. Two, he didn’t seem the type to be a wanted man. Not that she was a good judge of criminality.
The swap done, Rhia took a breath. Hopefully this meant there wouldn’t be anymore falling weight machines. Quasimodo was visibly confused and stunned by suddenly being in bouncer boy's body. Bouncer boy...He was yelling and lunging at Rhia.
Rhia deftly moved to the side. The adrenaline had brought back some of the use into her nearly exhausted legs. That or it made her notice their protests less. ”And you’ll stay like that until you learn to calm down! Last time was my fault. This time you brought it on yourself.”
Quasimodo stood looking at his hands. His eyes widening as he looked at bouncer boy lunging away in his poorly dressed and oddly shaped body. That would be a major spanner in his works.
The whirlwind griffon boy went through was wonderful. Applying some charm until he saw Rhia. Then when he saw Tommy it looked like he was ready to go to blows. When griffon boy called her blondie, Rhia wiggled her fingers that were around Tommy’s arm. ”Hi.” Rhia was ready to use her power were griffon boy to do something so silly as to start a fight. Shift him with the waiter, someone at a nearby table, or the woman he was with that was wearing a gorgeous green dress.
It didn’t make a difference to Rhia, but some of the options were more amusing than others.
While griffon boy was busy showing his claws and growling, Rhia turned to the woman griffon boy was with. ”Howdy, I’m Rhia. I love your dress.” She was used to being just on the outside of or at the heart of a chaos tornado so she spoke calmly as if there wasn’t a strong chance of a violent altercation.
Rhia was more than just sure, she was actually excited. ”I’m sure.“ Either Tommy would get things settled with his brother or Rhia would have some fun. Either way someone won.
”Depending on how things go… you might get to see what I did.” Rhia replied with a mischievous look on her face. ”Let’s just say he was beside himself literally and figuratively. And yes, the beer is wonderful.”
It seemed that was all Tommy needed to hear. He was up and worked out whatever nerves he had about going over to see his griffon-brother. He offered his arm and Rhia took it with one while holding her beer in her other hand. The night was getting more interesting. Rhia couldn’t help but smile.
Rhia also couldn’t help but try to give the griffon a heart attack. ”Howdy there, fancy seein’ you again.” Rhia said from behind the griffon with a friendly smile on her face.
That was it. Rhia had apologized and the bouncer boy was now talking to the manager about getting her thrown out. He was the one throwing machines around and he thought she should be thrown out. It was the last straw.
Since bouncer boy had neglected to throw another machine at her, Rhia used the opportunity to hurry closer. Bouncer boy and the lord of uggos were close together. That was good. She just needed to get close and it was go time.
”Fine don’t accept my apology. Hope you like this instead!” Rhia yelled at the boy once she was close enough. She focused on bouncer boy and she focused on two face and his multicolor dream outfit and triggered her power to swap them.
Oh! Rhia was correct in her guess. The griffon was Tommy’s brother. And based on Tommy’s hand gesture, the griffon was also a bit of a turd burglar. Owing people money or some other similar lack of ability to control himself. Rhia nodded. It made sense. The griffon was certainly a killjoy, not as much as the bouncer, but the pair of them had worked together!
Rhia read the texts from Tommy and a mischievous smile came across her face. Tommy was only further coloring Rhia’s opinion of the griffon. Coloring inside the lines she already guessed were there. He sounded like someone who needed some life lessons. Rhia was good at giving out those.
”We could always go over there.” Rhia suggested, ”I could entertain the woman he’s with while you talk to him… Unless he runs away. I’ve run into him before and I made one hell of an impact. We can just wait for- “
The waiter returned and set down their drinks.
”Thank you.” She said to the waiter before turning back to Tommy, ”Okay. Now we can go if you want.” Rhia took a sip of her drink and her eyes widened. It was fantastic.
The guy was trying to kill her. That was his goal. Rhia narrowed her eyes at the guy. Yes, she did something that any person would dislike. Suddenly being another person when you didn’t want to be them certainly could make you mad. Rhia understood that. But, that’s the end of it. You get mad, you get over it. You certainly don’t try to kill a woman in a gym with weight machines.
”Look, I’m sorry about it, okay!” Rhia said, hoping to head off another weight machine falling like a piano in a cartoon.
It didn’t seem she had succeeded. The guy wanted her to just stand there and be crushed. Her eyes bulged and she braced herself to have to lunge suddenly in any direction. At the same time, the manager of the gym walked out of his office.
“Bro. Get the hell out of here! I’m calling the police.” The manager said as he inched closer to the exit, a cell phone to his ear. Quasimoto of the Opera seemed to take an interest in the manager as well and moved closer to him. This moved him away from standing between Rhia and the guy who was relocating heavy things into the air.
The next machine fell.
Rhia let out an ”Eeep!” and quickly moved out of the way. This brought her closer to the guy. If she couldn’t talk him out of dropping machines on her, she would just have to swap him. Worst case she could just swap the pair of them but she would rather swap him into someone that was a punishment. Where had that ugly guy that was poorly dressed gone?
His ugliness had moved next to the manager and after a few hushed statements something about “outside matching the inside” he waved his hand and the manager changed. He shriveled and shrank. Large muslces and towering height reduced to match his his inner weakness and cowerdice.
Leg day makes walking harder than normal. Almost like someone turned up the gravity. Normally sitting down for a few minutes will alleviate the issue. Sometimes, adrenaline can overcome it for you sooner.
Rhia heard a voice that she couldn’t quite place. When she broke her stare to see who had called out, she saw that rude bouncer from the club. The one who just wouldn’t let her be even after she swapped him and the gryphon boy. He had just thrown something overhead and…
Rhia shoved herself off the bench and jumped for all she was worth away just before the machine made its triumphant return to the floor.
Stumbling back to her feet, Rhia turned to face the guy. ”Hey! Asshole! What the hell? You could have killed me!”
The Quasimodo of the Opera seemed to perk up some and turned from Rhia to the man who she was yelling at. From the one who kept staring at him to the one who had called him a fashion victim. Several other patrons started to inch toward the exit. A few of them looked from Rhia to the fallen machine to the man. They clearly wanted to help Rhia but were unsure of what to do about a guy dropping weight machines.
The gym. It was like church to Rhia. Do enough squats and it is like Catholic mass. Just add a shot of wine and you have the Saint Schwarzenegger's Church of the Holy Barbell. It was where RHia came to blow off steam, to clear her mind, to prepare for a future meet, or just keep her body hotter than everyone else's. Beauty is pain and no pain no gain. So, gains were beauty...
It makes sense if you don't think about it too hard.
Some bro-scientists disrespect the squat rack. They feel the moon must be in the right phase and they need feel abnormally good to hit leg day. Some would even use the Vernal Equinox as reason to not do legs. Rhia, loved working legs. Squats gave her amazing legs, deadlifts gave her an ass that won't quit. Most importantly though, it made her feel powerful. Being in the squat rack and lifting two plates over the misoginistic meathead next to her who thought he could show her a thing or two about lifting.
When Rhia finished her last set in the squat rack she unloaded the weight and walked on rubber legs over to a bench to sit and drink some water. She wiped her face with a towel to clear off the sweat as some guy who looked like what happens when Quasimodo is the Phantom of the Opera walked in. While he looked... bad... which is quite the understatement, he was dressed oddly. It was like he didn't know how to dress for the gym. Dress shoes with basketball shorts and a tucked in polo. It was like the man had walked into random pile of clothes and put on the first things that fit.
The scenery was great? Well that was for sure. Rhia was well aware that she was an attractive woman, but not so vain she just expected people to say it nor would she just go fishing for them. The compliments that came honestly were the best.
"The spurs are only for when I'm riding. Not a lot of grass for a horse 'round here though. Might cloud wear them while saving a horse though." Save a horse, ride a cowboy. ”I do have a hat, but mostly it just hangs on the wall. No sense making all the yanks jealous.” Rhia said with a shrug and a smile. As the old saying went; never ask someone if they’re from Texas. If they are, they’ll tell you. If they aren’t, there’s no need to embarrass them.
While she spoke she caught Tommy looking across the pub. She cast a glance where he was looking and saw the griffon. Did Tommy know him?
Before Rhia could ask about it, the waiter showed up and Tommy texted over a request. Rhia decided that when in Rome, or Éire, in this case. She ordered the same thing for herself that she ordered for Tommy. As Rhia ordered, Tommy answered her question about his brother.
Rhia looked at the phone for a moment before looking toward the griffon. Then she asked a question she hoped was a no. ”Is your brother the griffon you keep looking at, or is he someone that owes you money?” Rhia asked, pointing over in the griffon’s direction.
It was a little odd to carry on a conversation with someone where she spoke and they texted back. It gave the conversation an odd cadence. A small pause where she waited for his reply after she spoke. ”I’ve always wanted to go to Ireland. It looks so pretty and clearly the men look nice. ” Rhia said with a wink. Not to mention the great accents. That, however, was not the right thing to say to someone who couldn’t speak. She did read his texts in an accent for him though.
”I don’t know about the dating scene everywhere in the states, but I can show you that us Texas girls are in a league of our own.” As she spoke she let her accent thicken so that she sounded more like her parents. Not enough to sound like someone from a farm but enough to set her apart from almost everyone else in the city. ”How long are you going to be visiting your brother for?”
A date at an irish pub. Yes, please. Rhia checked her phone as she arrived at the pub. She was meeting with someone she had met through an app. He had suggested the place and she had happily agreed. Normally she would have worn black, but for an Irish pub she dug out a short green dress and matching heels. They showed off her legs which could save lives… or take them.
Rhia’s phone buzzed, a message from her date. She read the message and then looked up, she saw him waive at her and lift his cap. She waived back and then responded,
Careful, flattery will get you everywhere
As Rhia made her way over to her date, she heard a twang and looked up to the stage. Broken guitar string from the… Wait a minute. Rhia recognized that griffon-man. The fly boy who she had swapped with that bouncer a year ago. Rhia frowned. Him and the bouncer just couldn’t let her enjoy the club. She would have swapped them back eventually. It was all the bouncer’s fault, really. Her fake ID worked everywhere else.
Her date was dressed nice but one thing stood out, ”Suspenders? Bold choice. I like it.” She said with a smile as she shook his hand. ”Nice to meet in person, Tommy.”
Rhia smiled. Compared to New York City, Texas really was like another world. Compared to Japan it must truly be like another world. Another world in another galaxy. ”I can imagine. It is… different. Where I’m from I don’t live far from, well, this.” Rhia gestured around at the metropolis around her. ”Big buildings, tons of people, and easy access to great food and coffee. It just has bigger hats and more boots.”
The waitress returned and set their drinks on the table. Rhia thanked her and took a sip of the glorious coffee concoction. ”Mmmm, so good.” Rhia took a moment to enjoy the flavor before she spoke again, ”If y’ wanna see a horse, I know where t’ find ‘em.” Rhia said with a smile. ”NYPD has a bunch they use. Lots of them at big gatherings, but short of that they often have a few at Central Park.” Rhia off into the distance thinking about them, ”Some of them are absolutely gorgeous.”
Rhia told herself to play it cool. Bouncer boi was just trying to scare her. He couldn’t prove she had pulled a Freaky Friday on them. Probably. He was listing off crimes she committed.
”No… I... It wasn’t me.” Rhia protested weakly.
When bouncer boi said “cops.” Rhia was about ready to just bolt. It was, stay there and get interrogated by the police or run off and be just another blonde in New York City. She thought she would have better luck that way. The plan made her feel sick, she wasn’t a run from the police type, but it was better than spending forever in jail and losing her scholarship over just trying to go dancing and drinking.
There was no need to bolt. No sooner had bounder boi said “cops” did a heel strike him in the back of the head. THe glowing ball in bouncer boi’s hand disappeared. Rhia knew it was her chance, but… That was her shoe! She was so surprised she almost didn’t notice how the guy’s neck snapped all the way around!
Rhia looked from bouncer boi to the griffin. He was throwing her shoes! Rhia took a half step toward the guy, her arm reaching forward toward her shoe and then stopped. Bouncer boi was looking at her again. An orb appeared in his hand again and he told her to leave.
”I’ll leave. I’ll leave… But, um… can I have my shoes?” Rhia asked.
The griffin was playing goalie and blocking her from the heels. Rude. It was also making a lot of noises. It made sense that it couldn’t talk with a beak… but could it at least stop trying? While the heels may be lost, the griffin’s… whatever it was doing… was distracting the bouncer boi. Rhia sped up her stealthy escape.
The feeling that she had made it, that she got out without anything happening grew the further Rhia made it from the bathroom. She was finally starting to think it was all good when she heard bouncer boi ask if she had any ID.
Rhia turned to see bouncer boi with his arm raised like he was about to throw whatever that orb was at her. She froze, smiled, and then waved. ”Uh… Howdy. Uh… See I think I lost it in the commotion. There was a griffin on the loose and all.” It was a believable lie, poorly delivered. ”I’ll just leave and make sure to have a real one the next time I come. Sound good?” Rhia looked from the boy’s face to his orb, and back again. Rhia held out both hands in thumbs ups and slid one foot back to take a step.
