The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I survived being a mail order bride, the rest is just bonus" Sveta snorted, looking over the file as he assessed it. What he was saying sounded right. Travis had not planned this correctly. "So what, he happened on a toddler and thought, what a nice day to attack this one?" she snorted. "I mean... we found him pretty easy the first time. But now he is gone. He wasn't expecting us coming for him like that, I guess."

"Yeah... not many people know. Steel's one of them. I've been doing this longer than I've been at Haven" she admitted. "Self taught, though." No special training. Well, not unless you counted Sam himself, and SUPER. And now she was on the Inner Echelon. Which was a bit of a problem, with her going around as a vigilante. Sveta sighed, taking a seat. "It was dumb of me to trust Travis. It was sort of... a tit for tat information thing. He was looking for mutant criminals, because MRC... we had a deal so I could keep the Haven safe houses out of it."

"Yes. Alive so I can strangle him myself" Sveta nodded. She was serious about it too. She didn't normally engage in torture, but she had very personal reasons to hurt the detective before he was taken to justice, whatever that looked like. "I mean, as long as Mirror manages to maintain their goodie two shoes thing and doesn't do it themselves. Hurting a toddler." Sveta clicked her tongue, shaking her head. "F*** monster."
She moved to her desk to unlock it and get a copy of the file she had compiled. She had several to go around, she handed it to Ranger, smirking at his force of nature comment. "Is it too much to say I missed you? Sucked to be the only black ops person around here. And it kinda clashes with also being in charge."

"Yeah. With me boosting his powers" Sveta frowned. It was still hard to believe. Sam was one of the most powerful mutants in the city. Probably in the world.
>>”Alright. Tell me what y’ know about the guy. I hear he was a detective with NYPD, potentially a mystic. Also heard y’ worked with the guy.”
"Detective Samuel F*** Travis." Sveta frowned. "I compiled what I know, or thought I knew of him. Sam has the file too, and Mirror... the f**er went after Mirror's kid. The little one. Locked her powers down somehow, from what we can tell, maybe with an actual key. Definitely a mystic. Shapeshifting I knew about... power control, that was new. Although in retrospect, he had bullets that were making powers wonky... must have been an experimental stage. And whatever he did to Sam, made his powers go on the fritz like... like me kissing someone." Her frown deepened. "I think he has a sample of my blood, too."

"Yeah well, you get to handle this with Jude" Sveta smirked. Her history with Jude was not exactly common knowledge, but she was not surprised Ranger knew about it. He seemed to know a lot, even when his mind was wiped. And she was not going to stand between him and Jude while they sorted their stuff out.
She did frown at the mention of the security breach.
"Your people didn't let something bad happen, I was a f*** idiot is what happened." she grumbled. Owning up to mistakes. "But... yeah, seems like we need help setting it right. I already tried, with Cold Steel, but the f**er got away."

Sveta sighed again. It made sense, what he was saying. And it was a theoretical question, more likely than not. Still, those decisions defined the rest of someone's life.
"So... you came to me to let us know you were not a spy for SUPER." she summarized. "I appreciate that, but... there has to be something more that we can do for you? Have you talked to Jude?"
Because she sure as hell was not going to. Just talking about de-aging and re-aging brought up a whole lot of unpleasant memories.

Sveta sighed. It really was a seemingly impossible task. And not many people that could help untangle it. She looked up at Ranger. Sveta had had her fair share of crazy and trauma-inducing experiences. It seemed like there was a lot more to go around. Losing a decade, getting a fake past/future... "Can it be undone?" she ventured. "The de-aging, I mean..."
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
Sveta was working hard on wrapping her head around what she was hearing. The video spoke for itself. The de-aging had been a fiasco to begin with... but this was even more sinister. Sveta swore in Russian under her breath. "De-aging people and giving them a false history... beats the recruitment spiel for sure." She had done that version, back in the AU. As a SUPER asset, kidnapped from the street. Sveta sighed, taking a seat and rubbing her temples. "How many others?"
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
Sveta blinked, looking at the folder in her hands and shook her head. So many questions. Ranger really was right down to business.
"Alright hold up." She held up one gloved hand. "You have... investigated yourself?"
Alright, rhetorical question, he obviously did.
"You were never with SUPER?..." Sveta sighed, sitting on the edge of the desk to give the folder a look. "The... rogue faction just picked you up after you de-aged to make you believe that..." She scoffed. "Damn that's convoluted. How did you even find out?"
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
Sveta could scarcely believe it when she was told Ranger wanted to see her. Out of all the people... Not that working with Jude had been a delight (working with exes, ugh), but still, BlacTac was still on dangerous footing since the whole SUPER-infiltration fiasco. And this visit, coming in the wake of another infiltration. Haven security had left things wanting.
It was the end of a long day, and Sveta marched into the room like she meant business.
Sveta felt the shot hit home and she stumbled, hand instinctively going to her mid-section where she'd felt the impact. Shit. No blood was visible. She had been over and over her previous encounters with Travis in her head in the past days. The bullet had to be magic. She felt her familiar coffee buzz ebbing away.
Power dampener.
"F*** you Travis!" she reiterated, seeing Sam seizing on the ground. With her powers shut down, she could have gone to help him, but the ice spikes prevented her. "What the f*** have you done to him?!"
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
"Dammit!" With Steel's powers in full swing, and Travis doing his sliding trick, Sveta had no clear shot. She had no qualms about shooting the man at this point without trying further diplomacy, but she did not want to miss and hit either Steel or a bystander. Which they still had, because people were dumb. At least the ice wall cut off their view, and made them back up. Sveta did not need any of this live streamed.
And then Travis got a hit in with a knife, and Steel went down. He looked seriously hurt, seizing, powers out of control. Sveta's stomach dropped. Sh*t. An ice clone told her to run, blocking her from Travis' view.
"Oh hell no!" she protested, stepping out from behind the clone, aiming a shot at Travis.

Sveta rolled her eyes as they both praised her. Both of them had more power, more confidence, and better qualifications, so she was having a hard time finding her place in the room. But she did what she could, and she believed in both of them for all the right reasons.
The Jungian archetypes, though. Devon had told her about those before, since she had skipped out on... most of formal education, including any readings on Jungian psychology. But Rebel fit her, in more ways than one. She chuckled at Zselkye's choice. Magician. It did sound like a bad name for an actual mystic.
"I feel like Ruler might be taking it a bit too far" she admitted, smirking at Devon. "But he does need a name. And I am a firm no on matching robes."

He claimed it wasn't him, and yet he knew exactly what she was talking about.
"Motherf***" Sveta spat, but Sam was faster. There was no talking now. Travis had tried to shield himself with his status as a cop, which just made it all worse. This was not MRC was for. This was not even what cops were for.
Travis fired several round. Sveta ducked out of the way on instinct, narrowly avoiding a hit. For lack of better cover, she ducked behind the bench Travis had been sitting on, and drew her own gun.
"You are a goddamn criminal!"
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
>>”I’d rein that in, friend. You’re threatening an on duty law enforcement officer. And Sveta, you’re right. I am a cop. I have not assaulted anyone. Last I saw the child she was happy and healthy. Safe from the horrors of the world."
If she had not been sure before, she was sure now. Something in the way Travis talked about the girl... he knew what he had done. That just angered her more. To realize someone could be so completely calm about doing something so horrible.
>>”We’re all adults. Just call IA and have them join us. Settle this without anyone getting hurt. I can’t have your ice harming innocent civilians.”
Sveta glanced over. People were gathering to watch from a safe distance. No doubt expecting some supervillain showdown. New Yorkers never learned. Their city was full of random dangers, from mobs to muggings, and yet, they wanted to watch.
Sam was ready to choose violence, but Sveta held up a hand. She was not wearing a glove.
"Steel, wait." Her eyes narrowed. Something had clicked. Dangers in the city. "The kidnapping. Was that you too?"
