The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Mr. S Assured him he could call him Shin. A look of horror crossed his face. "Oh, Oh, I couldn't Mr.S! I'm your student! What would the other students think? Wait, Motor-"
His Jaw dropped. Floored. He was floored. Absolutely Floored. He was going to ride on Shard's flying Motorcycle construct?!
Xavier followed him outside, and oogled silently as it came into existence. He was still in silent awe as he climbed aboard. That faded fairly quickly, though, and he got to talking.
And talking.
"OHhhhhh, my god. I can't believe it! The last time I saw this was when you fought the LavaMancer last summer! It's so much cooler than on the forums! Woah, nice control! Hey, remember the time you-" It went on. He knew... a surprising amount about the X-Men. Well, anything that had reached the public, or that was speculated about on SuperHero Forums. "You know, I have a friend named Teemo that does a pretty good cosplay of you- I mean, I dunno if that's weird. Wow. I'm talking a lot. Sorry... I'll shut up."
He paused for a moment, and then started talking again.
When the moth came into view, though, he went silent. It was visible from a long distance away, and it just. Kept. Getting. Bigger. One might easily mistake his silence for a terrified one, but a quick glance in the rearview would show his jaw set in determination, and... A bit of a smile.
They landed, and he jumped from the construct, noting the really cool transition into armor as his cape settled onto his back. Shard gave him instructions, and he nodded, maybe going a little sparkly eyed at the Katana wave before bolting off to try and find something large to throw. His bounds were long, assisted by his power as he pushed off of the ground a little with each step. He didn't find a dumpster, but he did end up rolling to a parkour stop next to a park bench with some people cowering near it.
"Found one, Shard! Heads up!" He poked a foot up beneath the bench, repulsing it away from the top of his foot to lift it into the air, and then spinning with a flourish to smack it with the back of his fist, applying his power to send the wooden and metal seat flinging toward the big moth. He came to a stop to view his handiwork with a grin.
About then, though, the great beast flapped its mighty wings suddenly, and created a huge gust that slowed the bench, and then swept it up to send it flying right back. He blinked a few times, tracking the flight path and realizing it wasn't going to hit him, but instead the innocent bystanders! He sprung into action, leaping forward and landing before them just in time to blast it off to the side. "Not on my watch!"
He'd saved the onlookers, who hurried for better cover. "Mr- Uh, Shard, I don't think I'll be able to hit it without a distraction!"
The young mutant turned to look for something else to throw.
She smiled at him. A real, big smile. He hadn't seen her smile like that before. Wow. You know... She was really pretty when she smiled like that. He shook himself a bit as she asked him about the name. "Hey, a single syllable can take a lot of time up over long periods of time! Think of the time we'll save. If you like it, that is." He smiled to her, and then looked down the hallway she referred to.
The energy she ran off with... It felt... Well, heroic, almost. He set his jaw, and ran after her, pausing for a half second when she ran right through the door. Wow, he was going to take a while to get used to that. He opened the door behind her to see her going through another door. He chased after her, and arrived at the final door just in time to see her throw it open. Around that time, it became clear that the rest of the house was headed toward him. He eyed her for a moment, and turned to charge down the hallway toward the oncoming attackers.
There were four of them... All armed. They all moved to aim, but he placed a hand up to bid them to stop. They hesitated just long enough to give him a second to speak. "Halt! I have defeated your leader... And this... This isn't even my final form... So before you fire... Are you sure you want to fight... One in a Million?!" He then planted his feet and started with his full body repulsion field, but at the same time, he clenched both arms in front of him and roared... "I'M CHARGING! YOU'D BETTER RUN!"
They started firing, and the bullets bounced away harmlessly... Seeing this, they all froze, looked at each other, and ran for it, not wanting to know what he was charging for.
As they all disappeared from sight, he stopped, and chuckled. "I'll have to save that one for later."
He moved to join Juniper once more.
He put on a brave smile as well for the eight kidnappies... This was a pretty serious group of people to go missing. He didn't know what that meant in the grand scheme of things, but it was certainly headline worthy. He did his own turn in calming and comforting, chiming in as he heard a girl ask if they were heroes. He smiled his winningest smile, but blinked when Juni stated she wasn't a hero. But she was!
"Nonsense, this is... Shadow... Cat. ShadowCat! She's a little shy, though, so SHHHH." He winked, and then leaned in to Juniper once more.
"My father once told me... Anyone can be a hero. All they have to do is decide, just once, to do something heroic." He gave her a playful shove, and then started leading the hostages out of the building, pulling out his phone to call the police as soon as he got a reception.
It was... sorta nice to show off. He knew that pride was unbecoming to a certain degree, but he'd worked hard to attain this physical shape; he figured things like this were just his reward for doing so. He pulled himself to a standing position finally, and spoke with a grin. "You know, with enough work we can get you doing the same. All you have to do is-"
She was gone.
"Ask."
Man, she was good.
__
He had another letter from his dad! Just like the last one, this one had a small letter, and a signed Super Hero collector's card! This one was was DarkMoth, and it was his rookie card, too! That completed his whole DarkMoth set, actually! Xavier grinned widely as he slid the card into its protector on his way to his room. He paused when he heard a familiar voice yelling out about... Cat Food?
"Hey Juniper! Everything okay?"
She seemed, well, sorta chill, actually, but he was beginning to think that was just a constant outer shell he would have to learn to peer past in order to get an idea what she was really thinking. The yelling tipped him off that something was up, though.
"Anything I can help with?' He'd just finished up class and a short patrol, so he was free for a bit, until night patrols, that is. Oh, and homework. Mr.S was brutal.
So... This guy was a piece of work, then. Still, in the darkness of the room the tall, broad teen struck a sort of imposing figure as well. He stood to his full height after climbing through the hole he'd made in the floor, and looked to Juniper to make sure she was okay. She warned him about looking the man in the eyes. Oh, good, that could have been a short fight.
The man held her to him, a human shield, and his teeth clenched, his usual smile showing as more of a grimace. He stomped forward until the man bid him stop, and he bristled as the son of a @#$%^ yanked her head back. That was it, then... This man thought he was the big bad. "So what... you think you're some sort of villain." He ordered her to bite herself, and Xavier's eyes narrowed as he crouched a bit. Then, the big man leaned in to lick the blood from her, turning back to speak. When he looked back, though, he would realize he was talking to a dark, empty hallway.
As the collar hit the ground a flash of movement came from above him, and a heavy, metal soled boot heel clacked down on the top of his head as the young Hero ended a soaring leap with an absolutely brutal downward heel kick that rocked the man's head down violently enough to make his jaw slam shut so hard a couple teeth spat out either side of his mouth.
"WELL I'M A HERO!"
Xavier landed, catching Juniper's arm as she was thrown to the side and pulling her behind him as the man shakily managed to keep his feet. Okay, so he was tough.
"NNNGUh YA @#$^in punk! Think- Guh- Think you can @#$^ with me! She's still mine! Kill hi-" CRRRRRACK! Xavier launched forward with surprising speed, admittedly using his power to do so, and landed a fist right on the jaw of his giant opponent, who seemed to take the hit well until he just... kept moving backward, flying through the room like a giant bullet until he smacked through a drywall barrier, and into the wall behind.
He smiled in relief when she tossed the weapon, and also jumped a little when it went off. "Woah! You okay?" He patted himself down. No holes. Good! None on her. Even better!
He then looked over to the knocked out guy... These dudes would probably need to go to the hospital before they went to jail, but they were all going to live. It was an important rule for him. No one dies. He saw her looking about as she mentioned there were probably more people, and then tilted his head a bit when she asked him to lift her up so she could... check upstairs? He looked up... No holes or anything. Still, she seemed to have a pretty big bag of tricks. Maybe there was something he was missing.
He crouched down a bit to gently grab her by the hips and lift her up over his head, and to where she could place her feet on his shoulders. Heh... It was like some sorta straaange cheer routine or something. He looked up to see what was going on up there, and found himself blinking a barrage as he noticed her head had disappeared into the ceiling. He stared in awe as she slowly but surely made her way up through the solid material and onto the floor above like she was climbing from a pool. Holy Crap. That was so cool. Think about the sort of things he could do with that power! It suddenly made sense how she got into his apartment so easy, too. He'd been way off!
He was still staring by the time she poked her head through to talk to him. "Wow, that's the coolest-" She was suddenly yanked upward. He had people coming for him as well. They were headed down the stairs. They weren't going to have any luck.
As soon as he realized Juniper was in danger, he launched himself upward, grabbing the ceiling by the small metal rafters, and placing his hand on the wooden planking above him.
He tried to isolate one plank at a time as he hung there by his strength alone, and POP! CRACK! PACRACK BOOF!
He forced his way through the layers of the ceiling one after another, applying his power over and over until finally he burst through the floor of the room above, launching himself upward and landing in a crouch with his cape waving wildly about behind him.
He froze a bit when she hugged him. Wow. That was his first Super Hero 'thank you for saving me' hug. It felt... Nice. His chest swelled up a bit, and his smile widened. He could see why people were willing to die for this. He patted her back, and then prepared for their next challenge.
Before he could do too much, she stepped into action, and... Wow. She grabbed the collar and charged forward with wrath. He saw a gun, and only had time to shield himself as a few bullets flew into the room. One bounced off of him and into the wall, but more importantly, Juniper moved forward unscathed and juked past the man, somehow ending up with his gun in her hand, and... He was injured. He dropped his full area repulsion and ran forward.
"You okay?!" She was fine. The guy, not so much. Was that a shock collar sticking out of his stomach? What. the. hell. He threw a quick punch, hitting the guy right on the button and dropping him. He then looked to her, and made a real serious expression.
"Juniper, No one dies when I do my work. Can you throw that away?" He pointed to the gun. The sound of another man running up distracted him for the amount of time it took for him to pick up the man he'd just knocked out and repel him into the man running up. They both landed in a heap, and neither were getting up any time soon.
"Just as important... Were you alone here, or are there others?" If there were, he couldn't just leave them behind.
He grinned at that statement, a look of calm confidence on his face. "You're not wrong."
He could really crank out pushups. His morning routine included one hundred or more. The claps made it more explosive, as he had to generate more force more quickly to elevate himself to clap safely. He wasn't looking when she sprung from the couch, though he did pause for a second when he felt a light weight on his back. A knee met the ground so he could look back a bit. There she was... She weighed so little... Part of her power? She slowly started to weigh as much as a normal person of her size.
A smile slowly grew as he brought the knee up again, and started doing push-ups again.
It was harder, for sure, but he'd done such things before, and he was fit enough to still move pretty well with her on him. about 15 in He paused for a second as she commented on Kung Fu Movies. "I think they do-" He did another push up. "Handstand push-ups, mostly." He did another, and then ten more before he started to sense some exhaustion setting it, and opted to save face rather than go all wiggle armed.
"Alright, this ride is at the station." He slowly lowered himself so that she could get off. After a second, he pulled himself into a handstand and started working his shoulders with them Kung-Fu type Push-ups.
It'd been a while, but he did a lot of incline press and shoulder presses at the gym, so it wasn't so bad. He was, however, definitely breaking from routine at this point. Maybe, just maybe, he was inclined to show off a little.
The tall man tilted his head back and forth. "I mean, I'm not old enough to go into bars, so I can't say I'd be a great wing-man in that regard, but I'd help you score if you wanted." He didn't feel the need to question how she might get into places that served alcohol openly. She probable had a fake ID. No biggie.
"Didn't say that I didn't know you weren't from here, just that I felt like you belong here." He stated nonchalantly in response to her saying she was happy he couldn't tell.
He chuckled and shook his head at her mention of Naken everythingbutsundays. "That's not surprising." He didn't doubt it. It was a bit cold in her apartment, though. She had other ways of keeping warm. When she stated she was a wizard he smooshed his face a bit, and looked to the glass door again. He believed her, but if that wasn't how she got in... How did she do it? Something to do with her ability.
Unless... She really was... A wizard? "Dont... Don't they call them witches... Like, in the books, I guess. I don't really read a lot of fiction that doesn't involve Super Heroes."
He was struck by a spark of inspiration, and suddenly opted to lean forward, catching his weight with his outstretched arms on the way down and starting to do clapping Push-ups at a fairly rapid pace.
Wait... was that... Despacito? "Niiiice." He was a Brieber fan. Not, like, buy tickets level fan, but a light it up on MRI-Tunes sorta fan.
Her being huddled in a corner sorta tipped him off that things were not okay, though. He frowned a bit, and looked over to Mark. "You know how to get that off?" The man winced, and shook his head. "Mmm. Take a nap, Mark." He palmed his head, and his dome into the wall at a significant pace. The man slumped ending up head on the ground, bottom in the air.
"Okay, c'mere. Slowly, let's see..." He moved in and gently placed a hand on her shoulder as he took a closer look. The hand, as spoken By Evangeline, the Angelic Canadian Hero, was a great way to let someone know they were safe. The physical presence of a defender often calmed them.
"Okay, I might have a plan... It clasps here... so..." Delicately he reached his fingers toward the sides of the ring where it clasped. With surgical precision, and a tongue stuck out in focus, he pressed on both inside ends of the clasp, and focused on making them separate from each other... There was a little wiggling... and then there was a LOT of wiggling.
TINK!
It failed, and the necklace popped open, scattering to the floor. He gave a satisfied grin, and looked down to her. "Better?" His hand was lifted from her when he heard footsteps incoming. Uh oh.
He should have been saved under Savior. He was doing just that, right this second.
Saving a cat from a tree. He'd been asked by a kid. He couldn't say no.
He looked up at the tree, and down to the kid, and scratched his head. Yup. There was a cat up there. He could jump up, but how does one parkour down with a cat in their grip? You don't really. Eh, jump in and figure it out on the way, right?
He launched himself into the tree, which got a gasp from the kid. Awesome. Skillfully he latched onto the trunk and shimmied up toward the top, where the cat was. He'd climbed a lot of trees back home; this was a cinch. He was reading out for a cat when his phone rang, and he blinked a few times. One of the other students? He looked. Oh, his neighbor!
"Howdy neighbo- what?" He blinked a few times "Wait, what? Any you called me? Wow, thanks! No, I get it, sorry. Do you see where you are? Okay... Okay. You're okay. Okay, I understand that you might not be okay, but you'll be okay. I'll make sure." He looked down at the kid staring up at him. "Yes. Yeah, that helps. Alright, I got it. See you soon!" He hung up.
Wow. A damsel had called him, and she was in distress. He had to hurry. He looked to the cat, which was staring at him much like the kid. Well, do your best and hope for the best, right? He lunged for the animal, gripping it, gently, but firmly, and then bolted down the branches, scratching himself a couple times along the way before getting to the lowest branches he could... He then let go, doing a no armed roll when he hit the concrete below and shielding the cat from the fall.
"oof." It was a bit of a hard landing, but he and the cat made it out okay. The freaked out animal wiggled away from him, and ran to its owner, who thanked him as he ran off, looking through his phone to plug in the address her phone had given him.
__
He didn't know how to save someone from an enemy compound. Like, he had no idea. He'd been a hero for, what, two weeks now? No idea. He was gonna, though. The Crimson Wombat would have told him to steak out the scene, find vulnerabilities, and hit them at the ideal times... That didn't seem super heroish enough to fit his style... So...
One in a Million knocked on the front door, and set his jaw. The door opened. "@#$% do you want?"
"You are holding a hostage. A woman you have kidnapped. Surrender now, or face a One in a Million Wrath!" He spoke boldly, making a super hero pose as he talked."
The door slammed in his face. Huh. Well, wrath it was.
Xavier placed his hand on the door, and with a CRRRRRRWHOMP! It burst off its hinges, taking the man behind it to the floor under it. The hero stepped on the door on the way in, getting a muffled curse from the man under it as he went. He then casually removed the door, and poked the man on the head, repelling it away from his finger, and causing him to smack the back of his head into the floor hard enough to knock him out. He smiled widely, and dusted off his hands as two more men rounded the corner to see what was up.
__
There was a bit of a hubub outside, and the sound a... whimpering puppy? The door opened up, showing the high pitched noise to be a man in a very painful looking joint lock, held casually by a tall blonde man with a few cuts and bruises, but largely comfortable looking where he was.
"Told you i'd be here soon. This is Mark. He's not very nice, but I motivated him to tell me where you are. Say hi, Mark!"
"I told you my names Earl-ow! Hi! Hi! #@$%!" He got another twist, and he fell to a knee before being allowed up again by his captor. "Atta-boy Mark. Are you alright, did they hurt you?" He couldn't get too much closer to inspect things; he was holding a guy by the pinky, after all.
"MMM, wouldn't know, I've never been drunk before."
His books were... assorted. The shelf itself was neatly sectioned out, one section for books related to work out, one for history, one for heroes, one for building/sewing/ general handiness. No fiction. His ever present smile widened as she called him a god, and he chuckled. "I'm more of a legend, so says my birth certificate."
His eyebrows lifted as she mentioned where she was from, and her parents once more. "Oh man... I mean, I didn't live in a big city by any means, but it wasn't in the middle of nowhere. You know, you seem much more suited to the city, honestly." He stared out the window a few more moments. He had a gap he could look out where he could see deeper into the city, rather than just staring at the building next door. He could see the early morning sky, the clouds glowing gold and orange.
Her tone changed a bit at his question, and he gave her a little bit of a mystified expression. Had he said something strange? It was almost as if he'd let out a scent, and a predator's temper had been piqued. Now, it was wondering if it should be angry at him. "The randomly appearing out of nowhere. I don't mind, but I'd like to know if I need to cancel naked Tuesdays." He shrugged. "I don't know if I have anything worth hiding. I'm fairly proud of that fact that you pretty much know exactly who I am within ten minutes of meeting me."
He took another sip of his coffee, and then set it down. "So... It was the balcony, right? You got in through there while I wasn't paying attention?" He'd been trying to time things out this whole time. She'd have to be fast and dexterous to get it done, but it was possible.
He tilted his head a little as she sneezed. "Getting a cold?" There was a little hesitance there. He wasn't a fan of being sick, apparently. He looked at his alarm clock, and then back to her.
"Coffee."
As he started up his old coffee machine he paused for a moment at the mention of cowboys in Nebraska. "Where are you from anyway?" He walked out of the kitchen with two mugs in his hands moments later.
"Eh, if you'll tolerate me being up and loud early, I'm fine with you being loud at night." He knew he tended to make a little sound in the morning. He'd lucked out with a corner apartment and a neighbor who didn't have room to complain.
He set her coffee on the stand next to the couch, and blew on his own to cool it. He leaned against the wall, looking at his book case across the room as she asked about the workout. "This? Not really... it's more for form and thought. I lift weights and do more cardio to stay in shape."
The super hero took a sip of his coffee, and then turned on the radio, listening to the morning news as he sipped and looked out the window. "So, yeah... This gonna be a regular thing?"
He was only wearing wrist wraps and gym shorts when she passed through the wall. It took him a while to notice. He was too busy dancing around a punching bag he'd built a rig to hang up. Honest to goodness, he made sound effects as he punched the dang thing, stepping forward and to the side to lay a huge haymaker that shook the bag he grunted out a "POW!" before stepping through to the side, kidney kicking and then jabbing quickly twice with a "Thwap- pop pop!"
He'd stepped back to give a dizzying headkick that shook the whole mount when he noticed she was there, and froze in place. W- He looked to his front door quickly, locked. Sliding glass door on the balcony? Not locked. Dang. She was good!
He looked, of course, scary perfect. Like, symetrical and everything, and racked out with an eight pack that wasn't too jagged or bulky. Just right for efficient use of energy and strength.
"Woah, Hey." He replied to her yo, reaching over to grab a towel he'd kept off to the side for sweat. That's right, he was glistening. F@#$ing GLISTENING. It wasn't cold in here, maybe because of the working heater, but likely the man working out at a rapid pace had a hand in heating the room as well.
She commented on the room changes. Huh? It wasn't that big of a deal... He'd only knocked out one wall, and built up some stuff on the others... Additional supports in case he got too rough. He didn't want to destroy the room, after all.
"Uh.. Yeah, feel free to warm up... Saul still hasn't fixed your heater?" He frowned. The guy had seemed pretty nice to him when they'd met, but everyone was complaining that he never actually did his job as a landlord.
"Don't mind me, I was just, you know, daily routine." He finished mopping up the sweat on him and stepped over to his dresser, which was next to his visible, but neatly made bed. As he pulled out a white shirt and popped it on he spoke. "Surprised you're up this early! Sounded like you were up late last night."
She, and the friend she had over, had been a little loud. Still, he could sleep through anything if he wanted to, so he was fine with it.
This was happening. His teeth clenched as THE Shard said his power had potential, and asked him how he did with bugs. Caught up in the moment, he struck a thumbs up pose, and spoke with levity. "I am prepared for anything."
__
That... Was a really big bug. Half way through getting dressed he'd seen a news flash, a stay away advisory on his phone about, well, Mothra.
He hadn't really registered what Mr. S had said back there. He didn't watch movies a whole lot, so he'd figured the Mothra thing was, you know, some sort of X-Person code? Nope. It was Mothra. A giant flying monster. For real. Like from the movies.
Holy Crap. This was happening.
Was he prepared?
Well, Physically, he was there. He always kept an extra costume around, and had practiced getting changed fast, so while Mr. S prepared transportation he got prepped. He walked out of the bathroom and hustled to find Shard once more.
"Ready, Mr.S!" What were they riding there in, now?
His first response was a pun. Xavier chuckled. He was legendary. Classic. This guy was the legend!
He have a stiff nod at the question of him wanting to be a hero, and smiled a bit as he appraised him, and asked if he'd been raised on a farm. "I have prepared my whole life for this. Physically and mentally, I am prepared. I hav-" A phone ringer interrupted his train of thought, and the X-Man answered quickly.
Xavier's eyes went a little wide as he watched him talk. My god... It was an actual hero answering the call sort of moment. Was it the mayor calling? Was there trouble down town? Holy crap, this was awesome to see!
Shin was talking to him. He paused for a beat, and then spoke up quickly. "Oh, Repulsion of physical objects from myself. Strong defensive capabilities, decent mobility, and I can hit targets if they are big, working on aim."
That was about as fast as he could sum that up, and he'd practiced. He smiled widely. Was... He asking because he might have him join? Was he about to go with a real hero on a real mission? Holy crap! Was he in? Oh, or... was this a test?
He realized he'd leaned his tall frame forward in excitement, and cleared his throat as he stood straight again. If this was going to be a test, then he was going to ace it.
