The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Okay. The pair were swapped back. Wingboi was a griffin and bouncer boi… was a guy. Maybe now was the time to do what the bouncer had wanted her to do in the first place, bounce. Rhia opened the bathroom door again, just a crack, then a little more. She slowly opened it until she had the best view of what was happening without sticking herself out and drawing their attention.
They were facing each other. Bouncer boi had… something golden in his hand. An orb of something. Rhia looked past him at the griffin which was doing griffin-y things. Beyond the griffin… Were Rhia’s heels! She liked those heels. They were cute and expensive and there they were laying on the dance floor where she had left them.
She either faced scary griffin and guy with a glowing orb to get her shoes or she forgot about the shoes.
Rhia sighed and tried to slide out of the bathroom as quietly as possible. Maybe they were focused enough on each other that she could slip away. Maybe come back later when there wasn’t a griffin to get her heels back.
The sidewalk was going to suck.
Shutting the door slowly behind her Rhia tried to tip toe away toward the exit.
Rhia could understand having traditional parents. While her’s weren’t the most traditional, they were still fairly traditional. Like traditional tempered by a more modern practicality.
”I completely understand.” Rhia leaned her head a little from side to side, ”Well, not about the Japanese thing, but about parents being traditional. Mine were very Texas when I was going up. I cain’t help but provide New York with that cowgirl touch.” As she spoke, Rhia slid into a thicker accent. More like what her parents sounded like. ”I know it’s why I love tea… Although, I think I might like it a little different than you. Iced and with enough sugar to be a syrup. It’s bad, I know. It’s just home to me. Like wearin’ boot or ridin’ a horse.”
Leaving the bathroom was not advised. The griffin was there. Also, bounder boi’s head was slowly telling her no. Rhia slowly closed the bathroom door as she retreated fully back into the men’s room. She was trapped. Bounder boi had directed her to somewhere that she would be trapped. Now that she was less panicked and could think, she wondered if he had directed her there to trap her. Clearly him and the griffin were working together. They must have realized she caused the swap.
”Okay, Rhia. You’ve had your fun but now a mythological creature is after you and you’re trapped in a men’s room, TALKING TO YOURSELF!” Rhia stood in the middle of the bathroom and tried to form a plan.
Could she use the same trick twice, Escape in confusion from a swap? Just, be better at it this time. Maybe she could unswap them and then maybe reswap them if they come after her? No plans were good but no plan at all was the worst plan.
”Let’s… See what happens.” Standing in the middle of the bathroom Rhia made a small mental effort and undid the swap between the winged boi and bouncer boi.
From inside the bathroom, Rhia could hear commotion still going on outside. She looked around. No windows to go out through. There were just those weird glass squares on the wall and they were frosted. Light could get in but a coed running from a griffin couldn’t get out. Rhia hit the glass with one hand. Nothing.
Leaning her back against the wall, Rhia tried to think of what she could do. Did she just hide in the men’s room until the griffin went away or stopped being a griffin?
There was talking outside that she could hear. Something about great wings… Was wing boi in bouncer boi body complimenting the griffin? Maybe that would distract it and she could leave?
Rhia cracked the door to the bathroom so she could peer out and see what was happening.
Run. There was no plan. All Rhia could think of was running. Sure she was tough, but being able to put some gropey guy at a club on his ass is not the same as dealing with a mythical beast! Men were squishy with bones providing a structure she understood enough of to use against them. She didn’t know anything about griffins… and it had a meaner looking natural weapons!
Rhia was not a runner, she was a lifter. Her legs had all the raw power but there was more to moving quickly than hammering at the ground with your feet. You don’t see powerlifters medaling in sprinting events all that often.
While in her mad dash, one of her swapping victims—the one she flipped—ran up to her. He said something about her not flipping him. She had more pressing issues! Besides, she wasn’t the type to trip someone while they both ran from a bear. Rhia yelled, ”Bigger! Concern!” as she kept running.
The man yelled about the bathroom then something about not outrunning the giffin and how it can’t fly in there. Rhia spotted the sign for the bathroom, then looked for the door outside. It was closer. She looked back at the griffin.
Too close. Too close. Too close!
Rhia ran for the bathroom and shot through the closest door. It was the men’s room. She shot to the back wall and put her hands on it. Nowhere else to go. She had to hope it couldn’t fit through the door. Why had she listened to bouncer boi body?
Rhia stood, frozen, as she watched a horror show. From what was a human with wings came a gryphon or something. It looked both painful and nauseating… for both him and her. She could hear others around her crying out, moving, and otherwise fleeing. Rhia stood, transfixed.
It took the gryphon staring at her before crouching for her to finally snap back to reality. The gryphon was coming at her! ”Oh shit.”
With a shriek of terror, Rhia threw herself to the side. Her heels did not make that particular maneuver the most graceful as when she put weight on them they slid on the dance floor. They were dancing heels, not track and field heels. ”Ooof.” Her breath escaped her all at once when she hit the ground. She scrambled forward a couple feet on her hands as she shook off the heels. Alas poor stilettos, she knew them well.
Running was a good plan. Rhia climbed to her feet and made for anywhere that wasn’t there.
Rhia had only just dealt with one man who was a little too handsy when she heard someone say they “had priority” and grabbed her hand. Turning, Rhia say that it was the bouncer boi with wing boy driving. Instead of breaking free of the grip, Rhia grabbed hold of his arm as well. She then used her other hand to grab the guy’s collar as she shifted one foot into place so when she pulled she could take the guy’s legs out from below him and flip him onto the dance floor.
Where he landed with a less meaty sounding thud than she expected. She grimaced. Normally when she swapped people it was all fun, these two just didn’t want to leave her alone and now she had hurt one. That was not cool. She should totally apologize. Some other time. If she saw them again.
For now Rhia wanted to just leave. She turned to make her way through the crowd only to see with winged bou piloted by bouncer boi turning even more into a bird! ”I just wanted to dance and drink! Why is this so hard?” Rhia wailed to herself.
A crowd formed as mister bump and grind pushed himself back up off the dancefloor. There were some cheers from women who had previously had mister bump and grind ply his trade upon them. Several in the crowd were pointing and laughing at mister bump and grind. Some were talking about how hot the woman who did that to him was, because a show of power was incredibly attractive.
Rhia, who normally would have loved the attention, smiled and nervously brushed some hair back behind an ear. Attention from a crowd was the last thing she wanted while evading people. In fact, she could see one of them through the crowd pointing at her.
Eyes wide, Rhia turned and walked toward the edge of the crowd. People wanted to talk to her, hug her, dance with her, offer her drinks—terrible timing!—, and one was angrily demanding to know why she would do that to his best friend.
”Excuse me, comin’ through. No, thank you. Hey! Hands off my ass!” The last one was punctuated by a loud smack as she swatted the offending hand.
Trying to avoid people while at the club really sucked. Half the fun was in just forgetting your worries. Why couldn’t the bouncer and the bird not realize it was her or at least be such a mess that the other bouncers send the bird boy packing and bouncer boy home?
Not to mention they were making her walk away from a drink. Rude.
One of the two guys was yelling at her. He was yelling what was likely the least descriptive descriptor of all possible descriptions in a club to get her attention. Blondie. Some people turned to look at who was yelling, Rhia kept on making her way away.
The dance floor was doing its best to make Rhia truly lament having left to get a drink. The music was great to dance to and it seemed all the best and most attractive dancers were on the dance floor now. And she was left slipping between people attempting to get lost in the crowd.
Why couldn’t they just be distracted by their situation and leave her alone? It wasn’t like she could just swap them back. Bouncer boy would then just have her thrown out.
As she was making her way off to one side in an attempt to find somewhere to wait and then slip back out to get her drink… Someone started dancing on her. Not with her. On her.
They were not good. They were trying to bump and grind in the worst way. Poorly.
”Uh… I’m flattered but please don’t.”
“Aw, come on. You know you like this.”
”Nope. Not even a little bit.” Rhia turned and backed away from the horrible dancer who not only couldn’t take a hint, they wouldn’t know what a clue was if it smacked them in the face and said, ‘Hey! I’m a clue!’
The man reached for Rhia’s hand. Mistake.
Not in any mood for dealing with some asshole who couldn’t take no for an answer, Rhia turned, grabbed the man’s arm, and threw him to the ground. Her little training in judo was paying off. It also was causing a nice, big scene.
Rhia moved to the beat as she waited. Not so much dancing as just swaying and turning herself with the music. While there was a bit of a line at the bar, her drink gopher was doing a well enough job of cutting through the crowd and bullying his way to the bar.
’That’s useful…’ Rhia thought to herself. With how many people were at the bar having someone willing to muscle their way in was useful. It was a shame he wasn’t very good at dancing. She would have to ditch him when she made her way back to the dance floor.
Or… Sooner!
As her eyes looked across the lounge area she saw someone pointing at her. Someone she recognized from earlier. The pointing hand was attached to the winged boy that she had swapped the bouncer with. The bouncer who happened to be right next to the winged boy!
Rhia looked to the bar. The guy was still waiting on drinks. She frowned. No drinks.
Trying to look casual, Rhia turned and started walking casually back toward the dance floor. If she made it there before they caught up with her maybe she could lose them in the crowd and lights.
They had started with Rhia leading, but as they walked Rhia saw Zaid’s nose twitch before he took the lead. He had one hell of a nose, as Rhia knew from personal experience. And his nose did not disappoint! Zaid’s nose led them to a little coffee place with outdoor seating. As they approached Rhia’s nose was able to start picking up the faint hint of the wonderful scent of coffee. The difference between their noses was pretty great. Zaid wasn’t like someone with a bloodhound nose, but it was still impressive compared to her little human nose.
Rhia was tickled pink that, when they went to sit at a table, Zaid offered her a chair before taking one himself. ”And they say chivalry is dead.” Rhia laughed as she sat in the offered chair.
When the waitress—Cindy according to her name tag—approached there was a moment where she looked at Zaid confused before she took their orders. Zaid ordered tea. It turned out the coffee was for Jude.
”I will have coffee.” Rhia said before describing an overly engineered order of coffee. The waitress said she would have it right out and headed to put their order in. Rhia turned to Zaid and said, ”Tea is good too, but I couldn’t survive without my coffee. I’d call it the elixir of life, but… Well, it’s really just my drug of choice.”
Rhia hit the dance floor and the crowd rippled like waves on a pond. Not only was Rhia someone who could dance, she had a sculpted body. One where, as she moved, you could watch the muscle ripple beneath the skin. Movement was what she was good at. Rhia had spent her life doing gymnastics, martial arts, and dancing. She had strength, range of motion, poise, and grace… And most importantly… She had rhythm.
It wasn’t long before Rhia had a young man offering to buy her a drink. Mission accomplished! She was there for two things. Dancing and drinking. She had no plans of leaving with someone, but they didn’t have to know that.
The man was in his mid twenties, a little over six feet tall, and fairly broad. He was not that great of a dancer. Had the man not offered to buy Rhia a drink she would have moved away to find someone else to dance with. Rhia also wasn’t super into men with longer hair. Especially when they had a long braid that reached down to between their shoulder blades.
Yet, he offered to buy her a drink. So she could dance with him for a time after.
Rhia left the dancefloor as the music blended from one track to another. She went with the man toward the bar in the lounge area. Easier to order, you didn’t have to yell at the bartender. ”Rum and coke.” Rhia told the man before letting him split off to go get the drinks. No sense in her hanging around the bar and risk the bartender doing their job and carding her even if the man was paying.
The problem about having made it into the club how she had,was that Rhia no longer had her fake ID. The benefit of getting into a 21 and up club without her ID is that they were less likely to card her at the actual bars. Still, it might be best to see if she could get any men to buy her drinks. She could figure that out after she hit the dance floor.
Rhia had come to dance after all! Alcohol was just a lovely bonus.
The lights shone over Rhia in the way only club lights could and the bass pounded. The combination was a siren call to her. She was swept along by the rhythm toward the roiling mass of bodies all expressing themselves to the music. They were her people.
Rhia knew what she was going to do. The right moment just needed to present itself. The right person who would leave the bouncer the most distracted… THERE!
A winged man—with a lovely accent… Wow—strolled up.
The bouncer checked the winged—AND TAILED!—man and let him pass before turning to Rhia. It was perfect. Rhia bit down on her smile so that the bouncer wouldn’t suspect any shenanery. The winged man looked over at her and gave her a wave. She smiled and gave a small wave back at him and felt a little bad about what she was about to do, ”Yes. I know who I am... “ Rhia put on a pitying face, ”But I’m afraid you don’t know who you are.”
Rhia focused on the bouncer and the winged man, and with a small effort of will used her power. She silently counted the two seconds down to herself. And then her power took effect.
Under normal circumstances Rhia loved to stick around and watch the reaction of those whom she swapped. This time though, she wanted to slip away into the club before other bouncers came over to see what the commotion was all about.
”I’ll just slip on in while y’all figure y’allselves out.” Rhia said before blowing a kiss and making her way past the bouncer and the winged man into the club.
((You can play the swap how you like. Rhia experiences it as a weird out of body experience as if she is experiencing her mind moving to the other body over an elongated period of time. It is actually instantaneous but the mind does funny things sometimes, yo))
Could the bouncer take any longer? It was a super real looking Texas ID and the picture was from one of her cousins who was just old enough to be legal and looked a lot like she did. Hair color was a little different but the sun and some product could explain that change.
Rhia looked back down at the bouncer and the naway and at the crowd. Her attention was brought back to the bouncer when he called her out on having a fake. How did he know! It wasn’t obvious the “Banksy of England” money where there was an obvious giveaway.
”I… Uh…. I don’t know what you mean.” Rhia said. No one had called her on a fake ID before. She tried to play it off and stay cool, but was failing miserably.
The bouncer asked for some valid ID.
”Y-yeah. Sure. Give me just a minute.” Rhia stepped back from the line and motioned to the person who had been behind her, ”You go ahead.” Rhia stuck a hand into her chest where she had stashed her ID and card. She smiled uncomfortably for a moment as she pulled out the real ID.
She was putting on a show. She only had her real ID in case she needed to show a cop. She wasn’t about to show the bouncer. She would get into the club and he would regret not letting her. Had he just not noticed she could be in there having fun and the club would not be liable because they tried.
They shouldn’t try so hard.
Rhia’s smile turned mischievous as she decided on how she was going to get in.
